Breast augmentation surgery or mammoplasty: rehabilitation after the intervention. Rehabilitation after mammoplasty (fascination of the mammary glands) Restrictions after mammoplasty

Mammoplasty is the most common type of surgery. It is performed to correct the size and shape of the mammary glands. The operation is performed in a hospital under general anesthesia. If there are contraindications to it, anesthesiologists use local anesthesia. The duration of the intervention is 2 hours. Surgeons often combine breast plastic surgery with other types of correction (breast lift, abdominoplasty, liposuction, lipolysis). There are 2 types of implant fixation: submuscular (under the pectoral muscle) and subglandular (under the mammary gland).

The postoperative period after breast augmentation lasts from 6 weeks to 4 months. The duration of recovery depends on the physiological characteristics of the woman. During the first 6 weeks, the implant takes root and is fixed under the mammary gland or under the pectoral muscle.

Healing of postoperative wounds and a decrease in the intensity of pain with submuscular technique occurs within 10-12 days, after subglandular technique - 4 days. If manipulations were performed to reduce the mammary gland, then the recovery period will be much longer, since during the operation, surgeons expand the operational access and affect the gland tissue itself.

Every woman who decides to undergo mammoplasty is warned by the surgeon about the peculiarities during recovery and what should not be done after breast augmentation.

Recovery features:

  • refusal of analgesics: 1-2 days;
  • return to work after 3 days;
  • light chest workouts: 2-3 weeks;
  • restrictions on physical activity are removed after 5-6 weeks;
  • scarring after 12 months.

In order to avoid a complicated course of the postoperative period, all doctor's recommendations should be followed.

The main requirements for rehabilitation after breast augmentation are:

  • constant wearing of compression underwear for six months, by the 7th month underwear must be worn at night;
  • water procedures are allowed for 3-5 days after the operation, the water temperature should not exceed 40 degrees;
  • treatment of seams after a shower, the use of special plasters;
  • limit motor activity (tilting sideways and forward is prohibited), intimacy, avoid contact with infectious patients during the first month of rehabilitation after breast augmentation.
  • sleep on your back;
  • protect the breast from exposure to ultraviolet radiation for the first 4 months;
  • avoid stress;
  • adhere to a balanced diet to boost the immune system.

Clinical manifestations and activities in the first weeks of the recovery period

Many women are interested in how rehabilitation proceeds by day. After completion of mammoplasty, the breast is bandaged with an elastic bandage.

The patient is transferred to the ward. On the first day after the operation, swelling of the mammary gland increases, pain and discomfort, numbness of the chest, bleeding from the sutures. To prevent swelling and stimulate the formation of blood clots in the area of \u200b\u200bthe sutures, ice should be applied. The ice container should be wrapped in a towel.

2 to 6 days after surgery

The elastic bandage is removed at the first examination by a doctor and dressing. If there are no changes in the seams, then they are treated, sealed with a plaster. The nurse helps the woman put on a compression bandage, which should be worn until the end of the recovery period.

The feeling of tightness in the chest is explained by an increase in the volume of the mammary gland (the skin did not have time to adapt to sudden changes). On the 2-4th day of recovery, with normal healing at the sites of incisions and good health, the woman is discharged with subsequent observation in the clinic.

In the first 4 days of the rehabilitation period after breast augmentation, it is necessary to control the patient's body temperature, which helps in time to diagnose the start of an inflammatory reaction and the addition of bacterial flora. On the 4th day you can take a shower. It is forbidden to wash your own hair, it is better to ask for help. Daily it is necessary to process the seams, including after a shower. Doctors recommend walking more to compensate for the limitation of other movements.

With the introduction of an implant under the pectoral muscle, the clinical manifestations will differ from day to day during rehabilitation. Sometimes the chest muscles may respond to the introduction of a foreign body with a spasm, which leads to its displacement upward. Lowering the implant can take up to 8-12 weeks, which lengthens the recovery period. The total duration of rehabilitation with the introduction of an implant under the pectoral muscle is up to 4 months or more.

From 7-20 days of rehabilitation

On the 7th-10th day of recovery after breast augmentation, the risk of infection of postoperative wounds and bleeding remains. The patient should limit movements leading to contraction of the pectoral muscle (brushing teeth, lifting weights from a standing position, combing hair). Do not take aspirin, fish oil and other drugs that reduce blood clots. To relieve pain during rehabilitation after breast augmentation, the surgeon often prescribes a massage of the mammary glands.

Doctors advise sleeping on your back in a semi-lying position to reduce swelling, pain intensity, and the likelihood of implant displacement. Sleeping on your stomach is prohibited. You should not start driving a car, as turning the steering wheel requires effort, and the pressure of the seat belt causes pain for many women. After mammoplasty, you can return to driving a vehicle after 3 weeks of the postoperative period.

From 10-20 days, the risk of bacterial flora is reduced, bleeding becomes less frequent. Swelling and soreness of the breast is reduced. The pain appears only at night. Nervous sensitivity returns, which is manifested by tingling in the areola. A woman is allowed light physical activity aimed at training the lower body.

Recovery in the first few months

Within 4-6 weeks of rehabilitation after breast augmentation, pain and swelling decrease. The patient develops hypersensitivity to touch and numbness of the chest. Over time, these reactions go away, but can become permanent. During the first menstruation, there is soreness in the area of the mammary gland. In this case, the plastic surgeon prescribes analgesics to relieve pain. After 9 months of rehabilitation, the final healing of the sutures, softening of the scars, swelling disappears. The mammary gland becomes softer.

The shape of the breast can change depending on the hormonal background, pregnancy, weight fluctuations. All plastic surgeons warn about this before performing mammoplasty. In the first year, you should not sunbathe in the sun, as the seams can weaken under the influence of ultraviolet radiation. High temperature leads to inflammatory changes in the tissue of the gland.

Sports after breast augmentation

Most patients are interested in (how much) what time it is possible to play sports. In the normal course of the recovery period, training in the gym can be started after 4 weeks, after consulting with your doctor. Sports activities begin with small loads, gradually increasing them.

Complications after mammoplasty

A complicated course of the postoperative period can occur when the recommendations of a plastic surgeon are violated, as well as due to the physiological characteristics of the woman's body. The main complications include: swelling, pain, scars, capsular contracture.

Severe swelling

Edema is considered a normal manifestation after surgery. A deviation from this conditional norm is severe edema that does not stop for a long time. To eliminate these manifestations will help: limiting salt intake, regular walking, increasing the amount of fluid you drink. Better to drink water. You should limit the use of coffee and tea, they cause severe thirst, as they have a diuretic effect. Excess salt contributes to water retention in the body.

Pain syndrome

Pain is a common manifestation during rehabilitation after mammoplasty. The pain threshold is different for every woman. In women who have given birth, it is higher, so they assess the intensity of the pain syndrome as average. In patients who do not have children, the pain threshold is low, the pain is much stronger. In this case, the plastic surgeon prescribes painkillers (ibuprofen, paracetamol, Tylenol) every 4-6 hours. Analgesics are indicated 1-2 days after surgery.

Visualization and inflammation of scars

During mammoplasty, the surgeon makes incisions in the areola and the natural crease under the breast. Later, scars form. To reduce their visualization, it is necessary to follow the doctor's recommendations, to report the inflammatory process at the site of the sutures in time. Sometimes scars can swell and become inflamed. Hyperemia (redness) persists for 3 months. After 6-7 months of the rehabilitation period, the scars become white in color and become less noticeable.

Contracture of the implant capsule

During recovery after mammoplasty, a capsule of fatty tissue is formed. With contracture, uniform compression of the implant occurs. The chest becomes hard. This complication is treated surgically. Re-contracture of the capsule rarely develops.

Pharmacological drugs and the rejection of the bandage

To improve the general condition after surgery, a woman can use medicines. In order for the rehabilitation period to go well and quickly, you need to consult a doctor about choosing a bra.

Drug therapy

The rehabilitation period after breast augmentation will require the use of pharmacological agents to facilitate its course. The plastic surgeon will prescribe a course of antibiotic therapy to prevent infection. If necessary, anti-inflammatory hormonal ointments and creams can be used.

At the beginning of the recovery period, you will need painkillers in tablet form, as well as creams. When scars are formed, the doctor will prescribe an ointment that accelerates their healing. An example of such a drug is Contractubex. With its use, the scars will become less noticeable.

Switching to regular underwear

During rehabilitation after breast augmentation, a woman can switch to a regular bra only on the recommendation of the attending physician. Early rejection of the bandage and corrective underwear leads to complications in the form of contractures of the implant capsule and its displacement upwards. Doctors recommend wearing special bandages for about 7 months.

Linen requirements:

  • cups repeat the shape of the breast;
  • the bones do not squeeze and do not rub;
  • natural hypoallergenic fabric material;
  • straps are thick;
  • no tight seams.

Compliance with these simple requirements will help to successfully complete the recovery after surgery.

Conclusion

Rehabilitation after mammoplasty passes without complications, subject to all the recommendations of a plastic surgeon. At the slightest change in the body (suppuration of the seams, fever, severe pain in the chest), immediately notify the doctor about this. To avoid a complicated course of the recovery period, one should not take off compression underwear early, drive a car and rush into sports. Walking in the fresh air and a balanced diet will help the body. A successful outcome of rehabilitation depends not only on the doctor, but also on the positive attitude of the woman herself.

Improving the shape and size of the breasts with the help of surgery gives an aesthetic result of a higher quality than diets, sports and cosmetic procedures. But do not think that it depends only on the art of doctors. After an operation such as mammoplasty, rehabilitation is of great importance. And here the patient must also make an effort.

Medications during the recovery period

The intervention takes place under general anesthesia. So the patient needs the first drugs even before the operation. But even then, recovery requires the use of drugs, which are divided into several groups.

Drug groups Purposes of application
Painkillers These drugs are necessary in the first place, since the sensations after the cessation of anesthesia are not pleasant. During the operation, muscles, blood vessels and skin are damaged. Naturally, pain receptors are affected, which transmit a signal about tissue injury to the brain. Especially intense sensations are the first 2 - 3 days, when the patient is still in the hospital. They are treated with injections of painkillers. Further, the discomfort weakens, but you can remove the slightest manifestations of it with pills. "Ketanov", "Ketorol".
Antibiotics When tissues are damaged, there is always a risk of bacteria getting inside. To prevent the problem, as well as the subsequent development of a purulent process, the patient must take antibiotics. Their choice is up to the doctor, but usually these are broad-spectrum drugs.
Antiviral The likelihood of herpetic complications in the postoperative period also exists. Intervention itself can push this, as it reduces immunity. The problem can be avoided by taking antiviral drugs.
Antiseptics These are external means for processing seams. The risk of infection is especially high precisely where the tissues are damaged. Therefore, the seams must be treated with solutions prescribed by the doctor. And from above close them with a special plaster.
Means for healing stitches They are used later when the tissues have healed and the scars have softened. Creams are used to smooth them out, making them invisible. Contractubex, "Dermatix".

This set of drugs is standard. But the individual characteristics of the patient's body, problems in postoperative recovery may dictate the appointment of additional drugs.

Seam care

Sutures to eliminate the divergence of the edges of the tissues are applied from absorbable or non-biodegradable materials. In the second case, they are removed 7-10 days after the operation. Important in rehabilitation belongs to the healing of sutures, and hence their care.

After mammoplasty, breast tissues change their position, that is, they need to be adapted. If an implant is installed, muscles, fascia
and the skin is stretched, the load on them is increased. This creates the prerequisites for the formation of a noticeable wide scar. To avoid the problem:

  • the edges of the wound, in addition to the suture material, are fastened with a plaster;
  • treated with antiseptics several times a day;
  • are worn to reduce tissue stress.

You can use smoothing agents for the seam only when it becomes light. If you start fighting for its beauty earlier, it is easy to get the opposite effect.

Help with swelling

Breast swelling is one of the inevitable consequences of the operation. The upper part of the mammary glands looks swollen for at least a week after the intervention, and sometimes longer. But rehabilitation after mammoplasty involves fighting this symptom of healing of injured tissues:

  • wearing compression underwear that acts like a gentle massage;
  • special nutrition, in which there should be a minimum of salt and spices (they cause thirst, that is, the need to drink plenty of fluids);
  • washing with moderately warm water, which helps to normalize blood circulation;
  • stay in a cool room, avoid overheating of the body;
  • protection of the mammary glands from physical contact with anything (except for compression underwear and clothing, which should be free);
  • maintaining body weight at the same level.

It is necessary to control the scale of edema. The problem should normally decrease. If the swelling increases, this is already a complication that requires the help of a doctor, and not a side effect.

Physical exercise

Another important point in the recovery period is physical activity. Here you should be careful and consistent in increasing the load:

  • The first week it should be minimal. It is strictly forbidden to raise your arms up, carry anything heavier than 3 kg, make sudden movements that affect the upper half of the body.
  • You should not drive a car earlier than 2 weeks after the operation. If the steering wheel does not have power steering, then this will have to wait longer.
  • After half a month, it is allowed to do simple physical work, if it does not require heavy lifting and sudden movements. With good health, you can close the sick leave, but only on the condition that the activity in the service is related to mental work.
  • At the same stage, you should develop your arms and shoulders with the help of the “cheerful little man” exercise. It is the movement of the index and middle fingers along a vertical surface in small “steps”. The total load should be limited to simple walking for the time being.
  • After 3 - 4 weeks, if the doctor does not mind, you can proceed to more serious exercises. But the effort involved in this should be minimal.
  • After 2 months, you can run, exercise with dumbbells, go to fitness. But also only after consulting a doctor.

For information on when you can return to physical activity after mammoplasty, see this video:

Massage

One of the mandatory methods, which includes rehabilitation after mammoplasty under the muscle, is a massage of the mammary glands. Most often it is prescribed a month after the operation. But in some cases it is advisable to conduct a course and
before. Massage helps to quickly remove swelling, improve overall well-being.

And most importantly, it will help to avoid capsular contracture, that is, the formation of a thick and rigid shell of connective tissue around. Normally, it should be thin and elastic so as not to cause pain and support the endoprosthesis.

They do it with warm hands, the types of manipulations will be prescribed by the doctor. There are several procedures for the procedure after breast surgery, but all of them are aimed at softening the fibrous tissue, improving blood supply. Movements are usually made on the area where the base of the implant is located, stroking, rocking, soft pressure are included.

Skin care

After mammoplasty, breast skin requires special attention. As a result of the installation of the implant, it is greatly stretched. And with a decrease in the mammary glands due to excision of excess tissue, the load on the skin is also great. Therefore, care for it should ensure the maintenance of elasticity, prevent the appearance of stretch marks and other types of irregularities. The skin needs to be nourished and moisturized with creams and masks. They can be used already a week after the intervention, making sure that the composition does not get on the seams. For this purpose, it is allowed to take breast enlargement creams containing many moisturizing ingredients.

A month after mammoplasty, it is permissible to carry out the following procedures:

  • Make alginate masks containing a special acid, extracts of medicinal plants, essential oils. They will help to fill the skin with moisture, while maintaining elasticity.
  • Use seaweed wraps that contain fatty acids, vitamins, trace elements. With their help, it will be possible to preserve the youthfulness of the skin by stimulating the regenerative processes.
  • Apply twice a day serums that promote the production of collagen cells. They will help to increase the elasticity of the skin, making it smooth.

To carry out these manipulations, you can use ready-made formulations intended for home use. It is not forbidden to go to the salon.

Other restrictions

The rehabilitation period after mammoplasty includes not only necessary actions, but also mandatory prohibitions. It is forbidden:

  • for the first 2 months, drink alcohol and smoke, as bad habits will prevent the healing of sutures and adaptation of tissues to the implant, and contribute to the delay of edema;
  • 4 weeks to go to the bath, take a hot bath, as the heat provokes complications;
  • the same period to have sex, because it stimulates the flow of blood to the mammary glands, which will interfere with tissue regeneration;
  • reduce or increase your own weight (this can push the deformation of the implant, the occurrence of breast asymmetry, skin problems).

Switching from compression to regular underwear

Beautiful breasts make you want to put on seductive lingerie as soon as possible. But this can not be done for at least 4 weeks after the operation, and for someone up to 3 months. And after the doctor has allowed to part with compression underwear, choosing a bra remains a difficult task. It must meet the following requirements:

  • have a cup of sufficient depth, a wide base and the same straps;
  • do not cause overheating of the skin, that is, be sewn from natural fabric;
  • do not pull the chest, but also do not let it "hang out".

This means that for now it is forbidden to wear push-up and strapless models.

Recovery after breast augmentation is a rather difficult period in which life follows strict rules. And with such an intervention as reduction mammoplasty, rehabilitation is similar to that needed when installing implants. But the reward will be beautiful breasts and excellent health, for which it is worth trying.

Rehabilitation after mammoplasty is a mandatory component of treatment, it takes a fairly long period of time, and is often accompanied by unpleasant and painful sensations. Mammoplasty is an operation to correct the mammary glands. For the fair sex, elastic and beautiful breasts are a matter of special pride. She gives confidence. Therefore, in order to achieve this, a woman sometimes agrees to any sacrifice.

When is Mammoplasty (Breast Surgery) Needed?

Mammoplasty itself is a surgical operation on the mammary glands, performed to change their shape or size. Plastic is not only a cosmetic procedure. In some cases, this is a necessary intervention to preserve the health of the patient.

Similar operations apply to:

  • ptosis(the chest becomes lowered, but its dimensions are preserved);
  • macrospathia(increased breast volume, retaining elasticity and position);
  • micromastia(congenital pathology, expressed in excessively small breasts);
  • gynecomastia(pathologically growing mammary gland in men).

Methods of mammoplasty are different and are applied depending on the reason requiring this intervention. When restoring the breast after a mastectomy (removal of the breast) or with an asymmetric location of the mammary glands, endoprosthesis is used. And you can find out about rhinoplasty of the nasal septum.

To correct sagging breasts, the skin and tissue under the breasts are removed and the remaining tissues are fixed in the correct position.

Breast implants

To correct the shape and size, a special prosthesis is used, which is implanted in the mammary glands. Most often, young mothers are interested in the issue of breast correction, in which, after feeding, it has lost its original shape and volume. A plastic surgeon can solve almost all the aesthetic problems that a woman has in this regard and in. Unlike a trip to the surgeon is required.

On the video rehabilitation after mammoplasty:

The essence of the problem

The next day, the woman is discharged home, where it is necessary to fully comply with all the doctor's recommendations. The sutures are removed on the 7-10th day. Particular attention during the rehabilitation period should be given to the seams and their care. Although all mammoplasty incisions are made in inconspicuous places, the scars that form as a result of tissue tension can ruin your mood.

To prevent the appearance of ugly scars and scars, you can use special patches and. If scars still appear, then them, as with a laser.

In the period after mammoplasty, the most unpleasant and fairly constant sensation is pain. Her appearance is considered the norm, only the intensity of sensations for each woman is different, as well as susceptibility. Pain directly depends on the characteristics of the operation. The most intense pains appear after the implant is placed under the muscle, as well as when very large endoprostheses are implanted. Patients feel the greatest discomfort in the first few days after the operation. They have a feeling that the chest can simply burst.

Thanks to drug therapy with the use of pain medications and antibiotics, severe pain disappears a week after the operation. Bruising and swelling are added to the pain.

Depending on the state of health, the individual characteristics of the woman's body and the degree of complexity of the surgical intervention, swelling and bruising can form both in the incision area and on the entire chest. This is also a fairly natural and normal phenomenon that disappears within a few weeks.

The appearance of fresh bruises and bruises should alert the woman and serve as a reason for an immediate visit to the doctor. Wearing compression underwear can help speed up the process of subsidence of edema and resorption of bruises. You should carefully control the amount of fluid consumed and monitor the body's thermoregulation. Under no circumstances should you overheat. In some cases, doctors may prescribe lymphatic drainage or a special regenerative massage. And you can find out about the plasticity of the wings of the nose by.

How to help the body recover during the rehabilitation period - recommendations from experts

In the period after mammoplasty, you should not expose the body to physical exertion. The body needs complete rest. It is strictly forbidden to sleep on your stomach, make sudden movements with your hands, bend over. The entire rehabilitation period should not lift weights and play sports, have sex, as this can lead to displacement of the implant and excessively increases the load on the pectoral muscles.

During the first weeks after surgery, patients may experience an increase in body temperature - this is a natural reaction of the body to the presence of foreign bodies (implants) in it. At the same time, immunity is sharply reduced, which can lead to the development of inflammatory processes. To avoid this, it is necessary to strictly follow the prescriptions of doctors and accurately carry out the prescribed drug therapy.

On the video, the correct behavior after mammoplasty:

Alternative methods of rehabilitation and recovery after breast augmentation surgery

Postoperative massage

This procedure is prescribed, depending on the individual characteristics of the patient, on the 5-6th day after the operation or after a few weeks. Breast massage is recommended in order to prevent the connective tissue capsule formed at the surgical site from becoming dense and thick. Sometimes such a capsule can compress the implant and significantly change its shape and location. Massage techniques should be shown only by a specialist doctor, they should be performed clearly and accurately so as not to provoke the appearance or increase in edema. And you can find out about rhinoplasty with fillers.

Skin care

Some women after surgery lose the sensitivity of the skin in the area of mammoplasty. This is also normal. After a few days, these sensations pass. Immediately after the operation, due to the strong tension of the skin, the breasts appear young and youthful. But over time, especially without proper care, this visual effect fades away. Therefore, it is necessary to apply special creams, serums and lotions to the skin in the chest area, which tone the skin well and prevent the appearance of stretch marks.

It is necessary to strictly monitor nutrition and body weight - food restrictions

If the initial body weight changes significantly, then the volume of the chest also changes. Before the operation, it is necessary to stabilize the weight at a certain rate and maintain it during the entire recovery period, since a change in weight leads to rather unpredictable consequences. Therefore, there are food restrictions. An increase in body weight leads to the appearance of stretch marks and sagging breasts, and a sharp loss makes the implant visible under the skin.

Compression underwear

It is advisable to choose ordinary underwear that fixes and supports the breast well (bras with wide straps and deep cups) for a year after the operation.

For the video rehabilitation period after mammoplasty:

Why is it so important to follow all the recommendations of doctors during the recovery period after breast augmentation? Because mammoplasty is a rather complicated surgical operation, in which there is a risk of complications. Like any other operation, mammoplasty is stressful for the whole body of a woman. Therefore, one should be quite serious about choosing a clinic where such an operation will be performed. You need to carefully study the experience of the doctor who will perform the procedure. Close and serious attention should be paid to all external and internal factors associated with such an operation, as well as the rehabilitation period. We also recommend that you familiarize yourself with the correction of the tip of the nose.

In this paper, we will consider the features of rehabilitation after mammoplasty. Surely, many women are unhappy with their breasts and strive to change at least something in it. More often this is due to the psychological factor and obsession with their appearance. It must be understood that nature has done much better than a plastic surgeon will.

Very often, women deal with such a problem after the birth of a child. This is due to the fact that after breastfeeding, it sags and loses its shape. To restore her former elasticity, women are ready to lie down on the operating table. Now we will talk about the features of the operation and the postoperative period.

Mammoplasty

Before we discuss the rehabilitation period after mammoplasty, it is necessary to understand what it is and why it is needed.

Mammoplasty is a surgical intervention that is performed for several purposes. These include:

  • shape change;
  • breast enlargement;
  • breast reduction.

The most common goals for mammoplasty are to reshape or enlarge sagging breasts. In the first case, the plastic surgeon removes excess skin and fixes the breast in a normal position. With an increase, special prostheses are used, which are called implants. They are implanted under the skin or under the muscle.

It is important to know that this procedure has indications and contraindications. The first ones include:

  • asymmetry;
  • recovery in case of breast removal;
  • macrospathia;
  • micromastia;
  • ptosis;
  • sagging and breast reduction after breastfeeding;
  • gynecomastia.

The latter applies to men. Yes, even the male gender turns to plastic surgeons to get mammoplasty. This is necessary for hypertrophied breasts.

Contraindications include:

  • oncological diseases;
  • infections;
  • poor blood clotting;
  • diseases of any internal organs;
  • breastfeeding (at least a year must pass after the birth of the baby);
  • minority.

All this should be considered before contacting the clinic in order to change your breasts.

Kinds

Rehabilitation after mammoplasty does not last as long and painful as it is commonly believed. We will talk about this in more detail later. Now we will consider the types of surgical intervention to change the size or shape of the breast.

In modern plastic surgery, the following types of mammoplasty can be distinguished:

  • endoprosthesis;
  • reduction plastic;
  • mastopexy.

The last operation is subdivided into two subspecies:

  • isolated;
  • combination with prosthetics.

Endoprosthetics is also called an increase or augmentation. This operation consists in the implantation of special harmless prostheses. Here it is important to clarify that the natural function does not die out in this case.

Reduction plastic surgery is most commonly referred to as breast reduction. How is the reduction process going?

  • removal of excess fat;
  • elimination of excess;
  • removal of stretched skin.

The last point is necessary to prevent sagging breasts, which is often found with an impressive bust volume. The surgeon sutures only after the shape of the future bust is finally modeled.

The last type of operation is a breast lift. Since the removal of excess skin does not always bring the desired result, because the breast can take an irregular shape, surgeons recommend combining this operation with prosthetics. Then the mammary glands will take the correct shape, noticeably rise and be smooth and elastic.

Training

The rehabilitation period after mammoplasty does not last so long, given some of the doctor's recommendations to properly care for the breasts. Now a little about the preparation for the operation. If no contraindications have been identified and you are serious about having an operation, then you need to undergo a series of examinations:

  • blood and urine tests;
  • blood biochemistry;
  • analysis for the presence of hepatitis;
  • breast ultrasound.

In addition to these examinations, it is necessary not to use hormonal preparations or those containing salicylates two weeks before the operation. Smokers should stop nicotine a week before surgery. This is necessary so that the rehabilitation period after mammoplasty passes faster and the sutures heal at the pace it should be. It is important to know that good blood flow is necessary for quick healing, and nicotine worsens this process.

Operation

The duration of rehabilitation after mammoplasty under the muscle, as in other cases, depends on the location of the incision and the implementation of the doctor's recommendations. The operation itself lasts from one to four hours.

For prosthetics, the following options are possible:

  • subglandular (under the tissue);
  • subfascial (installation between the fascia and muscle);
  • submuscular (under the muscle);
  • combined (part of the implant under the muscle, and part under the mammary gland).

Which option is right for you, only the surgeon can tell. As for breast reduction, in addition to the aesthetic aspect, one can single out a therapeutic purpose. After breast reduction, the following favorable moments are possible: pain in the spine decreases, it becomes easier to breathe, lung diseases disappear, physical activity increases and sleep improves.

A breast lift consists of several stages: removal of excess tissue, correct distribution of the areola, and, if desired, the installation of implants under the muscle. With a prosthesis, the breasts look more natural.

Postoperative period

If we consider mammoplasty by day, it is better to single out periods by weeks or even months. Main stages:

  • after three weeks, the swelling completely disappears;
  • within two months, the formation of the implant case occurs;
  • after six months, the feeling of discomfort disappears.

Now briefly about some features of the postoperative period:

  • a month of wearing compression underwear;
  • ban on raising hands for three weeks;
  • do not lift weights for three months (more than three kilograms).

The final result will be visible only after three months. Previously, you should not evaluate the result, because the breast will still change, all inflammatory processes will pass and the mammary glands will take the correct shape.

Seam processing

How long does rehabilitation after mammoplasty take? It is rather difficult to answer, because it all depends on the type of operation and the location of the incision. However, if you take into account the recommendations of the doctor, then the period of healing and removal of puffiness will pass faster. Now about the rules for processing seams. It is worth noting that everyone's healing process is different for everyone. Some do not experience any discomfort, but there are those who seek help from a medical facility.

Necessary activities:

  • to prevent the divergence of the seams, the first day to rest in a semi-sitting position;
  • monitor the scarring process;
  • on the recommendation of a doctor, treat the stitches with antibiotic ointments;
  • in some cases it is worth using brilliant green for processing;
  • the first bath can be taken only after four days after the operation.

Care

The breast after mammoplasty requires special care. Now briefly about what needs to be done to prevent sad consequences:

  • sleep on your back (at least three weeks);
  • you can take a shower only on the fifth day after the operation;
  • process the seams;
  • save yourself from physical exertion;
  • wear compression underwear;
  • change underwear daily to prevent infection;
  • do not ignore the recommendations of your doctor, he knows better how to take care of your breasts in the period after surgery;
  • after consulting a doctor, you can use ointments to remove scars.

Physical exercise

Rehabilitation after or another type will go more smoothly if you follow the doctor's recommendations. One of them is the avoidance of physical activity.

Please note that you should not engage in any kind of sport until the doctor allows it. It is worth briefly forgetting about jogging and fitness. Even bring a heavy package from the store, ask your husband. For a month, it is not recommended to raise your hands, and even more so to lift a weight of more than three kilograms.

pros

In this section, we propose to consider the advantages of surgical intervention in order to correct the shape, increase or reduce the breast. The pluses include:

  • operation safety;
  • reducing the risk of breast cancer;
  • aesthetic look.

Scientists have proven that it helps to avoid a fairly common disease among women - breast cancer. The operation is completely safe. If everything went well, then you will be able to delight others with beautiful and elastic breasts for a long time to come.

Minuses

The disadvantages of mammoplasty include:

  • rehabilitation period (it is worth considering the fact that the duration of the rehabilitation period increases with the size of the implant being implanted);
  • nausea after anesthesia;
  • pain relieved by analgesics;
  • possible insomnia;
  • remaining scars (if properly cared for, this side effect can be avoided);
  • change in lifestyle (refusal of active sports and going to the gym);
  • giving up cigarettes;
  • refusal to plan pregnancy (at least six months);
  • while breastfeeding, you should take better care of your nipples.

Unsatisfactory result

We examined rehabilitation after mammoplasty under the muscle by day, or rather, by month. In that section, it was said that the final result should be evaluated only after three months. What to do if the result is unsatisfactory?

Unsuccessful plastic surgery can occur for the following reasons:

  • due to the fault of the doctor;
  • poor quality implant;
  • rejection of the implant by the body.

To avoid this, preference should be given to professional surgeons who use only high-quality raw materials. The most common problem after mammoplasty is asymmetry. It can be corrected by contacting a plastic surgeon again to remove the implants.

Smoking women planning breast correction are asked by surgeons to give up the bad habit for a while. And there is a good reason for this. Studies that compared the state of non-smoking patients and those who smoked during mammoplasty showed that the latter suffer from various complications almost 8 times more often. The optimal smoking cessation period has not been established, but seems to include at least 4 weeks before and 6 weeks after surgery. The good news is that cigarettes can be replaced with nicotine gum or patches.

Why is smoking incompatible with the operation?

It is performed under general anesthesia, which requires constant monitoring of the patient's cardiovascular activity and breathing. The reactions of a smoker during surgery are different from those of a non-smoker, and this creates additional difficulties for the work of the anesthesiologist.
Nicotine and carbon monoxide in tobacco smoke increase blood pressure, heart rate, and decrease oxygen uptake by tissues. Therefore, if a smoking patient is not provided with additional oxygen during the operation, vital organs such as the brain and heart may suffer. The risks are significantly reduced if the patient stops smoking at least 24 hours before surgery.

Smoking also impairs the excretion of anesthetic drugs from the body, so patients who smoke are more difficult to experience the effects of anesthesia.

No less dangerous is the inhalation of tobacco smoke in the postoperative period:

  • Nicotine constricts small vessels in the tissues around wounds, causing them to become hypoxic. This increases the risk of infection and necrosis (death) of tissues at the site of intervention. According to American scientists, the incidence of infectious complications in smoking patients after mammoplasty is 7.9%, while in non-smokers it is only 0.9%.
  • Researchers from the University of California have shown that in active smokers, the blood cells responsible for healing processes (fibroblasts) move more slowly towards wounds. As a result, mammoplasty wounds take longer to heal and are more likely to form unsightly scars.

Interestingly, nicotine replacement therapy in all studies conducted did not affect the results of operations in any way. Therefore, doctors do not prohibit its use - at will, the patient can use nicotine patches or chewing gum. 1.5 months after mammoplasty, it is allowed to return to smoking.
