Winter days passed one after another - sometimes blizzard, sometimes snowy, sometimes frosty and ruddy. And every day the New Year was getting closer and closer.
One day Tanya came from the street crying loudly.
- What are you doing? - asked the grandmother. - Are your hands frozen?
– I didn’t freeze my hands! – Tanya sobbed.
- Well, then what? Did the boys beat you up?
- No, they didn’t beat me off!
- Then what happened?
- They will make a Christmas tree at school... But they won’t take us... They say it’s too far to school, the little ones will freeze... But we won’t even freeze a bit!..
“It’s true,” said the grandmother, “where are you going so far in the cold?”
- Yes! "In the cold"! And there the tree will be all decorated!
- What a disaster! And we’ll take it and dress up ours!

Tanya wiped away her tears and immediately cheered up. After lunch, grandfather began harnessing the horse.

But Tanya shouted:

Some bird sat on a branch and shook a snowball from above right on Tanya’s head.
“Grandfather, it’s cold for the trees to stand in the forest,” Tanya said.
“Of course, it’s cold,” said grandfather, “and it’s blizzard and frosty.”

Tanya walked along the forest road.
Here’s a good Christmas tree, but the branches don’t go all the way down... Here’s another one, also good, but it’s too big, it won’t fit into the hut... Here’s the third one, next to the birch tree - small, fluffy, straight, just the way Tanya wanted it!
“I chose this one,” Tanya said.

Experiment “Why is the snow soft?”
Goal: to improve children's knowledge about snow.
Materials: spatulas, buckets, magnifying glass, black velvet paper.
Move. Offer to watch how the snow swirls and falls. Let the children scoop up the snow and then use buckets to carry it into a pile for the slide. Children note that buckets of snow are light, but in the summer they carried sand in them and it was heavy. We had to carry the buckets together. What's the matter?
Then the children look at the snow flakes that fall on the black velvet paper through a magnifying glass. They see that these are separate snowflakes linked together. And between the snowflakes there is air, which is why the snow is fluffy and so easy to lift.
Conclusion. Snow is lighter than sand because it consists of snowflakes with a lot of air between them. Children add from personal experience and name what is heavier than snow: water, earth, sand and much more.
Please pay attention to the fact that the shape of snowflakes changes depending on the weather: in severe frost, snowflakes fall out in the shape of hard, large stars; in mild frost they resemble white hard balls, which are called cereals; When there is a strong wind, very small snowflakes fly because their rays are broken off. This is all coniferous Pine, spruce, cedar... Find out coniferous trees easily. Almost all of them are evergreen. And instead of leaves they have needles and needles.

Conifers live long. Spruce - three hundred years old. Cedar - six hundred. The mammoth tree has been in America for more than three thousand years.
Conifers are the most big trees on the ground. The height of some reaches a hundred meters or more! And the trunk is fifteen meters across! They are distinguished by their unpretentiousness. They don’t need much sun, and they are not afraid of drought, and severe frost is not scary. And the soil can be the poorest, most infertile. There are six hundred different species of conifers on Earth. And most of them live only in the Northern Hemisphere.

Spruce
Well, the spruce forest is dark! You can't see anything ten steps away. Sun rays barely penetrate the thick needles. Each spruce needle lives a long time - from five to seven years, then, dry, falls to the ground. And during this time, how many new ones will arrive! After all, fresh needles appear every year.
Spruce does not grow very quickly. The Christmas trees that decorate our homes on New Year's Eve are twenty and even thirty years old. And those that sparkle New Year's balls in city squares - maybe a hundred years!
Spruce cones are narrow and long, like carrots. The seeds in them are small and with wings. At the end of winter, when the snow melts and becomes covered with a crust of ice, the cones open. The winged seeds are picked up by the wind and carried along the snow crust far from their native tree, two or three kilometers away.
Young Christmas trees grow from the seeds. Very tender and weak. In an open field they can freeze. Only under the protection of mature trees are they not afraid of frost.

Tanya's Christmas tree stood in the upper room, spreading out its thick branches. It was as if she had woken up from a forest winter sleep. The entire hut smelled of fresh pine needles.

Tanya's grandmother gave her a whole handful of sweets in colorful pieces of paper. Tanya and Alyonka threaded threads into gingerbread cookies and candies and hung them on the Christmas tree.

How Donkey, Hedgehog and Little Bear celebrated the New Year (S. Kozlov)
Throughout the pre-New Year week, a blizzard raged in the fields. There was so much snow in the forest that neither the Hedgehog, nor the Donkey, nor the Little Bear could leave the house all week.
Before the New Year, the blizzard subsided, and friends gathered at Hedgehog’s house.
- That’s it,” said Little Bear, “we don’t have a Christmas tree.”
- No,” agreed Donkey.
- “I don’t see that we have it,” said the Hedgehog. He liked to express himself in elaborate ways on holidays.
- “We have to go look,” said Little Bear.
- Where can we find her now? - Donkey was surprised. - It's dark in the forest...
- And what snowdrifts!.. - Hedgehog sighed.
- “And yet we have to go get the Christmas tree,” said Little Bear.
And all three left the house.
The blizzard had subsided, but the clouds had not yet dispersed, and not a single star was visible in the sky.
