Classic version

Must be done on a level and spacious base. This is required so that when unwinding the roll there are no distortions, and also accuracy is maintained when performing all actions.

Creating a curtain from wallpaper is carried out according to the following scheme:

  • The first step is to measure the window opening. At the same time, it is worth paying attention to important condition– the curtain can be inside the frame or on top of it;
  • The width will remain constant, but the length may increase. For example, if the size of the height of the window opening is 120 cm, then another 25% should be added to this indicator, namely 30 cm. As a result, the length of the cut fabric should be 150 cm. This indicator takes into account folds;
  • then roll out the roll onto flat surface, measure and cut off the required fragment;
  • On the wrong side, stripes are drawn to create blinds. This process is carried out using a ruler and a simple pencil. The width of the lines should be from 2 to 3 cm;
  • the initial fold is performed using a ruler, it allows you to fix required level evenness. The first element is used to bend the rest. Everything must be done exactly in accordance with the markings; if a misalignment is suddenly allowed, then the following sections will be deformed. As a result, the product should look like an accordion, which should not spring;
  • placement of the cord on the side. To do this, you should make an indent of 10-15 centimeters from the edge of the canvas and pierce two holes;
  • you can place the cord in the center. In this case, holes are pierced in the central part of the canvas. To do this, the accordion should be folded and placed on a flat surface. wooden block. You can use a hammer to quickly make holes. The hole can be made with an awl or a nail;
  • After this, the resulting holes should be slightly widened and a rope or tape should be threaded through them. The cord should move freely through the holes, but it should not dangle;
  • It is recommended to secure the tape on the bottom side with a fixing agent, and on the top side with double-sided tape. If the edges of the satin ribbon unravel, they need to be burned;
  • the finished structure can be attached with double-sided tape to the selected location. Release the lock and straighten the curtain;
  • if the tape is threaded in the center, then after opening the curtain, the edges can be gathered in the form of a fan and secured using a secret method.

Blinds are one of those things that, by their very appearance, create comfort and coziness in the house. One of the most important advantages of this window accessory is that it evenly transmits light into the room. A number of other advantages of blinds include: ease of installation, affordable cost, durability, ease of maintenance, etc.

Types of blinds can be distinguished based on the type of design, as well as the material of the products.

Classification of blinds by type of design
Horizontal involve horizontal placement of strips, which can be of different widths. This type is recommended to be purchased for small windows, as it is believed that the horizontal stripes visually expand the space.
Vertical They fit well into any room and are very popular. Visually, this design makes the ceilings higher.

It is this look that will give the window unusualness and originality. It involves a combination of materials and designs, which ultimately turn into a rich decoration of any interior.

According to the material from which slats for blinds are made, there are:

  • fabric;
  • wooden;
  • plastic;
  • aluminum;
  • paper designs.

Fabric blinds can be either horizontal or vertical design. Cassette and roll options They are also made from fabric material. These window decor items resemble ordinary fabric curtains and represent huge assortment. In order for the material to serve for a long time and retain its primary properties, the blinds are treated with antibacterial and anti-dust impregnation. Blinds made of fire-resistant fiberglass are recommended for use in the kitchen.

They call it classic wooden blinds. In appearance, they are very reminiscent of curtains with lambrequins. Vertical and horizontal designs of wooden blinds are more often sold in stores.

Aluminum blinds are found in the form of vertical, cassette and horizontal products. In terms of environmental properties, they are considered one of the best, therefore they are recommended for use in children's institutions, as well as in healthcare.

Whatever the shape of the blinds, they can be very easily and conveniently cleaned of dust, even with a vacuum cleaner. Due to their properties and functions, blinds have been and remain a popular window accessory all over the world and occupy a worthy place among other products of a similar purpose.

A huge amount of this type of window decor is sold in stores and on the market. You can purchase blinds in different colors and with a variety of patterns. But it is no less interesting and economical to create blinds with your own hands. What is needed for this and how to choose the right material for paper blinds, we will consider further.

DIY paper blinds

The production of paper blinds does not require any special financial costs. with my own hands. For those who want to try to create such window decor on their own, the first question that arises is: How to choose the right material for paper blinds?

Necessary tools and materials for making paper blinds with your own hands

For work we need the main material - paper. She may be various densities and textures. At the request of the master, you can purchase plain material or colored wallpaper. Experienced needlewomen note the quality corrugated paper. It is quite durable and resistant to sunlight. Paper products for windows, in addition to being considered a cheap option, have other advantages:

  • easy to use. It’s not a pity to throw them away in case of repair, or replace them with others;
  • handmade design embodies all the individual wishes of the owner;
  • multifunctional: they decorate the window space and perform a protective function.

Before you begin the process of making paper blinds with your own hands, you first need to prepare auxiliary materials for work. We will need:

  • scissors;
  • ruler;
  • tape and glue;
  • hole puncher;
  • ribbons;
  • clamps;
  • pencil;
  • clothesline;
  • rings for curtains.

Paper blinds can be made using very common methods. The first is to use a material such as wallpaper, the second is to use newspaper tubes. The third idea is based on corrugated paper.

The result of all the options is surprising and pleasing, since even with your own hands and without experience you can create real masterpieces for decorating windows.

DIY pleated blinds made from wallpaper

Before starting any processes, you need to carefully take measurements from the window for which future blinds are intended. Experts recommend that the width of the blinds be made exactly according to the window, but it is better to make the length with a margin. It is better to take medium-density wallpaper as the main material; it is much more difficult to work with the vinyl look in this case.

Based on the measurements, we cut off the wallpaper and use the technology of working with paper to make a so-called “accordion”. At the next stage, using a hole punch we make a hole in the middle of the accordion. We glue the finished last step with a piece of double-sided tape. We tighten the clothesline into the hole and also fix it with tape. When cutting the rope, be sure to leave some extra. We straighten the structure, attach it to the window, and all the blinds are in place. Cheap, simple and quick option the production of blinds at home finds its fans every day, especially since handmade are now very popular.

DIY roller blinds made from newspaper tubes

The second way to make blinds with your own hands is to use newspaper tubes. This is quite a voluminous job that will require both time and effort, but this design can last quite a long time.

Step-by-step instructions for making blinds with your own hands from newspaper tubes are as follows.

Step 1. Take measurements from the window.

Step 2. For the width of the window, we prepare approximately 250 (depending on the size of the window), painted in the desired color, newspaper tubes.

Step 3. Newspaper blanks must be laid out flat and leveled. Then they need to be connected to each other using a rope. You need to tie using the ring technology, connect one tube to the next, and so on.

Step 4. When all the parts are connected, they need to be aligned in length, and all excess material should be removed using scissors.

Step 5. The last work process is to make the lifting mechanism. Using a rope, you need to connect the upper and lower edges of the blinds so that the structure becomes functional. In order for the paper curtain to be secured in the raised position, you need to put a clamp on the end of the rope.

Based on these two common methods of constructing structures for windows at home, you can implement many interesting ideas paper blinds.

Using colored material you can decorate ordinary plastic blinds. Paper blinds not only perfectly decorate any interior, but also perform one of their main functions - they protect from summer sunlight.

Do-it-yourself stackable blinds made of corrugated paper

In order to put this idea into practice we will need:

  • wooden planks that serve as fastenings;
  • nylon cord;
  • tape and PVA glue.

The entire work process consists of making garlands from individual paper elements in the form of various figures. As additional components, you can add various beads and decorative units that will improve the light transmittance of the window structure.

All paper elements are attached with glue to a nylon cord, which is then pulled into the holes on wooden plank. The garlands are tied into a strong knot. In order for all paper elements to keep their shape, it is better to strengthen them with cardboard.

Window blinds made of paper are a good alternative to designs made from more durable material, which has a decently different pricing policy and embodies the most original creative ideas in life. For more detailed information about how to build paper blinds do it yourself at home, watch the video at the end of the article:

Today I want to offer you step by step photo instructions for decorating your windows with your own hands using wallpaper blinds. This is a very interesting, unexpected, low-cost and easy solution for “on a quick fix» hide your personal life from prying eyes, which can replace manufacturing, since these blinds are also made lifting.

And so, to make such blinds you will need wallpaper (you can take the leftovers that you have), scissors, double-sided tape, thin rope (I took very thick silk threads, which I specially bought for making lifting mechanisms in lifting curtains), a retainer and an end cap, hole punch or awl.

First, you need to measure the height of the window and cut off a piece of wallpaper with a margin, since the folds “eat up” the height of the curtain.

My window height was 133 cm, I took 170 cm.

Then, on the wrong side, I marked the folds using a ruler, the width of which was 3.5 cm.

Using a hole punch or an awl, you need to pierce holes in the edges of the folds of future blinds:

Then we stretch a rope into these holes to make a lifting mechanism:

We fix this rope at the upper end of the blinds, and fix it from the inside with double-sided tape:

We lay the bottom edge of the blinds in a “peacock tail”, folding several folds (I got 8 of them) in half, and fixing them with glue on both sides of the punctured hole so as not to glue them lifting mechanism:

Now we attach the clamp to the rope, thread the end cap through it, tie a knot, and close the end cap. You can do without a limit switch, simply tying a knot at the end of the rope so that the latch does not accidentally come off:

DIY wallpaper blinds step by step instructions

The summer heat makes even the most resistant high temperatures people to close themselves off from the merciless sun rays, especially in cases where the apartment windows face south. It is not always financially possible to purchase high-quality blinds for windows, and sometimes there is simply no desire to wait until they are made to specific sizes. Therefore, the question arises of how to make blinds from wallpaper, the excess of which, as a rule, remains after repairs and gathers dust in the pantry. Besides thick paper wallpaper can not only protect the room from overheating, and curtains from fading, but will also organically fit into general interior, especially if you use the same material that covers the walls of the room.

This method of protecting yourself from the sun will save not only a decent amount of money, but also time, as it will save you from multiple trips to the workshop.

In addition, you can notice that carefully made pleated blinds will not look disharmonious or “beggarly” at all - today some designers deliberately choose this option for protecting windows from sunlight, because such curtains are quite capable of becoming a real decoration of the room.

It is also very important that any home owner can make such paper curtains, even those who have never done needlework before. Therefore, if you have everything you need to make pleated blinds at hand, you can safely get down to business.

Manufacturing of pleated blinds

The first option and several of its variations

Before starting work, it is necessary to clear the table of everything unnecessary, since you will need a lot of space on which you can freely spread a sheet of wallpaper, at least 1500 mm long. After this, you can proceed to preparing all necessary tools, which, however, can probably be found in any home.

Illustration
So, to make blinds you will need:
- canvas, preferably paper wallpaper;
- scissors;
- meter ruler and pencil;
- a beautiful thin cord, approximately 1.5÷2 mm thick;
- awl;
- Double-sided tape,
- stationery knife.
You may also need some tape to decorative design or supporting the canvas in a folded form, depending on the selected model of pleated blinds.
Instead of a retainer, you can use a regular clothespin that matches the color of the wallpaper, or a hair clip.
The clamp is necessary for securing in in the right position blinds.
For this purpose, a clothing accessory is used, which can most often be found on the laces of the hoods of sweatshirts or jackets.
A rope is threaded through it, it is clamped inside the clamp, and the curtain is securely held at the selected height.
The very first step is to measure the window or just the glass unit, depending on how wide the curtain is planned to be made.
Let’s say the window height is 1350 mm, about a quarter is added to this value, that is, in this case- another 350 mm, which are necessary for the formation of folds.
The result is a length of 1700 mm - this is the length that wallpaper will be required.
Next, wallpaper is spread on the table, measured right size canvases.
To prevent the roll from curling, it is recommended to place a weight on its edges.
After marking the required length, it is necessary to draw a line along the square, perpendicular to the edges, along which the wallpaper is cut.
Then, the wallpaper intended for blinds needs to be marked to the size of the corrugation.
Typically the width of the fold is 20÷30 mm.
Naturally, the marks along the edges of the canvas must correspond to each other.
The canvas must be drawn using a ruler using the marking points made.
Along the marked lines it will be easier to bend the canvas into an accordion.
The first fold is best folded using the edge of a ruler.
It is laid along the drawn line, the edge of the canvas is folded and the fold of the fold is indicated, so the bend will be smooth and clear.
If the wallpaper is too dense, then apply folded scissors or the blunt side of a table knife blade along the drawn line, applying light pressure.
Then, to obtain a clear line, bend the first fold and draw along it with the side of a pencil or pen (naturally, so that no trace remains - the pencil must be clean).
Next, focusing on the markings and the first bend, the fold is bent into reverse side, according to the “accordion” principle.
Such manipulations are carried out until the entire canvas is folded into an even stack.
The resulting “accordion” is pressed from above with a ruler, which will additionally help to temporarily fix the “pleated” shape in this position.
After this, depending on the chosen model of blinds, the middle of the width of the curtain is determined, or 150 mm are retreated from the edges to pierce holes.
In the first case, one cord will be passed through the middle of the future curtain, in the second model, two cords will be passed through the canvas closer to the edges of the blinds.
At the designated points, using an awl, one hole is pierced in the middle part of the folded curtain, or two - closer to the edges.
The resulting punctures need to be slightly widened by carefully twisting the awl in them.
This will be required in order to pass ropes through them, which should move freely inside the holes made.
The next step, using a “gypsy” needle or crochet hook, is to pull a rope through the holes, the edges of which must be melted in advance, and its lower side secured in a clamp.
Moreover, below the clamp you need to leave a cord approximately 400÷500 mm long - this will be a reserve for stretching the curtains in length.
Later, its excess can be cut off, and the end can also be melted.
When the rope is pulled through the entire “accordion”, it should be secured with tape on the top fold of the curtain.
Then, a strip is glued to the same part of the blinds double sided tape.
The result should be a design like this.
Both the first and second curtain options can be left rectangular, tied, for example, at the bottom with ribbons.
Blinds with one cord running through the middle can be folded into a fan by slightly pulling them up and securing them with a latch.
After the “fan” is formed, its edges are glued together with double-sided tape or, if possible, with silicone using a special gun.
But in this case, it will no longer be possible to separate the glued edges.
Therefore, instead of glue, you can use a small clothespin or hair clip for fastening, hooking it in the middle of the width of the blinds, on the side that will be turned towards the window glass.
In this case, such fixation of the “fan” will be invisible from the room, and at any moment it is possible to straighten the bottom of the blinds to make them even.
If you choose a fan-shaped bottom of the curtain, then its folds need to be beautifully and carefully straightened so that the rays of the folds converge at one point in the center.
The finished blinds are fixed to the upper part of the window frame using a strip of double-sided tape previously glued to them, from which the protective film is removed before fixing.

There are several more options for blinds, which you can also make yourself using wallpaper.

  • This is a simpler version of pleated blinds, for which you don’t even need to prepare and thread cords through the canvas. For such a curtain you will need a sheet of wallpaper, which is folded like an accordion in the same way as described in the table above. The blinds are also secured to the frame using double-sided tape, and their lower side in the middle is pulled up and secured with a regular clothespin or hairpin, forming a beautiful fan. If desired, you can stick foil on the wallpaper, on the side facing the street, which will reflect ultra-violet rays, preventing them from heating the room.

  • If the apartment has arched windows, then wallpaper blinds can become a real decoration for them, since they are fixed along the arch in the form of an elegant fan, gathering one edge of the wallpaper bent into an “accordion”.

To do this, regular adhesive tape 15 mm wide is glued to the wallpaper, previously folded like an accordion, along one edge.

Then, the “accordion” is collected in a stack and pierced through with an awl from the side where the tape is attached. Through the resulting hole, using a gypsy needle, a cord is pulled, which will tighten the lower edge of the fan, and the tape will prevent the paper from tearing. The cord is tied in a knot on the side that will be facing the glass. Blinds made in this way will not only protect the room from the sun, but will also give the room a special charm, emphasizing the shape of the arch.

Prices for blinds

  • If the arched part of the window is divided by a vertical pillar of the frame, then for each half of it, two half-fans are made according to the principle described above. They are attached to each window sash separately, forming a whole semicircle. This method of fixing curtains on arched window looks no less interesting than the previous version.
  • If there is a need to close only the upper part of the window, for example, to block the flow of sunlight to any specific area of the room (crib, desk, etc.), then you can use wallpaper folded in the form of a fan and attached to one of the frame corners. This option looks quite original, both from inside the apartment and from the street.

The second option - the task is somewhat more complicated

Making the next model of curtains from paper, including wallpaper, will take much longer than regular pleated curtains. However, they look more respectable, and will also protect the room from heat much more reliably, since they consist of two layers, between which an air gap is created.

  • To make such blinds, the wallpaper must be marked and cut into strips approximately 100 mm wide.
  • The strips are rolled lengthwise into a tube, and then their edges are glued together with an overlap of 10 mm. There should be enough such tubes to cover the entire height of the window.
  • The glue should dry well, and then each tube is compressed into a flat lamella, so that clear side ribs are outlined, and the place where it is glued is in the middle of the upper side.
  • The next operation is to coat the middle line of each folded tube with a strip of 10÷12 mm with glue, and all the elements are glued together along the length. The glue should not spread, so dry glue is best - otherwise the whole effect of the lightness of such a design will be blurred.
  • All glued and stacked tubes must dry thoroughly.
  • Then, without unfolding the resulting structure, you need to retreat 150 mm from its edges. In these places, using an awl, holes are pierced and widened into which the cords are passed. They should not be visible from the outside, as they will pass inside the straightened tubes. The lower ends of the ropes are passed through clamps that will help hold the curtain in place. different positions. Thanks to the air gaps formed in the tubes, the blinds can be completely stacked or raised to the desired height.
  • You can hang these blinds using two plastic rings tied to the upper edges of a rope. They are hung on hooks screwed into the upper slope of the window opening. In case of plastic windows and - you can get by with double-sided tape, since such blinds are not heavy at all.

Newspaper blinds

This type of blinds can be made from any paper, including wallpaper, but most often old newspapers are used to make this type - due to the fact that they are printed on thin paper that curls easily and retains its shape.

To work, you will need a lot of newspapers, a nice thin cord, two plastic rings, screws, nails or hooks, depending on which plane the blinds will be attached to.

To make curtains of this type, measuring 900×400 mm, you will need to wind 170÷200 newspaper tubes 400 mm long. If they turn out to be a little longer, they can be trimmed upon completion of the work. Based on this proportion, you can calculate the quantity for your window opening size.

IllustrationBrief description of the operation performed
To make it easier to carry out preparatory stage work - preparing tubes, you will need a knitting needle or another fairly thin metal rod.
Its diameter will depend on how large it is planned to make these blind elements.
Having wound the newspaper onto a rod, its edge is secured with dry glue or PVA. The glue must dry well.
Having prepared required amount tubes, they need to be painted acrylic paint Moreover, you can use any colors - as planned in the sketch of future blinds.
Recommended to take coloring composition, intended for facade works, as it is more water resistant.
Additionally, it is best to add PVA glue to the paint in a ratio of 3:1.
After the paint has dried, the tubes are laid out in a row and aligned.
Next, you can move on to the important stage - to fastening them together into one “canvas”.
This process can be done in two ways:
The first option is to fasten the tubes by intertwining them with rope, making one or two knots between them, or simply using the “figure eight method.”
It is best to fix the knots with glue so that they do not unravel or loosen.
Work starts from the top side of the curtain. The rope is tied to a plastic ring for curtains; its ends should be about one and a half times longer than the length of the blinds, and it is better if they are even slightly larger than they will not be enough.
Then, the two ends of the cord are intertwined, one of which runs from the outside and the other from the back of the tubes.
The second option is suitable for those who master the art of crocheting. Moreover, knowledge complex drawings in this case it is not required at all - you just need to be able to weave a simple chain.
This fastening method is more reliable, as it firmly holds the tubes next to each other.
In this case, the cord does not spontaneously weaken or stretch.
If the tubes are tied in knots, then in the lower part the cord is also tied with a knot, which must be additionally secured with glue for reliability.
In order to hang blinds on a window frame, you can drive nails into it, screw in self-tapping screws or special hooks.
If the blinds turn out to be uneven at the edges, then they need to be carefully trimmed with sharp large scissors so that they do not crush the edges of the tubes.
After that ready product It is recommended to coat them with acrylic varnish, which will make the tubes more durable and give them a matte shine.
When finished, the blinds look something like this.
If you need a smaller distance between the tubes, you can tie one knot instead of two, use the figure-of-eight weaving system or a crocheted chain.
In this photo you can see how the street is visible through the tubular blinds.
At the same time, the room is kept cool, and it is possible to have an unobstructed view of the street from the room, but at the same time, nothing will be visible from the outside.
If this type of blinds is painted in White color, then in the evening the window will look as shown in the photo, that is, the opening will not stand out as a dark spot.

On a cloudy day, if you want to open the window completely, you can use two methods.

roller blinds

  • Firstly, blinds can be easily removed when not needed, since they are hung on the window using two rings, but you can do it in another way.
  • Secondly, it is not difficult to make a simple “regulator” for the opening height of the blinds. On the side of the window, cords 200÷250 mm long are tied to plastic rings, and another ring is attached to their lower end. Once the blinds are rolled up into a roll, the bottom ring is placed on the same nail or hook that the blinds are hung from. Instead of a cord, you can use one or two satin ribbons, which will not only support the curtain, but can also serve as a decorative decoration.

It should be noted that the same blinds can be made not only from newspapers, but also from a flat wooden rod, well-dried reeds or plastic tubes, which are fastened together in exactly the same way.

Decorating old blinds with paper wallpaper

If the windows already have blinds, but they are lost attractive appearance, and I would like to purchase new ones, but there are certain difficulties with finances, then there is still a way out. Look in the storerooms - after one of the repairs there is probably a piece of wallpaper left, and all you have to do is put in a little effort. appearance windows will be changed.

So, to spend this in something even creative process you need to prepare:

  • Wallpaper or beautiful decorative paper.
  • Any plastic blinds.
  • Brush and PVA glue.
  • Scissors, ruler and pencil.

Having prepared everything you need, you can proceed to work:

  • First of all, the blinds need to be cleaned of dust that may accumulate on the slats during their operation. Sometimes this requires a lot of effort, but such an operation is necessary because the wallpaper will not stick well to the surface of dirty plastic.
  • Cleaned and dried blind slats need to be measured and counted.
  • Next, the wallpaper is spread on the table and marked using a ruler and pencil according to the dimensions taken from the slats. Then, the canvas is drawn onto required quantity stripes In addition, you need to mark on them the location of the holes through which the connecting threads on the blinds are passed. It is recommended that all stripes, according to the drawing, be numbered immediately so that there is no discrepancy in the ornament.
  • Then, the wallpaper is cut into marked strips, and in the places where the holes are located, cuts are made, or each of the paper overlays is cut into three parts. They will be glued to the slats between the holes for the fastening threads.
  • The next step is to carefully glue the wallpaper strips onto the slats of the blinds. If the strips protrude slightly beyond the edges of the lamellas, then after the glue dries, the excess is carefully cut off with a sharp stationery knife. Do not trim the paper until the glue has dried, otherwise the work may be ruined.

  • So that the wallpaper coating becomes less dirty and the slats can be periodically cleaned of dust, they are coated with two to three layers of acrylic varnish. Each subsequent layer is applied after the previous one has completely dried.

It should be noted that tidying up the blinds or simply making them more decorative look it is possible by gluing stained glass film on them, which today is available in the same way as wallpaper, and has quite affordable price. This material is easy to work with, and there is no additional need to purchase glue.

If you have been wanting to buy wooden wallpaper, but it didn’t work, since they are not cheap, you can cover ordinary plastic blinds with self-adhesive paper, which imitates the texture of wood.

Turning wallpaper into blinds

IN modern world, when everything can be bought in a store, and, if desired, even without leaving home on the Internet, the hand-made direction is becoming widespread. It consists in making various items household items with your own hands, from scraps available materials. Such products can not only decorate a room, making it cozy, but also be useful and functional. To figure out how to make blinds from wallpaper with your own hands, let's look at step-by-step instructions.
To work you will need:

wallpaper remnants;
stationery knife and ruler;
Double-sided tape;
hole punch or awl;
braid or strong thread;
retainer
To make blinds, you can take any leftover wallpaper; non-woven paper will last longer. You can use wallpaper for painting, especially if you want to put some kind of design on it. The color is selected depending on the preferences of the owners, but it should be taken into account that white color will give a uniform diffuse light. More dark colors will let in less daylight, so they will create an atmosphere of twilight in the room.

Simple accordion

Blinds can cover only the surface of the glass or partially cover the frame. The size of the piece of wallpaper that will be needed to make the curtain will depend on the selected parameters. After measuring the width and height, cut out the panel. The width is kept constant, and 20 to 50 percent of the length is added to the height and cut out. This extra length will be needed to create an accordion; the frequency of bends and their density in the finished product will depend on the added value.
On the reverse side, you should mark the places where the paper bends, the optimal size of each bend is about 3 cm. If desired, you can make wider or narrower bends, their size will change the thickness of the product, making it more voluminous or flat. Markings must be made on both sides of the panel to make it easier to fold the accordion evenly, avoiding distortions.

Based on the marks, you need to carefully fold the panel into an even accordion. When folding, be sure to ensure that the folds match in size and that distortions and protrusions do not form at the edges. For convenience, the upper bend should open outward, and the lower one should form a complete step.

To seal the top edge, the last step can be glued together. The accordion-folded strip can be placed under a load or fastened, and left for a while so that the folds are ironed well and get used to their position.
You can use the resulting corrugated strip as blinds.

To raise the curtain to open the window, it is secured with one clip in the middle or two on the sides of the strip. The wallpaper blinds shown in the photo are in a simple way creating a protective curtain.

Peacock tail

To add decorativeness and make the operation of blinds more convenient, other mechanisms are used that fix the raising and lowering of the curtains. Using a ruler, mark the middle of the strip; this is the location of the future puncture for threading the braid. Using a hole punch or an awl, make a hole in the marked center of the strip.

The punctures must be symmetrical, at the same level, so they must be made in one movement. To make the holes more durable, especially on the lower and upper stripes, you need to stick small pieces of ordinary tape on the wrong side, at the puncture sites. And after that, pierce the holes again. The tape will prevent the paper from tearing and this will extend the life of the blinds.
Measure a strong thread or braid according to the height of the window, with a small margin. Thread a thread through the holes on the strip and secure it to the top edge.

To securely fix the thread, it is glued with double-sided tape, which is attached along the entire length of the top strip. Subsequently, a strip of tape will serve as a fastening for the blinds to the window opening.

A fastener is placed on the lower edge of the thread. Using it, it will be possible to secure the curtains, assembled, to different heights. To weight the thread, you can use an end cap or a large bead attached to its lower edge. Thanks to the end cap, the thread will not get tangled or bent; it is more convenient to hold on to when moving the curtain up or down.

If, when unfolded, a flat bottom edge of the blinds is needed to cover the window glass completely, then it is left to fall freely. To create a beautiful decorative semicircle reminiscent of a peacock's tail, the bottom strip is glued together. To do this, glue pieces of double-sided tape on it, on both sides of the hole, and glue them together, forming a beautiful fan. For reliable fixation, you can glue the last 3-4 folds in the middle.

Having spread the blinds to the height of the window opening, so that the curtain completely covers it, the cords are connected and secured using a bead, end cap or knot. You can think of anything else decorative decoration, holding which will conveniently move the blinds.
To ensure that the lower edge of the curtain does not lose its even shape, bending and breaking over time, it must be strengthened. To do this, you can glue a suitable size piece of cardboard or any other onto the bottom strip from the wrong side. comfortable material. This design will make it heavier bottom part blinds and will make it more durable and reliable.
