Account types and registration methods

As we mentioned earlier, the registration process for government services is carried out in several steps, as each of which you receive a certain level account portal:

  1. Simplified account registration. This step is often called “Simplified registration”.

You can become a user of the public services portal in two ways:

  1. Register online using a special registration form on the website gosuslugi.ru
  2. Contact any service center convenient for you

If you choose the second option, a verified account will be created for you immediately and you will not need to additionally request and receive an identity verification code. This is convenient when you have the opportunity to get to one of the closest to your locality service center. The addresses and operating hours of such centers can be found on a special map.

Step 1: Register a simplified account

To get to the registration form, go to the government services portal and click the “Registration” button.

The system will automatically redirect you to a special registration page in the Unified Identification and Authentication System (abbreviated as ESIA) https://esia.gosuslugi.ru/registration/.

The ESIA account is used not only to access e-government services on the government services portal, but also to register and gain access to many regional Internet resources that provide regional residents with the opportunity to arrange various municipal and city services via the Internet in electronic form.

At the first stage, you will only need to provide your contact information:

  • Last name
  • Full name
  • Mobile phone number or address Email

This information is enough for simplified registration for government services.

To make it more clear exactly how simplified registration is confirmed, we will look at the case when the form indicated mobile phone. As soon as you click on the Register button, an automatic SMS message with a special code of numbers will be sent to your number, which will be valid for 5 minutes (300 seconds). If for some reason you did not manage to receive and enter the code during this time, simply send a second request to receive the code.

After successfully confirming your registration, all you have to do is come up with a strong enough password for your newly created government services portal account. Use the system prompts - try to create a combination of numbers and letters of different case (uppercase and sidecase). The system will tell you how safe and reliable the password you created is. Re-enter the password in the "Repeat" field and click the "Done" button.

The next step will allow you to upgrade your account and gain more complete access to the portal's capabilities. To do this, you only need to fill out and confirm your personal information. Let's take a closer look at how and where to do this.

Step 2. Personal information

Immediately after completing the first stage of registration, the system will direct you to fill out basic information, where you will need to indicate your passport data and insurance number of an individual personal account (SNILS).

The specified data is automatically sent for verification using the database of the Pension Fund and the Federal Migration Service of the Russian Federation. As a rule, the verification process will last only a few minutes, but sometimes the verification can take up to 5 days. The check takes place in the background - you can continue to use the portal or close the page, this will not affect the status of the check in any way.

After the data has been verified, you will receive a notification of the result by email or SMS, depending on your notification settings in your personal account. The result of the verification will also be displayed on the My details page in your personal account.

Step 3: Identity Verification

Some portal services are provided only subject to prior identification confirmation - completion of the registration confirmation process on the portal. This is a fairly reasonable requirement to prevent the actions of intruders and scammers. We advise you not to neglect the security of your account and confirm your identity in one of the ways convenient for you:

  2. Confirmation via special code, sent by letter via Russian Post
