But sometimes archaeologists come across truly amazing historical finds. The unidentified, inexplicable baffles scientists, because some artifacts not only do not clarify the essence of the matter, but are also confusing, contradict official history, and even represent things for which even the most enlightened luminaries of science have no explanation. In such cases, the found artifacts are thoroughly studied, and numerous disputes and discussions arise in scientific circles in which scientists try to get to the bottom of the truth. Some criticize and question the authenticity of such discoveries, others put forward the most different versions and theories, the content of which is sometimes even more fantastic and unimaginable than the discovered finds.

It is difficult for an ordinary person to understand and judge such things. Nevertheless, the most inexplicable finds on Earth can intrigue anyone, so in this article we will look at the most interesting of them.

Corrugated spheres from South Africa

In 1977, the general public became aware of certain metal balls that were found in pyrophyllite deposits by miners in the North-Western province of South Africa. These so-called corrugated spheres (also called Transvaal notched balls) have unique properties. But no less interesting is the fact that, according to scientists, the mineral pyrophyllite, in the layer of which these inexplicable findings were found, was formed more than 2.8 billion years ago! To date, at least two hundred such balls have already been discovered, and they continue to be found.

The characteristics of these areas surprised the researchers. They have an ideal shape and consist of an alloy of steel and nickel, but we can say for sure that the combination of these metals is not usually found in nature. The diameter of the balls varies - from 2.5 to 10 cm, and some of them have notches or grooves in the amount of one to three, parallel to each other along the equator. The metal spheres also differ in composition - some are solid, while others are a metal shell approximately 6 mm thick, filled from the inside with a material of unknown origin.

The metal shell of these balls is so durable that it cannot be scratched even by a steel object. They have incredible precision balance and are durable. flat surface. Scientists from NASA believe that this can only be done in conditions of weightlessness, for example, in space.

All versions regarding the natural origin of the spheres do not stand up to criticism, so it is quite possible to assume that these ancient inexplicable finds are the result of the activity of intelligent beings. However, this may have nothing to do with people, because man appeared on Earth much later.

Stone balls of Costa Rica

The attention of scientists is also attracted by stone balls of unknown origin, which are found every now and then in different parts of the world, but the most famous of them are the balls of Costa Rica. These are stone spheres of perfect shape, the diameter of which ranges from a few centimeters to 2.4 m, but one of the balls is 8 m across and weighs as much as 16 tons. To date, about 300 such stone spheres have been discovered.

In the 1930s, these unexplained finds were found on land that a company was clearing for a banana plantation. Scientists suggest that the balls were created about a thousand years ago, and perhaps much earlier, but research is hampered by the fact that over time the stone spheres were used and could move from place to place. Who made these balls and why, and most importantly - in what way? Unfortunately, scientists do not yet have an answer to this question.

Some areas not only have correct form, but also smooth surface. It took a lot of effort to create this effect. Researchers noticed that some balls are arranged in groups of 20 or more pieces, sometimes different geometric figures or straight lines pointing to the magnetic north pole.

Ica stones

In the middle of the 20th century, Peruvian antiquities hunters, the so-called huaqueiros, while excavating burials in the vicinity of the city of Ica, began to find stones on which the ancient inhabitants of the Andes, their life and other interesting subjects were engraved. The most inexplicable finds contain engravings depicting organ transplant operations, observations of celestial bodies, animals, including dinosaurs and some other prehistoric creatures.

These stones have different size- the smallest ones weigh only 15-20 grams, while some, with a height of one and a half meters, weigh about half a ton. In fact, scientists cannot determine their age, since there is no organic matter on the stones, and the location of the caves in which these stones were supposedly discovered is kept secret. To date, at least 50 thousand copies are known, but most of them are considered modern fakes.

Antiquities hunters, in their own words, showed scientists their inexplicable finds - archaeologists failed to interest them, so the Huaqueiros began selling them on the black market for pennies. They started talking about the stones seriously thanks to Dr. Javier Cabrera, a professor of medicine, who became seriously interested in them - in his opinion, these artifacts represent an ancient stone library. Today, Ica stones are kept in various museums, as well as in private collections, but the largest collection is in the “Museum of Engraved Stones”, opened by Cabrera in 1996.

In the first half of the last century, the German archaeologist Wilhelm Koenig discovered a certain clay vessel 13 cm high near Baghdad, which, however, was somewhat different from the usual similar finds. Inside the vessel there was a copper cylinder, the bottom of which was covered with a thin layer of bitumen. A metal rod passed through the cylinder, protruding about a centimeter above its surface. The age of the artifact is estimated at approximately 2000 years.

Koenig suggested that his find may represent a primitive source of electricity with which ancient people could coat figurines with gold using a method of galvanization. Koenig's idea was supported by some experts, and through experiments they proved that the vessel found by the archaeologist could well be used as a battery. Thus, it was possible to obtain a voltage of about 4 V.

However, this is not the first time that archaeologists have come across amazing artifacts. Unexplained finds very often turn out to be fakes or simply not what they are taken for, so not all scientists share Wilhelm Koenig's enthusiasm. Many are sure that the very possibility of generating electricity with the help of its discovery does not prove that the vessel was used specifically for these purposes. As arguments, skeptics cite the fact that no other things were found that could be auxiliary electrical equipment. In addition, historians are not aware of examples of works of that time that could be plated with gold or silver using electricity.

Antikythera Mechanism

Not all new discoveries await researchers underground, buried under the layer of past centuries; many inexplicable facts and finds are discovered under water, long ago sunk to the bottom and forgotten. So, in 1901, from an ancient ship that once sank in the Aegean Sea, divers, in addition to many other artifacts, brought to the surface a certain mechanism consisting of thirty gears, hands and dials, enclosed in wooden case. Aircraft experts, having studied the artifact, came to the conclusion that its parameters completely coincide with the characteristics of modern aircraft.

Moreover, in 1848, an archaeological expedition discovered in the Temple of Seti in Abydos, built three thousand years ago, mysterious hieroglyphs that most closely resembled images of modern aircraft. There were no airplanes in the 19th century, so initially these drawings were not given of great importance, they were remembered only after a century and a half. What these inexplicable finds, photos of which are presented below, mean is still unknown.

However, these are not the only signs that the ancient Egyptians could have possessed modern technologies. Some chroniclers and ancient scientists, for example, describe the presence in Ancient Egypt some objects similar to the incandescent lamps we know. Of course, hashish could have been brought to the land of the pharaohs from Asia, this is not surprising, but tobacco and cocaine could only come from America, which seems to have been discovered only several millennia later.

This discovery caused a lot of noise, because it cast doubt not only on the version of the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus, but also on the confidence of scientists that, in accordance with the ideas of ancient people, in those days no transatlantic communication could exist in principle. Research that resulted in the discovery of traces of plants native to the New World in the bodies of mummies was criticized and questioned, and scientists were ridiculed and accused of falsification.

Scientists continued to study the mummies, as a result of which new evidence was found confirming that in Ancient Egypt they were familiar with tobacco and coca leaves. In addition, particles of tobacco leaves and even the remains of a tobacco beetle were found in the insides of Ramses II. These inexplicable historical finds contradict the generally accepted version, based on them it can be assumed that the ancient Egyptians traveled to South America.

Incredible fossils and metal objects

Many people also know from school curriculum that fossils or certain fossils and minerals were formed over millions of years. But sometimes inexplicable findings are discovered in them, which in principle should not be there. For example, in the Arctic, something similar to a fossilized human finger was found, another find is a palm print in limestone - according to archaeologists, the age of these exhibits is over 100 million years. And this despite the fact that the first people on Earth appeared no more than three million years ago.

Archaeologists, of course, can make mistakes in estimating the age of such finds. Objects undoubtedly created by the hands of an intelligent being, which are also found in strata that were formed, without any doubt, tens of millions of years ago, deserve more attention. For example, in pieces of coal they constantly find something metal pipes, then an iron cube and a pot, then something else. A nail was once found in a block of sandstone from the Mesozoic period. Today, no one can yet explain how these inexplicable and incredible finds got there.

Cases of similar discoveries are by no means isolated, each of which is unique in its own way. And with each such discovery, historians have more and more reasons to doubt the correct interpretation of past events.

Fossilized metal gear cylinders

Some unexplained finds are also found on Russian territory. In 2012, on the Kamchatka Peninsula, tourists discovered an incredible artifact - a fossil, the contours of which resembled parts of some kind of mechanism. Soon, arriving archaeologists confirmed the initial assumptions - the find was indeed a fossil of metal gear cylinders, which, without a doubt, must be part of some kind of device. The very fact of the existence of these parts is incredible, because scientists estimate their age at 400 million years!

According to the researchers, the found mechanism turned into stone over a short period of time, of course, meaning geological measures. For the same reason, the parts were not destroyed for such long term. The fossil was found in a layer of volcanic ash.

Later they joined the research research fellows from the USA, and they confirmed the findings of Russian scientists. However, neither one nor the other can yet say what kind of mechanism these cylinders could be part of; perhaps it was a watch or something like that. By the way, this is by no means the first mysterious find that was discovered in Kamchatka.

These are not all the inexplicable finds of archaeologists, the origin or purpose of which modern science is unable to find out. In most cases, scientists simply turn a blind eye to such things, ignore them, or criticize them. However, new facts cannot be ignored forever, even if they contradict the generally accepted system. Someday scientists will be able to solve these mysteries and find an explanation for them, because sciences such as history or archeology are needed in order to get to the bottom of the truth.

But the most interesting thing is the composition of the column. It consists of 99.72% iron and only 0.28% is impurities. There is almost no corrosion on the black-blue surface of the megalith (only barely noticeable spots).
The strange thing is that the production of pure iron is very difficult and is not done in large quantities. And iron of such purity, even having modern equipment, it’s simply not realistic to produce.

In 1890, on the eastern slope of the Middle Urals, northwest of Yekaterinburg, in the Shigir peat bog, an idol was found, which later became known as the large Shigir idol.

The Shigir idol is a completely unique archaeological monument. It has no analogues not only in the Urals, but also in the world! The Shigir idol is the oldest wooden sculpture on our planet, made in the eighth millennium BC - during the Mesolithic era, according to carbon analysis done in 1997. This archaeological miracle was preserved thanks to two factors. Firstly, the idol is made of durable larch. Secondly, the idol was found in a peat bog and peat, as a natural preservative, protected it from decomposition. Its height after reconstruction is 5.3 meters.

Stone atoms of antiquity?

There are five unusual carved stone balls in the collection of the Ashmolean Museum of Scotland. Archaeologists find it difficult to explain the purpose of these objects. They are made from various materials- sandstone and granite.

There is another possible explanation. Perhaps these stones are a schematic representation of atomic nuclei? This image of atoms is widely used in modern world. Is it possible that whoever made these artifacts had deep knowledge of chemistry and could depict various atomic structures?

At the very least, the method of making these artifacts leaves no doubt that the master was well versed in geometry, having a good understanding of complex polyhedra. However, it is generally accepted that during the Neolithic people did not possess such knowledge. Or is that not true?

"Genetic disk"

This disk contains several images of those processes that ordinary life can only be seen under a microscope.

This 6,000-year-old disk was found in the jungles of Colombia. The diameter of the disk is 27 centimeters and it is made of the material lidite or radiolarite, which is not inferior in hardness to granite. At the same time, it is layered and difficult to process. However, with pinpoint precision along the circumference of the disc - on both sides - the entire process of the birth of a human being is depicted - from the structure of the reproductive organs of a man and a woman, the moment of conception, the intrauterine development of the fetus through all its stages - to the birth of the baby. Scientists have seen many of these processes with their own eyes relatively recently, using appropriate instruments. But the authors of the disc possessed this knowledge perfectly.

The disk shows images of a man, a woman and a child, the strange thing here is the way the human head is depicted. If this is not a stylistic image, then what species do these people belong to?

Sotomayor's other findings are no less interesting. In particular, a “service” of thirteen bowls was discovered. Twelve of them have perfectly equal volume, and the thirteenth is much larger. If you fill 12 small bowls with liquid to the brim, and then pour them into a large one, then it will be filled exactly to the brim. All bowls are made of jade. The purity of their processing suggests that the ancients had a stone processing technology similar to a modern lathe.

So far, Sotomayor's findings raise more questions than they answer. But they once again confirm the thesis that our information about the history of the Earth and humanity is still very far from perfect.

The Piri Reis map is one of the most significant world maps ever found. Ottoman admiral Piri Reis created the map in 1513 - and, apparently, parts of it may have been used by Christopher Columbus himself. The map was discovered in 1929 and became an international sensation.

Stone head of Padilla

This giant stone head, which was discovered by Dr. Oscar Padilla in 1950, was almost forgotten by history.
