A boat is an indispensable element of fishing or summer holiday on the river. Of course, a good boat, even if it is a small boat, is quite an expensive pleasure. However, you can make it yourself from plywood, and this task is not as difficult as many might think.

In this article we will look at how to build a plywood boat yourself, which can diversify your vacation.

General information

To build a plywood boat you only need a simple set of tools that everyone has home handyman, and suitable material, patience and the desire to get a quality result.

It should be noted that in addition to ease of manufacture, plywood floating craft has many other advantages, such as:

  • light weight, which is very important, because before launching the boat into the water, you have to walk some distance. In its lightweight version, this product weighs 10-15 kg, so it can be easily carried by two adults. True, if the boat is made according to frame technology, the weight increases, however, it is still not critical for transferring over short distances;
  • depending on the type of project, the capacity of the boat is up to 5 people, which is quite enough for a small family;
  • If the manufacturing technology is followed, the design is strong and durable;
  • manufacturing a watercraft does not require large financial expenditures, since the price of all materials is quite affordable.

Therefore, if you have free time and the desire to build a boat, there is no reason to abandon this idea.

Tools and materials

Main characteristics future boat, such as strength and durability, depend on the plywood from which it is made. Therefore, its choice must be approached very responsibly.

Regular FK plywood, which is used for making furniture, is not suitable for these purposes. Therefore, it is best to use sheets of the following brands:

Brand Peculiarities
BS The veneer layers of this plywood are impregnated with bakelite glue. As a result, the material is resistant not only to water, but also to various aggressive environments, temperature changes, etc. negative impacts. The disadvantages include high price, besides, it is very difficult to find this brand on sale.
BC Bakelite varnish is used as an impregnation for veneer. Thereby this material It is also resistant to moisture and other negative influences, while its cost is slightly lower than the BK brand.
FSF It is made on the basis of phenol-formaldehyde resins. This brand is the cheapest and most accessible. Therefore, it is excellent for building a boat if it is not possible to purchase BS or BC sheets.

In addition to the type of plywood brand, when choosing, you should also pay attention to its quality:

  • there should be no gaps at the ends of the slabs;
  • There should be no knots or other defects on the surface.

Note!
You should not use plywood that is too thick, as the sheets must be flexible.
That's why optimal thickness is 5–6 mm.

In addition to plywood, you will also need some other materials:

  • boards and bars - must be dry and of high quality;
  • fiberglass - it is more convenient to purchase in a roll and then cut into pieces of the required size;
  • yacht varnish or waterproof paint.

As for the tools, the set is quite simple:

  • jigsaw;
  • sander;
  • plane;
  • hammer;
  • clamps;
  • tape measure and pencil;
  • putty knife.

Making a boat

Blueprints

Before you start work, you need to prepare drawings on how to build a boat with your own hands from plywood. I must say that on the Internet there is a large number of all kinds of projects. Some of them are also available on our portal.

However, before choosing optimal project, you should decide on the basic requirements for the watercraft, such as:

  • size and capacity of the boat;
  • appearance products;
  • the complexity of the design is selected depending on the level of your skill. If this is your first time doing this kind of work, it is better to take a simpler project.

Having decided on these requirements, you can consider existing boat designs for self-built from plywood, and choose the most suitable one. If necessary, they can be slightly adjusted according to individual wishes.

Sawing parts

So, we have sorted out the choice of project, now we are building a boat from plywood with our own hands. As an example, let's look at how the simplest punt is made from one.

You should begin work by marking and cutting out parts.

This process is carried out as follows:

  1. first of all, you need to mark the line of the bilge and transom (in diagram A, B, C);
  2. then a part of the sheet is cut along the marked line with a jigsaw;
  3. then the resulting blank should be applied to the opposite side and outlined with a pencil. Thus, it will serve as a template and ensure the symmetry of the boat. For convenience, the workpiece can be attached to the main sheet with clamps;
  4. then the second part of the sheet is cut along the intended line;

A boat is indispensable if you decide to go fishing or just spend time on the river with family or friends. After all, a boat gives you the opportunity not just to sail away in search of fish, but to move towards adventure and set sail on a romantic trip. Therefore, if there is an opportunity to take this vehicle, then it’s hardly worth giving up such pleasure. But it’s one thing to buy a boat, and quite another thing to make it yourself.

Plywood boats are quite practical and budget-friendly, which is why they are very popular.

After all, in order for a plywood boat, built with your own hands, to stand on the oars and ride the wave after several months, all you need is the availability of materials, tools, drawings, the desire to build a boat and patience. It is worth saying that making a plywood boat with your own hands is a painstaking task, but quite feasible.

Advantages

These include:

The weight of a plywood boat is only 10-15 kg.

  1. Light weight of the final structure, unlike, for example, boats. This is very important if you have to walk a short distance to a place of fishing or recreation, but there is no car. Weight plywood boat in the lightweight version it is 10-15 kg, which is light weight for 2 people. Of course, if the boat is built using frame technology, then its weight increases to 60 kg, which is significantly more, but not critical for transport over short distances.
  2. Compact design. A plywood boat is not massive, especially for small models called punts. Such a boat is not long, but quite wide, but it can be very well positioned for winter storage in the garage.
  3. Capacity. Plywood boats of medium construction have a capacity of 2 people, while the people inside the boat can freely change places and stand up if necessary. Small boats are designed for 1 person, but he does not experience any discomfort. However, frame boats made of planks that are covered with plywood sheets can accommodate up to 5 people. But still, it is better to avoid so many people inside the boat.
  4. Reliability of the design and sufficient simplicity during further operation.

Materials and tools

The main material for making a boat is plywood. Its veneer layers are glued together with phenolic glue under production conditions, which provides the required strength for making a boat with your own hands. The required plywood is marked FSF and is most often made of birch veneer. In order for the boat to turn out well, and not much effort was required to complete the work of sanding and finishing it, the plywood sheets must be of the highest grade.

If such grades are difficult to obtain or their cost is high, then when choosing plywood of a lower grade Special attention should pay attention to the quality of the ends plywood sheets. They should not have through gaps. Multiple knots and small holes are also not welcome. From the right choice plywood sheets depends not only on the quality of the boat, its characteristics, cost and time for Finishing work, but also the amount of required material and seams in finished product. Therefore, this process should be taken responsibly.

If the manufacture of individual parts of the boat requires the use of boards or bars, then they are chosen dry. In this case, there should be a minimum of flaws, defects, and damage.

It is more convenient to purchase fiberglass fabric, which is used for covering a boat, in a roll, and then, if necessary, you can cut it into pieces (when gluing joints and seams). A single piece of fiberglass should be used to finish the bottom.

For a boat made of plywood, you need to buy ship's varnish, as it will best protect the material from water.

Such Consumables, like glue, varnish, paint, must be purchased taking into account the fact that the material will be exposed to water for some time. So, it is better to take ship varnish, and not water-based paint.

Can be used as staples for fastening boat elements copper wire or plastic clips. That is, it should be a material that can be easily removed later.

From the tools for building a boat you need to prepare:

  • electric jigsaw with spare files;
  • Grinder;
  • plane;
  • hammer;
  • a long tape measure (preferably a metal ruler) and a pencil;
  • clamp;
  • brush for applying glue, varnish;
  • spray paint;
  • spatula for leveling fiberglass during gluing.

Making a boat

Once the materials have been purchased and the tools have been prepared, you can begin building the boat. If standard size plywood does not correspond to the size of the boat, then the sheets must be fastened together. The most reliable fastening method is miter splicing of plywood. In order to make such a connection, it is necessary to carry out a number of actions:

To make a boat, veneered plywood is used.

  1. Sheets of plywood are stacked on top of each other. Use a pencil to mark the final line of the mustache. Its length corresponds to 10-12 thicknesses of a plywood sheet.
  2. In order for the mustache to form correctly and be as even as possible, a limiting strip is secured to the plywood sheet with clamps. A mustache is formed along this plank using a plane. In this case, sudden changes in its length should not be allowed.
  3. After roughly shaping the mustache using grinding machine bring it to a perfectly smooth state. In this case, the sheets are constantly combined, making an exact fit.
  4. Glue is applied to the mustache, sheets of plywood are folded with treated planes on top of each other and secured with clamps. Additional weights can be placed on the seam to increase pressure.
  5. Excess glue is removed at this stage, preventing it from drying out.
  6. After the seam has set, you can free it from the clamps. But the glued sheet must remain for at least a day for the glue to completely harden.
  7. If the glue is still visible, remove it sandpaper. In this case, the seam is made smooth and almost invisible.

After the joints have dried, the plywood sheets are ready for cutting the boat. First, mark the bottom. A sheet of plywood is laid on flat surface and using a ruler and pencil, draw a drawing on a sheet. In this case, first a center line is drawn, then a grid is applied, and then the contours of the future boat are drawn along it.

After the outline of the boat is drawn, the cuts are made with a jigsaw. It is advisable that the jigsaw be high power, and the files were for figured cutting. This will allow you to make an even cut without tearing the edge of the sheet. The cut is made strictly along the marked line.

The boat parts are cut out using a jigsaw.

To cut the edges, it is enough to draw cutting lines on one of the sheets, and then securely fasten them with a clamp and cut them using a jigsaw. After cutting, the sheets are separated, and 2 sides are obtained. The transom is marked and cut out of a sheet of plywood in the same way.

To make the joints fit closer to each other, chamfers are made along the edges of the junction of the plywood sheets using a grinding machine. After this, you can begin sewing together the parts of the boat. This can be done using copper wire staples or plastic clamps. This must be done starting from the stern, moving towards the bow of the boat. This sequence of execution will allow you to bend the sheet gradually.

Wire or clamps are passed into holes, the distance between which is approximately 30 cm. If fastened with wire, then its ends are twisted using pliers, securely fixing the fastener. In this case, the ends of the wire or clamps should be outside the boat. It is necessary to fasten all elements: sides, transom.

After fastening is completed, check geometric dimensions boats. And then the clamps are tightened again more tightly. Spacers are placed in the places where the frames are installed so as not to disturb the geometry during further work.

To ensure that the adhesive seam is even, masking tape is applied at a distance of 5-10 cm from the joint line along the entire inner perimeter of the boat. Next, they begin gluing the seams from the inside of the boat. To do this, take glue, a brush, fiberglass, and a spatula. Fiberglass, if it is not initially cut into strips, is cut into pieces 5 cm long and 7 cm wide to apply one layer.

To make the joints fit together more tightly, you need to chamfer the edges of the plywood with a sanding machine.

After this, glue is applied to the joint with a brush, a piece of fiberglass is applied and the surface is leveled with a spatula so that wrinkles and bubbles do not form. The pieces of fiberglass fabric to be glued next to each other should overlap. After completing the first layer, make the second. In this case, the pieces of fiberglass are made slightly wider than for the previous layer. The seams are glued 2 times, and then a 3rd time to increase reliability. This must be done carefully and slowly. This is the most painstaking and time-consuming process in the entire construction of a boat.

After the seams have dried and firmly set, the fenders are attached along the upper edge of the boat, and the frames are attached to the glue inside. Overlays are attached to the transom to strengthen it.

Then, turning the boat upside down, remove the wire fasteners or plastic clips. The outer seam is rounded using a grinding machine. After this, these seams (side, nose) are glued in the same way as the internal ones, using fiberglass, glue and a spatula. The seams should be well saturated and set. As a result, after gluing and hardening along all seams, reliable fiberglass should form. A stem for the bow of the boat and a bench are cut out of plywood.

A do-it-yourself plywood motor boat is of interest to many of our compatriots for two reasons - creative nature and lower cost. Despite the apparent complexity of the project, it can be understood and brought to life.

But for this, a factor such as your desire to do this is extremely necessary. In addition, what you did yourself will be more valuable to you morally, so stay with us and we will show you a video in this article.

We make a small-sized watercraft

Note. We will not consider a specific design, for example, do-it-yourself drawings of a folding plywood boat.
Our goal is to tell you about general principles and methods for making small watercraft.

Required materials and tools

Plywood selection:

  • to make a boat from plywood with your own hands, you will naturally need this same plywood, only of different thicknesses;
  • for the hull you will need a sheet thickness of 5 mm, but for the keel and frame you will need 10-15 mm thickness(select the length of the panel depending on the length of the case);
  • as you understand, here we need quality products, therefore, you will have to choose either elite E or 1st grade for work– the price, of course, will be higher, but the quality will rise along with it;
  • in addition, it is important, on which the water resistance and strength of plywood depend - the most the best brands here we can call FSF or FSF-TV (flammable), FB and BS (aviation - also used in shipbuilding).

Solid wood:

  • to decorate the sides, install seats and arrange spacers inside the boat hull, you will need solid wood;
  • best suited for this purpose edged board made of pine - it is lighter than larch, but due to its resin content, it tolerates wetness well.

Suture material:

  • to tighten the body and connect other parts into a solid structure, you will need suture material;
  • for this you can use thin knitting steel or copper wire, thick nylon fishing line or plastic clamps.

Sealing:

  • in order to prevent the boat from leaking, all seams must be sealed with water-repellent glue - on this moment there are a lot of them sold;
  • as practice shows, compositions based on polymer resins are best suited for this purpose;
  • To seal seams, fiberglass is also used - a tape made from it is placed on the glue along the joint;
  • You can also use fiberglass for this purpose, covering the sides and bottom with it;
  • to protect against swelling, water-repellent varnishes and adhesives are used, impregnating the body and jumpers with them - for this you can, for example, use bakelite varnish or glue;
  • in addition to impregnation, you will also need polymer paint, which will complement moisture resistance and decorate your boat.

Tools:

  • to make a boat with your own hands from plywood, you will, of course, need tools and, first of all, this Circular Saw and/or an electric jigsaw (a hacksaw is also useful);
  • a set of hand carpentry tools in the form of a hammer, chisels, pliers, etc.;
  • disc or belt sanding machine;
  • tape or steel clamps;
  • paint brushes for applying impregnations and paints and varnishes.

Select a drawing

Important!
Before you start assembling, find the drawings that are suitable for your case - how to make a boat from plywood with your own hands, it could be a flat-bottomed fishing boat that you will use on weekends or a kayak for hiking during your vacation.
But if you are already experienced in “shipbuilding”, then you can try to draw such a project yourself, but here it is very important to calculate the carrying capacity so that the watercraft does not capsize during operation.

Not every fisherman can buy a watercraft, because the products are sold at high prices. And also not all models may meet certain buyer needs. The most budget models are rowing or motor rubber boats, but, as a rule, they are unreliable, and if damaged during fishing, unpleasant situation. Meanwhile, fishermen and swimmers increasingly began to make homemade boats with their own hands from wood or plywood.

Features of a homemade watercraft

From modern building materials you can build a boat for 2-3 people. Homemade fishing boats can be equipped with oars or a motor. Some people install a sail on the boat. Installing a motor on a watercraft is not difficult, but you need to understand that if you constantly visit small lakes or ponds, then having a motor will not be practical.

To make a boat with your own hands, craftsmen mainly use bars for the frame and plywood for covering the structure. If you are a fan of swimming in large bodies of water, then it is quite possible to build a full-fledged boat with a roof. This will also require plywood, timber and galvanized metal. To increase the life of the boat, treat the wood antiseptics and paint.

The boat is equipped with a motor if the vessel was made with high quality. Because when swimming at a significant speed, the structure may fall apart. However, a wooden boat is much better than inflatable models. Fishermen often swim in difficult places with snags, and for a rubber craft, this can result in snagging on branches and breaking the hull.

Tools and materials

First, find a large room to work in, such as a garage. Secondly, if you work in winter, the room must be heated. Also, there should not be a high concentration of moisture in the room, otherwise the plywood will not dry out, but rot. As a rule, coloring is done outdoors. To make homemade plywood boats for fishing, use the following tools and materials:

The most expensive things are plywood and timber, the rest costs much less. Electrical equipment can be borrowed from neighbors.

Parameters and details for the product

A rowing craft can be built at your discretion and to your own size. But according to the technology for building a boat with your own hands, it will be made of plywood 5 mm thick, so it is recommended to use the following parameters:

  • total width not less than 110 cm;
  • the length from beginning to end of the structure is 450 cm;
  • depth is 50 cm.

All structural parts are attached to the keel - this is the basic key element. The back of the boat is called the sternpost, and the bow is called the stem. Due to these elements, longitudinal rigidity is enhanced. These basic pieces can be made from solid wood using a jigsaw. And the cut out parts are connected using glue or self-tapping screws. Do not fasten parts with nails; this is an unreliable method.

The frames are transverse load-bearing elements designs, which form the hull of the boat. By connecting the sternpost, stem and frames, the sides of the craft are formed. At the final stage, the frame of the vessel is sheathed with plywood. Interior The product is equipped with a sling - this is especially true for the bottom, which should be protected as much as possible.

Motor designs

The layout of a motor vessel is practically no different from rowing and sailing models. The only thing is the back of the boat, on which the propeller motor is attached. This part of the vessel must be strong and reliable so that the motor does not become detached from the structure during sailing. Craftsmen recommend using a transom board for a boat motor.

Modernized vessels are being equipped additional elements- stringers, side stringers, cockpit and deck stringers. In order for the boat to be unsinkable and stable, it is necessary to create a layer between outside frame and inside. This emptiness is filling polyurethane foam. If the vessel capsizes, it will not flood or sink to the bottom. Therefore, experts strongly recommend using such a trick.

Creating Drawings

Drawings are an integral part of the work. Because the whole process always begins with well-designed diagrams intended for self-construction. If you find it difficult to draw sketches or have no desire, use ready-made diagrams, which are full on the Internet. When drawing up drawings, be as careful as possible and do not miss any detail. Make several sketches of the future boat according to the following rules:

Main task: draw everything necessary details and indicate their sizes. The third drawing is a sketch. On it you should draw the appearance of the boat in order to have an idea of what kind of watercraft you will get at the end.

Making a template

So, the drawings for the pattern of a plywood boat have been drawn up with your own hands and now you will have to make a template, which is designed to transfer the shape of the bottom onto the plywood. You will need to find sheets of cardboard and staple them together. Then, armed with drawings, you should draw the shape of the workpiece on paper. Then cut off all excess and attach the template to the sheets of plywood and trace it with a pencil or pen.

If the boat is made from solid wood, then you need to copy the design not against the direction of the fibers, but along the fibers. In this case, possible defects can be avoided. For plywood sheets, the direction of the fibers is random. Because this material is made by pressing wood chips. In simple terms: The bottom can be marked in any direction. But the template is mainly intended if you are going to build a punt boat.

Sequence of work

As in any other business, the entire work process is carried out in stages. The boat is no exception: to do high-quality construction, you will have to follow certain steps. How to make a boat out of wood - technological steps:

As you can see, the work process is labor-intensive, but it's worth it.

Step by step assembly

Prepare all material and tools. Check that everything is working properly electrical equipment. Also, when working with wood, you must have protective equipment: gloves and glasses. Be careful when cutting material with a circular saw.

Frame installation

First of all, cut the bars for the sides - futox. Then other bars are prepared, which will later form the sides of the vessel and bottom part. The bottom can be made using ship building technology, that is, round triangular shape, you can also build a regular punt. Then prepare the bars for the bow and stern.

In the next step you need to make the nose. Take some spacers and two long beams. They must be connected at one end with screws. Then a block is placed on the other side - this is the back of the boat. The part is also attached with screws. Then, in the middle of the back block, attach another block in a vertical position.

The completed boat frame needs to be shaped like a bullet. Take a couple of spacers and secure them crosswise near the bow. Then the frame is turned over with the block up, which was fixed on the backdrop, and lay the axial block, which will serve as a supporting part for the futoxes - stiffening ribs.

To do this, fasten one edge to the block on the back - its height will be 50 cm, and place the other edge of the block for the bottom at the nose of the frame. Now screw two short beams to the sidewalls and the central beam, stepping back from the edge by about 70-100 cm. You need to bend the fixed edge of the beam so that it turns out to be arched. Then it must be screwed to the nose of the frame.

Fastening the stiffeners

So, the frame is made and now you need to install the stiffeners. For these purposes, you will have to use spacers; one spacer is installed for each pair of stiffeners. This is necessary so that the sidewalls turn out round shape. As a rule, the bars are used with small diameters, capable of bending without special reinforcements.

The work starts from the stern. Screw the first block to the side, and then the second to the other side of the future boat. Now a spacer is installed between them and two ribs are fixed to the central beam. Try to bend the material carefully, otherwise a break may occur.

The stiffening ribs should be installed in increments of 30 cm. When you reach the bow of the boat, do not remove the installed spacers yet. Measure the depth of the boat to 20 cm. Place marks on two sides. You need to screw two long beams along the sidewalls, which will more firmly connect the stiffening ribs. Then install several spacers between the two along the passing parts. Remove the remaining spacers.

Now you need to strengthen all the joints. Take advantage metal corners and self-tapping screws. In the bow part, step back 50 cm from the edge and screw the jumper. You also need to strengthen the nose and drill a hole at the very edge with a drill, and then tighten the structure with a bolt and nut. After this, we can assume that the skeleton of the ship is ready.

Covering the frame with plywood

In this step, turn the boat upside down and begin sheathing the sides. It is necessary that the applied material is completely adjacent to the stiffeners. The plywood is secured with self-tapping screws. There should be enough material to reach from the top of the sidewall to the bottom of the boat.

As a rule, sheets are produced in sizes of 150 cm, so there will be at least two joints on the boat. The very bottom edge of the boat will look like a rounded triangle. Along the entire length you will have to fasten a strip of zinc at least 50 cm wide.

After the outer skin, take several cans of polyurethane foam. You need to foam the layer to the width of the bar. Foam in all places and leave no voids. Then make the inner lining. So that the boat is not too heavy, for internal lining use chipboard sheets - they are thinner and lighter than plywood.

Taping joints and painting

At the end, you will have to tape all the joints of the outer casing. The seams are filled until the glue begins to flow out. For a better effect, apply a layer to the joints silicone sealant. This will protect the structure from water penetration.

On last stage The watercraft is painted with water-repellent paint. But before that, check the case for chips and cracks. If there are such defects, they need to be covered with putty. Some craftsmen cover the entire body with fiberglass and then paint it. A primary primer layer and a secondary color layer are applied.

Now the motor is installed and all you have to do is wait until the structure is completely dry, after which you can test the homemade product by sailing it around the lake. If you find any problems, fix them.

Attention, TODAY only!

Buy good boat maybe not everyone, because the prices are quite high. In addition, not all designs may suit the needs of their clients. If you take it apart inflatable boat, then it's not very reliable means for movement, because such a boat can easily be damaged in difficult conditions. This means that they are not suitable for good fishing. In this option, the decision is made to try to make a homemade boat.

Homemade plywood fishing boats have their own number of advantages:

  • Firstly, plywood is simple, dense and very warm material. It is almost impossible to destroy such a model, and it weighs little.
  • Secondly, unlike rubber ones, there is enough space in a plywood model for a couple of people.
  • Thirdly, being in a boat made of wood, you practically do not feel discomfort.

The main material from which standard boats are made is considered plywood. There are no difficulties with finding it on sale.

First, it is worth remembering that any activity that is related to independent creation of a certain means (be it a tractor or something else), must go specifically according to the chosen scheme. In this case, you should have drawings of homemade models with you. Sometimes drawings can be replaced with a special design.

To create the case you will need to take simple boards with a thickness of 2 cm and 6 mm plywood sheet. The width of the material for the stern and sides should be 30 cm. These are the most suitable dimensions for the boat. All other parts that will be inside the product (seats and spacers) are made of material with a width of 2.5 cm and a length of 86.4 cm. It must be remembered that the dimensions of all these parts must be fully maintained, since they are all attached to to the model body only with self-tapping screws. Creating all the parts of this design will definitely not cause any problems.

This can be explained by their easy geometric shape. During the work process, you need to pay attention to the fit of the joined parts and the frill. All joining parts must be level and have only small gaps along the entire length. Used as fasteners various screws. Regarding the size of such fasteners: it all depends on the place of use. They may be as follows:

  • 3 by 26 and 3 by 18 mm - for covering a vehicle;
  • 4 by 60 and 5 by 64 mm - for all other parts of the structure (for example, seats, feed and side).

The bottom of the model is made of a sheet of plywood with 6 mm thick. But due to the fact that this part of the boat will be partially exposed to aquatic environment, to protect the product, the joints of the body and the bottom still need to be treated with the substance “VIAM-B/3” and secured with screws.

If this substance is not available, you can take it as a replacement. oil paint. Although it does not glue perfectly, it can give strong and reliable coverage. It is worth saying that the distance between the screws should be about 4 cm.

External seams should be well taped with fabric using AK-20. In order not to destroy the bottom of the model, a special grid is placed between the spacers.

Many people wonder how to make a boat out of plywood themselves. Boats with a motor do not differ much in their basic characteristics compared to models designed to move under oars. The only difference is in the organization of space for mounting the engine. Basically, a special board is fixed at the stern, where the motor for the boat is installed.

Certain parts of small ships can be equipped with other parts, for example, a cockpit, deck stringers, and so on. To improve strength and unsinkability, certain gaps can be installed in models, which must be filled with polyurethane foam. This approach helps eliminate the possibility of vehicle flooding.

Painting the plywood body of the product is a rather interesting and serious moment. This is done correctly in the following sequence:

  • The body needs to be primed. Drying oil must be real. It is heated to the boiling stage and immediately removed from the surface of the stove. Using a large brush, warm drying oil is applied to all parts of the body on the outer and inner parts.
  • After priming with drying oil, you will need to wait for final absorption.
  • And finally, the boat is painted.

Great combination color range- white and red. The bottom up to the waterline needs to be painted white shade. Red should go higher.

For homemade model make an area for mounting the engine. It is cheaper and easier to use oars. The material for the oar can be a birch board with a thickness of 35 mm. A spike with a handle is placed at the end of the spindle. Special pads can be used to protect the edges of the blades. Next, you can prime the paddle and paint it. Boats homemade type can be designed in different ways.

A do-it-yourself fishing boat made from plywood can surpass plastic and rubber models in its “survivability”. Such a boat will operate for fifteen to twenty years. Create a boat yourself and enjoy fishing. And, of course, before starting work, you should decide what kind of boat you still need: collapsible or folding.
