Metal-plastic windows, the difference is in the quality of the profile. How to choose a suitable window profile. The most common are

Currently on the Russian market window products, despite the ever-increasing number of sales of wooden and aluminum structures, leadership remains behind plastic windows. This is facilitated by a lot of advantages that PVC products have. The main ones, of course, are excellent heat and noise insulation, long service life, and the ability to use additional accessories, increasing the functionality of the window ( mosquito net, thermometer, etc.), as well as a great appearance coupled with an affordable price.

As you know, the basis of plastic windows is the profile. In the entire light-transmitting structure, its share accounts for approximately 10% of the total area of the product. The remaining 90% is occupied by double glazing.

It is no secret that all PVC profiles included in the windows sold are the same. To pick up best option, which would fully meet the requirements for appearance, level of sound and heat insulation, as well as price, the buyer needs to have an understanding of each window element and be able to freely operate with technical terms associated with each of its components.

In this article we will take a detailed look at the main points that you should pay attention to when choosing a window profile, describe its design, and explain the meaning of basic technical terms.

How many cameras should a plastic window have?

When considering the characteristics of the model of light-transmitting PVC construction you are interested in, Special attention Three points should be taken into account:

  • profile;

The most significant characteristic of a profile is its chamberness, that is, how many chambers it consists of. Their number directly determines how well the plastic profile retains heat.

Profile with three cameras. For residents of regions where cool weather conditions reign most of the year, the most preferable option is a three-chamber window profile. Three chambers reliably protect the structure from blowing, which means they perfectly retain heat in the room. In addition to this, they have a built-in metal frame designed to strengthen the plastic sidewalls. Three-chamber profile plastic window, as a rule, has a width of 5.8 cm.

Profile with four or five cameras. Products that contain four are either intended primarily for use in areas of the country where the summer season is not long and the temperature conditions clearly leave much to be desired. The protection provided by a profile with such an increased number of chambers copes with even the lowest temperatures (30 C and below). Therefore, inside the room, glazed with windows with a multi-chamber profile, it will be warm and cozy in any weather. It is worth noting that the use of such windows in warm regions of the country is little justified due to: mild weather conditions; prices that significantly exceed the cost of their three-chamber “brothers”.

Single-chamber and double-chamber profiles. They are mainly used for glazing apartments and private houses located in the southern part of Russia. A design flaw that prevents them from low temperatures Their ability to efficiently retain heat is more than compensated for by their price - it is significantly lower than the cost of plastic window models, the profile of which has a larger number of chambers.

Structural elements of plastic profiles. Clicking on the mouse enlarges the image.

As a result. If you need maximum protection from the cold, opt for plastic window models with a 4 or 5 chamber profile. If there is no need for maximum heat conservation in a glazed room, for example, in the southern regions of the country, where hot weather, you should choose one- or two-chamber PVC structures.

For most buyers, the most the best solution for the home there will be the purchase of three-chamber systems.

Criteria for selecting a profile, depending on its thickness.

Sectional profile. Click to enlarge.

An important characteristic of a PVC profile is its thickness. It depends, first of all, on the number of chambers and indirectly speaks about the ability of a window to retain heat: the wider the profile the warmer it is, as a rule.

When choosing optimal width profile of a plastic window, it is necessary to take into account that there is only a large number of options, from which the following should be highlighted:

58 mm. The profile, 5.8 cm wide, is the most popular on the Russian window market. Compared to other, thicker brothers, it stands out due to its low price and fairly tolerable characteristics. As they say - cheap and cheerful. However, if the buyer pursues the goal of glazing a window opening without pretensions to super-results, then plastic window models with a 58 mm profile will fully satisfy his desire.

70 mm. The profile width of 7.0 cm allows the product to accommodate from 3 to 5 cameras. This thickness is more than enough to provide the glazed room with the appropriate level of heat and sound insulation.

90 mm. The widest profile option for PVC windows, which best copes with the issue of heat retention in the apartment. Contains up to 6 cameras. The main disadvantage of this 9.0 cm solution is its price, which is significantly higher than other similar products that have a smaller thickness.

There are also designs whose profile width is quite impressive 110-130 mm! Such windows are also called “Danish” or “Dutch”. They are, so to speak, designed for the amateur.

Cross-section of a double-glazed window.

A double-glazed window, as mentioned above, occupies about 90% of the area of the entire window. Today, there are three types of double-glazed windows, differing in the number of glasses installed in them:

  • Single glass option. Not suitable for installation in residential buildings due to the presence of insufficient characteristics of such a double-glazed window. The main flaws in the design of single-glazed windows are poor heat retention, as well as the lack of protection from. With the onset of the cold season, such disadvantages can contribute to the cooling of the room, as well as the formation of an impressive layer of ice on the glass.
  • Double glass design. It represents the most optimal solution for installation in an apartment, or a private house due to the good price-performance ratio. The so-called heat loss is practically eliminated, and heat in a glazed room is retained much better than when using a double-glazed window that contains only one glass.
  • Three glass solution. With installed triple glazing, you can achieve not only the greatest heat savings, but also maximum protection of the apartment from all kinds of noise entering its territory from the street. Triple glazing has only two disadvantages - high cost and.

From the above information it follows that for most buyers the best option There will be a purchase of double-glazed windows, which will contain three glasses. If you lack funds, you can opt for double-glazed windows, which have the best price/quality ratio.

Selection of profile depending on manufacturer and class.

When choosing a suitable window profile, in addition to its characteristics, you should take into account its brand and class. Regarding the manufacturers of this type of product, it can be noted that today on the domestic window market you can find a fairly large number of brands producing various models plastic windows, differing in their constituent elements and, accordingly, characteristics.

Important! Most complete this question covered in our previous materials entitled “” and “”.

Now a few words about choosing a profile class. There are two classes of such products:

Profile class A can be used both in residential buildings and geometrically complex facade structures. It has a long service life and has a wall thickness of at least 3 mm.

Class A profile. Click to enlarge.

Due to design features Class B profile is usually considered a budget solution. The main factor influencing the price is the presence of a thin wall of the product. It is precisely because of the savings on the thickness of the material used for the chamber wall that manufacturers of PVC profiles class B were able to keep prices for their products extremely low. Price comes at a price, however, the buyer should remember that such marketing ploy cannot but affect the service life of a plastic window equipped with such a profile - the service life of the system will be significantly shorter.

To summarize all of the above, I would like to draw attention to a very obvious fact: all the elements of a plastic window are interconnected. Making a choice in favor warm double glazing, you should also take care of purchasing a warm window profile. Otherwise, the design, due to significant differences in technical characteristics, may turn out to be unbalanced.

What is a quality profile?

The key to the quality and durability of a metal-plastic window is a high-quality PVC profile. Even if at first glance they are all the same, in reality this is far from the case.

The entire profile from which windows are made is certified.

The ISO 9001:2000 quality management system certificate is issued to production facilities that have competent organized system management in compliance with all technological, economic and organizational requirements characteristic of production in developed countries. Both Russian factories VEKA have this certificate.

Wider, more reliable, warmer

The width of the profile is one of its main characteristics. Many window manufacturers promise a couple of extra millimeters to the profile width in their advertising campaigns, but are they really useful?

The most common offers on the market are:

  • classic profile 58 mm;
  • 70 mm profile with increased installation width;
  • profile VEKA SOFTLINE 82

The width of 58 mm is due to the “classics of the genre” - wooden frames, which were replaced by plastic windows. The EUROLINE 58 mm profile allows us to produce modern warm windows that satisfy the requirements of most buyers in different climatic zones. When manufactured and installed correctly, this is the best profile for windows in any room.

The 70 mm wide profile is a proposal that appeared in the 80s of the last century. Having higher heat saving soundproofing characteristics, this profile was especially loved by Russian consumers. In the product group of VEKA profiles with a width of 70 mm, they have SOFTLINE, SWINGLINE and PROLINE.

Now another new product has appeared on the market - the SOFTLINE 82 profile. The innovative multi-chamber system, elegant style and the ability to choose from more than 40 modifications guarantee that the needs of the most discerning client will be satisfied. The SOFTLINE 82 system provides the best insulating properties, is fully compatible with 70 mm profiles and can be installed in any home.

The choice of profile width for a window largely depends on the installation location (office window, vestibule door, Entrance door to the store, windows in country house) and climate.

Chamber… ensemble

The second characteristic of a window is the number of cameras in the profile. There are three of them in the standard. The first is for draining condensate, the second is for placing a reinforcing metal liner, and the third is for securing parts of the fittings and creating additional air gap for better window sealing. The number of chambers depends on the profile width. So, a 58 mm profile can have a maximum of three cameras, but a 70 mm profile can preferably have four. For a 90 mm profile, six chambers are the norm.

Increasing the number of cameras with the same profile width does not significantly change the characteristics of the window. To improve heat-saving characteristics, a wider profile is needed, and not a larger number of partitions in it.

Full package

Another important point- double-glazed window. The number of glasses in a window affects its characteristics and cost. The most common are double glazing, but you can order windows with single glazing or triple glazing.

Three-chamber windows are warmer, but they weigh more and require high-quality installation and stable design. Single-glazed windows are the coldest. It can be used for glazing unheated balconies, as well as summer houses. Double glazing is optimal for technical specifications, and allows you to maintain indoor comfort all year round.

Real class

There are two classes of metal-plastic profiles. The first, class A with a thickened outer wall as the best profile for windows, doors and frame glazing.

The second, class B, is a lightweight profile with a thinner outer wall, the so-called “object” profile. He has a few more low cost, however, does not guarantee that the characteristics of the window will be maintained throughout its operation. Windows made from an “object” profile, as an economical option, can be offered by absolutely all manufacturers, but you must remember that such a window may have weaker corner connections, worse dimensional stability, lower energy-saving characteristics, the risk of premature wear of fittings, and a shorter service life.

Important takeaway

To summarize the discussion on the topic of choosing a profile for a metal-plastic window, we emphasize:

  • The presence of certificates confirms quality.
  • According to the installation width, all profiles are divided into two main classes: 58, 64 mm and 70-76 mm. Within the class, the thermal characteristics are the same. The 68 mm wide profile and the 72 mm wide profile do not differ from each other.

    The number of cameras affects the quality of the window only if the profile belongs to different width classes.

    The most common is double glazing.

    Class A profile is a leader in reliability and quality.

When choosing a profile for plastic windows, be able to hear the necessary information and filter out advertising. The quality of your windows depends on your choice. Take your time to make the right choice!

Plastic windows firmly occupy the leading position. They differ in the highest level of heat and sound insulation, in addition, they give the choice of fittings, window opening method and profile colors. It is also possible to choose a double-glazed window with the required number of cameras. However, not many people think that a specific window profile guarantees the strength and durability of the entire system. In this article we will compare plastic window profiles that differ in features and manufacturers.

General information about the profile of plastic windows

On average, the profile thickness of plastic windows varies from 58 mm to 86 mm, but some companies create a product with a width of 127 mm.

Its internal shot is hollow, but is separated by bridges, creating a number of light chambers. A special industrial calculation describes their dimensions and placement. The more spacious the profile, the more it contains the number of chambers that increase heat-saving characteristics. Another feature of the profile system is the width of the filling, which describes what type of double-glazed windows can be defined in the profile. They come in one- or two-chamber type, the width of the glass in a regular double-glazed window is 4 mm (grade M1).

Any cavity has a similar purpose:

  • for draining water;
  • fastening accessories;
  • gives an answer for strength, etc.

Profile paint can be varied; colors are applied using several methods:

  • co-extrusion method - multilayer films create a certain barrier that allows the product to endure dynamic overloads without defects;

  • lamination - imitating the structure, for example, marble or wood;
  • monochromatic coloring.

Properties of PVC profiles for plastic windows

Material

  • This piece is made from a variation of plastic - snow-white polyvinyl chloride.
  • The material used is distinguished by its highest resistance to chemical action by alkalis, solvents, acids and mineral oils.
  • It is harmless to humans and the surrounding environment.

  • Polyvinyl chloride thanks to its own characteristic properties allows you to make frames for double-glazed windows not only rectangular or square shape, however, also in the form of arches, triangles, circles and so on. Thus, giving any elementary or complex configuration to the window, allowing even the most extraordinary ideas of artists and architects to be realized.

Design

The internal grain of the plastic profile body is divided by longitudinal fences; in their own order, they form cavities (weightless chambers). The smallest number of chambers in the profile is 3, the largest is 8. The number of chambers describes the level of thermal insulation and sound absorption of the window; the lighter the cavities, the greater these characteristics. It should be immediately noted that 3- and 5-chamber profiles are used for their reputation.

Reinforcement

To provide rigidity, the profile is specially reinforced. The iron base guarantees the required strength of the system and the inviolability of the window during operation. To reinforce the profile, zinc-coated steel is used, so it does not deform in any way due to temperature changes or other actions of the surrounding environment.

  • L-shaped reinforcement category - an iron insert is installed along two walls;
  • U-shaped reinforcement discharge, where the alloy increases 3 walls;
  • Hidden reinforcement discharge - an iron insert is placed along 4 walls.

For window systems that have double-glazed windows with a volume of 1900 mm in height, a U-shaped reinforced profile is suitable. But for plastic windows of huge dimensions, for example, for a terrace or balcony, you need a profile with closed reinforcement.

Profile class

The thickness of the profile walls describes its accessory to a specific class:

  • Class A - the thickness of the profile walls must be at least 3 mm;
  • Class B - profile in which the wall thickness is from 2.5 mm;
  • Class C - non-standardized wall thickness.

As a result, the width of the profile of plastic windows directly depends on its class. The larger it is, the correspondingly more spacious the profile.

  • KBE profile The specialist has additional horizontal jumpers, thanks to which the handles and hinges will become firmly fixed;
  • with the device, the prefabricated seam is approximately 20% more spacious, allowing for additional insulation in its own right.

Approximate price of windows from KBE profile

An important reason when choosing this or another double-glazed window is its cost. It is often considered decisive, but German window profiles of the highest quality cannot be inexpensive. Below is the approximate market price in Russia.

  • On average, a single-chamber double-hung window with a volume of 140x130 cm, in which 1 sash has a dull appearance and the other is tilt-and-turn, will deserve:
  1. from a 58 mm profile from RUB 7,500,
  2. from 70 mm - from 10,000 rub.

  • The cost of a two-chamber three-leaf window with a volume of 140x203 cm, in which the 1st sash is rotary, the central one has a dull appearance, the 3rd one is tilt-and-turn, will be from:
  1. from 58 mm profile 13,000 rubles;
  2. from 70 mm 14500 rub. and more.

  • When purchasing a balcony block with a drop-down door with a volume of 210x67 cm and a blind window - 140x136 cm, you need to pay no less than:
  1. from profile 58 mm 10500 rub.
  2. from 70 mm from 12,000 rub.

What to focus your interest on when choosing a plastic profile with double-glazed windows

To find the required profile thickness, you must have basic knowledge about double-glazed windows, since up to 70% of heat losses occur specifically through it.

This colorless substance consists of 2 or more glasses, which are hermetically combined with the frame. Between them a room appears (a light strip), filled with rarefied air or an inert gas, such as argon or krypton. This type of filling is used in the production of energy-saving double-glazed windows.

A single-chamber double-glazed window is a system of 2 glasses of 4 mm each and a weightless layer of 16 mm; in its incomplete form it is classified - 4-16-4. Thus, its installation width is the same 24 mm. The system, the same 36 mm, comes out of a two-chamber double-glazed window, which consists of 3 glasses of 4 mm each and 2 layers of 10 mm each - 4-10-4-10-4.

Consequently, an appropriate profile is selected for the required double-glazed window. For example, optimal solution for an ordinary apartment or house, a 5-chamber profile with a 70 mm installation width and a 30 mm double-glazed window will serve, where a heat-reflecting coating should be applied to one glass.

If the windows face the north side and there is a busy road nearby, then in this case the following option is suitable: a 5-chamber profile with a depth of 86 mm, supplemented with a 32 mm double-glazed window with a protective noise-insulating film.

When a balcony (gallery) is connected to an adjacent space or it is planned to make a small office (rest room) out of it, then the profile must be 5-chamber with an installation depth of 86 mm, and the double-glazed window must be energy-saving, two-chamber with a width not less than 40 mm.

For conventional insulation of a balcony, a 60 mm 3-chamber profile and a 30 mm single-chamber double-glazed window are suitable.

However, it’s not enough to simply choose the best PVC profile and double-glazed window. It is no less important to entrust the installation of finished windows to experts. Otherwise, no matter how precious the system may be, a bad installation will nullify all its highest properties.

When installing a window unit, a profile system is selected. Although the profile occupies no more than 20% of the product area, this is the main component on which the reliability and durability of windows depends. Externally, all profiles do not differ much from each other, but the difference is hidden in the structure of the structure and the material of manufacture.

Peculiarities

The design of a window includes 3 parts - profile, glass and fittings. A window profile is a stable support that holds a double-glazed window. It is used to make window frames and sashes that carry the load of the entire structure.

The profile has the following characteristics:

  • The manufacturing material must have a low thermal conductivity coefficient so that the frame does not freeze.
  • The level of thermal expansion must correspond to the coefficient of thermal linear expansion of the glass. It is 0.000009 m/m°C. The difference in expansion of the profile and glass should be minimal so that there is no tensile load on the materials. This leads to premature wear of the seal.
  • High level of elastic modulus. Various weather conditions can lead to deformation of the structure. The higher the elasticity of the profile, the great strength stress the material can withstand.

Profile structures are made of various structures. Profiles can be solid or hollow. Solid ones are made from solid material, usually wood. The hollow structures are separated from each other by partitions, forming chambers. The bridges between the chambers serve as stiffening ribs, increasing the strength of the profile.

The chamber adjacent to the street serves as a drain for condensate formed from temperature changes. The central large cavity bears the main load on the body. The camera adjacent to the room is intended to be installed window fittings. Each chamber, filled with air or other heat-insulating material, performs heat-insulating functions.

Additional chambers are needed to improve sound and heat insulation characteristics.

Kinds

Window profiles vary according to the type of material from which they are made. There are profile systems the following types:

  • wooden;
  • aluminum;
  • fiberglass;
  • polyvinyl chloride.

Different types of trees are a classic, proven material for making window frames. To assemble the profiles, they take laminated veneer lumber from cedar, pine, larch, oak, and alder. The tree meets all the characteristics required for a window profile. The thermal conductivity coefficient is on average 0.2 W/m*K, the elastic modulus is 9-10 GPa. When heated, it does not expand, but under the influence of high temperatures it can ignite.

When installing wooden profiles, the following advantages can be highlighted:

  • comfortable indoor microclimate thanks to natural air exchange of up to 2.7 m3 per day;
  • wood does not attract dust, as there is no electrostatics;
  • aesthetic appeal;
  • the strength of the structure determines the density of the wood - 0.5-0.6 t/m3;
  • the ability to repair surface defects;
  • Depending on the type of wood, the service life is from 30 to 90 years.

Wood structures retain heat well and are environmentally friendly.

To get a quality product, you need to take into account the features when working with the material. Additional drying and treatment with antiseptic and fire-retardant primers lead to an increase in the cost of wooden windows. The downside is that it swells when high humidity. When the temperature and humidity environment in the room changes, condensation may occur. The accumulation of moisture leads to stains on the wood.

Aluminum profiles are light and durable, consisting of two or three chambers. The main advantage when using them is fire safety. A metal window has high thermal conductivity - 140-190 W/m*K, which makes it unsuitable for use in harsh conditions northern conditions.

To increase heat capacity, the design of aluminum profiles includes a thermal insert made of polyamide, which leads to massiveness and increased cost of the product. The high elasticity coefficient (up to 70 GPa) allows its use in glazing retail premises, public buildings, balconies.

The fiberglass profile is made of PVC and fiberglass, which gives special structural strength, corrosion resistance and chemical inertness. A glass composite with a thermal conductivity of 0.3 W/m*K has a thermal expansion coefficient of 5-14*10-6 m/m*C, which corresponds to the glass level. An elasticity coefficient of 20-40 GPa allows for good resistance to stress during deformation of the profile structure.

Widespread I did not receive the fiberglass profile due to high cost. It is one third higher than popular plastic analogues. Also, the production of glass composite windows is complex. The lack of flexibility of the material does not allow it to be used for the manufacture of solid arched elements.

Polyvinyl chloride profile structures can be made entirely of polyvinyl chloride or reinforced with a metal liner. Often profiles with reinforcement are called metal-plastic. Galvanized steel with a thickness of 1.5-2 mm is used for the insert. The metal imparts strength to the profile structure, neutralizes the expansion of polyvinyl chloride when heated, increases elasticity and resistance to stress and deformation.

The type of reinforcement is determined by the size and weight of the entire window. Structures with a profile length of less than two meters can be equipped with an open-loop liner, where two or three walls are reinforced. For a massive window, a closed-circuit metal insert is installed. There is no reinforcement for profiles smaller than 60-70 cm.

PVC profiles have the following technical characteristics:

  • Low thermal conductivity of 0.15-0.16 W/m*K allows it to be a leader among all materials.
  • The density is more than 2 times higher than wood - 1.4 t/m3.
  • The high linear expansion coefficient of 60-70 10-6 m/m*C and the low elastic modulus of 2.8 GPa are compensated by profile reinforcement.
  • Chemical resistance to alkalis and fats. Relative resistance to solvents and acids.
  • The number of chambers is from 3 to 8. Chambering affects the heat-insulating and noise-absorbing qualities, strength and rigidity of the structure.
  • The filling width determines the type of glass unit being installed. Depth seat from 15 mm inwards allows the glass not to fog up or freeze.
  • Operating temperature – from -60 to +75 degrees.
  • The flexibility of the material allows you to give any geometric shape, even a circle.

PVC profiles can be painted in different colors. Standard color is single color White color in bulk. Color changes are also possible when laminating with films of different shades. The color will adhere more firmly to the surface when applying a color film using the co-extrusion method.

According to GOST 30674-99, for window blocks made of polyvinyl chloride profiles, the thickness of the internal and external walls differs by class:

  • Class A with external walls - more than 2.8 mm, thickness of internal walls - more than 2.5 mm;.
  • Class B has a wall thickness of more than 2.5 mm and 2.0 mm, respectively;
  • Class C does not have strict standards for the thickness of the case.

The outer walls form the body of the profile; they are visible from the indoors and outdoors. One inner wall adjacent to the mounting wall, the other is located inside the structure and serves as a support base for the double-glazed window.

Plastic profiles stand out for their positive qualities:

  • resistance to high humidity;
  • anti-corrosion qualities of the material;
  • don't burn out from sun rays;
  • environmentally friendly, do not emit harmful substances for human health;
  • service life up to 40 years;
  • They are easy to care for and wash.

Among negative aspects the structure is completely sealed, which prevents air circulation in the room and promotes the formation of condensation on the double-glazed windows.

Frequent ventilation of the room will help eliminate the deficiency, if additional ventilation is not installed. Also, plastic cannot be repaired and scratches cannot be masked.

Dimensions

The width of the profile system, called the installation depth, can vary from 58 to 124 mm.

The following profile sizes are available:

  • 58 mm – classic version compliant with standards;
  • 70-80 mm – extended modification for high-rise glazing with improved thermal insulation characteristics;
  • 90 mm – energy-saving profile with 5-6 chambers and the ability to install double-glazed windows up to 5 cm.

In a three-chamber profile, the width is 58-60 mm. More cameras require a frame thickness greater than 70mm. With a narrow profile, the size of the installed glass unit cannot be more than 32 mm. As the installation depth increases, the thickness of the glazing expands, increasing the thermal insulation of the window.

A large profile width does not always correspond to multi-chamber design. A capacious design with 3-4 chambers retains heat better since the air volume is larger.

How to choose?

When choosing a window profile, you first need to decide on the material of manufacture. If aesthetically important attractive appearance and high standards of environmental safety, there is no better choice than a wooden profile. Modern fiberglass and aluminum windows are suitable for a progressive design interior. A polyvinyl chloride profile system may be an acceptable solution.

The selection is made according to the following criteria:

  • Profile size. It is characterized by the installation width and is determined by the installation location and operating conditions.
  • Available budget.
  • Number of cameras.
  • Products have a certificate.
  • Depth and width of the glass unit seat, profile class.
  • Availability of reinforcement.
  • Appearance and color.

The most important indicator for maintaining heat in a house is the width of the profile.

It depends on atmospheric conditions local climate. In the southern regions, you can install a narrow profile with a depth of 58-60 mm. In temperate climates, systems with a width of 70-84 mm are suitable. In harsh northern conditions, it is preferable to install an energy-saving profile with a width of 90 mm or more.

You also need to consider the location of the profile system. For an unheated balcony or loggia, a narrow profile of 58 mm or less is suitable. On high-rise floors a profile of 70 mm is installed. For public and commercial buildings, a profile with a depth of 58-70 mm is suitable. For suburban individual construction, 70-90 mm systems are used.

For many consumers, the main criterion for choosing a window profile is its price. Therefore, when choosing well-known brands of profiles produced abroad, the cost may not coincide with the planned budget. In such a situation, the best solution would be a profile that meets all the characteristics, produced in Russia.

Depending on the price category, there are several classes of profiles:

  • economy;
  • standard;
  • exclusive;
  • elite

Economy class profile structures are the most budget-friendly with low quality and thermal insulation characteristics, a width of no more than 58 mm and wall thickness of class B or C. Class Standard complies with GOST and European standards, three-chamber, with a width of 58-60 mm. The best solution in terms of quality and price.

Elite profiles with an installation depth of 70-80 mm allow you to mark 40 mm glass, class A walls, 5 chambers. Thermal insulation is 15-20% higher than that of Standard profiles. The exclusive profile system is 2 times warmer than the elite one. The most expensive choice, emphasizing the status of the owner. Width 86-90 mm, 6-7 chambers and double-glazed windows up to 5 cm. The number of chambers corresponds to the width of the profile. A 58mm profile cannot contain more than three cameras. The depth of 70 mm allows you to accommodate from 3 to 5 air chambers. The 90 mm profile has 6-7 chambers. The same profile width, containing a different number of chambers, has little effect on the thermal insulation characteristics of the entire block.

High-quality window profiles have a RAL certificate. A certified product is the key to long-term operation and compliance with all manufacturing cycles. The factories where the products are manufactured also receive an ISO9001: 2000 quality management certificate. The thickness of the glass unit, which is installed in the seat, is associated with the profile dimensions. Its depth should be more than 1.8 cm, increasing with increasing depth. The most optimal in terms of characteristics is double glazing.

The durability of the profile structure depends on the class of profile wall thickness. Class A profiles provide strong welding seams and solid structure. Class B is able to provide the necessary reliability to small window units. Although class C is widely used for budget construction, its strength is low, the corner connecting seams are thin, and the tendency to deformation and distortion reduces its service life.

Reinforcement increases the strength characteristics and load on the profile. This is especially important for massive, heavy structures. It is imperative to make sure that the profile is reinforced.

The quality of the plastic can be characterized by its appearance. It is smooth to the touch, without chips or scratches. It should have visible stains and uniform color. The choice of color depends on the interior of the room. Many manufacturers offer a variety of color solutions.

Experienced way It has been verified that the best price-quality ratio will be a metal-plastic system. In addition to choosing quality products, you need to take care of the technician who will install the window unit, because 70% of successful operation depends on proper installation. An important characteristic is the seal in the profile. For Russian climatic conditions there should be 2-3 sealing circuits; this is the only way to maintain high thermal insulation performance in severe frosts.

Rubber compressor between the profile and the double-glazed window will last longer than polyurethane.

To maintain the temperature and humidity microclimate in the room, ventilation dampers and slots can be installed on the profile. The profile has special grooves and recesses with which the fittings are secured with self-tapping screws. Thanks to them, the self-tapping screw does not move during installation, being fixed in the adjacent chamber.

Since reinforcement is a prerequisite for imparting strength to polyvinyl chloride, you need to check its presence during installation. A magnet will help with this. If the walls are not magnetized, then there is no metal inside.

High-quality certified profile structures are marked. It can be found at inside profile. The marking contains the manufacturer's name, production date and other information. The mark will help determine the authenticity of the product.
