My first meeting with the holy blessed Matrona of Moscow took place more than five years ago. I first learned about this saint when I read a book about her life, which included people’s stories about miracles that happened through the prayers of the blessed one. Having arrived in Moscow then, I did not plan to visit the Intercession Monastery, but my friend Natalya, whom we met there, talked about it with such enthusiasm that I decided to go there anyway.

We went there together. According to tradition, people go to Saint Matrona with flowers, as if they were alive, and therefore it is not surprising that there are many flower shops along the way to her. When we entered one of them, a huge bouquet of roses caught my eye. Such beautiful bouquets I haven't seen it anywhere else. There were fifteen roses in it: white, red, yellow, and pink. What was striking was not so much the flowers themselves, but the way they were arranged and decorated: the bright packaging, the color combination of roses. This bouquet was the most expensive in the store, and, of course, we could not buy it, even by chipping away. I only had enough money for one measly mimosa, and on the way to the Intercession Monastery I even thought about whether it was worth buying it at all, especially when I saw what bouquets people were going there with. On the way, Natalya explained to me that I needed to take two lines at once: one - to the shrine with the relics of the saint, the other - to the icon of the blessed Matrona. However, when we finally arrived, and I saw these lines, I decided that my meeting with Matrona of Moscow that day was unlikely to take place. The line moved slowly and standing in it was tiring. Natalya, after standing with me for a few minutes, said: “Well, I’ll go, I’ll come back for you in the evening. By the end of the day, your turn will definitely come, and if it happens earlier, send me an SMS.” Smiling, she left, and I remained standing in this long line, which seemed endless to me. I decided not to take a place in the next line, realizing that I was unlikely to be able to stand in this one for long.

After standing for about half an hour, I noticed that the line was practically not moving, its beginning was not visible... Suddenly it came to me: “Who wants to work for the glory of God?” I turned around: a woman was walking along the line, not a nun, but from her appearance it was clear that she was working here. There were no takers. It’s understandable: you’ll go, and then you’ll have to take the line again, or what? I also realized this, so I decided: “So, I don’t need to come here. I'll go. Let the queue be shorter. Those who stand here, probably, unlike me, came here consciously.” Having expressed my desire, I still said to those in front: “I’ll be behind you,” to which this woman replied: “Forget about the line, you won’t come back here!” And I followed her. I had no idea where we were going and what I had to do; I decided to ask about it only when we entered the temple. My fellow traveler said that first - to the holy relics and the icon of the blessed Matrona, and then - to obedience. And now what seemed impossible just a few minutes ago became possible: I was able to venerate the relics of Saint Matrona of Moscow. Afterwards, I was tasked with cleaning a couple of candlesticks from frozen wax, and then helping the sisters with flowers. I was taken to a small utility room where streams of flowers flowed: it was here that the sisters brought flowers that people gave to Blessed Matrona. Here these flowers were sorted into boxes: in one - rose heads, in another - carnations, in a third - daisies, and so on, separately - stems and packaging. I never thought that sorting bouquets would be so difficult: the roses would crack, the carnations would fall apart if you pulled the top unsuccessfully, and after a couple of hours you started to mix up the boxes. At first you peer at each flower, look at the bouquet from all sides, and when five or ten such bouquets pass through your hands, you do everything, so to speak, automatically. There were also bouquets that you had to turn in your hands for a long time to understand which side to start disassembling them from.

Flowers were passed from hand to hand in a bright string, I had the feeling that I was in a greenhouse... And suddenly in my hands there was the same bouquet as the one that struck me with its beauty in the flower shop on the way to the monastery. He could not be forgotten. Taking this beauty, I literally froze in place, studying it with my eyes: the same packaging, the same number of colors. The buds were tied together in threes with thin fishing line, and it looked like a bouquet within a bouquet. It's hard to describe, it needs to be seen. Everything came together, and I, not believing my eyes, held it in my hands and looked in confusion at those who were nearby. I don’t know how it looked from the outside, but the sisters, seeing my reaction, paused the process and looked at me intently, as if trying to understand what stopped me so abruptly. "Yes, original bouquet“,” one of them suddenly said, “I don’t want to take apart such beauty...” The sister standing next to me said: “Let’s not touch this bouquet for now, let it lie.” She took it and placed it on the low cabinet. And our work continued.

By noon Natasha joined us. Not seeing me on the street and not receiving an answer to the SMS, she began asking people standing in line about me, then she went to the temple and started asking the nuns. She was brought here. One of the sisters, having learned that I was not from Russia, for the first time in their monastery and even for the first time in Moscow, came up to me with this bouquet when I had already begun to get ready, and, handing it to me, said: “It seems to have touched your soul. Take it with you. As a souvenir of your visit to our monastery. From Saint Matronushka." What I felt at that moment cannot be described.

When Natasha and I left the temple, there was still a line. Everyone went to Saint Matrona with flowers, and I went with flowers from her. When we passed by the store where I saw this bouquet, I suddenly had the idea to go there and see if it was really the same one... “Please hold it,” I said to Natasha, handing her my bouquet as we approached the store , - I’ll come here for a couple of minutes, I’ll be quick.” I entered the store and didn’t see this bouquet there. I looked around carefully again, but still didn’t see him. When the saleswoman approached me and asked what interested me, I timidly said: “It seems like there was such a bouquet in your store...” And began to describe it. The saleswoman, interrupting me, mockingly replied: “It was in the morning, then they would have bought it. You stood in front of it for a long time and thought, and as soon as you left, a few minutes later you bought it. I was surprised, to be honest, such expensive bouquets usually take a long time to sell. Yes, an unusual bouquet, delicate work, if we talk about the design. And the price, of course... But don't be upset. You wouldn't buy it anyway. I understand, we came to admire him again. Yes, there is something to see there, I understand, I understand you very much. I myself, when I first saw it, despite the price, I thought: “But someone will still buy it and, of course, give it to someone.”

And as soon as she said this, the store door opened - and Natasha came in with my bouquet. A cheerful melody came from her bag. “Hold your bouquet yourself,” she said quickly, “someone is calling me, it’s inconvenient to take out the phone with flowers.” I will never forget the expression on the saleswoman's face! This, perhaps, was the best confirmation that the bouquet was the same... Taking the flowers, I hurriedly left, my friend followed me. On the way I told her this wonderful story. “Just don’t throw away the flowers when they wither,” Natasha asked, after listening to me, “they are from Matronushka. “Can I take one bud later?”

Upon my return, I spent a long time freeing them from tinsel. I gave half of the bouquet to Natasha, the other half stayed in the vase until I left, and not a single flower withered. When I brought the flowers home, they stood for a long time and did not wilt, but dried out. Usually, after standing in a vase for some time, flowers wither and then fall off, but these ones have somehow dried out unusually - frozen, like wax. Of course, I didn’t throw them away, but gave them away to friends and acquaintances. Someone got a petal, someone a leaf, someone a stem. Now many of my friends have their own story connected with the miraculous help of the Holy Blessed Matrona of Moscow. By the way, at that time I was still working in a secular organization, but I had to look for a job, since the contract was expiring, and I did not want to stay in the same place. At the Pokrovsky Monastery in Moscow, I asked Blessed Matrona to help me with this, and a year later, on May 2 (the day of memory of this saint), I came for an interview at the publishing house of the St. Elisabeth Monastery, and a few months later I began working on the site. And my first working day on this site was on the day of my visit to the Intercession Monastery.
