Ed 3 my love. an old friend is better than two new ones

Ed 3 my love. an old friend is better than two new ones

In Fallout: New Vegas, you can take two companions (1 mechanical and 1 live) to help you. If they agree to join, you will receive a unique .

So choose partners based on your build and play style.

In total, there are 8 characters available for hiring in the game, I suggest that you familiarize yourself with their location and recruiting conditions. I will also consider some of the quests that your companions can give, how to solve them and possible rewards for completing them.

ED-E (ED-E)

ED-I is a robot designed for reconnaissance and combat operations. It is a flying mechanical ball with a laser gun. When attacking, a cheerful patriotic march is played.

It is located in Primm, in the Mojave Express Couriers building, though in a broken state. To get ED-I as a companion, you have to fix it. There are several options available for this:

  • Repair required equal to 65
  • Requires a repair skill of 35 if you have a science skill of 55
  • Repair with materials at hand (they can all be found at the gas station in Nowak, opposite the motel)

A rather complicated quest is connected with ED-I, which is not clear how to complete. So I show my cards.

Quest ED-E My Love (ED-E My Love)

We learn from the quest log that we need to go to the Gibson Scrap Yard in Novak. And, in fact, nothing more. Arriving at the place and talking with the old woman about the nearby power plant Helios-1 (Helios One), ED-I activates one of the messages recorded in it.

To complete this quest, you will have to activate all these messages in this way. To do this, he will need to hear other keywords, here is a list of them:

  • Air Force Base
  • Archimedes
  • Eden
  • Enclave
  • Navarro (Navarro)

All these words can be heard by talking with Arcade Gannon in Mormon Fort, which is also one of the possible companions of our hero, and going to Nellis AFB.

Also in these places are located, so with one shot we kill two birds with one stone.

Several game days (from 2 to 9) must pass between the activation of messages. After completing this quest, the ED-I upgrade will become available.

If you team up with the Brotherhood of Steel, then he will get new armor, and if with the Followers of the Apocalypse, then new weapons. I recommend choosing the second, if it does not contradict your roleplaying.

Attention: empty his inventory before you give it for an upgrade, because he will return to you with completely empty pockets.

Rex

The second robot companion is a cyborg dog. Located in Freeside (Freeside) in the headquarters of the group of Kings (Kings).

Attacks nearby enemies by biting and knocking them over onto their shoulder blades. To get him as a companion, you will have to go through the main quest of the Kings. After that, a task will become available, the purpose of which will be to find a new brain for Rex.

After completing the quest, you will receive him as your companion. Depending on which brain you get, Rex will receive different bonuses. Here is their list:

  • You can get the brain of one of her dogs from Grandma Gibson at the Novak junkyard by buying or talking to give it away like that. Rex will receive a damage bonus.
  • To the west of New Vegas is the Violetta trailer park, where you will find a pack of dogs, what to do next I think is clear. Rex will get a movement speed bonus.
  • At The Fort, talk to Anthony about Lupa. As a result, you will find yourself 1 on 1 with an evil dog. Rex will receive a bonus to armor.

Arcade Gannon

It is located in Freeside at the Mormon Fort. To recruit him, you need 75 Speech, a Confirmed Bachelor, or high reputation with the Followers of the Apocalypse.

He will also join you out of pity if the character's intelligence level is low enough. The guy is very useful due to his perk, with which you will receive 20% more health from healing drugs and food.

It shoots from energy weapons, although in combat it is not very useful without good equipment.

Advice: equip him with heavy armor as early as possible. In useful to disgrace, the main thing is to equip it to the fullest.

It will be possible to sell him into slavery to Caesar as a personal doctor.

Cass

Located in the Mojave Outpost bar in the southwest. To get her as a partner, you will have to work for the Crimson Caravan Company.

Dress her in heavy armor, give her a shotgun and enemies will fly away from her in the form of meatballs with enviable regularity.

Especially if you go through her quest "combat" way, which will give + 15% to the damage done. Solving problems peacefully will increase her health by 50.

Craig Boone

One of the snipers who sits in the jaws of a huge dinosaur in Novak on the night shift. For recruiting, you need to go through a quest to find the one who killed his wife.

If you perform it correctly, that is, to hand over the real culprit, then it will be possible to persuade him to travel with you. Legion representatives will be hostile regardless of your reputation with them if Boone is with you.

After completing his quest, he will change into the NCR uniform, there is no particular benefit from this, but he will look much cooler. In general, one of the most useful comrades in terms of combat aptitude.

Takes out enemies from afar to shreds even with the initial weapon, and if you give a more impressive gun, then put out the light. Just a must have.

Lily

Super Mutant Lily can be found in Jacobstown. To recurve, you need to complete the Guess Who I Saw Today quest and make sure Lily survives Dr. Henry's tests.

Takes out packs of enemies in close combat, and also enters berserk mode when her health is low, which increases her hitting power even more. This level of health can be controlled by asking her to take her medicines on time.

In, unfortunately, it is useless, as it will die very quickly.

Complete worries. Veronica.

Veronica is a scribe of the Brotherhood of Steel and is waiting for you at post 188. To start the quest, you need to communicate with Veronica regularly. While traveling, Veronica can comment on different situations. There are 10 such situations in total, in order to start the quest, you need to communicate with her at least 3 times after such situations.

Macarran Camp: Near the central doors, or the doors closest to Colonel Shue.

Camp Macarran: Chat with Dr. Thomas Hildern about the goals of the UNP, and start the quest Don't Grow Grass.

    Nipton: Also, just walk around.

    Vault 3: Take her inside.

Cassa Madrid Apartments: After talking to Anderson and starting the quest "The White Wash".

Old Mormon Fort: Talk to Julia Farkas.

Nellis AFB: After listening to Pete's full lecture on the history of the bombers.

Repconn Proving Ground: After talking to Bright about the "Great Journey".

Silver Rush: Just go inside and look around the counters.

Nelson or Cottonwood Cove: just walk around and she'll comment on Legion.

In the above places, Veronica says either to you or to herself a few phrases (the dialog box does not appear at the same time) in the spirit of "Yes, but the Brotherhood of Steel is fucked", after which a marker of the Brotherhood of Steel bunker appears on the map - Hidden Valley location and the girl asks you to take her there. Go into the bunker, go down to Elder McNamara and listen to the dialogue between him and Veronica. Yes, the stubborn old man got caught. The brotherhood is actually a zugunder, and McNamara still persists. OK. We will explain that modern can openers can easily open even the best armor of the Brotherhood. On the way out of the bunker, Veronica will talk to you again and ask you to visit an abandoned hut near HELIOS One in order to download data from the terminal. You will also meet brainless hulks from the Brotherhood of Steel, they will tell you a couple of pleasant ones and leave.

Go to the hut, and download data on three interesting projects from the terminal. These are three branches of the quest, you need to choose which branch to take and complete.

If you decide to find a rangefinder, go to the Strip, in Vault 21. Talk to the owner of the shelter and ask if she has seen the rangefinder. She will say that some man in a collar, as I understand it, an escaped slave, bought it. Next, go to Freeside, in a dilapidated building opposite Mick and Ralph's store. We find a slave, after which we go back to the entrance to the dilapidated building, there, leaning against the wall, sits a tramp. We communicate with him and ask what happened to the rangefinder. It turns out that the weapon "Euclid's Algorithm" turns out to be a coveted thing and it is owned by a black boy who chases his girlfriend for days. We buy a pistol from the boy for 1000 caps (or for 20 caps, if the barter is 65+).

Remember that if you have already distributed energy at the station "HELIOS One" ignoring "Archimedes", then this path is closed for you, since the gun does not shoot without this energy.

For this branch, you need to go to Vault 22. I also advise you to look at the Macarran camp along the way, and take the quest "Don't grow grass" from Dr. Thomas Hildern, and then go straight to the shelter. You need to download the data from the main terminal which is on the "Pest Extermination" level, which is the latest one. You need to download the same data for the Hildern quest, so it's better to go through them together. The fastest way to complete this quest is to repair the elevator, which is only possible if you have a repair skill of 50. Otherwise, you will have to walk through the thickets of the Vault for a long time. I also advise you to be careful, a voracious creature can burn in the grass, and there are quite a few such creatures.

Remember - if you completed the quest "Don't Grow Grass" before taking this quest - this option is not available to you (after all, all the data is destroyed, yeah).

After receiving the data / items (one is enough), we go to the elder.

"If I die, will I dream of YOU?"

Aren't you tired of the flying eye robot ED-E? If yes, then this replayer companion is the sexy ED-E for you.

IMPORTANT

If you've already got to know ED-E and repaired it, this mod can do weird things to your game after you download it. It is highly recommended to create a clean save before activating the mod, or use it with a new game.

Sexy ED-E

Inspired by: Fallout 3's fembot quest, Radiohead's "Fake Plastic Trees" (who doesn't love songs about breast implants and stuff?), The Beatles' "Sexy Sadie" that I listened to while drinking beer and watching Geck on the screen my monitor.

"She looks just like the real thing.
And it tastes like the real thing too
My fake plastic love
But I can't get rid of the feeling
That I can seep through the ceiling
If I suddenly push off and fly up.

And it makes me so tired, it makes me so tired...
It exhausts me so, it exhausts me so..."

Want your first real companion to spice up your life and make your Las Vegas trip unforgettable?

Say hello to Edie (ED-E) - an advanced android who not only has the ability to kill and work as a spy-infiltrator, but also able to seduce one lucky courier.

Rescued from anxious wastelanders, damaged in battle, and left to rot in the Primm, ED-E is now waiting for you, her new master, to repair and bring her back to life.

I did my best to make her a more sensual robot, inspired by the android quest in Fallout 3. If the Institute has advanced robots, then why couldn't other organizations have them.

I may have overlooked the humor of the original Fallout 1 and 2 games, but there should be enough humor here. Therefore, if you are easily offended - do not go to the terminal!

The mod features a computer terminal with a lot of backstory on how Edie (ED-A) "got" to where you find her.

Translator's note: In the original fashion, the author suggested b O More choices for the appearance of the new ED-E (Asian brunette, Caucasian blonde, Irish redhead, short haired brunette), but since the author made some minor mistakes in the facegene, then ALL faces is in fashion greenish tint, which turned out to be difficult to remove in Geck, so instead of the author's options, an alternative is offered - ED Zida.

IMPORTANT NOTE! Attention! Attention!
This mod does NOT overwrite the existing ED-E model. It overwrites scripts.

Therefore, if you have vanilla ED-E as a companion, it is quite possible that it will freeze. What happens if you return to Primm and interact with the new humanoid ED-E? ... I do not know.

I haven't tested a save game where I've already met ED-A and invited him to join me.
The reason is that the original ED-E remains unchanged in the game. The scripts have been changed to use my own female models, and I believe this will make your vanilla ED-E unmanageable.

As far as I can tell, it's impossible to convert a vanilla ED-E (creature) into a human NPC without advanced knowledge of Blender/Nifskope, which I don't have.

BEWARE OF GIRL Type 3 HiRez HiDetailed Replacer by BlackBlossom http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/34702/?tab

Will ED-E level up with me?
Yes.

ED-E is immortal?
Only if you don't play hardcore mode.

What about the equipment and skills of the new ED-E?

Basic model ED-E:
The class is a prostitute. ED-E is not the best fighter in the early game.
The ED-E outfit was worn by her former owner. Damage cap 6, outfit can be removed from inventory.
Weapon: (not removable, built into ED-E.)
- Laser pistol. Operates from the internal power source ED-E, does not require cartridges. However, it still requires a "recharge" to prevent continuous firing. Damage: 10
- Club - damage 10.

ED-E with upgraded armor (after upgrading from the Brotherhood of Steel)
The class is security officer.

Skills: melee, weapons, unarmed.
Health points - DOUBLE raised compared to the base model. ED-E will be harder to kill.
Armor: Armored underwear (removable) - damage limit 20 (more than combat armor, less than power armor).
Weapon: Same as above.

ED-E with upgraded weapons (after the follower of the apocalypse update)
Class: energy soldier.

Skills: energy weapons, melee weapons, pistols. Removable.
Health Points: Same as base model.
Armor: Upgraded pajamas: damage limit - 12. Slightly weaker than combat armor.
Weapon: not removable.
- "ED-E Claw" - a short blade deals 27 damage per hit.
- "ED-E blaster" - a plasma weapon. Deals 25 damage but fires 2 projectiles.

If I give ED-E the best weapon, will she use it?
Yes. Don't forget to add her to inventory and ammo.

How can I change her clothes?
Her clothes are removable. Like Barbie and Ken dolls! So feel free to dress her up.

Jujukit: "I already had ED-E in the game and wanted to use this mod.

I went to the console, entered the command "resetquest 001572e8", which restarts the quest "ED-E, my love". Then I activated the ESP mod. Repaired a new ED-E, and received messages in Pip-Boy about a new quest. I also deactivated through the console (bring up the console, click on the ED-E, and type "disable") the old vanilla ED-E that was still floating around. I think this will help reduce the problems with two ED-Es that exist at the same time. The old ED-E can always be restored via the console if I need it."

Yamiken: "If you want to use the "Unlimited Companions" mod, try putting this mod AFTER "Unlimited Companions" in the load queue.

The mod contains over 500 original lines of text, covering both terminal entries and ED-E's own comments.

Optionally, you can download and install a "voiceover" that will replace the original ED-E beep with alternative sounds.

IMPORTANT 2

After you repair ED-E, ask how you can call it remotely - Dialog - Show me additional settings.

A walkie-talkie will be added to your inventory, with which you can communicate with ED-E, or you can teleport yourself to her, or teleport her to you.

IMPORTANT 3

Before changing ED-E's hairstyle via dialogue - create a save. The resulting result may categorically not suit you, and most likely it will not work to return to the original version - to change hairstyles, the author created a bunch of the same type of races that differ from each other only in hairstyles.

So don't change your hairstyle ED-E

Immediately after the repair, Johnson Nash will offer to take ED-E to junkyard mammy gibson. After being there, the robot will start playing the audiolog after a while. As it turns out, the creators of the robot are employees of the Enclave. Now we have to wait a few in-game days, about nine. Then talk to Ignacio Rivas in Helios One, with Michael Angelo in the workshop next to Vault 21, with Dr. Henry in Jacobstown, with Quartermaster Meyes in Camp McCarran. After one of these conversations, ED-E will start playing the second audiolog. Two more days after playing the second audiolog, you will be contacted via ED-E by Knight Lorenzo of the Brotherhood. He will ask you to bring ED-E to him for examination. If at that time you have not yet received access to the Brotherhood, then he will make an appointment at REPCONN headquarters. Where you will find a dead Brotherhood patrol and, after removing the holotape from it, head to Hidden Valley. The process of gaining access to the Brotherhood is described in the section. Having previously taken all the things from ED-E, we give it to Lorenzo. Four days later, we get an updated ED-E, which has increased armor (+8 to PU).

Alternatively, you can take ED-E to Followers of the Apocalypse and his weapons will be improved (+5 damage, +8 damage per second, +0.5 crit.%, +15 crit. damage).

In Primm, in the Nash house, there is a broken, modified Enclave spybot on a table. In order for the robot to become your companion, it needs to be repaired. This can be done with Repair (65), or Science (55) and Repair (35), or with parts (3 Scrap Metal, 2 Sensor Modules, 1 Electronic Scrap).
The ED-E's memory contains two audio recordings left by its creator, Whitley. You need to make the robot play them. The playback starts after talking to some NPCs, with certain lines containing the keyword "HELIOS One" (ED-E must be among your companions). For some characters, the lines do not contain the words "HELIOS One", and nevertheless activate audio recordings (for example: Mr. House's request to find the Bombers at Nellis Air Force Base).
Conversations with the following characters can start the first audio recording:

  • Mother Gibson at the Landfill of Mother Gibson (a question about the station "HELIOS One").
  • Unnamed NCR soldiers at HELIOS One station (random remarks mentioning the station).
  • Dr. Henry in Jacobstown (Question about the Enclave).
  • Trouble in Jacobstown, if Dr. Henry moved to the Remaining Bunker (ask about Dr. Henry).
  • Ignacio Rivas at HELIOS One station (a question about the ARCHIMEDES project and the Brotherhood of Steel).
  • Knight Torres in the Hidden Valley bunker.
  • Apprentice Watkins in the Hidden Valley bunker (question about the HELIOS One station).
  • Unnamed Knights of the Brotherhood of Steel in the Hidden Valley bunker (cues mentioning Elder Elijah and HELIOS One Station).
  • Thomas Hildern at Camp McCarran (Hoover Dam issue). This question can only be asked at the beginning of the "Don't Grow Grass" quest.
  • Mr. House during the quest "The Casino Always Wins, III" (ask him about the Bombers).
  • Michael Angelo in his studio on the Strip (a question about local attractions).
  • Colonel Cassandra Moore at the Hoover Dam (Question about the first assignment for the quest "For the Republic, Part 2").
  • Fantasist on the Hoover Dam (if, as a result of the quest "Sun Flare", energy was supplied to the Strip and McCarran).
  • Quartermaster Meyes at Camp Forlorn Hope, during the quest "The Return of Hope" (the question of where to look for supplies).
  • Caesar, if you activated the HELIOS One security system and destroyed the NKR fighters at the station during the "Sunshine Flares" quest (welcome remark).
  • Veronica during the quest "All the Troubles" (after examining Elder Elijah's notes in the terminal at Mother Gibson's Junkyard).

  • After the first audio recording has been played, you must wait five full in-game days. During this time, ED-E will not respond to keywords, even if they appear in the characters' lines. After five days, one of the characters listed above can be called upon to repeat the keyword and have ED-E play a second audio recording.
For most characters, keywords appear only once (usually in quest dialogues).
After two in-game days, ED-E will turn to you. Senior Knight Lorenzo of the Hidden Valley bunker, using the robot as a radio transmitter, asks you to visit Hidden Valley and give ED-E to the Brotherhood of Steel for study. After a Brotherhood patrol at REPCONN Headquarters is found dead, April Martimer of the Followers of the Apocalypse will be contacted with a similar offer to visit the Old Mormon Fort and give ED-E to the Followers for study.
You can only choose one side. The choice between the Brotherhood of Steel and the Followers of the Apocalypse will not affect the reputation of these factions. The only thing that affects the choice is what kind of modernization ED-E will receive.
After three in-game days, you will receive the message "ED-E has returned to Primm." The robot can be taken as a companion again in Primm, in the Nash house.
  • If the offer of the Brotherhood of Steel was chosen, the armor of ED-E will be increased (the robot will receive +12 to PU).
  • If the Followers of the Apocalypse offer was chosen, ED-E's weapons will be improved (the robot will receive an improved laser gun with +5 damage and +200% DPS as a weapon).
