Build craft 1.7 2 quarry does not work. Buildcraft: Quarry and drilling rig. How to dig a quarry in Minecraft

There are often cases when a crafter has a desire to dig a huge pit in Minecraft, a kind of quarry. Trying to do this manually can only be done by someone who doesn’t mind the time, because removing a huge layer of material is very labor-intensive. The BuildCraft mod and the mechanism it adds, which is also called a “quarry,” can come to the rescue.

How to make a quarry in Minecraft

To make the mechanism, you will need gold, iron and diamond gears, a diamond pickaxe and red dust. All this stuff should be located the same way as in the screenshot.

If you use the GregTech add-on for Minecraft, the recipe will be slightly different. The gears remain in place, and a diamond drill bit and an improved electrical circuit take the place of the remaining components.

The result will be a device capable of digging a default area of 9x9, or, if you use special tags, a zone defined by the crafter, up to 64x64. The mechanism will go deeper until it reaches bedrock or lava.

BuildCraft is a high-tech mod that imitates reality, so the quarry will not work in Minecraft without energy. The minimum consumed by it is 2 MJ/cycle, the maximum is 48 MJ. The minimum required for continuous digging is 9 MJ/cycle. Operating at maximum ensures that the device moves a distance of 5.2 blocks per clock cycle. Any engine can power the mechanism. The speed depends on the number and type of motors. You can use, for example, a steam engine from the RailCraft modification. It is capable of delivering 8 MJ. In general, which energy generator to connect is at your discretion.

How to dig a quarry in Minecraft

Having dealt with the “shovel”, you can start digging. It is best to use the already mentioned tags in Minecraft. You can make them using a red torch and ultramarine.

Having everything you need, repeat after us.

  • Place a pole that will serve as a mounting location for one of the tags. After this, attach one marker to the post and place one next to it.

  • Next, use the remaining marks to mark the outline of the Minecraft quarry to create a rectangle.

  • Right-click on the mark at the base of the pillar. The outline will immediately highlight in red.

  • We have reached the point where the quarry itself is required. Place it near the foundation mark. As a result, all markers will fall out, and the outline in Minecraft will turn yellow and black.

  • Connect the motor to the mechanism and install the lever.

  • By turning on the quarry, a device will appear above the outline that will build an orange frame.

  • As a result, after the construction of the frame is completed, a drill will appear, which will dig a pit in Minecraft.

We talked about fast way construction of this wonderful device. There are options that require so-called BuildCraft pipes, but this is a little more difficult to do. Perhaps more complicated options have advantages in speed, but construction takes more time. If you wish, you can later build such a quarry in Minecraft.

Part 2. Quarry installation

I know how long it takes to search for diamonds and gold ore to create the necessary spare parts for crafting mechanisms.Buildcraft... But if you are digging a mine at a height of 5-12 blocks, then sooner or later you will definitely run into a cluster with a valuable stone. I advise you to enchant the pickaxe with “Luck” - then the dropped pebbles will be twice as many. You can learn more about enchanting in this article. When will you have required amount resources for crafting a quarry - get down to business.

Quarry(quarry) - a mechanism used for automatic extraction of ores and materials in special large quantities. By default, its working area including the frame is 11x11 blocks (or 9x9 without a frame). The maximum frame size is 64x64, the minimum is 3x3. The dimensions of the frames are adjusted using marks. The quarry will dig down to the bedrock or until it hits the lava. Water doesn't bother him. When you turn on the quarry for the first time, the frame itself is automatically built with a given (or default) size. Everything inside the frame volume will be destroyed. The quarry's maximum power is 100MJ/t until its energy buffer is full, but during operation the energy consumption drops to 48MJ/t.

Recipe:

3 iron, 2 gold, 2 diamond gears; red dust, diamond pickaxe

Looking ahead, I will say that quarries greatly disfigure the world, leaving behind huge deep holes in the ground. So, if you are planning a grandiose construction of something, you should not install quarries close to your home. However, you can get rid of pits using very cheating methods or install cars in dimensions added by other mods (for example,Mystcraft). As soon as you find a place for future excavations, you will need to decide on the size of the working area. It's clear that what larger area, the longer the machine will dig. In my experience, when working in one quarry in the 64x64 area, it took 12-16 hours - and this was at the maximum power of the internal combustion engines. Therefore, to begin with, you can just stick it in the ground =)

You will see that a frame is being formed near the quarry - conditional lines along which the future frame will be built. If you need to set a different size of the work area, use the marks.

Mark(mark) - an object that is used to mark the territory. Tags must be installed at the same height in the same row and at a distance of no more than 64 blocks from each other.

Recipe:

Lapis lazuli, red torch

Let's learn such an important lesson as marking the territory. To begin, set two marks in a straight line and right-click on one of them. A red beam will appear between them - this means that the tags are placed correctly and a connection has been established between them.

But a straight line is not a rectangle. For it, you need to add a third label and activate the one that is at the intersection of the other two. Those. for rectangles or rectangular parallelepipeds You should always activate the tag that stands between all the others.

If you did everything correctly, the beam forms a rectangle of the size specified by the marks. If you need to mark the parallelepiped in the future, you will have to add another height mark. Example of a rectangular parallelepiped:

To mark particularly large areas, you can install a red torch or lever next to the mark. It will make the tag emit lasers in all directions and finding a straight line between two tags will not be difficult.

For a quarry, only a rectangle is enough. Just place the mechanism at one of the marks:

On the left is a quarry with a marked work area, on the right is the default quarry 11x11.

The next step will be to supply the quarry with energy. If you want to achieve maximum speed quarry work and you have the resources for it, collect 8 internal combustion engines: maximum power career 48MJ/t=8xICE 6MJ/t (filled diesel fuel). Connect them to 4 wooden motor tubes with a pair of motors each. To supply energy to the quarry itself with a cobblestone conductive pipe, you will no longer be able to do this; you will need analogues with a maximum throughput of at least 48MJ/t. I chose an iron propulsion tube, but if you have nether quartz, a quartz propulsion tube will work.

In addition to wooden and cobblestone propulsion pipes, there are also others.

StoneKinesisPipe(stone propulsion pipe) - unlike the cobblestone one, it has a throughput capacity twice as large - 16MJ/t. Inexpensive crafting makes it one of the most popular for low power networks.

Recipe:

Red dust, stone transport pipe

Glass, 2 stones

IronKinesisPipe(iron motor pipe) - a feature of this pipe is the ability to regulate the throughput using wrench right click from 2MJ/t to 128MJ/t. Each subsequent click increases the power by 2 times.

Recipe:

Red dust, iron transport pipe

Glass, 2 iron ingots

QuartzKinesisPipe(quartz propulsion tube) - electric pipe with a maximum throughput of 64MJ/t.

Recipe:

Red dust, quartz transport tube

Glass, quartz block (or pylon, or carved block)

GoldKinesisPipe(golden motor pipe) - electric pipe with a maximum capacity of 256MJ/t.

Recipe:

Red dust, golden transport pipe

Glass, 2 gold bars

DiamondKinesisPipe(diamond propulsion pipe) is an electric pipe with the highest throughput of 1024MJ/t.

Recipe:

Red dust diamond transport pipe

Glass, 2 diamonds

It's time to think about the cooling system for the internal combustion engine. There is nothing complicated here: you will need a water source, a pump, mechanical motors and liquid pipes.

Pump(pump) - used to pump out sources of liquid, such as water, lava or oil. No wooden liquid pipe is required to obtain liquid from the pump, the liquid will be carried through any compatible pipe connected to the pump. For the most fast work It is recommended to power it with a Stirling engine, but this is also the only mechanism that can operate from the energy of mechanical engines. As soon as the pump detects liquid underneath, a rod will lower from its lower side - this means that the machine is ready for operation.

Recipe:

Tank, drilling rig

Red dust, 6 iron ingots, iron gear, iron pickaxe

A special feature of the pump is the effect of drying up liquid sources and a fairly large range of action (according to my data, up to 64 blocks). If you place the mechanism, for example, near a lake, it will not pump out water directly below itself, but will do it randomly, mainly from the farthest edges from itself. If you create a pool with 3x3 water sources, the liquid will never disappear. The pump itself is located on top of the pool. One pump with 4 red-hot mechanical engines can provide 100% water cooling for 4 internal combustion engines. In my example, you will need 2 such pumps and 8 mechanical motors.

Now, using liquid pipes, we draw channels for water from the pump to the internal combustion engines themselves. I advise you to install gold pipes - they provide the most maximum throughput. Gold is an expensive material, and the closer the pools are located, the fewer pipes will be needed for the structure. In addition to the wooden and cobblestone liquid pipes mentioned in the first part, there are several more.

StoneFluidPipe(stone liquid pipe) - similar to the cobblestone pipe in terms of throughput 10mB/t (1 bucket in 5 seconds), but does not connect to it.

Recipe:

Pipe seal, stone transport pipe.

SandstoneFluidPipe(sand liquid pipe) - maximum throughput 10mB/t. Such a pipe will only connect to other pipes and will not connect to liquid containers (tanks or machinery that have buffers for liquids). Used to connect stone and cobblestone pipes. Can be used in places where it is necessary to route the pipeline so that it does not connect to tanks and machines.

Recipe:

Pipe sealer, sand transport pipe

GoldFluidPipe(golden liquid pipe) - conducts liquid at a speed of 40mB/t (1 bucket in 1.25 seconds). The best choice.

Recipe:

Pipe seal, gold transport pipe

IronFluidPipe(iron liquid pipe) - conducts liquid at a speed of 10mB/t. A special feature of the pipe is the ability to change the direction of fluid movement using a wrench (right-click on the pipe with the wrench in your hand).

Recipe:

Pipe Sealant, Iron Transport Pipe

EmeraldFluidPipe(emerald liquid pipe) - similar to the wooden one, used to extract liquid from containers, but with high speed 40mB/t.

Recipe:

Pipe seal, emerald transport pipe

VoidFluidPipe(empty liquid pipe) - any liquid that gets into this pipe will disappear from your world forever. Bandwidth 10mB/t.

Recipe:

Pipe seal, hollow transport pipe

So, the quarry is installed, the internal combustion engines are connected, the cooling system is ready. It happens that pipes can connect to mechanisms in several places at the same time, creating unnecessary forks. It turns out this:

As the liquid passes through the forks, it will be divided in two. In this case, the least liquid will reach the farthest engines, because it will be divided twice. This may not be critical yet, but for large circuits it can become a real disaster. You can use a pipe plug in those places where the pipe should not go or branch.

PipePlug(pipe plug) - small, but very useful device, used to separate pipes from mechanisms or other pipes. To remove the plug without destroying the pipe, press Shift + RMB while holding the same device in your hand. You can only create a stub in the assembly table.

Recipe:

Filled cobblestone pipe, 1000MJ

As you can see, the pipe does not connect to the internal combustion engine from below, but goes straight to the next one. Well, all systems are ready to go. First you need to turn on the mechanical engines on the pumps, while they are warming up, fill the internal combustion engines with fuel (1 bucket for now) and leave the area fenced with yellow-black lines =)

In the next part I will tell you why objects fly out of the quarry =D, we will talk about transporting and sorting objects, and I will explain what pipes are needed for this.

If you have set yourself the task of how to dig a huge pit in a short time without making much effort, then it’s time to build a so-called quarry - a mechanism automatic selection rocks in the marked area. It is impossible to build this kind of mechanism in regular Minecraft; you will have to install the BuildCraft mod.

Step-by-step instructions for building a quarry

1. Download the mod for your version of Minecraft:

2. Install the BuildCraft mod:

  • Install (if you have not installed it before);
  • Copy the unpacked mod to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\mods;
  • Ready.

3. Craft a quarry and markers (for marking the drilling area)

4. We mark the territory of the quarry ( maximum size maybe 64x64x64):

  • We set 1 mark and from it 2 more that determine the length and width of the quarry. The marks are placed at the same level. If there are relief convexities between the marks, then you need to set another height mark (as shown in the screenshot) near the first mark.
  • Activate the first label by clicking the Right mouse button. After this, a red frame should form, defining the territory of the pit.
  • We bring and install the crafted quarry to our markings. After which the marked area should turn yellow and black.
  • We attach the engine to the quarry and install a lever next to it. We turn on the lever and watch as the frame begins to be built and a drill appears, which will dig out our quarry.

Knowing how to extract oil and make fuel, use pipes and engines, and mark out territory, you can begin to use the most powerful machines in Buildcraft. Today we will engage in resource extraction, namely, we will talk about a drilling rig and a quarry.

Let's start with the drilling rig. This machine is not as expensive or useful compared to the quarry, but perhaps you will find a use for it. The recipe for the drilling rig was in previous articles, but I will still repeat it.

The machine needs to be placed on the ground and supplied with energy. It is also advisable to attach a pipe or chest, otherwise the dug up resources will fly to the ground. The drilling rig digs a vertical tunnel one block wide to the very bottom of the map. At the same time, some semblance of a pipe is lowered. See the picture below for what it looks like. If you need to make a vertical tunnel, use it.

Career

Quarry in Buildcraft is business card fashion, along with pipes. It allows you to dig up resources in huge quantities in a relatively short time, freeing you from this tedious task. You can see the quarry recipe in the picture below.

Crafting is quite expensive, it uses 11 diamonds, but they will quickly pay for themselves. Before installing the quarry, you can mark the area with blue markers, as described in the previous article. If you do not do this, the machine will use its standard contour for excavation. I marked out a small rectangle for the quarry, and this is what came out of it.

For power you will need at least 2 motors internal combustion. The quarry will work with a small amount of energy, but it will be very slow. It is also worth connecting a pipe and attaching several chests to it. When you start supplying energy, a small flying square robot will appear, which will laser clear the area inside the circuit of foreign blocks and begin to build an orange fence.

Having built it, the robot will disappear and the quarry will begin to dig. It is worth remembering that if the quarry finds lava, it will stop, although it digs perfectly in water. You can fill the hole with water, then the lava will turn into obsidian, which will be dug out. Once the quarry reaches bedrock, it will stop. Be careful, the hole will be very deep, don't fall. Well, or you can push your friends there.

Conclusion

The quarry is, of course, much more powerful than the drilling rig, but it is used in other recipes. In addition, it costs much less and will help you make vertical tunnels. Well, the quarry will allow you to quickly extract resources. You can place it underground, for example right above the diamond level, so you don't have to wait for it to dig up all the stone. Then production will be even faster. Next time, we'll talk about terraforming. You will learn how to use the placeholder and what patterns it uses.
