Seamless ceiling tiles: types, selection criteria, installation. Ceiling tiles without seams: price and reviews with photos Thin ceiling tiles

or still "stretch ceiling" Yes, we also faced this choice. Well, I got my hands on the reviews about the renovation and then I decided Necessarily start from the ceiling, since we started the renovation itself from there, why in vain, why? - I'll tell you a little later. There were few reviews, and all of them were not unambiguous, and after several videos from YouTube, and by the way, not a single positive comment from there, we still went ahead and... bought seamless ceiling tiles.

What is its advantage:

  • - Well, obviously, compared to tension - this is low price and "installation" speed.
  • - You can glue it yourself, and in 1 evening, without much effort, which is what we actually did.
  • - If again compared with tension, the materials are environmentally friendly. A suspended ceiling is many times more harmful than ceiling tiles.
  • - Light as a feather, very easy to transport, bought and brought, perfect.
  • - Does not require careful preparation ceiling before gluing, unless, of course, you have chalk whitewash, although, I think, for glue “moment” and chalk whitewash would stick tightly, because the differences between the slabs are 5 (5!!!) centimeters apart, as was the case with us .
  • - It’s easier to replace a damaged tile than a whole, holey sheet of suspended ceiling.
  • - Well, once you stick it, it will work out somehow), you immediately remember the fairy tale about “Vovka in the Far Far Away Kingdom.” Considering that we tried, it turned out tolerable. Of course, I don’t like it, but I don’t have the desire to “rip everything off and put it back on again tomorrow.”

I'll start by explaining our decision. I didn’t recognize the ceiling tiles at all, considered them a relic of the past and didn’t see anything so good in them, but the name itself "seamless tiles" sounded very tempting. For some reason I decided that if the ceiling was well prepared for gluing, we would avoid all the incidents during gluing, and the “moment” liquid nails glue would make this gluing much easier. Of course, in our case with a terrible difference in the slabs in the ceiling great solution It would have been possible to install suspended ceilings, but we didn’t have such an opportunity, and the money would have been tens of times more expensive, so for the first time we made do with “Format” seamless tiles.

What we had and what problems we had to face:

We hung the wallpaper in the living room; the apartment is located in an old Khrushchev building. We are ready to lay the tiles in advance. Wallpaper we are all old deleted , and first of all, they knocked off all the plaster at the joints between the ceiling and the wall.

Yes, this is how they used to do renovations in old Khrushchev buildings, it was considered fashionable and boHato. Just in case the wall primed , let it dry. Somehow putty this terrible difference , which, by the way, really saved our situation; if we hadn’t done this, the tile would have simply broken in half or dented due to tension on both sides.

Therefore, if there are at least some unevenness or changes on the ceiling, this whole matter should be urgently putty and after drying sand so that the ceiling is level. If the ceiling is not even at all and you don’t have the strength or desire to fix something, you can try to stick it like that, but the joints will be clearly visible, and the greater the difference or any unevenness, the better the joint will be visible, and in artificial lighting these joints are oh so are visible, but due to the thickness of the tiles, the old wallpaper should not appear, well, this is advice for the lazy.

The base for wallpapering turned out to be as good as we could - we leveled it out

Quality of seamless ceiling tiles "Format":

Despite the reliable packaging that inspires confidence, when opening several packages I found tiles with broken and chipped , this one is no longer suitable for the middle, now only somewhere in the scraps, although the integrity of the packaging was not touched.

I won’t make a mistake, but I think that defective tiles are not written off or disposed of, but hidden in packages for purchase, which is very unpleasant. There were just enough tiles, but if there weren’t enough, these broken corners would definitely spoil the appearance of the ceiling.

The drawing is embossed, but not much, if you don’t look closely - it looks like decorative plaster. The tiles themselves are a little porous; these little foam sheets are not compacted tightly together like in older versions of ceiling tiles. It breaks and wrinkles very easily if not used carefully. . Traces easily remain from everything - from pencil, dirty hands, hardened glue.

I really liked that there is an arrow on the back of the tile,

As far as I remember, all the arrows should point the same way at the window. Although, the drawing was somehow strange and with the same combination it converged in some places and not at all in others, but we decided that it was specially created so that it would not be especially noticeable.

Don't pay attention to the tape, it's temporary. In general, so far everything was going well, but the joints were barely visible.

Let's start gluing the "Format" ceiling tiles:

After preparing the ceiling for wallpapering, it seems that all the worst and most difficult things are behind us, in general - this is so, theoretically. But practically - not quite.

We started gluing in this way:

1) We measured the middle of the room exactly in the place where our chandelier hangs, since we were afraid to make a slot in the tile. That is, it turns out that you divide the room itself into 4 even squares.

2) We glued strings in these places, crosswise, and drew them on the ceiling with a pencil so that the tiles would run smoothly.

3) You need to glue the tiles along the same designated squares, starting from the middle (where the chandelier will hang. We finished 1 square - then proceed to the second, etc.

We leave the places where the tiles have to be cut for later. With instant adhesive, the tiles were glued easily, hold it for a couple of seconds and under no circumstances press - dents immediately remain, which cannot be corrected later, yes, after all tender she of course.

We carefully glued the tiles together with masking tape, remove the masking tape after completely dry glue!!! Glue - moment of installation.

It stuck almost tightly.

4) Once the whole tile has been glued, we move on to the scraps. We cut the tiles using the usual, but necessarily, spicy, stationery knife , otherwise the tiles will end up with unsightly breaks and corners.

The most enjoyable stage is removing the masking tape from the already glued tiles).

In general, the joints are of course visible, but tolerable. Most people don’t notice it at all, and I actually like it; there’s no desire to re-glue the tiles.

5) We glued the tiles, and the final stage is definitely gluing ceiling plinth,

this is, of course, a completely different story, and very conveniently labor-intensive, cutting the baguette at 45 degrees, a lot of swearing and rewinding for the whole house, tons of spoiled baguette, but a little advice - It’s better not to take a huge-width plinth, why?:

  • It looks cheap in a composition with ceiling tiles and a huge edging for the whole room
  • Cracks are visible (with uneven ceiling, differences).
  • A huge plinth is less flexible than a narrow one; with large differences it will seem to bulge. And since the tile was already firmly glued, it cannot be placed on the side of the baseboard, as a result of which cracks are visible.
  • It's really hard to glue in corners if you're not a master and have never done it before

But if you are still a fan of a huge baguette, a simple tip is not to glue the tiles on the sides from the side of the wall, just put them on the side of the baguette, this will be much better than trying to fix these gaps in the future. We covered one with a curtain, you can’t see it there. The second one was stupidly reconciled.

Pros:

  • + Price, oh, I completely forgot. They paid something for the packaging (2 sq.m.) about 300 rub. In total, we purchased 9 packages. 1 package contains 8 tiles.
  • + Has no odor at all
  • +Easy installation (if not for the baseboard)
  • +Lightweight, easy to ship
  • +Easy to glue
  • +Interesting pattern
  • +Large selection On the market
  • +Does not turn yellow over time (more than six months of use)
  • +There are arrows (hints in which direction to glue) for matching the pattern

Of the minuses:

  • -There are still seams
  • -There is a defect (at least in three packages out of nine)
  • -Too soft, easily torn, wrinkled
  • -Porous
  • -The pattern does not match in some places despite the instructions.

In general, “you can live,” as they say, will do for the first time, but if you are making your own ceiling once and for all, this option will 100% not work, anything, but not tiles. And so, if you just want to quickly and easily refresh your room, hall, or kitchen - go ahead, get new ideas. Rating - 3, for defects, for seams in a seamless ceiling, but I recommend, maybe you will do much better). I wish you good luck, bye bye.

The range of ceiling finishing materials on the market today building materials, amazes with its diversity. The products can easily satisfy any, even the most original desires, since they are made from a wide variety of raw materials, can be correct or irregular shape, and also vary in color, cost, service life, quality and other characteristics.

Peculiarities

Among the varieties of this specialized material Seamless tiles are very popular. The main advantages of such products include light weight, good strength indicators, long service life, moisture resistance and a huge selection of shapes, colors and textures.

Foamed polystyrene is used to produce seamless ceiling tiles. IN finished form it has slightly curved edges. It is due to this feature of its shape that the surface of the ceiling, decorated with this material, looks like a complete canvas, with visually invisible seams at the junctions of the elements. This means that the finished surface will fit more harmoniously into the interior and will look much more aesthetically pleasing due to the visual absence of seams and joints.

To produce such products, polystyrene foam is used, which undergoes a certain processing, which provides the product with a perfectly white surface. The texture of the tile can be smooth or with a relief pattern. The variety of textures allows you to implement many options for non-standard decoration of the ceiling surface in rooms for various purposes– this could be a kitchen, living room, hallway or bathroom. The products perfectly imitate the texture of natural materials, such as wood carving, as well as decorative plaster and stucco options.

The thickness of the elements varies between 3-15 mm, so this ceiling decoration does not reduce the height of the room, in comparison with other construction products used for the same needs. Installation work do not take much time - the products are easily and quickly glued to the base.

The tiles, as a rule, have dimensions of 50x50 centimeters, which allows even one specialist to carry out the work of laying them, using a minimum auxiliary tools. However, it is produced not only square shape, thanks to which you can lay out various original patterns on the ceiling.

Kinds

Products of this type are produced according to three various technologies, albeit using the same material. Seamless tiles are classified based on the production method. The following types of products are distinguished:

  • Pressed tiles. Manufactured by stamping under high temperature. During production, polystyrene sheets are compacted. The elements produced in this way have a thickness of 7 mm and a square shape of 50x50 centimeters. These tiles are sent to the shelves in a package of 8 pieces.
  • Injection products are produced in thicknesses from 8 to 14 mm, of regular geometry, with a deep pattern on the surface. The production process of this type consists of sintering raw materials in special containers of a given shape at high temperatures Oh.
  • Extruded tiles is produced by mixing polystyrene with substances that acquire good foaming properties under pressure and high temperatures. The resulting mass in the form of strips is processed with film and divided into individual elements. The film allows you to repeat the color and texture of natural materials - wood, stone or plaster and various metals. The thickness of the extruded tiles is 2-5 mm. This product has high cost, the most cheap tiles presented in white.

Based on their shape, ceiling tiles are divided into two types:

  1. with smooth edges - products in the shape of a square, due to the peculiarity of the edges, they fit as closely as possible to each other during installation;
  2. with irregularly shaped edges - this category of material is represented by products from designer brands. The use of such tiles allows you to give the interior of the room a unique and original style.

How to choose?

To really buy good material To finish the ceiling, experts advise adhering to some rules:

  • Products must have an even and smooth shape, unless otherwise provided by the presence of a specific pattern and edge design options. If the tile has a pattern, it must be clear and without any defects.
  • Particular attention should be paid to the edges of the elements. The quality of this component determines the condition finished coating on the ceiling, as well as its visual appeal and the invisibility of seams.
  • Reverse side Tiles should be checked for dents or bulges. Such defects are formed due to the heterogeneity of polystyrene foam granules.
  • The strength level is tested very simple method: you need to take the product by the edge and hold it in the air for a couple of seconds. If the product is of poor quality, a crack will form on it.

A ceiling that will be finished with seamless tiles, in addition to its excellent aesthetic properties, will also be distinguished by its affordable and affordable cost. The price range for this type of finishing material may vary somewhat depending on the tile manufacturer, but in general its cheapness remains unchanged.

Design and texture

Seamless tiles are guaranteed to be beautiful solution for decorating the ceiling surface in any interior. The tiles have many texture options, and the color solutions attract with their diversity. Therefore, it is worth thinking carefully about the compatibility of texture and color so that the result does not disappoint and is acceptable in each specific case.

In particular, this applies to small rooms, the finishing and design of which should visually increase their area. Colored products can serve as an excellent assistant in solving this problem.

There are a number of win-win ways visual magnification room spaces that many designers use:

  • a combination of tiles and mirror panels on the ceiling, as well as on the walls or wardrobes;
  • decorating walls with wallpaper in light colors;
  • ceiling tile decoration light shades.

As for harmonious color compatibility, for example, Blue colour It is better to combine with warm colors, and it is better not to use bright red shades when decorating ceilings, as they create the effect of a low ceiling in the room.

Elegant stucco molding looks very luxurious on the ceiling, and seamless tiles can imitate such decor.

In this case, it is better to opt for light and warm shades.

A wide range of colors and textures of seamless tiles allow you to decorate the ceiling in a room in any style, which is an obvious advantage of the material.

Extruded tiles are available in a wide variety all kinds of decor, among which imitation of natural materials is in great demand, mirror surfaces, as well as a modern 3D format.

Polystyrene ceiling panels are an inexpensive and practical alternative suspended ceiling. Polystyrene is a thermoplastic polymer that easily takes the desired shape. It is used to make tiles with a variety of reliefs: abstract patterns, imitation wood, marble or fabric.

Ceiling panels not only look impressive, but also have soundproofing properties and are not subject to rotting, as well as the appearance of mold or mildew. Please note: they should not be placed at a distance of less than 30 cm from heating devices and lamps, as the polystyrene may melt. Do not allow direct contact with the ceiling surface. sun rays: This can cause it to take on a yellow tint.

Ceiling tiles can be injected or extruded. In the first case, the material is poured into a special mold and exposed to high temperature. The result is a fairly durable moisture- and heat-resistant product. Extruded tiles are made by simultaneous molding and pressing. Thanks to high density, low porosity and water-repellent impregnations, it is considered the most durable and moisture-resistant option.

Ceiling panels are easy to install even without special skills. All you need is glue and a knife to cut the tiles. You can buy everything you need for ceiling decoration in our hypermarkets at an affordable price.

The category has others useful goods, which you should pay attention to.

Seamless ceiling tiles will help create a beautiful and original relief on the ceiling surface, transforming the interior. In this case, the material will not require significant financial investment, and installation of the panels can be done easily with your own hands.

What is seamless tile

Seamless ceiling tiles are a classic covering in the form of slabs of regular square shape, with specially designed edges that make the connection with adjacent elements almost invisible. As a result, the finished surface acquires perfect integrity, and the boundaries of the transition from one slab to another are almost impossible to distinguish. Thanks to this feature of seamless tiles, designers often include this finishing method in their projects.

According to the manufacturing technology, it is assumed that a material such as seamless tiles can be divided into three main types:

  • pressed. It is made from foamed polystyrene through a hot stamping process. In this case, the sheets are compacted as much as possible, and finished goods have a thickness of 5-7 mm. A standard package of 8 pieces is enough to cover 2 m² of ceiling surface. Among the advantages of such tiles are low cost;
  • injection It is more durable and 9-14 mm thick. Products are made in the correct geometric shape with a deep relief pattern applied to the elements;
  • extruded– the strongest and most durable type, the thickness of which does not exceed 3 mm.

A seamless ceiling can have different contours. In this case, the external pattern on the product is applied in such a way that when docking individual elements creating the image was straightforward, and the connection points remained invisible.

Advantages and disadvantages of tiles

Seamless ceiling tiles have the following advantages:

  • ease of installation and maintenance;
  • moisture resistance and fire safety;
  • wide range of products, big choice shades;
  • good heat and sound insulation properties;
  • the material perfectly masks flaws on the base ceiling surface;
  • environmental component included in the products pure material will not cause harm to health;
  • acceptable price.

However, such tiles also have disadvantages. These include:

  • it requires careful handling. Even minor mechanical impact during installation or transportation can damage the panels;
  • does not tolerate temperature fluctuations well;
  • has low air permeability.

To ensure that seamless ceiling tiles serve you for many years, when choosing products, follow the following rules:

  • carefully examine the back of the squares. It should be smooth, without noticeable flaws, cracks, chips or dents. If the listed defects are present on the surface, this means that violations were committed during the production process;
  • the most close attention must be given to the edges. Even minor irregularities will make the joints on the ceiling noticeable;
  • Pay attention to the clarity of the pattern and relief on the front side of the slabs. There should be no unnecessary indentations on them;
  • take one element by the corner and lift it. If the material is of high quality, it will not bend or break.

Reliable must meet the following requirements:

  • have good adhesion properties, provide high degree adhesion of products to the surface being finished;
  • provide coverage long term operation without the need to change or modify its individual sections;
  • An important point is the consumption of the composition, which depends on the level of adhesion. How higher value has this indicator, the less glue will be consumed;
  • the glue should adhere equally well to the surface, regardless of the thickness of the layer. The properties of modern adhesive compositions make it possible to use them on uneven surfaces. For example, when there are quite large defects on the ceiling - concrete sagging or cracks.

Installation procedure

How to perform the correct material calculation

Before you begin installing ceiling tiles, you will need to calculate required quantity elements. To determine them, you need to find the area of the ceiling surface and find out the size of the panels. Products are usually produced standard sizes 50 by 50 cm in packs of 8 pcs. One such package will be enough to finish two square meters ceiling.

Having counted required amount material, purchase it with a margin of 10-15%, in case the dimensions of the ceiling are not a multiple of the sides of the products, or a defect occurs during the installation process.

Required Tools

Repairs will require a small amount standard tools. These include:

  • a simple pencil and nylon thread for marking;
  • roulette;
  • spatula for applying glue and distributing it;
  • stationery or construction knife.

Materials you need to purchase:

The surface of the ceiling for finishing must be perfectly flat, so you will need to prepare it in advance to make installation as easy as possible.

First of all, old layers of finishing materials are removed from the ceiling - paper wallpaper, whitewash, paint, that is, they completely clean it of previous coatings.

Cracks, chips, and irregularities are first filled with plaster, after which they are leveled. Next, a layer of primer is applied to the surface, which will improve the adhesive properties of the glue.

When preparatory work are completed, you can proceed to gluing.

Laying process

Laying seamless tiles begins with markings base surface ceiling. To do this, you will need to choose a mounting method: diagonal or parallel.

Before gluing the tiles to the ceiling, look at the back of the tiles. There are arrows there to serve as a guide. They should all point in the same direction.

If you decide to install tiles parallel to the walls, they should be laid in a square, gradually filling the ceiling space. The diagonal option involves installation from the center. In the first element, a hole for the chandelier is first cut. The next panels must be aligned evenly with the first part.

To make it easier to apply glue, use a spatula. Distribute the composition along the edges of the element, on its convex parts and in the middle. Before starting work, read the instructions to understand how long it takes for the glue to cure. Usually it does not exceed 15 minutes.

Products that are supposed to be glued near walls must be cut to size. It is important to respect the structure of the drawing and make a smooth transition between elements.

The very last thing to attach is a decorative plinth, designed to mask the gaps between the walls and the ceiling.

Design options

As a decorative element, seamless tiles are increasingly used in ceiling decoration. The variety of textures makes the material popular among consumers. Modern tiles can imitate wood, plaster stucco, decorative plaster, a natural stone and others natural materials. The color of the products also has a wide range.

For a classic style in the interior, it is better to choose smooth panels white, which will always be in trend. The chess pattern and geometric patterns on the ceiling look original.

Floral motifs, deep or superficial patterns, gold or silver plating create a large creative platform for the flight of designer imagination. The space of the room becomes interesting and individual with the help of tiles.

Installing a seamless tiled ceiling is not difficult to do yourself. But the end result will please you for a long time.

As a result, the result obtained allows appearance ceiling will fit harmoniously into any interior and look more aesthetically pleasing.

As already mentioned, to produce these products, polystyrene foam is used, which is subjected to special treatment, which ensures the creation of a perfectly flat and white ceiling surface. Such ceiling tiles made of polystyrene foam can be smooth or embossed.

The variety of textures provides the opportunity to implement options unusual decoration ceilings in rooms for various purposes - in the living room, kitchen, hallway and even in the bathroom. The panels qualitatively imitate the texture of natural materials, such as decorative plaster, stucco molding, and wood carving.

The thickness of seamless foam ceiling tiles can range from 3 to 15 millimeters, so this finishing option does not reduce the height of the room, unlike other types construction products, used for the same purpose. Installation of the panels will not take much time, since the elements can be easily and quickly glued to the rough base.

Typically, the dimensions of polystyrene foam tiles are 50x50 centimeters - this allows you to lay them even with your own hands, using a minimum of tools. But the panels come in both square and rectangular shapes, thanks to which all kinds of patterns can be created on the ceiling plane.

Types of seamless tiles

Panels of this type manufactured in accordance with three different technologies, but using the same raw materials. The classification of seamless panels is based on the production method.

The following types of finishing products are produced:

  1. Pressed products. For their manufacture, the stamping method is used at high temperatures. During the production process, polystyrene sheets are compacted. Tiles produced using this technology have a thickness of 7 millimeters and a square shape with a side of 50 centimeters. IN construction stores Products are sold in packs of 8 pieces.
  2. Injection tiles. They are made 8–14 centimeters thick with regular geometry, with deep patterns on the surface. The production process of such tiles consists of sintering raw materials in containers a certain shape at high temperatures.
  3. Extruded panels. During their production, polystyrene is mixed with components that, under the influence of high temperature and pressure, acquire good foaming characteristics. The resulting mass in the form of strips is treated with film and divided into slabs. Thanks to the presence of film, the panels have the color and texture of, for example, stone, wood, metals, plaster and other natural materials. The thickness of extruded products is 2-5 millimeters. These products are expensive, and the cheapest panels are white.

According to the shape, seamless ceiling tiles made of polystyrene foam are:

  • with smooth edges. The products are produced in the shape of a square. Due to the peculiarity of the edges during installation, they fit as tightly as possible to each other;
  • with irregular edges. These products belong to products manufactured under designer brands, and their use allows you to create an original style in your premises.

Choosing foam ceiling tiles

  2. The edges of the elements need to be given special attention. The final result depends on its quality, as well as attractive appearance finished coating and invisible seams.
  3. The reverse side of the products must be checked for defects in the form of bulges and dents.
  4. The degree of strength is tested using a simple method: the product is held in the air by the edge for a couple of seconds. If the tile is of poor quality, a crack will appear on it.
