Witcher 3 meditation not working. #2 Endless task list

Witcher 3 meditation not working. #2 Endless task list

The Witcher 3 - what is meditation for? Meditation is a way to regenerate health and supply potions and firecrackers.

Meditation is an important element of wandering the world of The Witchers. Its benefits are full revival of health points (but this does not apply to the two highest levels of difficulty!) And replenish the supply of potions and firecrackers.

For meditation in The Witcher 3 go either from the quick select wheel level (press the corresponding button, on consoles: □ / X, on PC: N), or from the game menu - the last tab. Now just select the meditation time and confirm.

You cannot meditate during the fight. So if you are fighting and you have no chance of winning, run away and meditate.

As already mentioned, on the first two difficulty levels, each meditation for an hour restore your health. This is a very practical skill when we run out of swallows (health elixir) and we don't have the right alcohol to make potions while meditating. Meanwhile, at the two highest difficulty levels, meditation will not resume To your health.

The Witcher 3 - what meditation is for

An important element of meditation is creating already appeared potions and fireworks. We mentioned in previous pages of the guide that you can't create potions or fireworks indefinitely - their first appearance means that Geralt can recreate them while meditating.

However, to produce potions and fireworks, you need at least one bottle strong alcohol- alkahestu, dwarf spirit or Thymerian rye. The Witcher will consume strong alcohol and thus update the stocks of all invented potions and firecrackers.

It is also worth remembering that in many cases, when performing main or side tasks, meditation will not be available. This has a basis in the story: it would be strange if Geralt suddenly starts an hour of meditation in the heat of the plot. However, it is also a certain kind of fun: without meditation, you only have what you were able to prepare before - and therefore the mixtures and oils. So let's prepare properly before you go on a more serious mission.

Meditation also speeds up time. Some missions start at a certain time (for example, at midnight in a certain place) or require a return on the second day. Then meditation will allow you to wait for that time and start working at the appointed time.

The final benefit of meditation is the ability to choose the time of day or night that you want to travel and enjoy the views. When the storm breaks it's dark and ugly, it's better to wait and start working when it's a much nicer car. In addition, there is nothing more soothing than waking up before sunrise and marveling at how the world of The Witcher 3 changes while riding a horse at dawn.

The mod adds the ability to meditate in real time to the Witcher 3 game: by pressing a key, Geralt sits in a meditation pose and time begins to accelerate. No obscuring menu - meditation is as built into the game world as possible.

Update:2.2
- Fixed a bug with real-time meditation breaking the "Place of Power" animation.
- Fixed a bug with refill interval being two hours instead of one.

Update:2.1
- Mod code rewritten almost from scratch, technically it's a new mod, so don't forget to completely remove the entire "modFriendlyMeditation" folder from the MODS folder in the game.
- Added preset for "Cooking" in mod settings menu.
- Added option to disable mod text messages.
- The mod is now fully integrated into the game's meditation menu: select the time and start meditation, close the menu and start the real time of meditation; the menu is available during meditation and you can change the end time and stop the meditation from the menu; tested and confirmed to work with quests that require the use of in-game meditation to trigger a specific event.
- You can still use hotkeys to start/end meditation like you did in previous versions of the mod.
- Added hotkey (End by default) to quickly turn on and off campfire/meditation without campfire.
- The Meditation Camera is now available and fully customizable via the in-game mod menu with three presets to choose from.
- Health and replenishment options have been removed from the mod (see "Preparation" section in the mod's settings menu).

More:
* The standard meditation menu simply resets effects and rewinds time, while real-time meditation updates the effects in effect, taking into account the acceleration of time during meditation. This means that all effects from potions and skills such as the Sun and Stars continue to work during meditation and restore Geralt's health.
* Like standard meditation, real-time meditation replenishes alchemy potions/bombs after one hour of meditation.
* Real-time meditation uses a special camera that is fully configurable in the mod menu, three different presets are available for settings: the camera looks at Geralt, the camera looks at the world from behind Geralt, and the usual camera with an increased viewing angle. The dedicated camera can be disabled in the settings.
* The meditation key has several modes (see the mod settings menu): time acceleration, acceleration switching, entering meditation mode. In the first case, Geralt meditates in accelerated time while the meditation key is held down. In the second, the first key press starts the acceleration of time, and the second one stops it. In the latter mode, holding down a key turns on meditation without speeding up time, time is accelerated by holding a separate key - this mode can be used in combination with the "survey" camera mode to simply enjoy the world around you.

Note:
The mod does not change the save, so installing / removing in the middle of the passage is safe.

Default key assignments:
===============================
"Hold N" ("hold down the right stick of the controller") - meditation in real time;
"Hold spacebar" ("hold down the left stick of the controller") - speed up time.
"Press End" - on / off kindling a fire during meditation.
"Press C" ("hold down the Y button of the controller") - stop meditation in the meditation menu.

Customization:
==========
All options are available in the in-game menu - look for "Mods" and "Friendly Meditation".

Requirements:
The Witcher 3 version 1.30/1.31/1.32

Installation:
==========
To install the mod, it is recommended to use The Witcher 3 Mod Manager (TW3MM), available for download on Nexus Mods. TW3MM installs all parts of the mod automatically, no additional manual editing of files is required.
(NMM) does not install the mod completely, because. it does not support setting menus and hotkeys, so NMM users still need to go through steps 3 and 4 of manual installation!

Resolving conflicts with other mods
===================================

Manual installation:
=================
1. Create a backup (optional)
Since some mods (including this one) change configuration files, it doesn't hurt to make a backup copy of the "\bin\config" folder (in case such mods have not been installed before and the folder is still vanilla).

2. Installing the main mod files
To install the main files of the mod, you need to unpack and copy the "modFriendlyMeditation" folder to "[Path where The Witcher 3 is installed]\Mods". If the "Mods" folder does not exist, it must be created. Core files can be installed using NMM, but keybindings and settings for the in-game menu will still need to be set manually (see below).

3. Setting the in-game menu and hotkeys
For the game menu to work, the modFMeditationConfig.xml file is required in the "[Path where The Witcher 3 is installed]\bin\config\r4game\user_config_matrix\pc" folder.
For the new hotkeys to work, they must be added to the file "[Path where The Witcher 3 is installed]\bin\config\r4game\user_config_matrix\pc\input.xml".

3.1. Quick installation
If you don't have other mods that add hotkeys, just copy the folder "[Path where The Witcher 3 is installed]\Mods\modFriendlyMeditation\bin" into the folder "[Path where The Witcher 3 is installed]". If done correctly, a window will appear asking if you want to overwrite the existing input.xml file. Select overwrite to replace the original input.xml file with the modified one.

3.2. Manual installation
If you already have other hotkey mods installed, you almost certainly don't want to overwrite input.xml. In this case, to install hotkeys, you need to open the files "[Path where The Witcher 3 is installed]\bin\config\r4game\user_config_matrix\pc\input.xml" and "[Path where The Witcher 3 is installed]\Mods\modFriendlyMeditation\bin \config\r4game\user_config_matrix\pc\input.xml" and copy the modFriendlyMeditation changes manually (they are placed inside the "modFriendlyMeditation begin" and "modFriendlyMeditation end" comments) to the same part of the existing file.

You also need to copy the file "[Path where The Witcher 3 is installed]\Mods\modFriendlyMeditation\bin\config\r4game\user_config_matrix\pc\modFMeditationConfig.xml" to the folder "[Path where The Witcher 3 is installed]\bin\config\r4game\ user_config_matrix\pc" to set the menu.

4. Initializing the default mod settings and hotkeys
The mod's settings are stored in the file "C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\The Witcher 3\user.settings".

Key bindings are stored in the file "C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\The Witcher 3\input.settings".

To initialize the mod settings by default, you need to open "C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\The Witcher 3\user.settings" and "[Path where The Witcher 3 is installed]\Mods\modFriendlyMeditation\user.settings.part .txt" from the mod. Select everything in the "user.settings.part.txt" file, copy and paste at the beginning of the "user.settings" file. If you skip this step, almost all the functions of the mod will be disabled and it will seem that the mod does not work or does not work correctly.

To initialize hotkeys, open "C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\The Witcher 3\input.settings" and "[Path where The Witcher 3 is installed]\Mods\modFriendlyMeditation\input.settings.part.txt" from the mod, select everything in the "input.settings.part.txt" file, copy and paste at the beginning of the "input.settings" file. If you skip this step, then the keys will be displayed in the menu, but you will not be able to assign them normally.

5. Resolving conflicts with other mods
In the presence of other mods, conflicts are resolved using the Script Merger program. At the same time, you need to make sure that all installed mods support your version of the game, otherwise conflicts will most likely not be resolved.

When updating:
===========
Removing the old version and installing a new one is the safest way. Moreover, if the mod was deleted via TW3MM/NMM, you need to make sure that the "\Mods\modFriendlyMeditation" folder has indeed been deleted. If there are no new keys and menu options in the changelog, then no other action is required other than installing the core files.

If the update contains new hotkeys, the easiest way is to delete the "C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\The Witcher 3\input.settings" file, run the game once to get the new file with default settings, and then repeat the steps 3 and 4 of the above installation process.

If the update contains new menu options, the easiest way is to delete the "C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\The Witcher 3\user.settings" file, run the game once to get the new file with default settings, and then repeat the steps 3 and 4 of the above installation process.

Attention! Don't forget to restore user settings after deleting input.settings and user.settings files!

If there are other mods, after installation, you need to delete the existing mergers in ScriptMerger and merge everything again.

Removal:
=========
If you installed the mod using TW3MM, just select the "delete" option and all parts of the mod will be removed completely automatically.
Don't forget to run Script Merger after uninstalling.

Manual removal:
================
1. Deleting the main files of the mod
Use NMM or manually delete the mod folder "[Path where The Witcher 3 is installed]\Mods\modFriendlyMeditation".

2. Removing menus and hotkeys
To remove the menu, delete the modFMeditationConfig.xml file from the "[Path where The Witcher 3 is installed]\bin\config\r4game\user_config_matrix\pc" folder.
To remove hotkeys, they must be removed from the file "[Path where The Witcher 3 is installed]\bin\config\r4game\user_config_matrix\pc\input.xml".

2.1. Quick deletion using a backup
If you have a backup of the folder "[Path where The Witcher 3 is installed]\bin\config" and no other mods that change configuration files, just delete the folder "[Path where The Witcher 3 is installed]\bin\config" and copy to place it in the "config" folder from the backup.

2.2. Manual removal
To remove hotkeys, open the file "[Path where The Witcher 3 is installed]\bin\config\r4game\user_config_matrix\pc\input.xml" and delete everything between the comments "modFriendlyMeditation begin" and "modFriendlyMeditation end".
To remove the menu, simply delete the file "[Path where The Witcher 3 is installed]\bin\config\r4game\user_config_matrix\pc\modFMeditationConfig.xml".

3. Conflicts with other mods
If there are other mods, after removal, you need to merge everything again in ScriptMerger.

Description:

The mod makes the meditation menu transparent (select the meditation time with the W, S keys or the up, down arrows), there are also campfire settings (during the game, press esc/settings/mods/Meditation UI).
Installation:
1) We throw the modMeditationUI folder into the mods folder.
2) We throw the bin folder into the root of the game over the original one.

Spoiler

Tested on v1.31 Steam and GOG (there should be no conflicts, but this is not certain), it won't work on v1.30 or catch a bunch of bugs.
