It means that we need to have a minimum set of numbers 0, 1, 2 and 3 - these are four numbers, there are two faces left, they are assigned to the numbers 4 and 5. In total, the following numbers are printed on the first die: 0, 1, 2 , 3, 4, 5. The second die can take values from 0 to 9. But 10 numbers cannot be displayed on 6 faces, right? But we can then move these cubes in places, which means that we can put the required numbers and the missing ones on it. That is, we apply the following numbers: 0, 1, 2, 3, 7, 8. In this way, we got a complete set from 0 to 8 and 9, which is also 6.

Well, for some reason, I immediately came up with the idea to make a "perpetual calendar". It will take quite a bit of time to make such a calendar, and besides, my daughter took an active part, and this, after all, is development. Such calendars are often made by prisoners (I will attach a photo below), in fact, according to the principle of this photo, this calendar was made, but only in a more colorful version.

After the base is ready, we move on to the dial. You can make it yourself, the easiest way is on a computer (whoever needs it, you can download such a ready-made template from the link in the description of the video), or print it yourself. You can also write, the Soviet stencil is well suited (if there is, of course), whoever remembers will understand which one.
I glued the template first on cardboard to stiffen it, and then glued it on top with wide adhesive tape so that it would wear out less.
Now it remains only to cut and cut into strips. I got three stripes (this is the number and day of the week). If desired, you can add more boxes and write, for example, a month.
Then I took an ordinary flexible magnet from an old souvenir, cut it into two parts and glued it to the back of the calendar. Due to this, it can be hung on a metal board at school, or at home on the refrigerator.
This magnet is enough to hold the weight of the calendar.
What is a perpetual calendar? This is a calendar that is designed for a large range of years. And like all calendars, it is designed to determine the day of the week. In fact, this is a grid for the selected year and month. Perpetual calendars have been used for a very long time. The first mention of them dates back to the beginning of the XIII century. If you want to make the base yourself, you need to cut out the following parts: a back, a lower base and two side backs. All parts are carefully coated with PVA glue and pasted over the workpiece with pre-prepared dough.
First, it will be better to prepare the bottom and sides. When the dough hardens (it is worth leaving it for a day), you can also take up the back, decorating it with decorative elements from the dough. It can be flowers, curls and leaves, as in the photo, or some kind of abstract pattern.
Having finished decorating the back panel, the blank is left in this form for a couple of days until it dries properly. After you can paint the workpiece. It is worth painting in those colors that are present in the interior of the room where the calendar will stand. Thus, the perpetual calendar will look the most harmonious.
If a ready-made wood blank was chosen as the basis, then in this case the procedure is somewhat different.
If you want to artificially age the structure, first paint over all the corners with dark brown paint and rub these places with wax. Next, all the details are primed and coated with acrylic paint of the desired shade. When everything dries, it is necessary to peel off the paint in those places where the wax was applied. This can be done with scissors, a dull knife, or a special tool called a palette knife.
Now you need to transfer the drawing to the base of the calendar. To do this, take napkins, choose the pattern you like, cut it out and glue it to the workpiece. The edges of the pattern are carefully sanded. When the edges become as thin as possible, they take the paint with which the entire workpiece is painted and use a thin brush to paint over the outlines of the pattern. Thus, the pattern fits perfectly into the surface and creates the feeling that it is applied directly to the tree.
Do-it-yourself numbers for the perpetual calendar
Now we need to create the calendar itself. The inscriptions and numbers printed on the cubes using photographic paper look very neat and beautiful.
First of all, print the background (if necessary). Then a calendar is printed on the same sheet. It should contain all twelve months and numbers: for one cube - 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 8 and for the other - 0, 1, 2, 5, 6 (aka 9), 7. Now the paper needs to be stratified. For this process to be successful, it is important to put the paper in the printer in the same position as it was in the stack.
When the calendar is printed, the sheet is placed in warm water and waited for several minutes. Then it is transferred to a smooth surface and the top layer begins to be peeled off. As a result, the drawing remains on a very thin film. As soon as the film dries, all the elements are cut out and glued to the surface of the cubes and bars. It is necessary to properly smooth the film on the surface so that no air bubbles remain inside.
The next step is to wipe the surface of all the elements of the perpetual calendar with a sponge slightly moistened with bitumen. Further, all parts are coated with water-based varnish in several layers. And in the end, with the help of 3D gel polish, they give the picture volume and liveliness. After all the elements are dry, the calendar can be used. This completes the master class.
The perpetual calendar will be a great gift for family and friends. Made with your own hands, it will have a double value. This original item will be the highlight of any interior. To decorate the perpetual calendar, we need the following materials:

To prepare our workpiece for work, we sand it with sandpaper (grain size P120 - P220), leveling out all the bumps and roughness.
We take acrylic primer, slightly dilute it with water to the consistency of liquid sour cream) and cover the perpetual calendar blank with one thin layer. The primer helps to level the surface, and also provides better adhesion of materials (varnishes and paints) to the surface.
My blank is made of pine and the pattern of the tree is clearly visible on it. I'll tell you straight away that I'll be working. very in thin layers, giving color to the work, but not trying to cover the natural pattern and texture of wood with paints.
If you do not want this effect, feel free to apply the primer in several layers (drying each layer, you can use a hair dryer to speed up this process!). Before applying the second layer of primer, the workpiece can be sanded again with sandpaper.
After the workpiece has dried, we take Ivory acrylic paint and paint our entire workpiece on all sides, including cubes and sticks, with a thin layer.
As you can see, my wood texture is clearly visible. In my opinion, this adds a certain country atmosphere to the work. I repeat, if you want a smooth painted surface that overlaps the texture, apply paint in several layers.
While our calendar dries, let's paint round blanks. I take acrylic primer and paint our nameplates with it.
On the pads, I apply primer in several layers. I apply the first layer with a brush. Dry, sanded with sandpaper.
I apply the second layer with tamping movements, picking up soil on a sponge for washing dishes. We dry the workpiece. If you are in a hurry, you can use a hair dryer to quickly dry, but it is better when the drying process proceeds naturally!
We take a fine-grained skin and sand the primed lining with it, smoothing the pimply surface that appeared from the sponge.
We repeat the same steps with a smaller overlay.
Let's get printing. Very carefully cut out the picture in a circle (the diameter of the picture should match the diameter of our overlays).
I deliberately chose a printout for this master class, and not a napkin or a decoupage card. You need to get used to working with the latest materials, and if you are doing decoupage for the first time, you don’t want to spoil the product with folds and irregularities at all.
The main advantages of decoupage cards and napkins are that they are thin. After gluing, the step between the napkin/card pattern and the surface to which it is affixed is reduced to a minimum. The paper for printing (ordinary office paper) is quite thick, therefore, when printouts are used in decoupage, they are most often thinned in a special way using adhesive tape. But we glue the drawing onto separate elements and that very step will not interfere with us at all.
Next, we need decoupage glue-lacquer. Many beginners believe that at first, creativity can also be glued to PVA: cheap and cheerful. But I recommend using good materials right away. PVA may turn yellow after a while, but decoupage glue does not.
Apply glue varnish on the linings in a not very thick layer, then carefully attach the cut out fragments so that the diameter of the nameplate matches the diameter of the picture. After that, we apply glue varnish on top again for a strong fixation.
Apply decoupage adhesive varnish with a wide flat brush from the center to the edges of the cut out image. We dry.
While our decorative elements are drying, we will cover the entire calendar blank with acrylic varnish, including cubes and sticks. This is necessary to protect our product from damage, and to secure the previous layers.
This layer of varnish will come in handy when we work with paint and stencils in the future. After all, if we accidentally make a mistake or smear the paint, it will be easy to wash it off the varnished surface with water, and not damage the lower layers.
When everything is dry, we take a stencil with dates and months. We put it on our cubes with sticks, wondering how it will look. If everything suits us, we do the following.
Mixing Ivory Acrylic Paint with Lilac Paint. Voila! We got a beautiful soft pink color! We will need it to apply the names of months and numbers through a stencil.
We apply paint. You need to take it on a brush quite a bit, it is better to beat off excess paint on a napkin or piece of paper, making the brush semi-dry! If you miss this moment, and there is too much paint, it will simply flow under the stencil and the drawing will be smeared.
You can also apply paint by typing it on a sponge.
About drawing numbers. How to correctly arrange the numbers on the cubes in the perpetual calendar? The number of faces on both cubes is twelve, and the days in the months, you see, are much more. Therefore, it is very important to correctly put the numbers on the cubes.
Numbers of the first die: on the sides 1, 2, 3, 4; top 8; bottom 0. Numbers of the second cube: on the sides 0, 7, 2, 6; top 5; bottom 1.
Numbers on the first die: 1, 0, 2, 6, 7, 8; and on the second: 1, 0, 2, 3, 4, 5.
I wanted to shade the numbers and months with white acrylic paint! Therefore, we take the stencil and move it a little to the right, a couple of millimeters from the numbers and letters applied in the last step. And paint it white.
We leave to dry. Let's start painting the edges of the overlays. Mixing Ivory, White and Yellow Acrylic Paints. As a result, we got a very light pale lemon. They will paint the edges.
We cover the overlay with acrylic glossy varnish.
We apply the painted circle to the calendar to see if everything looks harmonious. If everything suits, we repeat the same thing with a circle of small diameter.
Cubes and bars are also varnished.
Technique for implanting an image into varnish
Also today, in addition to the usual decoupage, we will consider the technique of implanting an image into varnish. This is a very simple technique suitable for beginners. Its main plus is, again, working with self-printed images. After all, it's great when the choice of a picture does not depend on the manufacturer of decoupage napkins, but completely depends on your taste and desire.
We will work on the example of a printout with the inscription "handmade". The first and most important thing to remember in the implantation technique: the printout drawing must be printed in a mirror image! You can flip a picture in a mirror image on a computer in any graphic editor and photo viewer.
Then we put the cut out fragment on the file face up, and cover it abundantly (but not greasy) with acrylic glossy varnish.
The surface of the product in the place where you plan to stick the picture (in this case, I chose the bottom of the workpiece) is also covered with acrylic glossy varnish.
We glue the image "face" into the varnish. Press well, smooth. We try so that the varnish does not get on the paper surface from the top side. If this happens, gently wipe the varnish off the paper with a cloth. Leave to dry for at least six hours. Better yet, forget about the product for the whole night.
Next, we take a plate, pour some water into it, moisten the paper, dip our finger and begin to gently roll up our glued paper fragment. Try not to be too zealous, otherwise you risk erasing the inscription itself! We act gently and slowly. Add water, wash the pellets.
By the way, now the image has turned over and appeared before us in its original, not mirrored form!
How do you know when it's time to stop? When the image has developed and dried, see if there is a hazy whitish coating on it. If so, then not all the paper has rolled up, and you can rub the image with water a little more.
When the developed inscription satisfies you with its appearance and no whitish streaks remain on it, we protect the surface with acrylic varnish.
A very simple technique that allows you to implant any image into the varnish and does not leave that same step between the surface and the pattern in decoupage.
We glue a large overlay on the Moment glue in the center of the workpiece. And I glued a small overlay in the center on the reverse side, in case the calendar will not stand against the wall, but on an open table, for example.
