Window profile options. The best profiles for plastic windows - review, reviews, recommendations. Decorative possibilities of profiles

We will analyze each type of profile, and also describe the properties in more detail, so that you can make the best choice and so that plastic windows will delight you for many years.

Many people have realized the advantages of modern plastic windows over former wooden structures. Plastic windows are incomparably more airtight than wooden ones, which ensures good thermal insulation and sound insulation of the window, and unpleasant odors from the street do not get inside.

Even double-chamber plastic windows are much warmer than wooden ones; their installation will lead to a significant reduction in heat loss, which means savings. How to choose the right window profile and purchase the best windows so that the price matches the quality. This article will help you understand this issue.

Helpful information:

In addition, the preservation of heat in the apartment, of course, depends on the plastic window itself, namely on its quality. However, the installation of PVC windows also plays an important role.

The profile for a PVC window now meets certain standards, and the best among them simply does not exist. It is divided into three classes: “Economy”, “Standard” and “Premium”. The main thing is that there is a difference between classes, but within a class there is absolutely no difference.

  • “Economy” is the main task of the window, to show that it is plastic. There are no advantages or disadvantages to such a profile. Such windows are installed in most new buildings. At the same time, according to experts: windows from the economy class profile belong in the trash container.
  • “Standard” – has an optimal price-quality ratio. That is, these are windows whose quality is already high, but at the same time there is no inflated self-esteem. This type of profile complies with the Euro standard when performing renovations in apartments. The profile has elastic seals, durable fittings and excellent appearance.
  • “Premium” – primarily emphasizes the status of the owner, for those people who do not have a limit on their family budget.

All the stories about how my profile is whiter, and mine is warmer, and mine is straighter are just a marketing ploy, or an attempt to extract as much money from you as possible.

Sealing of double-glazed windows

The double-glazed window is not part of the window profile, but the assembly of the window as a whole depends on the quality of its seal. Here, when choosing, you need to take into account several circumstances:

  • Even in a budget window, the sealing collar should be without cuts and solid. The cut does not affect heat transfer, but will serve as a kind of nursery for the breeding of infection, as with a single seal. Many people recommend sealing the cut with silicone, but due to thermal deformations, microcracks will soon appear.
  • The seal of the frame and glass unit itself must be rubber. Manufacturers often install polyurethane expansion joints; when the window is deformed, they flatten, which leads to sagging of the glass unit in the frame and all the problems described above appear. Will have to do it more often.

A few words about window fittings

When choosing high-quality plastic windows, in addition to the above profiles and double-glazed windows, you need to pay attention to the window fittings, which must be manufactured according to uniform European standards. Then, in any weather, there will be no problems with opening/closing the window.

The fittings should not oxidize or rust. In the window design, all hinges must be hidden, which means the profile should not allow water to flow in. If there is a single seal, condensation will still collect on the hinges, so the seal must be double.

The window frame should have adjustable ventilation slots, thanks to which the window itself will open less, which will increase the service life of the plastic window.

Whose window profile is the best?

It is important to know the manufacturer of plastic windows that value their name. This, of course, serves as an additional guarantee of the quality of the windows.

There is a huge number of companies producing window profiles on the market. The most famous: Montblanc, Salamander, Aluplast, Velux, Exprof, Provedal, Gealan, Vitrage, Brugmann, Veka and others. They have gained their authority through the production of high-quality windows.

The first series of PVC windows was released in Germany. To this day, German profiles, in particular KBE and Rehau, are very popular among buyers. Below we will try to compare the profiles of plastic windows from some leading manufacturers and note their advantages and disadvantages.

At the KVE profile There are three main modifications from German manufacturers: the budget option “Expert”, the optimal option “Extra” and the more expensive energy-efficient option “Etalon”. All KBE profile windows are very durable, aesthetically pleasing, environmentally friendly, have high levels of sound and heat insulation, are resistant to various temperature fluctuations, are easy to maintain, and climate control systems in the “Etalon” modification can be used. The minimum price for this profile starts from 12 thousand rubles. The disadvantages of the KBE profile include its gray color, which does not always harmoniously suit the interior of the room.

Very popular nowadays REHAU profiles, also from German manufacturers. Such profiles are very aesthetic, durable, environmentally friendly, also easy to maintain, have low thermal conductivity, such structures can be equipped with a special locking system that will make it impossible to enter the room through the window. Also, these profiles have a very convenient climate control function. The price for these profiles starts from 13.5 thousand rubles. A minor drawback is that the reinforced chamber is small in size, and, as a result, the height of the window sash is reduced.

Veka profiles were very common in our country and have already proven their durability. However, recently the demand for these profiles has dropped significantly. This happened after the discovery of elevated levels of lead in the profiles, which negatively affects people's health.

Profiles of the Belgian concern Deceuninck have proven themselves to be reliable and excellent quality. Two types of profile data are offered: “Favorite” and “Bautek”. The profiles are popular in the modern construction market and are not inferior in all respects to premium systems. The price of these profiles is from 14.5 thousand rubles. The disadvantages include the fact that the Bautek system is not suitable for every home.

It is not uncommon that sellers only know the name of the manufacturer’s company, and are completely unaware of the technical characteristics of the window profile itself. This is where the lies begin: cheaper goods are passed off as higher quality and more expensive.

When choosing, remember that the best manufacturer simply does not exist; do not be fooled by the seller’s persuasion to purchase the best profile - check exactly the class. Otherwise, you will be sold an “Economy” class profile with a single seal at the price of the “Standard” class. Choosing a profile for a window is not only about the quality of the window as a whole, but also about comfortable living in an apartment where good plastic windows are installed.

Now, based on the material presented, and paying attention to the advantages and disadvantages of profiles from well-known companies, you can try to choose high-quality plastic window profiles that are suitable specifically for your home.

Plastic windows with Internova profile

A significant argument in favor of Internova windows is the slow destruction of plastic under the influence of ultraviolet radiation. To achieve this effect, the company has developed and patented an exclusive formulation of plastic additives, which is kept secret.

Currently, in the Russian market of window products, despite the increasing number of sales of wooden and aluminum structures, plastic windows remain the leader. This is facilitated by a lot of advantages that PVC products have. The main ones, of course, are excellent heat and sound insulation, long service life, the ability to use additional accessories that increase the functionality of the window (mosquito net, thermometer, etc.), as well as excellent appearance coupled with an affordable price.

As you know, the basis of plastic windows is the profile. In the entire light-transmitting structure, its share accounts for approximately 10% of the total area of the product. The remaining 90% is occupied by double glazing.

It is no secret that all PVC profiles included in the windows sold are the same. In order to choose the best option that would fully meet the requirements for appearance, level of sound and heat insulation, as well as price, the buyer needs to have an understanding of each window element and be able to freely operate with technical terms associated with each of its components.

In this article we will take a detailed look at the main points that you should pay attention to when choosing a window profile, describe its design, and explain the meaning of basic technical terms.

How many cameras should a plastic window have?

The image is clickable.

When considering the characteristics of the light-transmitting PVC structure model you are interested in, special attention should be paid to three points:

  • profile;

The most significant characteristic of a profile is its chamberness, that is, how many chambers it consists of. Their number directly determines how well the plastic profile retains heat.

Profile with three cameras. For residents of regions where cool weather conditions reign most of the year, the most preferable option is a three-chamber window profile. Three chambers reliably protect the structure from blowing, which means they perfectly retain heat in the room. In addition to this, they have a built-in metal frame designed to strengthen the plastic sidewalls. The three-chamber profile of a plastic window, as a rule, has a width of 5.8 cm.

Profile with four or five cameras. Products that contain four are either intended primarily for use in areas of the country where the summer season is not long and the temperature conditions clearly leave much to be desired. The protection provided by a profile with such an increased number of chambers copes with even the lowest temperatures (30 C and below). Therefore, inside the room, glazed with windows with a multi-chamber profile, it will be warm and cozy in any weather. It is worth noting that the use of such windows in warm regions of the country is little justified due to: mild weather conditions; prices that significantly exceed the cost of their three-chamber “brothers”.

Single-chamber and double-chamber profiles. They are mainly used for glazing apartments and private houses located in the southern part of Russia. The design flaw, which does not allow them to efficiently retain heat at low temperatures, is more than compensated for by their price - it is significantly lower than the cost of plastic window models, the profile of which has a larger number of chambers.

Structural elements of plastic profiles. Clicking on the mouse enlarges the image.

As a result. If you need maximum protection from the cold, opt for plastic window models with a 4 or 5 chamber profile. If there is no need for maximum heat conservation in a glazed room, for example, in the southern regions of the country where hot weather prevails, one- or two-chamber PVC structures should be chosen.

For most buyers, the best solution for their home would be to purchase three-chamber systems.

Criteria for selecting a profile, depending on its thickness.

Sectional profile. Click to enlarge.

An important characteristic of a PVC profile is its thickness. It depends, first of all, on the number of chambers and indirectly speaks about the ability of a window to retain heat: the wider the profile the warmer it is, as a rule.

When choosing the optimal profile width of a plastic window, it is necessary to take into account that there are only a small number of options, of which the following should be highlighted:

58 mm. The profile, 5.8 cm wide, is the most popular on the Russian window market. Compared to other, thicker brothers, it stands out due to its low price and fairly tolerable characteristics. As they say - cheap and cheerful. However, if the buyer pursues the goal of glazing a window opening without pretensions to super-results, then plastic window models with a 58 mm profile will fully satisfy his desire.

70 mm. The profile width of 7.0 cm allows the product to accommodate from 3 to 5 cameras. This thickness is more than enough to provide the glazed room with the appropriate level of heat and sound insulation.

90 mm. The widest profile option for PVC windows, which best copes with the issue of heat retention in the apartment. Contains up to 6 cameras. The main disadvantage of this 9.0 cm solution is its price, which is significantly higher than other similar products that have a smaller thickness.

There are also designs whose profile width is quite impressive 110-130 mm! Such windows are also called “Danish” or “Dutch”. They are, so to speak, designed for the amateur.

Cross-section of a double-glazed window.

A double-glazed window, as mentioned above, occupies about 90% of the area of the entire window. Today, there are three types of double-glazed windows, differing in the number of glasses installed in them:

  • Single glass option. Not suitable for installation in residential buildings due to the presence of insufficient characteristics of such a double-glazed window. The main flaws in the design of single-glazed windows are poor heat retention, as well as the lack of protection from. With the onset of the cold season, such disadvantages can contribute to the cooling of the room, as well as the formation of an impressive layer of ice on the glass.
  • Double glass design. It is the most optimal solution for installation in an apartment or private house due to its good price-performance ratio. The so-called heat loss is practically eliminated, and heat in a glazed room is retained much better than when using a double-glazed window that contains only one glass.
  • Three glass solution. With installed triple glazing, you can achieve not only the greatest heat savings, but also maximum protection of the apartment from all kinds of noise entering its territory from the street. Triple glazing has only two disadvantages - high cost and.

From the above information it follows that for most buyers the best option would be to purchase double-glazed windows, which will contain three glasses. If you lack funds, you can opt for double-glazed windows, which have the best price/quality ratio.

Selection of profile depending on manufacturer and class.

When choosing a suitable window profile, in addition to its characteristics, you should take into account its brand and class. Regarding the manufacturers of this type of product, it can be noted that today on the domestic window market you can find a fairly large number of brands that produce various models of plastic windows, differing in their constituent elements and, accordingly, characteristics.

Important! This issue was covered most fully in our previous materials entitled “” and “”.

Now a few words about choosing a profile class. There are two classes of such products:

Profile class A can be used both in residential buildings and geometrically complex facade structures. It has a long service life and has a wall thickness of at least 3 mm.

Class A profile. Click to enlarge.

Due to the design features, the class B profile is usually classified as a budget solution. The main factor influencing the price is the presence of a thin wall of the product. It is precisely because of the savings on the thickness of the material used for the chamber wall that manufacturers of PVC profiles class B were able to keep prices for their products extremely low. Price comes at a price, however, the buyer should remember that such a marketing ploy cannot but affect the service life of a plastic window equipped with such a profile - the service life of the system will be significantly shorter.

To summarize all of the above, I would like to draw attention to a very obvious fact: all the elements of a plastic window are interconnected. When choosing a warm double-glazed window, you should also take care of purchasing a warm window profile. Otherwise, the design, due to significant differences in technical characteristics, may turn out to be unbalanced.

When choosing a profile for a double-glazed window, every little detail is important. It would seem that all plastic windows are the same. However, in reality it turns out that the service life of approximately identical products is different, and the quality characteristics of some often leave much to be desired. Therefore, you need to approach the choice of profile with all responsibility.

Structure

The PVC profile is a plastic frame for double-glazed windows. Despite its apparent simplicity, this design is not simple. In the cross section of the profile, many air chambers are visible. Due to them, heat preservation is ensured. The more there are, the better the level of thermal protection.

For rigidity and reliability, a metal frame is inserted into the base of the profile. This process in production is called reinforcement. Due to reinforcement, the profile becomes stronger, eliminating the possibility of its deformation and resistance to changes in structure under the influence of negative environmental factors (for example, rain, gusty winds and frost). The profile material is polyvinyl chloride.

Regardless of the type of profile, the metal strips inside it are an important factor that you need to pay attention to when ordering. It is because of them that the profile is called metal-plastic

Longitudinal chambers in frame structures are responsible not only for heat conservation. They are frame reinforcers. External sections remove condensation that may occur inside cavities due to the difference in temperature indoors and outdoors.

At the bottom of the structure they are connected to the atmosphere. Due to this, droplets flow onto the street when they appear. The presence of such holes does not in any way affect the heat level in the room: the heat in the room does not decrease. Externally, such elements do not spoil the aesthetic appearance of the windows, since in most cases they are covered with plugs or are simply not visible against the background of the entire structure. The presence of these holes indicates a high-quality window. It will be more durable compared to a modification without them.

Peculiarities

Plastic profile (PVC) is the basis of windows. The reliability and durability of the entire structure depends on it. The doors and fittings are made from this material, and a double-glazed window is installed in it. The main characteristics of the window structure depend on it, including the level of sound insulation, as well as tightness. It also affects the preservation of heat in the room.

The metal-plastic profile consists of doors and frames with a different number of chambers (up to 8). The most popular products among buyers are options for 2-3 compartments. The fundamental factor in the technical characteristics is the size of the windows. Thus, varieties of panoramic type are characterized by lower noise and heat insulation properties in comparison with analogues of smaller sizes.

Due to the increased heat retention in such structures, during installation it is necessary to resort to polyurethane foam when filling the chambers. In addition, structures can have a fiberglass coating with stiffeners. One of the significant characteristics during installation is the thickness of the ceiling and the installation width. They are responsible for the rigidity of the profile structure and the reliability of the sashes themselves.

The modern plastic profile for windows differs from its analogues in the period of its appearance. Today its quality characteristics are quite high, as are its decorative capabilities. Technological and functional frames have long replaced their wood counterparts, making glazing reliable and ergonomic. Unlike wood, polyvinyl chloride does not shrink. Such windows will not deform during operation.

PVC windows can be installed in buildings of various types. They can replace wooden frames in houses whose active shrinkage phase has already ended. At the same time, residents will be protected not only from cold and noise, but also from dust. Typically, such designs enhance any, even boring, room design and look harmonious in the architectural context of buildings of various types. The ability of plastic to imitate any texture allows the use of such frames in any design style.

The profile surface can be matte, glossy or even three-dimensional. The color schemes of such products today are varied and can satisfy every taste. For example, you can choose a profile for expensive types of wood (wenge), or show an imitation of aged wood.

When more luxurious solutions are needed, stone-like plastic and even reptile skin are chosen. The design depends on the client’s preferences: brands today are often ready to fulfill the buyer’s individual order.

Characteristics

Among the main characteristics of this profile are:

  • resistance to oxidation, high temperature;
  • resistance to moisture and water;
  • health safety for household members;
  • aesthetic appeal;
  • low thermal conductivity coefficient;
  • variability of design forms;
  • fit into any historical architectural design;
  • varying degrees of complexity of window designs and mechanisms;
  • rich color palette.

This profile is easier to maintain than its wood counterpart. It does not need to be covered with stain or other paint over time. To clean the surface, in most cases it is enough to use a damp cloth or semi-dry sponge. However, in case of significant mechanical damage, scratches may form on it, which cannot be hidden in any way. This is the main disadvantage of such designs.

Options with different numbers of cameras differ in performance characteristics. For this reason, their choice is often based on the climatic conditions of the region. If the winters there are cold and windy, they try to choose cameras with a large number of compartments. In this case, preference is given to a larger thickness of the glass unit.

The profile itself is environmentally friendly. It is far from the harmful plastic that was produced in production before. Such a frame with sashes will not emit toxic substances during window operation. When choosing, it is important to pay attention to the number of cameras. If the glazing is cold, there must be at least 3 of them. Such profiles can be used for balconies, loggias and technical rooms. When it is planned to glaze heated buildings (school, house, apartment, restaurant), the number of required cameras increases to 5.

Kinds

In addition to polyvinyl chloride, aluminum or steel is used in the construction of PVC profiles for windows. Metal is used in horizontal and vertical elements . The production of profiles is subject to the requirements of GOST 30673-99 in our country and EN 12608 SR in European countries.

The profile of the first group is the best option and is intended for residential buildings. It is characterized by the thickness of the external walls of about 2.8 mm or more, the internal ones - from 2.5 mm. This variety is more resistant to accidental mechanical damage. The analogue of category “B” has smaller wall thickness.

The inner walls have a thickness of 2 mm, while the outer walls are 1/3 mm thinner. It seems like a little, but that is why such options are less resistant to mechanical loads. They can be used for heated and unheated rooms. The profile marked “C” is characterized by smaller thicknesses of both walls. In the language of specialists, it is called object-based.

Unlike the two previous options, it does not have a standardized thickness (it is clearly less than categories “A” and “B”). The disadvantage is the design of this type itself: it does not have opening doors. The solidity of such windows makes them less popular among buyers. These varieties are used in unheated rooms.

In fact, all existing types of plastic profiles for windows can be divided into 3 types:

  • economy;
  • standard;
  • lux.

Plastic window profiles come in main and additional profiles. On store shelves today you can buy the following profile:

  • connective;
  • stand;
  • reinforcing;
  • expansion;
  • U- and F-shaped.

These are tubular structures with blocks inside that make up the window frame. Chambers come in different shapes and volumes. Some of them are not connected either with each other or with the external environment. They are sealed, while others serve for ventilation. Depending on the size, air content and number of chambers, such profiles have different purposes. Some of them are used for technical premises, others can be used for residential buildings.

The L-shaped appearance is characterized by the strengthening of the two walls of the profile. The U-shaped type is the reinforcement of three walls. When closed, all parts are reinforced. In this case, the choice of profile depends, among other things, on the number of glasses in the structure. The cameras in the frames directly depend on this.

Varieties differ in the degree of frost resistance. Thus, frost-resistant versions marked “M” are designed for temperatures down to -50 degrees C (control load). Analogs of normal design are suitable for regions with sub-zero temperatures down to -20-40 degrees C. The difference depends on the type of base material used.

Dimensions

The profile parameters are determined by its width and thickness. In this regard, manufacturers try to adhere to standard values. A common frame version may have dimensions of 58x63x43 mm. The dimensions of the sash are 58x77x57 mm, the dimensions of the impost are 58x87x47 mm.

When the profile accommodates 6 chambers, its thickness can be 85-90 mm. At 70mm it usually has up to 5 cameras. In the first case, the profile is thick and is not suitable for every window opening. 70mm is considered the best option if up to 5 cameras are needed.

The thickness of the front wall of class “A” is on average 3 mm. For category “B” analogues, this figure is reduced by half a millimeter. The front side of classes “A” and “B” is thinner by 0.5 mm each from the values of the front wall. In category “C”, manufacturers do not indicate data. The installation width of the profile in some varieties can be 104, 110 and 130 mm.

How to choose?

On the modern market of such materials, PVC profiles are presented in a wide range. It's easy for a buyer to get confused. However, it is quite possible to make the right choice without being a specialist in the field of construction and installation. To begin with, you should pay attention to the material itself. The appearance of plastic can tell a lot about its quality.

When there is no decorative laminated film on the profile (imitation of the desired texture), one careful look is enough. High-quality material is distinguished by its monolithic structure. There should be no roughness or inhomogeneity in it. Any stains or uneven coloring are excluded. Noticeable graininess will indicate a counterfeit product.

You cannot buy such a PVC profile. Typically, such samples can be found in fly-by-night companies. Such companies offer installation of windows from their material. It is produced from cheap and harmful raw materials. Therefore, one cannot expect any quality characteristics from such a profile.

Yes, and you need to know about the manufacturer before purchasing components. To do this, you can find out more about the company’s reputation based on reviews.

It is important to understand that profiles have some differences between each other. They are cut on special machines to specific dimensions of structures. This applies not only to the sashes, but also to the posts and crossbars. Therefore, when purchasing, you need to purchase the entire set from one brand. Otherwise, you can’t count on flawless joining of elements, be it a connection by special welding or mechanical hardware.

Cameras

Before purchasing, it is important to inquire about the number of cameras. Usually, quality products from famous brands have more than 5 cavities. This is enough, while 7 cavities will be excess. In this case, we must not forget that it is not the number of chambers, but the thickness of the walls that is more important. After all, they will be responsible for the heat level to a greater extent.

In addition to options with air chambers, today on the market you can find PVC profiles in which the voids are filled not with air, but with a heat insulator. This is predominantly a foam-based material (expanded polystyrene) or fiberglass. This profile appeared on the market relatively recently.

However, experts believe that it is more effective in terms of heat retention. The disadvantage is the cost of modification, which is noticeably higher than traditional options.

Width

Since the choice of profile requires a comprehensive analysis, it is worth paying attention to the width of the PVC profile. It is often called installation depth in the language of specialists. In a standard profile, its indicator usually varies in the range of 50-80 mm. The number of cameras inside the element depends on it. Typically, with a smaller width, the structure has no more than 3 cavities. When the width exceeds 70 mm, their number increases from 4 to 5.

However, we cannot assume that the wider the profile, the more cameras it contains. This is not always true, because depending on the design features, the profile can be wide (for example, up to 9 cm), but with a minimum number of cavities. Such options may have excellent thermal insulation characteristics, since the air supply and the dimensions of the cavities themselves are important in this case.

In some cases, the installation depth can be 10 cm. Such options cover the window opening, so they often do not need to install external slopes. Their distinctive feature is the cross-sectional shape in the form of a trapezoid. These windows are called “Dutch”, “Danish”. They are certainly better than their usual counterparts, although not everyone can afford their installation.

Seat

It is impossible to buy a plastic profile without knowing the seating depth of the glass unit. It is this factor that is responsible for the type of glass unit, its quality, as well as heat-insulating properties. A good profile frame is a structure where the glass sheet is at least 1.5 cm away from the front cut, overlapping the profile fold.

If you plan to mount the frame to a depth of 5-7 cm, the seat for installing glass should be 1.8 cm. Few people pay attention to this aspect when purchasing a profile. However, if you ignore it and rely solely on the width of the profile and the number of cavities in it, you may not be surprised in the future that the double-glazed window fogs up or freezes.

In addition, it is worth paying attention to 4 factors:

  • Linear expansion. It should be minimal so that voids do not form during installation. The higher it is, the smaller the size of the window frame.
  • Elasticity coefficient. The presence of steel is a mandatory criterion for choosing a profile. In this case, the thickness of the internal walls (stiffeners) is important.
  • Resistance to temperature changes and UV rays. The composition of polyvinyl chloride must contain stabilizers to maintain inertness to loss of color and structure.
  • Seal. Among thermoplastic, thermopolymer, silicone and rubber, it is worth giving preference to products made from silicone. It is resistant to abrasion and inert to temperature changes.

Each profile is supplied with a certificate. It indicates the type of product and the place of its production.

Decor

White frames are considered old-fashioned today. It is being replaced by profiles with a laminated film that can imitate any texture. These can be neutral options (gray, black), as well as wood tones. Of course, such a solution for a window structure will cost more, but by paying 15-20% more, the buyer can equip his home taking into account the choice of a specific design.

If the choice is made in favor of a colored frame, the shade is selected taking into account the interior and exterior. The frame should look beautiful outside and inside. You can build on the color of existing furniture and doors. The color profile can have a related shade, but different color temperatures are undesirable. However, the choice of color profile has its own nuances.

Light tones won't heat up in the sun as much as, say, dark rocky or woody browns. This means that when choosing a colored profile, the presence of metal in the frame is mandatory, regardless of the size and shape of the frame. In addition to lamination, manufacturers paint the PVC profile with acrylic coating and complement it with metal or wood overlays. A decorative technique is the very shape of the elements, which today is more streamlined and can have a complex relief.

Today you can order plastic window profiles for oak, alder, fir, mahogany, malachite, and marble. For a more creative design, the shade palette includes yellow, turquoise, blue and wine shades. By laminating, you can decorate frames with a film with an aging effect. If desired, you can also choose coatings with a three-dimensional effect, creating a feeling of volume and relief.

Manufacturers and reviews

Today, many companies are ready to offer the buyer PVC profiles for windows. Several companies were included in the rating of highly rated professional craftsmen:

  • Rehau;
  • Veka;
  • Proplex.

Their products are of high quality and comply with established European standards. Such frames do not cause any complaints from professional craftsmen; they are easy to install and do not deform during operation. According to customer reviews, these products are characterized by high cost. However, the product is worth it, since the profiles of these brands are durable, resistant to mechanical stress and do not collapse over time.

Rehau

German profile manufacturer with a wide range of products. The brand targets all segments of society, producing economy-class, standard and luxury products. Options are designed for different climatic conditions. The number of chambers in a profile varies from 3 to 6. At the same time, the installation depth ranges from 6 to 8.5 cm. The products are characterized by a high level of noise and heat insulation. They come with gray seals.

Veka

Profile made in Russia, produced using German technology. Corresponds to class “A”, intended for use in any regions of Russia with different climatic backgrounds. Today it is presented in 8 different types with different ranges of installation depth (58-90 mm). The number of air chambers inside the profile ranges from 3 to 6. Equipped with a durable metal frame, it looks stylish, beautiful and modern.

KBE

This profile has the best quality indicators and technical characteristics in comparison with analogues of other brands. The products have a durable white color that does not fade in the sun or over time. The profile is presented in three options: “Standard”, “Expert”, “Expert+”.

These are “A” class products with a service life of about 40 years. There can be 3 or 5 chambers in the frame and sashes, 3-4 in the impost. Such products can be installed in rooms with a critical region temperature (up to -60).

Depending on the model, the profile may have additional horizontal jumpers, which ensures reliable fastening of the rivers and loops.

Proplex

The domestic manufacturer offers customers a profile created using Austrian technology. The Podolsk plant produces varieties with three and five air chambers with a system width of 5.8 and 7 cm. The width of the double-glazed window, depending on the profile model, can be 4-34 and 12-42 mm. The estimated service life of the product is about 60 years. The profile resistance during heat transfer is 0.78 and 0.81 m2C/W. The structures are distinguished by their whiteness and impact strength.

The rating lists the best manufacturers whose products have been tested by installers. In addition to the main companies, we can highlight products from the Mont Blanc, Trocal and Salamander brands. Good products can be purchased from Aluplast, Funke, Artek. If there is no brand profile from the rating in the assortment, you can pay attention to these options.

If choosing seems difficult, you can consult with the seller, noting the necessary questions in advance. For example, if the buyer lives in the southern region, there is no need to order a six- and seven-chamber profile. In this case, an analogue for 3 cameras will be sufficient.

To effectively protect against the cold, a resident of a high-rise building should not install a product with more than 4 chambers. A five-chamber design is enough for your house. However, it is worth starting from the reliability of the foundation, since the weight of the double-glazed window will be noticeable.

To prevent the window from deforming over time, before purchasing it is worth checking the availability of a profile to strengthen the frame. If it is missing, the window will not close well over time. In addition, its tightness will also suffer. In addition, you need to understand that a cheap profile cannot be of high quality. In an attempt to save money, you can lose on quality. And this will affect the reduction in the service life of the window.

When purchasing a profile, you need to pay attention to exactly how the frame is sealed. To avoid the accumulation of condensation, there should be 2 seals at the bottom of the frame. If at least 1 of them is missing, mold will appear on the profile over time. At the same time, the material of the seal itself also matters, which affects its quality characteristics.

For installation, varieties with a width of 58 mm are often purchased. This option is relevant for apartments in high-rise buildings and is present in every line of brands. Options with larger widths are considered premium products. They are more durable, reliable and differ in noise and thermal insulation capabilities compared to the first analogues. However, it is not always possible to install such structures in high-rise buildings in terms of their load on load-bearing floors.

Finally, it is worth noting an equally important nuance: the manufacturer and installer may be different companies. To prevent them from shifting responsibility for a poor-quality window onto each other in the future, it is important to choose the right material from the beginning. You need to go through each paragraph of the article and note what is appropriate in a particular case. In addition, you will have to study the installer’s rating so that the profile is installed as expected.

To avoid running into a counterfeit of a well-known brand, you should go to the manufacturer’s website and ask for the address of a specific store. Information about official suppliers will allow you to understand whether the store in your city really sells a brand profile. If the site administration gives an affirmative answer, you can buy the products. When purchasing a color version of a profile, it is important to look at each element for different shades: the window should look monolithic.

What are the best plastic windows? Advantages, disadvantages, reviews of popular PVC profiles

We are aware that by rating windows, we are thereby invading the territory of professionals who are very skeptical about the ratings of this product. But “Expert Price” would not be himself if he had not tried to rank everyone.

Which profile of plastic windows is better?

To understand the subtle nuances of the assessment, we had to study a considerable amount of informational texts, a huge number of all kinds of amateur and professional reviews, and conduct a small amount of our own research.

The product, the description of which so many copies have been broken, is in fact the most ordinary plastic stick, but, however, with a complex surface and internal structure. To give strength, there is a metal insert made of galvanized steel inside the profile, and internal plastic partitions create air chambers that ensure heat conservation. All. It seems, what is there to argue about? Steel will remain steel no matter what is done to it, but the plastic used by all companies is the same - polyvinyl chloride (PVC). It follows that the window profile of any production must be of the same quality. Is it so? And how do you choose the best from what is identical by definition?

Criteria for choosing a profile

Country of origin of the profile

Any company that recycles a window profile indicates its origin. At the same time, you can very often find the word “German” in the descriptive part. We recommend that you clarify what is meant by this word, because... Sellers like to use it to justify the high price of a finished window. The lion's share of this profile is produced in Russia using German technology. In this case, relatively cheap energy resources and labor are used, therefore, the cost of the product should differ from the profile produced in Germany.

Number of thermal insulation chambers

Of course, the most important criterion. It is believed that the more chambers, the better the thermal insulation. However, do not forget that an excessively large number of chambers can lead to the fact that the thermal conductivity coefficient can, on the contrary, increase due to the plastic partitions, which will act as a cooling radiator. Therefore, we definitely pay attention to the following criterion.

Profile width

When choosing a profile for a living room, it is better not to skimp on this parameter. Everything is simple here, the wider, the warmer. It is only worth noting that small-chamber wide profiles can be easily deformed, because have few stiffeners.

Number of double-glazed window chambers

Reinforcing steel insert

It comes with an open or solid contour. If there are no restrictions on strength, then we advise you to choose an open one, it is warmer.

KBE is another German company that has built enterprises in Russia, in particular, factories in Voskresensk and Khabarovsk. No special differences between the KBE profile and competitors' products were found. However, the cost of KBE is slightly lower. At the same time, the company’s profile is ISO certified, and the marketing move for issuing partner certificates is respectable. Let me explain: the company issues an “Official Partner Certificate” to the best profile processors and thus can indirectly influence the quality of the finished windows. I must make a reservation - this certificate does not provide any guarantees to the consumer.

Deceuninck's profile
Belgium, branch - Protvino

Photo: www.isskur.ru

The average price in the Russian Federation for windows measuring 1470x1420 from a profile 71 mm thick: 10,600 rubles

The Belgian concern The Deceuninck Group (Deceuninck Group) releases its own profile in the Moscow region. The production is not certified, which is strange, because all of the company's European factories are ISO certified. Whether this is due to unstable quality or whether management simply hasn’t gotten around to it yet is unknown. The profile “collected” the usual ratio of both positive and negative reviews. Product line:

  • Forward - 3 cameras, width 60 mm
  • Bautek - 3 chambers, width 71 mm
  • Favorite - 5 cameras, width 71 mm
  • Favorite Space - 6 cameras, width 76 mm

SOK profile
Syzran

Photo: www.okna-modern.ru

The average price in the Russian Federation for windows measuring 1470x1420 from a profile 72 mm thick: 11,900 rubles

Included in the list as a regular figure in Internet ratings. From the information gleaned from the website of the company SOK (Samara Window Constructions) you can easily find out that the company does not have its own production of window profiles. The “branded” profile is manufactured at the Profine concern plant (see KBE). This means that the profile is produced in accordance with international requirements and is ISO certified, which is not bad. But the question immediately arises about the high cost of windows made from this profile, the price of which is significantly higher than KBE windows. The choice of configurations is very small, only two types:

  • Corporate profile SOK-470 - 4 chambers, width 62 mm
  • Corporate profile SOK-570 - 5 chambers, width 72 mm

pros:

  • quality
  • unique camera arrangement

Minuses:

  • inflated cost of finished products
  • small selection

Typical reviews about SOK windows:
“JUICE is a normal profile, no better and no worse than many”
“I liked the profile, simple and strong”

Which plastic windows are still better to install?

And in the end, the main thing is that a careless window manufacturer or a handsless installer can turn the best profile into disgusting trash. Therefore, before ordering windows, consult with neighbors, friends or just acquaintances who have already contacted the company you have chosen. Remember that a profile is just a piece of plastic, which, although it is an important component of a window unit, its choice must still be justified in combination with such factors as reliable fittings, a good double-glazed window and the conscientiousness of the craftsmen.
