Having made an Abyssinian well with your own hands, it will be possible to extract water from the soil layer closest to the surface - sand. Water passing through a porous structure in most cases has sufficient high quality(this parameter must be checked in a laboratory), so there is no need to drill deeper and, accordingly, pay more.

Before drilling, you can ask your neighbors about the quality of water, and after the well is installed, its suitability for drinking and cooking is determined in a laboratory. At the same time, the Abyssinian well (needle well) has design differences and certain advantages when compared with a classic well, which, in accordance with its depth (to the sand layer), is called a sand well.

To determine which is best for you, an Abyssinian well or a sand well, pay attention to the following:

  • One of the main differences should be considered well size. Diameter casing pipe the Abyssinian well is much smaller - most often 1 inch. Due to this, it is also called a needle hole.
  • Is different water pumping principle– liquid enters the “needle” according to the principle of suction and is often under pressure. At the same time into the well large diameter water flows according to the principle of arrival.

Basic specifications Abyssinian well:

  • well depth usually no more than 8-10 meters, although in certain cases it can reach 12-20 meters. But if the water level in it is lower 8-9 meters, there will be problems with water supply using a surface pump,
  • performance– 0.5-3 m3/hour.

The needle well design is quite simple. For ease of immersion, the casing pipe consists of sections connected by couplings. The submersible end is equipped with a cone with a slot for water intake and a filter in its upper part.

Well components parameters:

  • pipe diameter for the Abyssinian well – from 2.5 to 7.5 cm,
  • the length of each segment is about 2 m,
  • length of the cone-shaped tip – 20-30 cm,
  • the cone diameter is selected 1-1.5 cm larger than the corresponding casing pipe parameter.

The pump for an Abyssinian well can be an external electric one, and in some cases (for periodic use, for example, only for watering a small garden), it is practiced to install a cheaper hand pump.

Advantages and disadvantages of needle well

Abyssinian wells have a number of advantages, which have led to their widespread use.

  • With a smaller diameter, the Abyssinian well, made by hand, is not inferior to its larger counterparts.
  • The source is equipped with surface pumps (more convenient for inspection and repair than submersible models).
  • An Abyssinian well installed with your own hands, thanks to its features, can become practical and convenient option where the use of a conventional well is not practical or even impossible.
  • With a small thickness of the sandy aquifer, it is easier to “catch” it with a thin casing pipe (in some cases, a do-it-yourself needle well is the only option).
  • The construction of an Abyssinian well does not require much space, so it is often done right in the house, in basement.
  • The immersion of the casing pipe of an Abyssinian well with a large thickness of the aquifer is arbitrary, while a classic well must be drilled to the aquitard - the clay layer located after the sand. This eliminates the possibility of water being drawn from the lower part of the sand layer, which often contains a large number of impurities, including dissolved iron. Thus, mineral composition The water in an Abyssinian well, built according to all the rules, is usually better than in a large-diameter well.
  • An igloo well, built and equipped with your own hands, silts up less, including due to the presence of pressure and intense water flow. In addition, it is easier to clean the “needle” casing.

For any owner of a house or cottage it is important low cost Abyssinian well and the ability to drill and equip an “igloo” in one day.

You will learn more about what types there are by reading our separate article. The depth from which it can lift water also depends on the type of pump.

What is it like? artesian well and the features of its structure are described in the material.

The main disadvantage of the Abyssinian well should be considered the possibility of contaminants entering the water from the surface due to the shallow depth of the intake. Because of this, you should carefully choose a place to install a needle well, ensuring maximum distance from landfills, latrines, cesspools and septic tanks, drainage ditches, showers, in which water goes directly into the soil under the booth, etc.).

Unfortunately, the Abyssinian well cannot be built on any soil, since hard rocky layers will be difficult to penetrate, and aquifers on a loam rather than a sandy layer will not provide water for such a design.

Ways to create an Abyssinian well yourself

The services of specialized companies performing water drilling and even renting special equipment are quite expensive. At the same time, there are several ways to make an Abyssinian well with your own hands.

Drilling

This method is often used to pass the soil to the quicksand, as a sandy layer saturated with water is called, which, due to its looseness, can crumble immediately after the drill moves through it. To avoid this, drilling a well is combined with immersing the casing.

Drills for the production of Abassinian needles can be welded in a home workshop. It is optimal to use two modifications:

  • frame drill, which is a U-shaped structure, and is used to pass through a dense clay layer,
  • a frame drill with a cylinder, which is installed inside the frame and serves to collect and subsequently evacuate soil from the canal.

The width of any type of drill must correspond to the diameter of the casing pipe.

The drilling technology is quite simple - the passage of soil layers is carried out sequentially, with a gradual increase in the working part using rods. At the stage of drilling with a drill with a cylinder, it is better to use a winch (purchased or assembled independently from a starter and cable, equipped with limit washers and installed on a stand). Such a device will make it easy to remove the drill, rods and soil accumulated in the cylinder from the channel, which together add up to considerable weight.

Hammering with a headstock and a headstock

The headstock is a cone-shaped element fixed to the rod using a thrust washer. The simple design allows for maximum efficiency.

The headstock sliding along the bar, falling after lifting, transfers energy to the headstock, due to which the bar enters the ground. In order to avoid destruction, the headstock cone must be made of more durable material than grandma. The thrust washer prevents the cone from flying off the rod even under very strong blows. On the contrary, at this time it “sits down” even more firmly.

Headstock driving with plug

To implement this method, they use an end headstock rather than a sliding one on the rod. To protect the threads of the rod, a plug is installed in the upper part. It is recommended to use headstocks of 30 kg or more.

Barbell hammering

Equipment for driving with a rod - hexagonal rods, the diameter of which allows them to be placed in the column. Each of them is equipped with a thread for increasing the length (internal on one side and external on the other). For reliable fastening, the length of the threaded sections must be at least 2 cm. The process of driving a casing pipe immersed in a drilled well involves throwing a rod into the cavity of the rod.

Necessary equipment

For self-construction An Abyssinian well will require tools and materials, which in most cases are available to most home craftsmen. What you need is easy to acquire.

Electrical equipment for the Abyssinian well:

Hand tools:

  • gas keys,
  • sledgehammer,
  • hammer.

Materials:

  • casing pipe in sections of 1-2 meters,
  • steel couplings for connecting them,
  • wire with a diameter of 0.2-0.3 mm and stainless steel galloon mesh for making a filter,
  • FUM tape or other material for sealing threaded connections.

Well equipment:

May be useful:

  • discs for rods up to 40 kg as an alternative to the driving headstock,
  • car clamps,
  • nuts and bolts,
  • thrust washer (when using a headstock).

Making a tip with a filter

Making a filter for an Abyssinian well with your own hands is quite simple. A piece of pipe (approximately 80 cm) with a cone-shaped tip is perforated - thin cuts are made or round holes are drilled. After this, wire is wound around the perforated area and a braided mesh of stainless material. The latter is fixed with clamps or soldered using special non-toxic tin solder.

Sequence of work

IN general view construction of an Abyssinian well borehole type is performed in the following sequence:

  1. A hole is dug out.
  2. The well is clogged.
  3. The required sound depth is determined (in clay soils advancement occurs silently, a grinding sound is heard in coarse sand, and a rustling sound in fine sand).
  4. After the sound appears, a control check is carried out - water is poured into the pipe, if it leaves quickly, then the depth is optimal, if it is slow, then the pipe must be immersed another 0.5 meters.
  5. A manual or electric pump is installed in the well.
  6. The well is pumped until clean water(if characteristics electric pump do not allow it to be used for dirty water, pumping is performed with a manual or drainage unit).

All work can easily be completed in part-time work, so, having started creating a well in the morning, by the evening you can enjoy clean and tasty water.

There is information on what it is, its types and materials of manufacture on our website.

Video

How to make an Abyssinian well with your own hands - a video that demonstrates the process of creating a needle well.

The most common pipe for the Abyssinian well, very cheap, the service life of which based on wells operating for more than 50 years is very long. With constant use of a well in the Moscow region, water completely fills everything inner space pipes and in the absence of contact with oxygen, corrosion forms only with outside pipes. It is more likely that a stainless steel pipe will begin to leak sand than a black pipe will rust. The only drawback of this pipe is its progressive corrosion during long periods of downtime.

Also very common, a little more expensive than black, it has especially become widespread in the last 20-30 years.

Today, SNiP does not prohibit the use of galvanized pipes in internal cold water supply systems, but when laying underground water supply Protection (cathodic, anodic) SNiP 2.05.06-85 must be carried out: Protection of pipelines from corrosion.

Corrosion of ferrous metals most often comes down to their oxidation and transformation into oxides. Corrosion iron pipe described by the simplified equation

4Fe + 3O2 + 2H2O = 2Fe2O3 H2O

Hydrated iron oxide Fe2O3·H2O is rust.

If you do not provide appropriate protection to the galvanized pipe of the Abyssinian well, then gradually, over many years, hydrogen ions (water) will approach the iron cathode and discharge, accepting electrons. Hydrogen atoms, when formed, combine to form an H2 molecule. The ion flows will be separated, this facilitates the electrochemical process. The zinc coating will be subject to dissolution (corrosion), while the iron will be protected for the time being. Zinc protects iron from corrosion. All of the above broth, which contains zinc, lead, magnesium, cadmium, antimony, and arsenic, will negatively affect your health for years.

Let's assume that they have provided you with cathodic protection Abyssinian well, but what about the one in which holes are drilled and a tip is welded, threads are cut on the pipes - all these processes were accompanied by heating, during which a large amount of harmful substances. By the way, heating a galvanized pipe for drinking water supply is prohibited by SNiP 3.05.01-85. In the USSR, to prevent pipe heating, thread rolling, rather than cutting, was used.

The best and most expensive material for an Abyssinian well in the Moscow region has become widespread recently. In favor of this material, we can say that most of the dishes in your home are made of stainless steel.

Polypropylene and HDPE pipes

It is quite difficult to make an Abyssinian well from these materials, so they are not widely used. There is a SanPiN for this material, negative reviews he does not have.

If available on your personal plot power lines, you can make it easier for yourself to raise water for the Abyssinian well.

Since the depth of such a water supply source is rather small, water is lifted from it surface pump, the inlet pipe of which is lowered into the pipe until it is filled with water. At the end of the inlet hose of such a pump, it is necessary to install an additional filter mesh.

Also, lifting water from an Abyssinian type well can be done using a submersible pumping device. However, this method will be more expensive than using surface device. Reason – high price submersible pumps with a small casing diameter. This is quite highly specialized equipment designed for pumping water from deep wells onto limestone or from artesian wells.

Arrangement of year-round operation of the Abyssinian well

If you live in country house or in the country all the time, including in the cold season, then it makes sense to think about year-round operation of an Abyssinian-type well.

The main problem in operating pumps and wells in winter period is low temperature on the surface of the earth. It can damage both water supply pipelines and pump equipment.

To prevent freezing, the pipeline supplying water from the well to the heated premises, as well as the pump pumping water, must be placed either in buildings with a constant positive temperature, or in a special container - a caisson.

It can be either a permanent structure buried below the soil freezing level or finished design made of iron or plastic, usually in the form of a barrel, also buried in the ground. The lower edge of the caisson must be located below the soil freezing line, and the water supply pipeline for your home should be placed at the same level. The caisson may have an additional sealing layer made of materials that are resistant to soil influence. The water supply pipeline can have both a passive insulating layer and an active heating system, for example, based on a heating cable.

As you can see, self-build Abyssinian-type wells and accompanying infrastructure are quite feasible even for people with minimal technological skills. With small start-up costs, the Abyssinian well may well become a source of permanent autonomous water supply for the domestic needs of your home, and when providing an additional source of drinking water.

general information

Today, water supply is a significant problem in dacha construction. This is explained by the fact that supplying water from the central pipeline is a complex and expensive process. Alternative option– dig a well, which requires significant labor costs and special permission. Some time ago, drilling of Abyssinian wells began to be widely used in the Russian Federation. It's simple and effective option solving the problem of water supply in the house.

Origin story

So what is an Abyssinian well? During the colonial wars, British troops carried out the Abyssinian operation. Military operations in the desert were difficult due to problems with water supply. Then the British began to use the Norton drill, which is a drilling device for extracting water. The colonialists were able to advance into the desert regions and completed the tasks they had set for themselves. After this, rumors about Abyssinian wells spread throughout all countries, and original title"Norton" was forgotten.

Two decades later, drilling an Abyssinian well was tested in Russia. The work was carried out by unskilled workers who made five wells. Drinking water was obtained in only three of them, and average speed filling was approximately one and a half buckets per minute. As a rule, the aquifer was located at a depth of 4 to 10 meters. Sometimes the drill would get stuck in the limestone layer, which would take another 30 minutes to remove.

Famous scientists have studied the Abyssinian wells, which, according to them, are still excellent option water supply After analyzing all the data, it became clear that digging a well is justified only if, due to geological conditions, drilling an Abyssinian well is impossible.

The main advantages of use

Drilling an Abyssinian well with your own hands has so many advantages that it is not enough to just list them. Let's explain the main pros and cons.

Low cash costs for the device

The maximum cost of a turnkey installation is rarely higher than 25 thousand rubles. average price is 14 thousand rubles, and equipment can be bought for 5 thousand. Compared to constructing a well, this is a very economical option.

Abyssinian well with your own hands, together with all the materials and mechanisms, will cost approximately 10 thousand rubles. It does not require application high quality materials. All work can be done with your own hands from scrap materials.

Fast and easy development

To perform this procedure, you do not need to use a drilling derrick or tripod. There is no need for driving a hole, an electric drive or drilling fluid. According to statistics, fluctuations in the depth of aquifers can range from 2 to 15 meters. No professional knowledge required. In almost a hundred percent of cases, two is enough healthy men– the water is ready within a day, and sometimes in a few hours.

Environmental Safety

If you don't deviate from technological process and correctly drive the well into the sand, then the possibility of penetration is completely eliminated groundwater to the water intake. A driven Abyssinian well in urban areas can produce water that is not much different from artesian water.

Full compliance with sanitary standards

Hard ones are not presented sanitary requirements. You can plug the well directly from the basement. With this embodiment, the work is easier, and their cost becomes less. The well does not freeze in winter time, therefore there is no need to construct a pit - artificial burial in the ground.

Long service life

The wells, clogged many years ago by the British, still provide water uninterruptedly and do not require special care. The thirty-year service life indicated in many sources is not the maximum. In fact, the well will function until the water runs out.

Does not require registration or special permits

For an Abyssinian well, you do not need to obtain permits. This is a significant plus. According to the law Russian Federation, the owner of the land has the right to extract minerals open method to a depth of five meters and develop water wells down to the very first layer that contains water. That is, it is no longer possible to extract artesian water. Those who are not too trusting can double-check this information themselves.

Norton projectile structure

An Abyssinian well means an igloo well. Immersion occurs using the percussion drilling method. Professionals rarely use this method water extraction due to the fact that at shallow depths it is almost impossible to reach the rod. The maximum development depth is a couple of tens of meters.

If the main goal is to drive to the first aquifer - needle well best option, due to ease of installation, economic benefits and efficiency. A water well has an additional name – “tube well”.

Installation under an Abyssinian well at the dacha consists of the following elements:

Drilling technology

Drilling technology can be exploratory or confident in nature. In the first case, you should think about purchasing special factory equipment, which costs approximately 7 thousand rubles. The tubular drill and string can be used many times. For example, if the first well is unsuitable, you can dismantle it and drill a second one.

When there is a well made within 50 meters, the equipment can be made with your own hands from scrap materials. Drilling process shock-rope method requires a certain physical strength, but the technology is simple:

  1. The projectile is being installed into the pit. It can also be suspended on a tripod or driven into the ground.
  2. The first rod is installed, onto which the headstock, headstock and upper clamp are put on. The latter must be securely tightened.
  3. The ropes are threaded into pulleys, pulling the woman until she reaches the very top. Then the ropes are released and the action is repeated.
  4. Depending on the recess, the clamps are rearranged, and the column is built up with other rods.

What mechanism should you use to drill?

A set of equipment for drilling an Abyssinian well with your own hands can be made from scrap materials. The main thing is to find pipes, the length of which should be one and a half dozen meters, and the diameter should be 80 millimeters. This will be needed if the scheme involves using submersible pumps.

Standard submersible pumps cannot be smaller than three inches. If there is a need to raise water to a height of more than 7 meters, you need to use top vacuum pumps(one is enough). Then the use of any pipes that should not bend during development is allowed.

Since the rules for installing a drilling rig were discussed above, let us clarify how to select the correct drill string and rods. It is always indicated here outside diameter pipes. However, when caliber is mentioned, the internal diameter is meant. Devices lowered into a pipe are always counted according to the outside.

When professional drilling of Abyssinian wells is carried out, the rods are joined with couplings at the factory. In the future they can be removed and dismember the column. But for a one-time development, you can replace the couplings with welded tubular scraps of a larger caliber. The rods are assembled with their skirts up, as there is a possibility of the needle getting caught or getting into the ground.

When the equipment breaks down during the drilling process and the column becomes disconnected, you should leave everything in the soil and make a new drill with rods. Consequently, drilling an Abyssinian water well homemade equipment performed only if you are 100% sure of the availability of water.

Where is there water?

How to choose the right drilling site? The main indicator is the presence of vegetation. You need to know the list of moisture-loving plants and look for them in your area. These include:

  • Nettle.
  • Burdock.
  • Hop.
  • Cane.

The most optimal indicator of the presence of moisture is already existing natural springs and wells in neighboring areas. If they are nearby, you are more likely to find what you are looking for.

Drilling depth

How to make an Abyssinian well and guess the depth of the first aquifer? This parameter is determined special device– aneroid barometer.

Changes with altitude Atmosphere pressure. The device works on this principle. Based on the pressure shown, you can determine the depth of the water. In most cases, the height of the water rise is rarely more than 7 meters.

Prohibited places

The construction of an Abyssinian well is prohibited in ravines, cliffs and steep slopes. This is due to the possibility of disruption of natural drainage, which can lead to landslides. In addition, it is prohibited to drill:

  1. at a distance closer than 15 meters from the place where pets are kept;
  2. within 300 meters of a cemetery or farm;
  3. at a distance of closer than 3.5 kilometers from chemical production, secret facilities and sewerage basins.

The properties of the soil are not disturbed when drilling an Abyssinian well.

Well made of other materials

In addition to the standard design, you can make an Abyssinian well with your own hands from plastic pipes. It is in no way inferior to the iron version, and in some respects even surpasses it.

The Abyssinian well made of plastic pipes has the following advantages:

  1. ease of installation (the whole process takes only a few hours);
  2. the possibility of installing a needle in the basement, garage or other utility room;
  3. high performance parameters;
  4. source of high quality water;
  5. long service life;
  6. economically beneficial.

Pump selection

In some cases, a pump may be necessary. So how to choose the right one? The pumps are lightweight and do not make unnecessary noise. One of the main selection conditions is the power that should provide required pressure. The price for them ranges from 4 to 15 thousand rubles. The pump for the Abyssinian well must be from a trusted manufacturer (sometimes called a pump).

Conclusion

Drinking water is the most important resource on the planet. In this article we looked at what an Abyssinian well is and what the technology for its construction is. It should be noted that in other countries such drilling is prohibited. DIY needle well is gaining popularity, which will lead to government regulation this question. Therefore, while it is allowed, it is better not to waste the moment.

Water supply for country house or suburban area– a problem whose solution is often expensive. A classic well cannot always provide required quality water, and drilling an artesian requires a special permit. Fortunately, there is one more technology left that can provide you with life-giving moisture. The Abyssinian well can be equipped without approvals and paying taxes - the law “On Subsoil” allows you to independently drill wells to the first aquifer.

The construction of an Abyssinian well is not difficult: the soil is drilled with a small diameter pipe (2-2.5 cm) until the first aquifer is reached (about 10 m). To speed up the process, the projectile is equipped with a pointed tip - the so-called needle.

Initially, water was pumped out using hand pumps; now special automated pumps are installed in Abyssinian wells.

Important! Is it possible to drink water from an Abyssinian well? The liquid in the well undergoes natural purification with sand and soil, so the likelihood of harmful impurities getting in is minimal. However, it is necessary to install bottom filters, protect the well mouth from debris, and be sure to check chemical composition water.

Advantages and disadvantages of Abyssinian

The construction of an Abyssinian well is cheaper than other methods of water extraction, but the advantages do not end there:

  • Drilling a mine will not take much time, and if available necessary tools you can do the work yourself.
  • The water level is located at a depth of 3-12 meters, the likelihood of runoff from the high water is extremely low.
  • The Abyssinian well can be hidden in the basement - according to the owners, this does not affect the stability of the foundation in any way.
  • With proper care and regular maintenance The service life of the mine can reach 30-50 years.
  • Most often, the water in the well is soft, it can be used for cooking and household needs without additional purification.
  • The well can be equipped with a manual pump (then you will not depend on power outages) or an automated one pumping station. Perfect optionparallel connection two devices.
  • Mine productivity is affected by the amount of liquid in the aquifer; data can exceed 40 liters per minute.

The Abyssinian well can be hidden in the basement or garage

The Abyssinian well also has disadvantages, but they do not play a decisive role. The mine often silts up, which can lead to reduced water quality and quantity. To avoid such situations, the pipes are additionally perforated and wrapped in fine mesh. Another problem is the selection suitable place for drilling - can be solved with the help of professional exploration.

How to make an Abyssinian well with your own hands

Moisture in the depths of the earth is retained by waterproof layers, the main component of which is clay. Between them lies a sandy layer filled with clean water. The sizes of this “filling” vary: in one place it can be very thin, in another it can take up several hundred square meters. The construction of an Abyssinian well begins with finding the optimal place for drilling.

The most effective way is to conduct “reconnaissance in force” by calling professionals. Specialists will drill a small well, lower a probe into it and examine the walls of the shaft. Analysis of the results will help determine the boundaries of the aquifer and find the optimal location for water intake.

Dowsing is one of the popular ways to find water.

If you are going to make an Abyssinian well with your own hands, you can use folk ways:

  • In the warm season, you can observe fog. White haze collects in places where aquifers lie. The denser the consistency, the closer the life-giving moisture.
  • Accurate indicator can be caused by the behavior of dogs. When the weather is hot, they begin to look for a cool place and dig holes exactly where the soil is the wettest.
  • Another “bell” could be flocks of midges hovering over one place.
  • If the area is not yet landscaped, study the flora growing on it. TO moisture-loving plants include nettle, coltsfoot and sorrel. In conditions high humidity Birch, alder and willow trees feel good, but cherry and apple trees begin to hurt and rot.
  • Ordinary people can become assistants in the search for water. household items. Arrange in the morning glass jars the same size, bottom up, throughout the entire area. After a day, carry out an inspection: the more condensation on the walls, the closer the layer of water.
  • One of ancient methods Dowsing is used to find water. To do this, you need to cut a vine branch with two forks and dry it. At the site, grasp the workpiece with both hands so that the barrel points upward. Walk slowly through the entire area: where the vine reaches towards the ground, there is an aquifer.

Important! Only exploration drilling can provide a 100% guarantee. Traditional methods signal the presence of water, only the layer may turn out to be perched water.

Dogs dig holes in areas with the most wet soil

Abyssinian wells cannot be drilled on slopes and hills, since disruption of the soil structure can lead to landslides. Be sure to check that there are no sources of contamination nearby. If there are landfills or hazardous industries near your site, the waste may end up in groundwater. Safe distance is 4 km.

List of tools

Of course, the easiest way to drill a well is with special equipment, but such mechanisms are expensive. You can make an Abyssinian well from plastic pipes with your own hands. To do this you will need the following tools and materials:

  • Bulgarian;
  • drill;
  • welding machine;
  • pancakes from the bar (for driving the pipe);
  • gas keys;
  • sledgehammer;
  • fifteen centimeter garden auger;
  • pipes;
  • filter;
  • couplings;
  • thin wire;
  • fine mesh;
  • check valve;
  • pumping station.

Pipe selection is a separate issue. The structure will be in constant contact with water, so it must be durable and resistant to corrosion. Experts use good old metal, galvanized or primed, or polymers. In any case, the needle tip should be metal, but polyethylene is suitable for pipes low pressure or thick-walled reinforced polypropylene.

The filter tip is made of durable material

You can buy a filter for an Abyssinian well or make it yourself. For production you will need metal pipe 1.1 m long. A pointed needle tip must be welded to one side, and perforations must be made on the walls. To do this, carefully cut 2-3 cm long slots with a grinder at a distance of one and a half to two centimeters. Wrap the resulting filter in fine mesh, secure the structure with clamps or solder it.

Work technology

How to make an Abyssinian well yourself? Follow the described technology:

  • To facilitate subsequent work, dig a hole with a diameter of about 100 mm and a depth of about half a meter (for wells year-round use– below the depth of soil freezing).
  • Place the filter tip in the center of the hole and begin drilling. You can hammer the pipe using pancakes from a barbell or a heavy sledgehammer. To make the task easier, you can use a garden auger; it is suitable for working at a depth of up to 5 meters.
  • While driving, compact the soil around the pipe and screw in additional sections. Drilling with water can simplify the construction of an Abyssinian well. To do this, you need to fill the mine with water and leave for an hour and a half. The soil will be saturated with moisture, and it will be easier to work.
  • Once you reach the sand layer, drilling will become much easier. Deepen the well so that the water level in the pipe rises to one meter.
  • The main part of the work is finished. All that remains is to install pumping equipment and concrete the site.

Important! Special attention pay attention to the tightness of the joints. Be sure to use flax hemp, FUM tape or Tangit-unilok thread.

Selection of a pump for an Abyssinian well

If you need to lift water to a height of more than 7 meters or transport liquid to engineering systems, it is better to automate the process. Which pump to choose for an Abyssinian well? In most cases it will cope with the volumes household station, providing a pressure of 20 liters per minute. As a rule, the kit includes the unit itself, a ballast and electrical cable. The supply hose and filter systems will have to be purchased separately.

The cost of a pump depends on its ability to pass solids various sizes without harm to the equipment. You should not overpay for this option: the diameter of the suspension components in the shaft is approximately twice the cross-section of the filter cells. For example, if 5 mm holes were drilled, a 10 mm solid pump will do. A more powerful one simply won’t justify itself.

Enough for an Abyssinian well household pump

After you have completed the work on arranging the Abyssinian well, installed a check valve and a pump, the well must be pumped. To do this, you need to connect the outlet hose and start the equipment. Wait until clean water appears - it can be used for watering or washing. It is recommended to use water for drinking and cooking only after testing for its chemical composition.
