So, we will study the assembly process using chairs as examples. First, we need to decide on the material for the frame, seat and back. When making chairs you can use oak, walnut, birch, apple and conifers, in principle, any fairly thick branches. So, having soberly assessed what we need to assemble a chair or other element, we assemble suitable material. Which branches to take - live ones with green leaves, or already quite dry ones - depends only on you and your experience. Next, the branches need to be processed and prepared for assembly. To do this, we first use a cartsovka for rough peeling, holding it in a drill. Don’t forget about safety and health precautions - wear a respirator and safety glasses. Processing should be carried out correctly along the fibers. When the main dirt and dust have been cleaned, we change the cartsovka to a fine one for more accurate processing. We repeat the procedure until we receive desired result, we evaluate the degree of processing ourselves.
In any case, we will not get an ideal surface when processing with carvings, and this is not particularly necessary, since final processing We will carry it out after assembly.
There is a slight subtlety when processing the ends. The main texture is formed with a coarse brush. Since the annual rings are located in a circle, you need to clean the ends in a circle, changing the direction of rotation of the drill. After all adjustments, processing and dry assembly have been successfully completed, we move on to the most interesting part - sealing cracks and decorating! We disassemble our product and inspect every component.

If the cracks are deep, can affect the strength of the connection, pass through tenons and sockets, or are simply not visually pleasing, fill them with epoxy resin in 2 stages. Divorce epoxy resin according to the instructions on the package and add dry dye so that the color of the composition is significantly darker than the color that we want to get from the product after decoration. We fill the cracks until the resin is liquid; it easily penetrates deep into the crack. As it dries, add more compound until the crack is filled flush again. When the resin has completely dried, we again take a drill and a fine brush and remove what has come out of the cracks. Grinding is carried out until the crack seems to be drowned.

When sanding is finished and you are satisfied with the results, we assemble the product back, using glue for joints. What glue to use is a personal choice, some use PUR 501.
After the glue has dried, remove the excess glue and move on to the most important, but at the same time enjoyable stage - decorating.

By temporarily fastening the legs, we achieve stability of the structure, adjust the parts and make marks in the right places, so that later we can finally fasten everything together. Assembly is carried out using self-tapping screws. For the wire, drill a hole 5-7 cm deep in the upper end of the tripod stand and make it perpendicular to it in the side of the driftwood. Thread the wire and install the threaded connector from the electrical kit for the floor lamp. Assemble the lamp and lampshade mount, connect the wiring, and screw in the lamp.
  2. The lampshade for the floor lamp can be taken from an old one table lamp or make it from any materials, as your imagination dictates. It can be made in the form of a nest or a ball from thin curved branches, driftwood of a suitable shape, etc.
  3. It is a little more difficult to make a chair and a table from driftwood. For them, you will need to find parts from which it will be possible to assemble a stable base or make furniture legs. The seat and table top are usually an even cut of the trunk (Fig. 3).

The tabletop can also be made of glass, which will allow you to see through it the interweaving of branches or roots of driftwood.

After the base for the table or chair has been assembled onto dowels, at the top of the structure it will be necessary to make a common cut for all parts in order to form a flat horizontal surface, solid or consisting of separate fragments, on which it will be possible to “plant” a seat or a seat using dowels and glue. table top.

The headboards of the bed are assembled from driftwood of any shape you like, they are connected with thin logs of the required length, forming a frame (Fig. 4). After all the holes are drilled and the tenons are milled, the structure is assembled dry (without glue), and if there is no need to file anything, you can begin gluing. PUR 501 adhesive from Kleiberit is suitable for these purposes. After the glue has dried, remove any excess. Finished goods needs to be sanded. For grinding, it is most convenient to use abrasive sponges, which perfectly process surfaces with complex profiles.

Andrey's hand-made furniture in the photo was tinted with a water-based stain applied with a brush, and the final finishing was done with teak oil, rubbed in with a swab. This oil is well absorbed, does not leave streaks and gives the product a soft, without excessive gloss look. The finish depends on your taste. You can make the furniture dark, antique with traces of patina, or you can cover it with colorless oil or varnish, preserving the natural color of the wood.
