Plastic rings on a metal cornice will make almost no noise, but after a while they may become deformed or break. Therefore, it is best to purchase a steel rod with metal rings coated with plastic.

Curtain selection

Installation of a curtain rod in the bathroom, designed for hanging waterproof curtains, is carried out on the walls directly above the bathtub. The cornice is attached at a height of about 1.5 m, so that the lower edge of the drawn curtain is 15-20 cm below the edge of the bathtub, and there is a ventilation gap of at least 10 cm wide between the bathroom ceiling and the curtain.

To correctly mark the position of the rod relative to the edge of the bathtub, the curtain rod must be laid on it and the attachment points must be marked in the center of the pipe. Using a plumb line or laser level it is necessary to reflect the resulting marks strictly vertically upward to the height of the cornice suspension (at least 1.5 m). These marks will determine the position of the center of the pipe when installing the rod.

Marking the position of the rod relative to the edge of the bathtub

The mounting holes for the brackets are marked by placing the end part of the bracket at the installation site according to preliminary markings. The fastening end element is installed in such a way that the screw fixing the cornice pipe in the bracket is positioned vertically. After carefully marking the mounting holes in the bathroom walls, drill blind holes for plastic inserts on both sides of the cornice.

In the event that the bathroom wall where the cornice is installed is lined tiles or porcelain stoneware, at the marking points for drilling the wall it is necessary to scratch small crosses using a glass cutter. This is required so that the drill with a pobedit tip does not slide along the surface of the wall and does not move during operation.

The drilling depth and drill diameter are determined by the length and diameter of the plastic inserts and are usually 45 and 8 mm, respectively. After drilling, plastic inserts - dowels - are driven into the holes and the cornice brackets are installed on the walls using self-tapping screws. A supporting pipe is inserted into the brackets and secured with special locking screws.

Please note that before installing the pipe in the brackets, it is first necessary to put on decorative caps with silicone O-rings, as well as, if necessary, one-piece decorative rings for attaching curtains to the cornice. After this, the supporting pipe of the cornice is inserted into the support brackets, secured in them with locking screws, and the brackets are masked with decorative caps using silicone seals. The cornice is ready for use.
