Self-made and efficiently operating VOCs (on-site wastewater treatment plants) cause increased interest from users of our portal. For example, when the groundwater level is low, it is often used.

An attempt to implement this scheme on poorly draining, heaving soils, with a high groundwater level, can end in failure. The rings can move during seasonal soil movement, and the tightness of the septic tank will be broken, and the drainage well (which is installed without a bottom) or filtration fields will constantly flood. Use of purchased plastic in a water-saturated “problem” area treatment plants It can also lead to the fact that when the soil heaves, the buried system is pushed out or compressed by the walls.

In this regard, an interesting scheme for implementing a surface septic tank from Eurocubes in a “swamp” user FORUMHOUSE with nickname Globi.

Globi FORUMHOUSE Member

On my site high level groundwater. You can't make a regular septic tank. Having looked at the ordeals of my neighbor (for the second season after winter, he is trying to “drown” the constantly emerging VOCs), I decided to make a surface treatment system based on 2 Eurocubes.

The system attracted close attention from users who faced a similar problem of high groundwater level. But, having decided to build this scheme, you should immediately think about where to divert the runoff after the septic tank. Often, the problem of additional purification and further disposal of “black” water in a wetland, with insufficient absorption capacity of the soil, turns into a real “headache”.

How I solved this problem Globi, We will tell you a little later, but now we will describe the design of a surface septic tank. To assemble it we will need:

  • Eurocubes – 2 pcs.
  • Material for constructing an extension to the house in which the septic tank is installed: boards - 10 pcs. cross-section 100x25 mm, sheets of flat slate 1 cm thick.
  • Material for insulating the box – polystyrene foam (foam plastic) – 10 sheets.
  • Corrugated sheeting for the roof of a “house” for a septic tank.
  • Melochovka – sewer pipes, special sealing collars for septic tanks, tees, hardware.

Globi

Eurocubes cost me 3,500 rubles per piece. (at 2012 prices). I paid another 4,100 rubles for the material for the “sarcophagus”. Pipes and bends cost 3,500 rubles. + all sorts of little things and Construction Materials in the form of hollow concrete blocks, cement, metal mesh for reinforcing the base for a septic tank. I spent about 17 thousand rubles on everything.

The design of the extension can be changed in accordance with the size of the septic tank and the availability of certain building materials.

The main thing is when installing a surface septic tank, remember that all connection points plumbing equipment– toilet, sinks, bathtub – should be higher than the entry point into the container.

It is necessary to maintain the required slope of the sewer pipes (2 cm per 1 linear meter, with a diameter of 110 mm). If the height of the first floor ceiling (from ground level to floor) does not allow the slope of the route to be maintained, then you will have to think about how to “throw” waste into the septic tank, for example, using a fecal pump.

The process of installing a septic tank is clearly visible in the following photographs.

We pour the base from concrete, and then we install the system, not forgetting to check it for leaks at the end of the assembly to make sure that after startup the septic tank will not “smell” when it is near the house. For this Globi used Automobile compressor, having previously plugged the outlet with a standard plug, and placed a plug with a fitting from the hydraulic accumulator at the input.

Globi

I pumped for a long time until one of the plugs flew out with a loud bang. The system is sealed, foreign unpleasant odor must not be. Next, I will mount the ventilation pipe and think about how to ventilate the box itself so that overheating in the summer does not kill bacteria in the septic tank.

Checking containers for leaks overpressure, the main thing is not to get carried away with the process, otherwise the plastic cube may break.

To build a system, you need to understand the principle of its operation. According to the user, he thoroughly scoured the Internet to learn about the basic nuances of the functioning of a septic tank. The basis of the entire system is correct overflow, from one Eurocube to another, and further discharge of the runoff into the drainage.

When waste enters the septic tank, it is separated. Some of the solid waste immediately goes to the bottom or settles after some time, passing through settling. Then the liquid is poured into the next container. In this case, the liquid must be taken into the next tank from the previous cube so that the overflow is one third below the surface level of the water in the tank. This will allow you to cut off solid inclusions floating on the surface.

Globi

I deviated from the classic overflow scheme. This allowed us to save on cleaning costs. In principle, they are not needed. Because The septic tank is not buried, you can disassemble everything and clean the pipes at any time.

For example, in this design, the entrance to the septic tank is cleaned directly from the house. For this it is worth inspection hatch. An overflow between the first and second containers is also available; just remove the wall (a sheet of slate screwed with screws) and disconnect the adapter to the ventilation pipe.

The exit from the septic tank is cleaned from the outside - plumbing cable through a tee.

You also need to ensure proper ventilation of the septic tank. For this purpose (it is taken out as high as possible, for example, to the ridge) there is also a supply pipe that ensures the flow of air into the system. Such a pipe is usually placed at the end of the filtration/aeration field, on the drainage pipe.

Fan pipe provides communication sewer system with the atmosphere, and also prevents the appearance of an unpleasant odor in the house and the breakdown of water seals.

One of the main elements of the system is the drainage tunnel. The user made it from an old bathtub buried at a depth of 0.5 meters. He put it on concrete blocks(around the entire perimeter) to increase the volume of a homemade infiltrator - an inverted container without a bottom. The top of the bathtub is insulated with foam plastic and sprinkled with earth. The drainage is introduced through a hole in the bath.

An infiltrator is needed for post-treatment of wastewater.

Globi

Operation has shown that the drainage does not freeze.

Another question that worried many who decided to repeat this septic tank was whether it would freeze in winter.

Practice has shown that insulating the box with foam plastic 100 mm thick is sufficient for normal operation under negative temperatures. It should be taken into account that the wall of the house towards which the containers are facing is warm. When bacteria are active (fermentation process), heat is generated. Additionally (just in case), the user placed below, on the right side of the tank, electric heater power 0.5 kW. During operation, even at -18 °C, the septic tank did not freeze, but A heater is really only needed in severe frosts.

To increase the efficiency of the cleaning system, Globi introduces a purchased bioactivator into it - microorganisms, flushing them down the toilet once a month.

Another question is whether the volume of 2 eurocubes is enough or is it better to supply 3 pieces.

Globi

The volume of the septic tank depends on the number of people living in the house. In addition, Eurocubes come in different sizes. Mine are 700 liters each. Effective volume – 550 liters each. Total - 1100 l. This, of course, falls slightly short of the recommended standards for 2 people, especially if there is a volley discharge, but in my house there are 2 bathrooms - with a composting toilet and a dry closet, and a shower with its own drainage. If necessary, over time it will be possible to supply 2 more Eurocubes. It's easy because... you won't have to dig anything.

Wastewater from a private house without access to central sewer can not only be collected in a cesspool, but also disposed of using septic tanks.

These devices are available ready-made different sizes and forms.

But you can make them yourself, for example, by taking already used containers - Eurocubes.

Eurocubes are cubic containers made of plastic and placed in a frame in the form of a metal mesh made of galvanized steel. The most common volume of such containers is 1 m3.

The primary purpose of these tanks is to transport various liquids, including technical purposes: sodium hypochlorite, acids, alkalis, water, etc. In addition, such plastic containers are used again for various purposes, for example, for constructing septic tanks. It's connected with positive properties ecrocubes.

Advantages and disadvantages

Cubic plastic tanks – great option for arrangement local sewer thanks to a number of characteristics:

  • light weight, which promotes easy installation without the use of special equipment;
  • low price;
  • the possibility of using used products, which further reduces the cost of the finished structure;
  • resistance of the walls of the Eurocube to the effects of aggressive environments, which is especially important when arranging sewage systems;
  • speed of preparation of the tank for installation;
  • the presence of a metal frame, which reduces soil pressure and is durable, as it is made of galvanized steel;
  • the tightness of the container;
  • ease of operation and maintenance.

But when choosing such tanks for constructing a septic tank, it is necessary to take into account their disadvantages.

  1. Due to the lightness of plastic, the container can float under the influence of groundwater. To avoid this, you need to prepare a concrete base to which to attach the Eurocube.
  2. The metal frame does not always cope with soil pressure, which ultimately leads to deformation of the container. The prevention of this is to fill the space between the containers and the walls of the pit with concrete.

Otherwise the septic tank is simple device and the principle of operation copes with its task quite effectively.

How does a septic tank made from Eurocubes work and work?

To set up a wastewater treatment system, 2 containers are used, connected to each other by an overflow system.

The processes taking place in the tanks themselves do not provide absolute cleaning. Therefore, it is necessary to equip soil filtration, after passing through which the wastewater becomes safe for environment. This is one of the nuances of arranging such wastewater treatment plants.

What should you consider during installation?

How to conduct preparatory activities, and when installing such a cleaning device itself, it is necessary to follow several general and specific rules.

  1. Any local wastewater disposal station must be located on site in accordance with regulations. The distance from the house to the septic tank must be at least 5 m, from drinking underground sources - 50 m, from surface waters– 30 m, from trees and bushes – 3 m.
  2. In addition to sanitary standards, it is also necessary to take into account the possibility of a sewage truck approaching the station to pump out the resulting sludge.
  3. During construction cesspool It is necessary to take care of the installation of the ventilation riser.
  4. It is better to install containers on a concrete base, which has metal eyes for securing the containers with cables. This will save the septic tank from floating.
  5. When preparing a pit and trenches for pipes, the freezing point of the soil must be taken into account. Pipelines and their inlets must pass below this mark.
  6. It is recommended to additionally insulate the containers.
  7. When choosing tanks, you need to take into account that the tanks should not be as full as possible, otherwise cracks may appear in the walls under pressure.

In connection with the last factor, it is important to correctly calculate the volume of the septic tank.

Calculation of the volume of tanks for a cesspool

Eurocubes are standardly produced in a volume of 1000 liters, but there are containers of 800 and 1200 liters.

To decide which tanks are right for you, you need to make standard calculations.

  1. The required daily capacity can be determined by multiplying 200 liters by the number of residents.
  2. To calculate the required volume of chambers, the resulting productivity value must be multiplied by 3, because on average the wastewater is in the septic tank for three days.
  3. It is recommended to increase the volume by 10-20% to take into account the possible arrival of guests.

This is what calculations of the size of a septic tank look like for a house that does not have sanitary equipment that produces large volumes of wastewater: bathtubs, dishwashers, etc. washing machine. But in practice, for a family of three people, two tanks of 0.8 m3 each are usually sufficient.

After making the calculations, you can begin purchasing materials and equipment.

What will you need to install a sewer system?

In addition to Eurocubes, to install the system you need to buy other material, as well as prepare tools.

  1. Plastic sewer pipes with a diameter of 100-110 mm for supplying wastewater to the septic tank and connecting the treatment stages, as well as the ventilation riser.
  2. Fittings for plastic pipes.
  3. Cement, sand, gravel for preparing concrete.
  4. Sand for filling the bottom of trenches
  5. Tools for cutting pipes.
  6. Sealant for processing joints.
  7. Insulation for wells, and, if necessary, for pipes.
  8. Fittings for connecting cubes.
  9. Waterproofing.

You will also need materials for soil treatment equipment. The set will depend on which filtration stage option you choose.

How to make a septic tank from Eurocubes with your own hands: step-by-step installation instructions

Having chosen a place to install a septic tank and purchased materials and tools, you can begin the installation process.

Excavation

First you need to prepare trenches for pipes and a pit for Eurocubes. The pit should be approximately 30-40 cm larger in width and length than the dimensions of the tanks. When deepening, it is necessary to take into account the concrete base and insulation layer, as well as the zero temperature point.

After digging the pit, the bottom is leveled and filled with concrete. The concrete layer must also be smooth. At the same stage you need to install metal hinges for fastening containers.

When digging and preparing trenches, you also need to take into account that the pipes will run deeper than zero soil temperature and run at a slope of 2-3 cm per linear meter. At the bottom of the ditches, before laying the pipeline, a sand cushion is poured while maintaining the slope.

While the concrete base is drying, you can start preparing the Eurocubes for installation.

Modification of tanks

Before installation, the tanks are connected together using reinforcement welded to metal frames. But first they prepare the cubes differently.

  • Additionally, the factory drain holes of the tanks are covered with sealant.
  • Holes for inlet and outlet pipes are made in the side walls of each container, maintaining a slope. This means that each subsequent hole along the drainage path must be lower than the previous one. Here you need to take into account that the second container will be installed 0.2 m deeper than the first, which will allow for better use of its volume.
  • A tee must be placed in each tank. If the fitting does not fit into the factory neck of the cube, then it must be temporarily enlarged. As a result, an inlet pipe will need to be connected to one hole of the tee. From the opposite opening of the fitting, the drains will drain into the compartment, and the third should be directed to the upper edge of the container to connect to the ventilation riser.
  • The pipes are connected to the tee and to the Eurocubes, and a pipe is installed for the outlet pipe going to the soil treatment.
  • Treat the joints with sealant.
  • The upper hole, which was used to insert the tee, is restored and sealed with sealant.

Now you can strengthen the connection of the tanks to each other using reinforcement. The containers are ready for installation.

Direct installation

After graduation preparatory work begin installing tanks and laying pipes.

  1. The septic tank is carefully lowered to the bottom of the pit.
  2. Attach the tanks to concrete base using slings.
  3. Place pipes in trenches, checking the slope.
  4. Connect the pipelines to the septic tank, install ventilation riser.
  5. Cover the containers on all sides with insulation, for example, sheets of polystyrene foam.
  6. Fill the compartments with water.
  7. Gradually and carefully fill the space between the septic tank and the walls of the pit with concrete.
  8. The pipes and septic tank are covered from above.

It will also be necessary to equip a soil filtration stage at the installation stage, and add biological products to the septic tank. The wastewater disposal system is ready for operation.

Video on how to make a septic tank from Eurocubes:

Tank Maintenance

The wastewater treatment station does not require frequent calls to the sewer truck, but once a year it is necessary to pump out sediment from the tanks, the level of which can be checked using a wooden stick.

It is also necessary to periodically add microorganism preparations. Especially if there is a smell around the septic tank.

Otherwise, this inexpensive design does not require any care.

The cost of a septic tank from eurocubes

Cheapness is the main trump card of a wastewater recycling system made from Eurocubes. Used container in good condition costs about 4-5 thousand rubles. To the total amount you must also add delivery, which depends on the distance of your site from the city and the supplier, as well as the price for sand, cement, sealant, gravel and plastic pipes.

To dig a pit, you can hire equipment, which will increase the installation price, but will save money.

As a result, you will get a good and inexpensive device for waste disposal, which is especially suitable for small country houses.

One of the simplest and most economical available options treatment facility for a home or cottage - a septic tank made of Eurocubes. In combination with good drainage it will effectively clean drains and long years work smoothly. Let's look at how to make a septic tank with your own hands from Eurocubes, in detail with calculations and step-by-step instructions.

Those who are faced with the problem of choosing a treatment facility often have a question: is it worth spending money on a septic tank when you can get by with a regular cesspool. It is possible, but it may not withstand large volumes of water from all sanitary facilities, and the aromas hovering around it are not always acceptable in a private area, especially in a small one. In addition, unrefined domestic waste may pollute The groundwater, then you can smell them or even have a slight taste at the nearest well, and this will not please the sanitary and epidemiological station workers.

With a septic tank, these problems can be avoided, but since the cost of industrial structures is quite high, homeowners have to look for an alternative. And the most acceptable option in terms of cost and ease of installation was a septic tank made from a Eurocube.

Construction and

A septic tank made from Eurocubes is a single sealed system, which consists of one or more containers. The sewage system is connected to the first tank, and the wastewater enters the tank, where it is roughly cleaned.

The operating principle of a septic tank made from Eurocubes

The sewage settles and is divided into several fractions with different specific gravity, namely, sediment, gases and clarified water, which is located in the middle layers. Also, water purification is facilitated by microorganisms that feed on organic waste. To keep them in required quantity special mixtures of bacteria for septic tanks and cesspools are added to the container. Through an overflow pipe, water from the first container passes into the second, where it also settles and fermentes.

The wastewater clarified in the second tank is approximately 60% cleared of impurities. Next, the water goes into the drainage system, where it undergoes soil purification. As a result of fermentation in the first and second chambers, a certain amount of methane is released, carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide, they are removed through the ventilation pipe. The liquid is pumped out using a sewer truck through a cleaning pipe.

The main element of the treatment plant is the Eurocube

Eurocube is a plastic container made of polyethylene high density, the thickness of its wall varies between 1.5-2 mm. In the upper part of the cube there is a filler neck with a diameter of 150 mm, a polyethylene cap is installed on it, it can additionally be equipped with ventilation valve. There is a drain valve at the bottom of the container.

The operating principle of a septic tank made from Eurocubes

Each Eurocube is enclosed in metal sheathing and mounted on a wooden, steel or plastic pallet. Like many other plastic containers, Eurocubes have their own standard sizes, so the question: which one to buy rarely arises. A container with a volume of 1000 liters is considered standard, its length is 1.2 m, width – 1 m, height 1.16 m, weight about 50 kg. The Eurocube is a practically ready-made tank and requires only minimal installation work, which is why sewage systems with a septic tank made of polyethylene tanks are becoming increasingly popular.

Norms and rules for the location of a septic tank on the site

The basic requirements for installing a septic tank are documented in the construction, sanitary standards and rules, these are the main documents defining the design of a treatment plant, taking into account adjacent buildings and the characteristics of the territory. Before installing treatment facilities in a private house or country house, it is necessary to prepare and approve the project in the appropriate organization.

When building a septic tank, it is important to pay attention to some features of its installation in certain conditions.

Norms and rules for the location of the septic tank

  • The installation depth of the septic tank, regardless of its design, should not be less than the freezing limit of the soil; if the requirement is not feasible, the septic tank must be insulated.
  • The soil must have high permeability; sandy and sandy soils are considered optimal.
    gravel soils. In case of clay soil Construction of cesspools and installation of a pump will be required.
  • If there is not enough territory on a private plot
    for ground filtration, the construction of an aeration well will be required.
  • When placing a septic tank on the site, it is worth considering that, like cesspools, it will require pumping and you need to take care of the possibility
    equipment entrance.

Calculation of septic tank capacity

In order for the sewage system to be functional, and the installation of a new septic tank in a private house not to be in vain, you should calculate in advance the expected volume of wastewater, and, accordingly, the volume and number of containers.

According to SNiP 2.04.03-85 “Sewerage. External networks and structures” per person, the volume of water consumed is about 150-200 liters per day.

The standard rate of water consumption per person per day is 200 liters, even if in fact it is less, they take this number into account and multiply it by the number of people living in the house. The resulting figure is multiplied by 3. 3 days is the standard time during which the water in the septic tank is purified and partially drained. Now, to determine the volume of the tank in m3, the resulting amount is divided by 1000. Thus, for a family of 3 people, the volume of the septic tank should be 1.8-2 m3, that is, you will need 2 eurocubes. If there are guests in the house, it is recommended to total capacity add 200 liters.

Stages of installation of a septic tank from Eurocubes

Sewerage with a septic tank made from Eurocubes differs from other treatment facilities in that additional equipment will be required

Drainage and drainage system

s, but with correct installation such a design will be a reliable and durable solution in a private home or country house.

Before you start installation work, think over the design and location of the septic tank on the site, decide which one is best to install so that the sewage system in a private house is functional and coordinate the plan with the SES.

Preparing a pit for a septic tank.

The length and width of the pit should correspond to the size of the septic tank assembly with a small margin of 15-20 cm around the entire perimeter. Thermal insulation and durable material, protecting the septic tank from compression.

The required depth is determined taking into account the size of the Eurocube and the slope of the common pipeline. Height is also taken into account concrete base under the septic tank and the fact that each subsequent container is installed 20-30 cm lower than the previous one, respectively, the bottom is screeded with a step, and fastening loops for the Eurocube are installed in the fresh solution.

Excavation and concreting of the base for a septic tank

Anchoring will protect the structure from displacement in the event of a groundwater breakthrough.

An important point: to prevent the septic tank from being squeezed out by groundwater in the spring, it must be secured to the concrete base with belts.

The next step earthworks There will be digging of cesspool trenches for a filtration field or well. The work may vary depending on the selected method of soil purification.

Septic tank drainage system

Soil purification can be organized in several ways.

  • Filtration wells are a simple and inexpensive structure; they are a well, the bottom of which is made in the form of a filtration pad made of sand and gravel. But it is prohibited to install it on many types of soil: sandy loam, sand, cracked soil and loam. The productivity of the wells is small, and the installation must be coordinated with the sanitary and epidemiological service.
  • Fields of underground or above-ground filtration represent a kind of irrigation system through which processed septic tanks pass wastewater and fall into the soil. Set up a system of ceramic or plastic perforated pipes laid on the filtrate. At the end of each channel, a ventilation riser is installed to a height of up to 0.5 m.

Filtration systems for septic tanks

  • Filtration trenches are pits up to 1 meter deep, into which pipes more than 30 meters long are laid, through which water flows by gravity into the existing network or storm sewer.

Assembly and installation of a septic tank

The septic tank is assembled according to a pre-developed scheme, adhering to the basic rule - all connections must be absolutely sealed, which sealant is best to use, consensus builders don't.

Assembly begins by preparing the first container. From the top edge of the Eurocube, step 20 cm down and make a hole for the pipe that will connect treatment plant With external system sewerage. On the opposite side of the cube, at a distance of 30 cm from the top, a second hole is made for overflow, through which the waste will flow into the second container.

Several holes are also made on the second Eurocube. The first is cut out for the overflow pipe, which will connect the container to the first tank. The height of the cut is calculated taking into account that the second tank will be located 20 cm below the first. On its opposite side, 15-20 cm below, a hole is made for the second overflow pipe; it will drain pre-purified wastewater to the filtration field.

On top of each tank it is necessary to arrange a hole for cleaning and ventilation duct. As a rule, only one hole is made at the top, and a pipe is fixed in it for cleaning, and the ventilation riser is brought out using a ready-made hole in the filler neck. The pipe is selected of the appropriate diameter and raised to a height of up to 2 meters. Be sure to take into account the fact that the ventilation pipe should not be lowered into the container below the overflow pipe.

Assembly and installation of a septic tank from Eurocubes

Advice! If the ventilation riser is made collapsible, then liquid can be pumped out of the septic tank through it in the future and no additional hole or pipe outlet will be required for cleaning

Septic tanks are connected to each other steel elements at a distance of 15-20 cm. The structure can be insulated with mineral, basalt wool or polystyrene foam, do not forget about insulating pipes that are located above the freezing level of the soil.

Do-it-yourself septic tank from Eurocubes - step-by-step technology installation

In country estates you can relax from the bustle of the city, enjoying the privacy and beauty of green plantings. But in front of everyone positive aspects, proper rest is impossible without the proper level of comfort and amenities to which we are accustomed. The sewage system is very important, because without it no work is possible. hygiene procedures. This is especially true for families with small children who constantly need to take a bath, wash their hands and do other activities. However, purchase from famous manufacturer not always feasible from a financial point of view. An excellent replacement for industrial treatment plants is a do-it-yourself septic tank made from Eurocubes.

Eurocubes are sealed containers made of plastic (polyethylene) with wooden/metal/plastic pallets designed for storing and transporting liquids. The outer casing is placed in metal carcass, protecting the Eurocube from deformation. Capacity volume - 1000 liters. Weight - no more than 67 kilograms. This design is not only ideal for a septic tank and has an affordable price, but is also so easy to install that even one person can install a septic tank in a maximum of 2-3 days without anyone’s help.

Since a septic tank is a treatment facility consisting of several consecutive chambers, two identical eurocubes are purchased to construct a septic tank. They are equipped with air ducts (ventilation pipes), inlet and outlet pipes through which liquid will enter and leave the septic tank, as well as a pipe for overflowing clarified waste from the first container to the second. The outlet pipe is equipped with a reverse pipe to prevent the reverse movement of the purified liquid into the septic tank cavity.

In order to effectively use the entire working volume of the second Eurocube, the two containers are rigidly fastened together, moving them vertically by 20-25 cm.

All joints plastic walls and pipes are additionally insulated with sealant, and the structure is insulated with foam plastic or a material with similar properties.

Advantages of a septic tank made from Eurocubes

  1. As already mentioned, such a septic tank is cheap, but at the same time effective. Treated wastewater can be reused, subject to additional treatment.
  2. Thanks to the insulation it is possible year-round use treatment plant.
  3. There are no unpleasant odors during operation.
  4. Cleaning a septic tank can be done with a pump or a vacuum cleaner, and this procedure is quite rare.
  5. The structure is sealed, reliable, durable, does not corrode or collapse under the influence of chemical, climatic and other unfavorable factors.
  6. Installation does not require the construction of massive floors or the use of special equipment.
  7. Installation is possible in any type of soil, regardless of the height of the groundwater (these factors only affect the method of draining purified water from the septic tank).

For the manufacture of homemade septic tanks use various materials. One of the best in many respects is Eurocubes. These are sealed plastic containers designed for transporting or storing liquids. Buying them is not a problem; used ones are also sold, which, after a little modification, do an excellent job of cleaning drains.

For manufacturing you do not need to be a specialist, have professional tools. Every man can make a septic tank from Eurocubes. Any options are available: from two, three containers, with or without pumping. After reading the article, you will be confident that such a system is reliable, inexpensive, and easy to maintain.

It was no coincidence that those who wanted to build a septic tank on their own paid attention to Eurocubes: very convenient for installation rectangular shape, good capacity. The small thickness of the walls is compensated by steel sheathing that can withstand loads. A used technical Eurocube can be purchased for 3.5 thousand rubles (this is in Moscow), in other regions it is even less or several times more expensive

In many respects, Eurocubes are ahead of other materials that are traditionally used for homemade septic tanks:

The advantages of Eurocubes also concern operational properties and ease of installation:

Products Difficulty of installation Possibility of installation at high groundwater level The need for protection from aggressive environments and sealing
Eurocube Deformed in the absence of a frame Can be installed by one person Install Not required, seal the pipe entry points
Plastic barrel Frozen soil can squeeze out of the ground Manually Maybe Not necessary, seal joints with pipes
Metal barrel Quite stable, but minor deformation is possible due to excessive loads Without special equipment Acceptable Sealed, requires treatment with anti-corrosion substances inside and outside
Concrete rings Withstands ground pressure Requires winch or lifting equipment If deeper than 2 m Seams are sealed, treated with bitumen or other means on both sides

In front of everyone positive qualities Eurocubes have disadvantages when used as a septic tank. High groundwater can push the structure to the surface. To prevent this from happening, they do concrete foundation, the structure is attached to it.

Preparing to install a septic tank

Eurocubes are available in volumes of 640–1250 liters. You should calculate which tank is suitable for your family. It is not advisable to take a rate of 200 liters per day for calculation - often much less water is actually used. Complete filtration occurs in 3 days. The most common version of the Eurocube is 1000 liters. To prevent the liquid from overfilling the containers, install 2 or more reservoirs.

Scheme of a septic tank from Eurocubes

Choose an installation location, trying to ensure that the pipes are located without turns, otherwise the risk of clogging increases. First, they dig a trench under the pipeline, from which the waste flows into the receiving chamber. Depth below freezing point. Then they make a pit for the septic tank, adding about 20 cm to its dimensions on all sides. This is necessary for insulation and backfilling.

If there are no turns and the correct slope of the pipes is 2 cm per linear meter, a trench depth above the freezing point is allowed. Water and heavy fractions will not be retained, and the threat of freezing is eliminated. If it is necessary to make a turn, it is performed at an angle of 45°, but not 90°.

Eremtsov A.V., engineer at Septic-Stroy company

A trench is dug from the first reservoir to the second. The wastewater in such a septic tank is purified by a maximum of 60%, which is not enough to pump out without causing harm to the soil or reservoir where the discharge will be made. Additional purification of the liquid is required, which is carried out in one of the following ways:

  • arrange a filter well;
  • construct a drainage field;
  • make filter mounds.

When choosing an option, it is important to find a free site for the structure.

In the pit for the septic tank, an additional 0.2 m is provided for the device concrete platform. When pouring, metal hooks are installed. The Eurocube is then secured to them with straps and cables. This is necessary to prevent groundwater from squeezing out the tank.

Refinement of Eurocubes

To install the system you will need:

  • Eurocubes – 2 or 3 as desired;
  • tees - 3 or 5 depending on the number of tanks;
  • pipes for sewerage and ventilation;
  • sealant, polystyrene foam;
  • tools: welding machine and Bulgarian.

The conversion of Eurocubes for septic tanks is carried out in the following sequence:

  1. Unscrew the plug drain hole from the bottom of the container, apply sealant to the threads of the pipe and tighten it. This will prevent possible leakage.
  2. Make a hole in the first tank at a distance of 20 cm from the top for the input pipe. A hole is cut in the opposite wall for the outlet, which is 5–10 cm lower than the input one. A similar operation is done with the second container, placing each hole lower.
  3. The cubes are connected with a short pipe and tees are installed at the ends. So that they pass through the neck, they make an incision with a grinder and wrap the plastic.

Andrey from Yaroslavl region says that in the second European Cup he made holes at the same level as in the first. I installed the second tank 10 cm lower than the first - the useful volume in both tanks is the same.

The frames of the Eurocubes are tied together with steel rods, reinforcement, strip iron, and corners to give the structure greater strength.

The modification is completed by cutting out a hole for ventilation. They are made exactly opposite the tees to be used for cleaning if necessary.

Installation

The structure is lowered into the pit and anchored on reinforcement protruding from the concrete. The underwater and outlet pipes are inserted, a tee is mounted on the first, but it is not needed for the latter. Instead they install check valve so that groundwater and melt water do not enter the chamber.

The pipe entry points are sealed, and plumbing tape is additionally used. Waterproofing is installed on the upper part of the structure. Special attention pay attention to the slots made to install the tees. It is advisable to melt their edges along the cuts with a soldering iron and connect them or use suitable glue.

The sides and top are insulated with foam plastic, required thickness– 10 cm.

Fill the tanks with water so that they do not become deformed during subsequent work. The remaining space is filled with clay mixed with dry cement. Boards are laid on top and covered with earth. Instead, profiled sheets and flat slate work well.

Features of the device at high groundwater level

If the water comes close to the surface, the usual scheme Some changes are made during installation. First, determine the depth of the groundwater. To do this, drill a hole 2 m deep in the ground and leave it for a day. If the walls are dry, the water lies deeper.

Advice. When there is a well nearby, it is not necessary to drill a well. The water level in the well corresponds to the depth of groundwater.

If groundwater is located closer than two meters to the surface, it is required additional measures. The site must be concreted. In other cases, you can do without this - just compact the soil well, add sand, and drive pins into the soil for anchoring.

Concreting, when groundwater is very high, is also necessary on the sides of Eurocubes. The solution is poured in small portions, wait until the previous layer has set, and only then continue working. This is required so that the mass of the liquid solution does not push through the thin walls of the tank.

Important. Replace concrete with corrugated sheets, flat slate, even with boards it’s risky. They may not withstand the pressure, the thin plastic will crack.

At high groundwater level the device drainage well impossible. There are 2 options for solving the problem: forced pumping of liquid with a pump or drainage system on a hill. The first method is inconvenient: you need to constantly monitor the level, the liquid is poorly purified, and can only be discharged into a ditch, but not into a reservoir or for watering the area.

Drainage field

This perforated pipes with a diameter of 110–160 mm, communicating with each other, located in parallel. From them, water goes into the soil. The installation depth is above ground level.

Drainage field on the site: pipes above the groundwater level

They make an additional tank. You can use another Eurocube so as not to seal a structure made, for example, from concrete rings. It is installed drainage pump, are equipped with a float switch so that the unit operates in automatic mode.

A pipe with a diameter of 25 or 32 mm is laid underground at a shallow depth to the drainage field. To prevent liquid flow, a check valve is installed at the outlet.

Filtration cassette

This is a plastic or reinforced concrete container without a bottom, which is also called an infiltrator. Installed on the surface, the wastewater, after treatment, goes into the soil without polluting nearby groundwater. One medium-sized cassette replaces 0.8 tons of crushed stone or more than 30 m of perforated pipe.

Fertile soil is removed from an area that exceeds the dimensions of the cassette by 0.5 m on all sides. A pit is required to be no more than 0.5 m deep. A continuous reinforced concrete fence is made along its perimeter, equal in height to the trench. The bottom is covered with fine crushed stone, and a cassette is installed on top. Connect a hose or drain pipe.

Non-standard solution– used instead of a purchased cassette old bath. Under it is crushed stone 40–70 mm in a layer of 20 cm.

Covered with earth. The design looks beautiful alpine slide. In this design, the liquid will not freeze.

Answers to frequently asked questions

Question No. 1. How to pump out from a septic tank - through a ventilation pipe?

Yes, because the manhole cover is underground and accessing it is a hassle. They just take into account that the diameter of the hose of a sewage disposal machine is 110 mm, so the ventilation is made of 160 mm pipes. You can install the same pipe on the hatch (its diameter is 150 mm), but ventilation is still necessary.

Question No. 2. Fixing the pipes with sealant seems somehow unreliable, is there another way?

Stores sell special cuffs for sewer pipes; in this case, sealant is used for sealing.
