Alkyd enamels are quite wear-resistant and are available in a variety of colors– from the traditional white color for heating radiators to red and black paint. But, despite all the above advantages, such compositions, which include white spirit, emit an unpleasant, pungent odor, which not only persists for the first few days after painting, but can also appear for some time when the radiators are significantly heated.

The period of painting work with alkyd enamels can last several days due to the rather long waiting time for each layer to completely dry. There is an aerosol form of alkyd enamels, which is a coloring spray in cans.

Acrylic enamels have found wide application in the field of painting elements of heating systems. A dried layer of this paint gives the surface a perfectly smooth and even appearance, a bit like plastic in appearance. A significant advantage of acrylic paints is their almost complete absence of odor during painting and during operation of heating systems.

When purchasing acrylic dye, you should pay attention to the manufacturer of the composition and its purpose indicated on the packaging. There you should also study the temperature at which the paint is able to function effectively, since not all types of acrylic paint composites can withstand even +80 ºС and higher temperatures.

Acrylic paints are characterized by their ability to dry quickly. The setting and complete drying time of such dyes, indicated in the instructions for their use, can take from 10 minutes to 1.5 hours for the first stage and about 5 hours until the final readiness of one applied layer. To obtain a high-quality coating, it is necessary to protect freshly painted radiators from exposure to moisture throughout the entire time the paint dries.

Preparatory activities
