Decorating balconies and loggias: interesting design ideas. Balconies Balcony lattice in Greek style

There are forged fences that copy the style of famous historical styles. These gratings are an easy excursion into time and space, a kind of memory of the past. We installed such a product in one of the houses in the Dubrovka cottage village along Kaluga Highway.

Three huge areas in front of the mansion were “shackled” with massive fences. The lattice canvas is a symbiosis of the Greek meander and the “crossed” pattern. The top, consisting of right angles forming a continuous line, symbolizes virtue. The right corners of the ornament, made of a 16x16mm square section and giving the line additional rigidity, are connected to horizontal rods by means of balls with a diameter of 20 mm.

These balls soften the hard lines of the square and give them a little lightness. The lower part of the canvas is a simplified “crossed” lattice, typical and popular in the 17th century. It consists of paired convex-concave rods with a cross-section of 16x8 mm, forming a continuous belt from the left to the right post. The connected rods form a series of diagonal lines and are connected to each other using round clamps with a diameter of 8 mm, twisted around the rods in 1.5 turns.

A huge number of small clamps adds a characteristic zest to the outline of the canvas. And the final element of the whole composition are pompous stands made of 80x80mm profile pipe and crowned with round balls. The sides of the racks are decorated with ornate leaves and a clamp strip.

For a long time, in small-sized apartments, balconies and loggias were not attractive in terms of beauty, and were used as storage rooms, where unnecessary things were stored and, in the “best case,” preserved food was stored, and a vegetable storehouse was set up. Today, the design of balconies and loggias turns even their modest sizes into a multifunctional additional room with well-arranged furniture or turns it into an oasis for relaxation.

And so, if you are interested in the design of the loggia, first of all you need to clear it and part with all the junk without pity. What you just don’t feel like throwing away is moving it to the dacha. Further, the flight of uncontrollable ideas and fantasies for arrangement can only be limited by the size of the usable area of the loggia and its shape. The freed-up area can be usefully equipped if you develop an interior design for the loggia; it all depends on the intended purpose and tastes of the owners.

Loggia design options

Here are just a few options for what you can turn a loggia into:

1. Set up a “winter garden”; a narrow loggia, as in the photo, is also suitable for this design. For such an interior solution, you need to install special shelves and flower holders and install additional lighting to increase daylight hours. Such an oasis will delight you at any time of the year.

2.Can be equipped as an office or creative workshop. To do this, you need to install compact necessary furniture and you can work or do what you love in silence.

3. As you can see in the photo, the loggia can be converted into a gym or a children's room. Buy the necessary sports equipment, install a trainer or horizontal bar, rings, a wall bars - and you or your child can work out and play.

Panoramic glazing in design

If the loggia is planned to be used not only in summer, then you need to worry about its glazing. The design of a loggia with panoramic glazing can be considered a good choice. Thanks to its magnificent appearance, excellent daylighting and new interior possibilities, the demand for panoramic glass is constantly increasing. They visually expand the space, bringing the room and the surrounding landscape closer together. Pay attention to the photo of the design of the loggia with panoramic glazing, and you will understand what we are talking about. Such a room looks completely different, it seems to have sparkled with new colors, breathed in new life.

DIY loggia design

An important step in arranging a loggia is the interior decoration of the walls, ceiling and floor, which you can do yourself. It is made using various materials. It can be wood, plastic or lining. The choice depends on your desire and financial capabilities. The most expensive, but most environmentally friendly material is wood; it will look solid and neat. PVC panels are a very popular and durable material. They come in different colors, patterns and textures. The panels are harmless to human health, retain heat and do not allow moisture to pass through. You can get by by gluing wallpaper, applying plaster or painting the walls. Cover the ceiling with clapboard, plastic, simply whitewash it or make it suspended. It is best to lay the floor from Euroboards - these are wooden plates made from different types of wood.

To illuminate the loggia, it is better to conduct hidden electrical wiring. The choice of lighting fixtures depends on the purpose of the loggia and your tastes.

The antique style is gaining popularity, and curtains with meanders (ancient patterns) are also called “Greek”.

The predominance of pastel colors with original ornaments makes them stand out for their elegant simplicity.

Therefore, practical minimalism should surround the curtains.

Differences in Greek style

There is no pomp here, curtains are rarely used. The material serves as sun protection, so the pattern is unobtrusive. The versatility and simplicity of Greek curtains have many advantages:

  • It's easy to sew it yourself.
  • They are simple and can be easily combined using draperies and combining different colors.
  • Well decorated with tassels and cords.
  • Dense natural fabrics are used.
  • These curtains protect against ultraviolet rays.
  • The main feature is symmetry.
  • Decorating rooms with minimalism, classics, etc.

Application

Blinds and shutters are often used in Greece to protect against hot heat. For curtains, linen, thick jute or bleached cotton are used.

For each room you should choose your own style and color of curtains.

Designers often use two opposite shades in their solutions to effectively decorate window openings in residential premises, as well as in large halls where holidays and events are held to add solemnity and luxury.

Bedroom

Any curtains must “breathe” and protect the room from the sun. Cotton and bleached linen are especially popular.

Many people use heavy curtains to enhance their protective functions. Double-sided curtains and curtains in the Greek style, where the sides have contrasting colors, look impressive.

Gold and black shades look very elegant in one curtain. The inside should be black, and when secured in the morning with beautiful pompoms, a golden window frame.

The black color will provide protection from the sun's rays, and the gold color will be for aesthetics. It is possible to deviate from the style and add light light curtains.

The colors of curtains (drapes) should harmonize well with the surrounding background and decoration of the room.

It is ideal to have bedding in Greek style.

Kitchen

Roman or roller blinds are suitable here, although the assembly of the beautiful folds is slightly modified. Roman curtains are assembled with cords up, and Greek curtains for the kitchen - on the side.

The rectangular canvas is fixed to the frame, as well as to the cornice. The strong cord makes it easy to untwist. Caring for the fabric is easy.

Curtains with ornaments are considered classics, pastel, sand or cream colors. Geometric patterns or floral motifs should not irritate the eyes. Lambrequins and other decor will fit perfectly into the Greek style.

Hall (living room)

The material for the rest room is wool, thick cloth, etc. The Greek style dictates simple, clear lines. Deep, uniform folds are encouraged. You can insert plastic clips to add depth and volume. Let's figure out how to make a Greek curtain.

To emphasize chic, you can alternate swags and frills. The jumpers are beautiful, decorated with ruffles at the edges. It is better to make such a lambrequin from a translucent material for greater effectiveness. It is better to secure it to the cornice with hairpins.

Another design method is bamboo blinds or matting.

Roman-Greek curtains - when assembled, you get cascading pleats, but when closed they are very similar to roller blinds.

The combination of black and white stripes will create an association with an antique colonnade and will visually add height to the room.

Types of Greek curtains

Classics can combine different styles and include fashion trends. The Greek style can be used in uniform vertical folds with soft flowing lambrequins.

Roller blinds are suitable for high density and can be draped. Blackout lets in slightly diffused light.

Curtains-drapes are made of heavy fabrics, they are well secured at the top and bottom, and in the center they are decorated with different tiebacks (quilted, complex, etc.).

Roman-Greek curtains are similar to the previous ones; these are rectangular curtains made of a single material (natural fabrics), which are fixed directly to the cornice.

Mandatory drawing of geometric shapes, assembled on the side with a cord. When they are folded, they can be decorated with various ribbons.

Blinds are made from bamboo or various types of wood. Hypoallergenic products are processed so that they do not fade in the sun. They are moisture resistant and durable, not demanding to care for.

  • "Togas" (Greece);
