The idea for the article was born quite simply, I wanted to order a branded cover for myself, I went to Amazon.com, and then it started... In general, I ended up purchasing three covers, which will be discussed in this article.
Before describing the covers, I’ll note that the Paperwhite 2012/2013 are completely identical in size (we’ll ignore the difference of a few grams, it doesn’t matter), so all the cases we’re considering today will be suitable for both generations of Kindle Paperwhite.
Personally, I am of the opinion that original accessories fit the devices best and are the most reliable. It was this assumption that was the argument in favor of purchasing the original cover.
Main material outside covers are made of genuine leather (at least, that’s what they say on the official website). From a practicality point of view, there are no complaints about it: it is convenient to hold the book in the case, and the case itself is easy to clean from any dirt.
Interior the cover is lined with microfiber (if we're talking about about the closing part), and the “bath” in which the book itself is installed is made of rubberized plastic. The book fits tightly in the case, there are no gaps.
The cover has a magnetic latch, thanks to which the cover does not open in the bag, and the additional function of the latch is to turn off the screen when it is closed and turn it on when it is opened. This is very convenient, you quickly get used to this functionality.
It is worth noting that the Kindle looks really cool in a branded case.
Seven available for sale various colors: pink, honey, dark blue, black, red-orange, purple and light brown. In my opinion, light green and blue colors would also be nice, but what is not there is not there.
You can purchase the cover on Amazon.com for $35 or from our resellers for 2,000 rubles. Considering the dollar exchange rate and the fees for intermediary services, I think it will be easier to purchase a case from us; saving 300-400 rubles is not worth the wait time.
The original cover from Amazon has two disadvantages - high price and a meager number of colors. But its analogue from Moko lacks both disadvantages, which is why I paid attention to their covers.

Externally, the case is very similar to its original counterpart, differing only in color. I had the light blue version on my hands, there are 12 colors available in total.
Unlike the original case, the version from Moko is made of polyurethane ( artificial leather). The advantage of this solution is the reduction in price and the ability to make almost any color of the case. The downside is that the case feels cheaper in your hands, and this material also seemed less wear-resistant to me.
The back of the cover has a white plastic rim, the rest of the back is covered with the same polyurethane.
The inside of the case is made of microfiber.
Like the original cover, Moko has the ability to turn the screen on/off when opening/closing the cover. There is also a magnetic latch. By the way, this case is harder to open than the original case from Amazon.
Of course, the main advantage of this case is the price. On the same Amazon.com it sells for $12-15. I haven’t seen such a cover in Russian online stores, but it seems that copies of the original accessory cost 1,000 rubles each.
During one of the flights I was faced with what to keep for a long time It’s not always convenient to hold a book in your hands, and before the next trip I decided to look for a cover-stand. I liked the model from Moko right away - inexpensive, with a magnetic latch, all connectors are open.
The main material used is polyurethane, most of the cover is made of it. And although the name of the material is the same as the previous case, it is tactilely different from the previous model. To the touch, the cover is more reminiscent of a kind of smooth plastic than artificial leather.
The case format is a vertical flip. To open the cover, you need to flip the lid back. By the way, the lid has two magnetic latches, thanks to which the book turns on/off when the cover is opened/closed, and this also allows the lid not to dangle when closed.
When open, you can lock the cover in one of three positions with different tilt angles.
By the way, the stand format is universal; if desired, you can install something else on the book in the case if there are no other options.
The case itself is quite massive; it significantly increases the dimensions of the book, unlike the first two models. However, it also has more functions.
The case sells for $13 on Amazon.com. In my opinion, Moko Vertical Flip is suitable for those who often read on long trips (on a flight or on a train, where there is folding table), but for everyday reading on the subway it is not very convenient.

You can purchase models from Moko only on Amazon.com through intermediaries (Banderolka or Shipito); the original cover is also sold through our resellers.
