Later, doctors told me that with such poisoning I could easily die - there was practically no chance of survival. Irina.

Blind from birth regained his sight

Sasha's parents, Rimma and Igor, are familiar with kindergarten. The way of life in the Sorvin family has completely changed. Now people here keep fasts, go to church, and read prayers. They know that at the moment when there seems to be no hope left, God helps. You just need to sincerely believe and live according to his Holy Commandments.

Appearance of a deceased mother.

I studied at the university as a scholarship student. My mother had thirteen children. My father was not of this world - we lived poorly. After graduating from the university, I was driven, as they say, into a bad corner, to work off my studies and scholarship, in an area where typhus was raging.

At this time my mother became mortally ill. I received a telegram about this, but they didn’t let me go home. My older sister Tatyana, who was already a bride, was sitting at the bedside of her dying mother. The mother turned to her daughter with a request: “Bury me in my wedding dress, it is consecrated. As you correctly noted, God is great and strong. And he does many miracles. I admit that testimonies of people healed from AIDS or HIV infection do not come across every day. But, nevertheless, they meet, and I have met them!

I would like to note that this kind of healing MUST always be certified by doctors.

Often Christians are faced with the temptation to “feel” something, “experience the power,” etc., and then interpret the relief or reduction of pain as healing accomplished. Afterwards, guided by the joy of the experience, they refuse both drug treatment, and from real trust in God. They relax in contentment: “Everything is fine with me now!” And that’s when trouble knocks on the door... They neither received treatment nor hoped. Feelings failed!

Unfortunately, I have also encountered such “healings” more than once, so I always insist that if a person has a serious illness (AIDS, HIV, tuberculosis, cancer, diabetes, etc.), then IN NO EVENT should one be guided by feelings! ONLY doctors can definitively confirm that a person is truly healthy. And, of course, in this case it will be a miracle! Until this time, no course of treatment should be interrupted. Meetings with people who were REALLY healed from AIDS or HIV infection, I had, more than once. I won't say that often. I remember two cases.

I know one story of healing from AIDS (not HIV) from a woman from Central Asia who became involved first in the occult, then in Satanism, became a drug addict and contracted AIDS during that vicious period of life. Then at a Christian conference she accepted Jesus. She renounced all devilish things. The ministers prayed for her release. After a short time, she supernaturally received complete liberation from drug addiction. The doctors did not believe the data and sent her for additional examination to the Republican Center for the Treatment of Patients with AIDS and HIV Infection. But even there the doctors found nothing. It was a real miracle!

Many people have heard a different story, because... it was broadcast on live CNL from Odessa. The family testified how the Lord healed their child from HIV infection, and the doctors confirmed this.

I note that the healing did not take place during the broadcast, but before that, through the prayers and faith of the parents and the church. During the broadcast, they simply testified to God’s miracle.

So there is evidence of God's miracles not a little. But remember that the Christian faith is not based on testimonies and stories of miracles, but on the Word of God! The vomiting has stopped. After the examination, the doctors no longer confirmed this diagnosis for me. In December 2012, I went for examination to the city of Donetsk. But the doctors there didn’t believe that I had cancer at all. I had to prove this to them with the help of past test results, which I kept in documentary form and on biopsy slides. As you correctly noted, God is great and strong. And he does many miracles. I admit that testimonies of people healed from AIDS or HIV infection are not found every day. But, nevertheless, they meet, and I have met them!
I would like to note that this kind of healing MUST always be certified by doctors.

Often Christians are faced with the temptation to “feel” something, “experience the power,” etc., and then interpret the relief or reduction of pain as healing accomplished. Then, guided by the joy of the experience, they refuse both drug treatment and real trust in God. They relax in contentment: “Everything is fine with me now!” And that’s when trouble knocks on the door... They neither received treatment nor hoped. Feelings failed!

I have had meetings with people REALLY healed from AIDS or HIV infection more than once. I won't say that often. I remember two cases.

I know one story of healing from AIDS (not HIV) from a woman from Central Asia who became involved first in the occult, then in Satanism, became a drug addict and contracted AIDS during that vicious period of life. Then at a Christian conference she accepted Jesus. She renounced all devilish things. The ministers prayed for her release. After a short time, she supernaturally received complete freedom from drug addiction. December 1 is World AIDS Day. This Day was first observed on December 1, 1988, after a meeting of all health ministers called for social tolerance and increased exchange of information on HIV/AIDS.

In the temple Life-Giving Trinity in Khoroshevo in Moscow, prayer services are regularly held for the health of people living with a diagnosis of HIV/AIDS. Portal correspondent Olga Mikhailova attended one of these prayer services.

The temple is located in a surprisingly picturesque place: on a cliff above the Moscow River, where fancy bridges can be seen in the distance. Park for church fence looks like one of the favorite recreational places for the residents of the area - mothers with strollers are walking in the yard, older children are picking up the last one autumn foliage, old women talking on benches under the trees... Closer to two o'clock - the time of the prayer indicated in the announcement - among the crowd dispersed throughout the temple, people who came here with one common goal– pray for yourself and your loved ones infected with HIV. Most of the notes sent to the prayer service contain one or two names. The service begins, prayers for the sick alternate with those of repentance. The Gospel is read in Russian - so that everyone can understand it, because anyone can come to the prayer service, including those who have no experience of church life. In the hands of several people are memorial plaques with long lists for hundreds of names.

A solution is quickly found - Father Vladimir and Mother Margarita invite everyone gathered for tea at the parish house.

The atmosphere at the prayer service and at the table is striking in its warmth. The feeling that in every phrase of the prayer, in every sign of the cross, bow, the guys put all the intensity of their mental strength. And this is easy to understand - after all, no one knows how many more such general services and cups of tea in the circle of friends each of them was given.

The HIV-negative majority has a lot to learn from them - if we all knew how to treat everyone who comes to us with the same care as a precious vessel, we would spend every day as if in paradise. In every action there is a desire to give joy to your neighbors.

One participant takes out a whole package of body medallions with the image, brought from Bari, and gives one to each person present. And if someone asks, then two. Or three, so that there is enough for all friends and acquaintances.

First of all, those gathered discussed the conference “Interaction religious denominations Russia in the field of HIV/AIDS." Special attention young people turned to government programs assistance to HIV-infected and AIDS patients, operating in different countries. We were talking about a painful issue - does the state need HIV-infected people in at least one country, does it want to see them as full-fledged members of society, or is it simply trying to protect itself from them?

According to a number of meeting participants, the programs of a number of states are aimed solely at protecting themselves and separating themselves from those affected by HIV infection. “No one thinks about how to help a person get rid of, for example, drug addiction. They are even ready to give him a free drug, let him die, as long as he doesn’t interfere with the lives of others,” the guys who were at the conference said with regret.

“Thoughts about one’s own uselessness and rejection are the most serious problems that HIV-positive people have to solve,” Father Vladimir Shmaliy later told me in private.

But I had to be convinced of the correctness of his words even earlier, during my first acquaintance with the community of HIV-positive people. “How to live if there is no joy in anything? – asks one of the young people over tea. It is said in the Gospel: “In the world you will have tribulation.” And he himself answers his own question: “After all, there is no joy in anything in the world except in Him, in Christ. Isn’t it true?”

Another problem that PLHIV – “people living with HIV” – have to face every day is “stigmatization,” “social stigma.” They continue to be treated as outcasts and are denied employment or admission to university. Former friends disappear when they learn that a person is sick. In the Orthodox community, PLHIV are also blamed for their vicious lifestyle, which became the cause of the disease. “Ordinary life is much more acute for them than for other Christians,” is how Father Vladimir called this condition. He recalled that HIV infection is not always a consequence of a vicious lifestyle - drug addiction, homosexuality or promiscuity. You can become infected, for example, as a result of a blood transfusion.

No less important question– revision own life. “By suffering at this moment, are we thereby atone for our previous sins?” – another young man asks Father Vladimir. “Christ is our Redeemer,” the priest answers.

“It’s like,” jokes one of the participants. It seems to be true - people talk at the table about their “favorite” sins - for example, judgment or vanity - and ask the priest and others for advice.

A story about the miraculous healing of one of the regular parishioners of the temple evokes joy and keen interest: “How? And the antibodies are gone? What tests did she take? Can't be!"

Prayer services at the Trinity Church in Khoroshevo have been held monthly since 2001. There are about 1000 names in the general commemoration today, and many patients showed a serious improvement in their condition after church prayer was offered for them.

Themes of family are touched upon very carefully. For most of those gathered, family means parents, and relations with them are strained to the limit after the news of HIV. But the prospect of having their own children is not excluded. “From a medical point of view, HIV-infected people have the opportunity to conceive and give birth to healthy children. The doctors informed me about this. Our general church concept says that such marriages and the birth of children in them are possible,” says Father Vladimir.

After drinking tea, those who wish go to church for confession. Before this, the priest once again reminds us of the importance of church life, that the grace of God helps to overcome many fears, despair, and depression.

Once upon a time, each of these people received terrible news about infection - which crossed out many plans, cut short social connections, forcing us to live in completely different conditions. Today they eagerly listen to another message - the Good News of Christ, which gives hope. I can honestly admit that I haven’t met people for a long time, even Orthodox Christians, who were so interested in the Lord and their relationship with Him. Of course, someone will say that the reason for this is constant thoughts about, interest in the fate of the soul beyond the grave. But isn't it the same for all other HIV-negative people?

On the way out, I already catch myself thinking pharisaically: “Look, what a great fellow we, the Church, the Orthodox, are for comforting people suffering from a serious illness, organizing communication for them, giving them a real holiday!” But then I start thinking: why did these young, beautiful, educated, talented people have to become infected with HIV so that we, the church members, would remember them? Where were we all when they tried drugs, entered into casual relationships, had no support and purpose in life? Why didn’t they talk about Christ then? Or why weren't they heard?

During the tea party, someone started talking about the HIV prevention program. In response, there was a friendly tragic grin: “It’s too late for us!” May God grant us to get to these guys before it’s too late.
