Good afternoon, dear readers! Recently an unpleasant incident occurred with my 3-year-old daughter. Just imagine, night. Complete silence. The house was asleep. And suddenly BANG. Silence again, but now frightening, because I realized what happened behind the wall. Then something inside me broke. These seconds of silence seemed like an eternity... But, suddenly, the long-awaited AAAAAAAAA!

My husband and I rushed into the nursery, she was lying wrapped in a blanket. Everything is fine! A little fright. Remembering this incident, I decided to answer the question of millions of parents: how to choose a bed for a 3-year-old child. And give some tips to avoid such incidents!

3. The material is preferably wood. Cedar is good in this regard! The furniture turns out to be strong and reliable. And, most importantly, safe.
4. Not only the material, but also the work must be of high quality. Check immediately for rough surfaces so that your child does not get a splinter. Avoid sharp corners.
5. If the area is small, don’t be afraid to overpay for additional parts. It is good that the model is equipped with drawers for linen and other things.
6. The size of the sleeping area is at least 160 by 80 cm - good for up to 5 years (and perhaps last until school).

1. First, I rolled up the blankets and stored things nearby. It helped for about a month. And then what changed? My daughter has grown up! And she began to need more reliable protection.
2. I placed a hard mattress next to it from a crib where we slept until we were 2 years old. She was propped up with chairs. Result: it rolled a couple of times. But not on the floor, the mattress simply fell back onto the chairs, and she rolled onto it. There is an interesting experience on this topic. Night, sleep. Suddenly there was a terrible roar and the same silence that I described at the beginning. We jumped up as if scalded, out of fright, we turned on the light right in her little room, in front of us was a picture: a child was lovingly sleeping... on the bed! You should have seen our faces! But what then made such a noise? Just an ironing board that was standing in a completely different room fell...
3. There are 2 huge pillows on the floor so as not to drag chairs, and small ones on top of them. Reliable, but only during the day, when sleep lasts less.
4. The best way: chairs with large pillows on them.
5. I read this option on the Internet, but haven’t tried it yet. File the legs of the bed that are closer to the wall. This way the child will end up not on a flat surface, but on a sloping one. Or put something solid on the legs that are located further from the wall. A more humane option, in my opinion. You can also put it under a mattress.
6. Stores also sell ready-made sideboards.

In general, create conditions so that the child is away from the edge. Then everything will work out! But sooner or later the baby will have to be weaned from sleeping with any protection. There is a “grandmother’s method” for this: remove all the chairs, and place a huge blanket or feather bed near the sleeping area. Are you afraid? You can also lie down next to her.
