You can make a plywood box for toys, spending a number of evenings on it, but the children's room will be clean, since there is a special storage place for all small toys.

You can make a plywood box for tools or children's toys with your own hands; to do this, you need to have a drawing with dimensions and a diagram for assembling the box on hand.

A durable and functional toy box will serve for a long time, benefiting children not only preschool age, but also school. For a teenager, such an item will become a special place in which his sports equipment will be stored.

Wood selection

To make a box with your own hands, they use not only solid wood, but also chipboard. Hardwood plywood can be successfully used for this purpose. Surface finished product varnish if necessary. It is important to use non-toxic paints and varnishes making a box out of plywood. If you make a special lid, the child will not pinch his hand.

The front wall of the product and its side surfaces can be decorated with various letters, animal figures made independently. To decorate the walls of the product, you can use a special stencil and paints. The appearance of the toy box should be tastefully designed so that the child can enjoy it for a long time.

For the easiest movement of the box, it is possible to install it on it bottom part special wheels. In any hardware supermarket, for example, you can buy swivel wheels, and when installing them you must strictly follow each point specified in the manufacturer’s instructions.

Making a box from plywood with your own hands is not difficult. At the same time, plywood is environmentally friendly pure material, which is constantly used in the manufacture of furniture. Thanks to this property, plywood products can be used in interiors where people are constantly present.

Anyone will love the durable and quality product, and plywood is just such a material.

Assembling the box will not involve too complicated procedures, since plywood is a material that is quite easy to work with. From plywood you can make a box not only for children's toys, but also for working tools.

Types of materials and tools

The piano hinge is screwed to the back of the box and then the lid is screwed on.

During the manufacturing process of the box you will need:

  1. Wood planks – 4 pcs.
  2. Plywood for the bottom of the box – 1 pc.
  3. Chipboard for the box lid – 1 pc.
  4. Side walls.
  5. Plywood for back and front walls – 2 pcs.
  6. Decorative overlays for the upper edges – 4 pcs.
  7. Decorative overlays for the base – 4 pcs.

Instead of plywood blanks, where necessary, you can use chipboard. The main thing is to observe the dimensions of the parts. Measurements of the front and rear walls should be 1.9 * 43.8 * 97.8 cm. The size of the side walls should be 1.9 * 43.8 * 45.7 cm. Decorative overlays measuring 1.9 should be used for the top edges and base *3.8*101.6 cm and 1.9*3.8*50.8 cm for every two types of drawer parts. The size of the planks will be 1.9 * 1.9 * 94.0 cm and 1.9 * 1.9 * 39.4 cm. The bottom and lid of the plywood box are provided with dimensions of 1.9 * 42.9 * 93.7 cm and 1.9*53.3*106.7 cm. The size of the protective corner pads should be 0.6*2.5*2.5*33.7 cm.

The following is required as fittings and fittings:

  1. Finishing nails – 38 mm.
  2. Finishing nails – 32 mm and 25 mm.
  3. Piano hinge (90 cm length) – 1 pc.
  4. Special holders – 2 pcs.
  5. Handles for the lid – 2 pcs.

Among necessary tools The following types can be distinguished:

  1. Roulette.
  2. Jigsaw.
  3. Screwdriver.
  4. Corner.

All these types of tools should be prepared before carpentry work. For example, without a corner it will not be possible to correctly mark the places of cutting, as well as assembling a plywood box with your own hands. An important point The other thing is that it is better not to use a hacksaw to make the cut, but only a jigsaw.

Wall assembly

The finished box can be decorated with bright vinyl stickers.

Assembling a plywood box can be done in stages. Before making a toy box, you need to learn all the following basic steps, including points on:

First, all the walls of the product must be cut to the appropriate sizes. Next, you should select the folds of the walls according to the figure. When assembling the product, they are coated with special glue and attach them to side walls, strengthening each connection with 38 mm nails.

Using corner clamps, fixed in the upper corners, which are located diagonally, and similarly in the other two corners, but only in the lower ones, which occupy another diagonal on the opposite side, the product is given the shape of a rectangle.

When all the glue is completely dry, they begin to attach the decorative trim elements and corner trims. After this, the chamfers are selected using a milling machine that is equipped with a chamfer cutter. A wood cutting machine can also be used for this purpose. Make a box with decorative finishing it is possible if you use a chamfer measuring 13 mm, located along the edges of the workpieces. The dimensions of decorative elements are taken equal to 2.5 * 5.1 and 2.5 * 7.6 cm.

When making a box from plywood, it is necessary to manufacture and fasten the upper decorative overlays from blanks measuring 2.5 * 5.1 cm, and their ends on both sides are beveled at an angle of 45 degrees. Each trim needs to be reinforced with the chamfer down, using glue or liquid nails on the upper walls of the edges of the plywood box. You should also use 32 mm nails.

To make and strengthen the decorative overlays from the bottom, you should carefully cut them out using 2.5 * 7.6 cm blanks. The whole process is similar to the previous one. It is necessary to install the overlays in the same way, following the direction of fastening of the chamfer, which should be facing upwards.

When making protective corner pads, you should cut them in the amount of 4 pieces for the drawer and secure them on its corners using glue and 25 mm nails. In order to subsequently attach the slats, the box must be turned upside down; the front and rear slats are securely attached flush using glue and 32 mm finishing nails. The side slats are also attached in the same way, that is, flush to the side walls with the lower edges.

Before attaching the bottom of the box, it should be cut together with the slats (4 pieces), paying attention to the size indicated in the list and description of all materials used. Then the box is turned upside down and glue is applied from above to the edges of the slats. The bottom is laid on the slats from the inside of the box, and then the product is left until the glue is completely dry.

This article will describe in detail the manufacture of a box for equipment, spare parts, batteries and tools - the so-called flight box. But this box was made taking into account the fact that there is a car for trips to the field, and therefore it is quite large and heavy.

Materials:
- plywood (4mm)
- glazing beads
- wooden blocks 25x15 mm
- PVA glue
- varnish
- self-tapping screws
- carnations

Purchased parts:
- door knob
- loops
- hook locks
- legs

Tools:
- wood hacksaw
- jigsaw
- ruler
- square
- pencil
- sandpaper
- hammer
- iron
- brush

Since I have little experience in furniture design programs, I also made the box in such a program - PRO100. A file with the *.sto extension is a drawer project with all dimensions. But in general, a given box, depending on your equipment and tools, may have completely different sizes and a different number of internal drawers.

Step 1. Cutting out the drawer parts

First, we buy a sheet of plywood 4 mm thick. You can make it thicker, but then the box will be even heavier, which is not very desirable.
The transportation process (and the acquisition itself, of course, will be different for everyone, but for a box you need approximately this sheet of plywood - 1.5 x 1.5 meters).

Then we cut the sheet into necessary details and lightly sand the edges.

From a block (15x25 mm) we cut out four long and four short blocks, and from the window bead we cut off pieces of the same length for the corners of the box.

We cut it out internal partitions and make half-width cuts in the parts of the crosspiece with a jigsaw.

Step 2. Aligning the parts

This step is optional, since if you are lucky enough to purchase even plywood, you will not have to level it. Otherwise, this process will take a couple of extra days. In general, the Internet is full of information on how to straighten plywood, but I’ll tell you briefly.
So, to begin with, we pour over the cut pieces hot water(I filled the bathroom with water and threw all the parts there).
Then use a heated iron (preferably with steam) to smooth out the uneven parts. You can directly on the tiled floor.

Now we place the heated parts on flat surface, possible in several layers.

Cover the top with even planes of chipboard or tool boxes and press down with a weight. I used basins and water bottles.

Since I have a heated floor in the bathroom, the parts were smooth and almost dry after 24 hours. But it may take another day for the plywood to dry completely.

Step 3. Gluing the box

In the future, all parts will be additionally fastened with screws and nails, but first the parts must be glued with PVA glue.
On the sides of the box we draw lines along which the glazing beads will be glued. Then we glue the glazing beads (a distance from the edge of 4 mm, equal to the thickness of the plywood).

On the sides of the lid we similarly draw lines and glue glazing beads.

Leave them for half an hour for the glue to dry.

Then, along the pre-drawn lines, we glue the slats with a cross-section of 15x25 mm to the sides.

We do the same with the sides of the lid.

Then we place the parts under the press and leave until completely dry glue.
Once the glue has dried, you can glue the internal partitions to the sides of the box and strips of plywood to the bars.

Using a square and improvised objects, glue the end wall to the side wall.

Then we glue the second side and end walls, secure with nails and leave until completely dry.

We glue the bottom and additionally fix it with nails in the corners (in glazing beads) and self-tapping screws (in slats).

We glue the inner walls to the sides of the lid.

We glue the lid directly to the base.

And we glue narrow strips of plywood, thus forming a gap for the inner lid. The inner cover itself is made of one layer of plywood and glazing bead, behind which it will be pulled out.

Step 4. Sanding and varnishing

We place the lid on the box, press it down and sand all surfaces with sandpaper to even out the joints.

We cover the box with acrylic varnish in two layers.

The inner cover is in one layer.

Step 5. Screwing the hinges, locks, handle and legs

We make small recesses for the hinges and screw them to the lid with self-tapping screws.

Then we screw the lid to the box, close it and mark the places for the locks. We also fasten the locks with self-tapping screws.

We glue a strip of plywood to the inside of the lid to strengthen the place under the handle.

Mark and drill holes for the bolts.

Screw on the handle.

We screw plastic legs to the bottom of the box with self-tapping screws.

Step 6. Making internal drawers and partitions

We glue plywood partitions inside the box.

Home tools have amazing ability- getting lost at the most inopportune moment. If hammers and screwdrivers are used periodically, they are stored anywhere: mezzanines, cabinet shelves, balconies.

Therefore, when the wife asks to hang a shelf, remembering exactly where the drill and screws are located will be problematic. It is much more practical and efficient to store tools in a special box, which can be purchased ready-made or made with your own hands.

What to choose

Let us immediately note that the tool box can be different, and the shape and dimensions directly depend on what is supposed to be stored inside the case.

For hand tools. Usually this rectangular design with a handle where inner space divided into one large compartment and 2-3 smaller compartments. It is convenient to store hammers, screwdrivers, and fasteners here.

For power tools. Such cases are usually produced by the manufacturer of the instrument itself. Standard option: a portable box, where one cell is reserved for a power tool and exactly repeats its shape, the rest are intended for equipment: drills, batteries, etc.

Organizers. These are modular designs consisting of several drawers various forms and sizes. These options are suitable for professionals and home craftsmen; they are easy to store and transport, and help you quickly find any small item.

When the problem of storing a tool arises, the first thing that comes to mind is to purchase a ready-made tool box in a store. However, this is not the most the best option. The fact is that factory designs are aimed at the average buyer, so they may not be suitable for a specific model of an angle grinder or drill. In addition, the number of tools usually increases and the internal space becomes small.

To avoid these problems, you can make your own tool box with a little effort and creativity.

From boards

If there are few tools, they are used periodically and only for home use, there is no point in manufacturing a complex structure. It is enough to make an ordinary wooden box from boards so that screwdrivers, hammers and screws are simply in one place and not lying around the entire apartment.

Considering that we are talking about an elementary product, you can do without a preliminary drawing. The main thing is to decide on the size of the sides. For the material of manufacture it is better to choose edged board coniferous species: this is the most affordable option, which is easy to process.

Consists of homemade box from 5 parts:

  • 2 side walls;
  • 2 end walls;

The elements are cut out in accordance with the planned dimensions and processed sandpaper and fasten together with self-tapping screws. For greater reliability, the side parts can be fixed with metal corners.

This homemade wooden box is inconvenient to carry, but it will help you store your tools in one place and not have to look for them throughout the apartment. It can be placed in the trunk of a car, on a pantry shelf or in the garage. Sizes vary depending on what exactly is supposed to be stored inside.

From plywood

DIY plywood tool boxes are eye-catching interesting design. They are easy to use and emphasize the professionalism and qualifications of the home craftsman.

A convenient plywood box with a handle will consist of the following elements:

  • bottom – dimensions 450*200 mm, a shallow groove is cut in the middle for a transverse partition;
  • walls - cut out in the amount of 4 pieces. A groove is also cut in the middle of the end elements;
  • cross post - recommended height 400 mm, length adjusted to the width of the bottom, taking into account the sidewalls. Top corners the posts are cut down to create a trapezoidal shape.

The assembly is carried out according to this scheme. To begin with, the body elements are glued together, pressing tightly against each other. While the glue dries, a hole is cut out in the transverse post, which will serve as a handle; wooden dies can be glued to the upper part for ease of grip. Next, the stand is installed in pre-prepared grooves and fixed with glue.

After completing the work, you get a plywood tool box, convenient for carrying. However, you can make the design more functional. To do this, to transverse septum wooden dies are glued in advance drilled holes, where you can place screwdrivers, pliers, side cutters and other necessary for performing homework tools.

To prevent the box from drying out, it is coated with several layers of varnish. For greater reliability, if desired, the bottom is secured to the walls with corners.

Transformation into a stool

From plywood and wooden blocks you can make a portable box for storing tools, which, when turned upside down, will turn into a simple stool or stand for performing work at heights. This is being manufactured universal design according to this scheme.

The bars are cut according to the specified size. They will serve as legs and be located at an angle. To make the stool stable, the upper and lower ends are cut at an angle of 15 degrees.

Sheets of plywood are nailed to the legs, which will become the end walls. The recommended width is 360 mm, the height is selected in such a way as to completely hide the legs without protruding beyond their limits.

The side walls are cut out of plywood and occupy approximately half the width of the block. The edges of the rectangle are cut at an angle to exactly match the angle of the legs.

The cover is made rectangular and attached to the ends of the racks with self-tapping screws.

After the work is done, turn the resulting stool upside down, turning it into a deep box for storing tools. To make the structure convenient to carry, cut out wooden block, which in length will correspond to the distance between the walls. Round off sharp corners, screw the block with self-tapping screws and get a comfortable handle, which additionally serves as a stiffener.

Organizer box

It's more complex design, but it is ideal for storing large tools and additional small items: fastening elements, corners, nails and much more. At first glance, such boxes seem to be a complex mechanism, but in fact they can be made independently by spending a little free time.

The manufacturing process is conventionally divided into 3 stages:

  • We assemble the body. This is a deep plywood box with an open top, which is intended for storing large tools, such as an angle grinder, a screwdriver or an electric drill. However, you can do the opposite: delimit the internal space into several sections with wooden blocks and store bolts, nuts and screws here;
  • additional boxes. There will be 4 of them, and they are installed on top of the main box, which must be taken into account when determining the dimensions. Additional drawers should not extend beyond the boundaries of the base. To give the structure a complete look, the upper boxes are equipped with lids;
  • individual elements are combined into a single whole. To do this, the organizer is assembled into a finished form, markings are made on the walls for installation metal plates: 3 pieces for a group of drawers on each side. Then, in accordance with the applied markings, holes are drilled where the bushings are installed.

To make the organizer easy to carry, the top drawers can be additionally equipped with handles.

Note that here are the most simple options. With a little effort, you can turn an ordinary toolbox into a work of art that will become a real decoration for your garage, country house and a city apartment.

Attention! When making a box for a specific product or product, you should take into account its size and weight. Toy boxes have standard sizes and characteristics.

Necessary tools and equipment

Before you begin your wood box project, you need to gather all your tools and equipment in one place.

We will need a machine for processing wood; a jointer and a circular saw must be present. Otherwise, we buy the strips we need in the store - size and thickness. You can’t do without a pencil, a tape measure, construction angle and a hammer.

We will use the machine for unprocessed wooden blanks, which we will make from boards 2.5 x 25 x 150 cm.

Instructions for making a wooden box

Let's take it circular saw and cut it into the size we need wooden elements, trimmed pieces are obtained. First we cut along the edges, then we set it to a width of 20 cm and finally saw it.

Be sure to wear special safety glasses while working. It is better if you have a good partner holding the sawn boards.

Having installed the carriage at an angle of 90 degrees, we cut the board into 5 pieces, 4 of which are 20 cm, and another one is 24 cm.

Set the plane parameters to a height of 1 mm and process each of the blanks from all sides to create rough versions of the board. For finishing work The height value should be set to 0.5 mm. The thickness of the finished boards should be 2 cm. We will get boards 2 x 20 x 20 cm.

There is no need to polish the workpiece until it shines; the box will be used for storing vegetables and fruits. Tool boxes are made according to the same principle.

We cut the remaining blanks to a width of 4.5 cm, taking into account the direction of the fibers. If you want to make the box ventilated, there will be 3 additional blanks in stock.

Assembling a wooden box

The entire assembly process is very simple, no tricks or hidden mysteries. We take the most ordinary nails 5 by 0.15 cm. Why thin nails? So that the structure is tightly fastened and the boards do not crack.

First we nail the top and bottom strips from the end, then place the remaining ones wooden blanks. Screw it to the bottom wooden base strips 24 cm long, use 35 mm screws.

Drawings and dimensions of wooden boxes are presented below.
