How to reprogram a car alarm remote control yourself. How to program StarLine alarm key fobs How to bind a key to an alarm system

As you know, the main and most expensive element of a modern car alarm is the key fob. In fact, a modern alarm key fob is a radio transmitter that controls the alarm unit in the car. At the same time, the device data “communicates” using a coded (encrypted) signal, due to which the system interacts only with those key fobs that are registered in the unit’s memory.

In this case, the key fob may fail for a number of reasons, various software failures are possible, the owner wants to delete old key fobs from memory, etc. In this case, the transmitter is often replaced with a new one, but without being linked to the unit, another key fob will not work, since the codes in the signals will not match.

In order to restore functionality, you will need to reprogram the alarm key fob. In other words, you need to know how to link the key fob to the alarm system, that is, register it in the memory of the module installed in the car. Next, we will look at how to reprogram the alarm in order to register a new key fob.

When is reprogramming necessary?

Reprogramming the key fob may be necessary for several reasons. It happens that a driver buys a used car that already has an alarm system built into it. The previous owner transfers the key fobs to the new owner of this vehicle. But there is always a chance that he still has one or two more control panels at home.

To protect yourself from trouble, you need to reprogram the key fob. This is considered an unwritten rule when purchasing a used car.

There are also some failures that can cause desynchronization of control and the system itself. If the alarm system uses a dynamic code, when you press the key fob button more than 30 times outside the range of the transmission unit, the remote control can become untied from the program.

The binding can be done independently. This process is simple, but has several features.

Why register new alarm key fobs?

First of all, when buying a used car with an installed alarm system, the new owner, for security reasons, must remove all key fobs from the memory of the module (unit), except those in his hands. Simply put, you should never exclude the possibility that an unscrupulous seller may keep a key fob, which can then be used to open the car for the purpose of stealing or committing other illegal actions.

It also often happens that the owner himself damaged or lost the alarm key fob. Of course, not everyone changes the entire alarm system, limiting themselves to purchasing a new key fob. In any case, you need to reprogram the alarm key fob, after which only the existing ones will work, and all other remote controls will be deactivated.

Preparing for work

Before reprogramming the alarm key fob, you need to familiarize yourself with some of the features of the upcoming process. If the key fob is lost, you should purchase a new device only of the same model that was originally included with the alarm.

If the system is controlled by several radio transmitters, they are all reprogrammed at the same time. Otherwise, they will not be able to be linked to the control unit later.

Most security system suppliers include instructions in the kit. Difficulties arise if it does not have a tab with text in Russian or is written with many errors (especially if the device is manufactured in China or Korea).

First of all, the car owner should look at these instructions. It should schematically show the structure of the remote control, signal receiving unit, etc. If for some reason the manual is missing, you can try to follow the generally accepted instructions.

How many remote controls can you register?

After purchasing a vehicle, you must install a new alarm system. In this case, the key fob will only need to be reprogrammed in the event of a divorce or any family disagreement.

If you buy a used car that already has a security system installed, the former owner can hide one of the remote controls and use it for illegal activities. In such a situation, the buyer must remember that up to 4 key fobs can be programmed onto one system. This number of remote controls is standard for each model of the security system, except for Scer Khan Magicar 5, and cannot be changed at the request of the car owner.

It is difficult to link a new alarm key fob to a third-party system. Because of this, you should install it on identical models and only after deleting all previously linked remote controls from memory. Otherwise, various difficulties may arise that will lead to malfunctions of the security system.

Reprogramming an alarm key fob is a simple task that anyone can do. To do this, you need to follow the instructions exactly and try to avoid mistakes.

Programming mode

Setting up the alarm key fob of any system begins with searching for the Valet or Overread button. Finding it is sometimes quite difficult. At this point, the original manufacturer's instructions will come in handy. If it is not there, you will have to search on your own.

This button is a switch. To prevent the driver from accidentally pressing it, the button is usually located in a place hidden from prying eyes. But there is always a way to get there. Most often, security system manufacturers leave this switch in the fuse box, which is located inside the cabin.

Owners of foreign cars should look under the panel with the inscription Fuse. The cover will need to be removed. Next, the opened space is inspected for the presence of a switch. It happens that the button is not here.

Then you need to examine all the places under the steering column and instrument panel. In this case, it is necessary to carefully check all removable plugs. Next you need to pay attention to the glove compartment. In some cases, the button may not be installed at all. It can also be located next to the security system control unit. In these cases, you will need to seek the help of a professional auto mechanic. If the button was not provided by the system, its role can be played by the ignition switch.

Ways to unlock Starline A91 key fob

If the remote control malfunctions, turn it off. You can use a custom code that you programmed earlier.

  • open the door with the key. The car will blink its turn signals 4 times;
  • turn the ignition key by pressing the Valet button the previously set number of times;
  • write the system startup code. The Starline remote control should vibrate slightly;
  • turn off the ignition. We receive confirmation from two flashes of turn signals;
  • The system is deactivated, you can go.

Basic programming technology

When studying the question of how to link a key fob to an alarm system, you should consider the basic principle of performing this process. After the switch button is found, the system is switched to service control mode (Valet mode). This allows you to set new functions, perform maintenance and force the alarm to turn off. Key fobs are also linked to the system in this mode.

However, setting the programming mode is not so simple. To do this, you need to know a special combination of pressing the switch. This is a specific security code that is needed to enhance the safety of using a car. It is prescribed by the manufacturer in the instructions. If for some reason the code has been changed, only a technical service professional can restore it.

If the code is correct, you can start programming. Typically, the kit can include up to 4 key fobs, which the car is controlled by. The alarm will work correctly if all remote controls are linked to it at the same time.

To make the process easier, you should assign numbers to each button on the remote control. “1”—activation of security; “2” — disarming; “3” — channel ch2; “4” — channel ch3; “5”—adjustment of key fob signals.

How to enable engine autostart using the Alligator remote control

The Alligator alarm kit includes two remote controls: a five-button and a four-button. The engine can be started from either a 5-button or 4-button key fob. To do this, you need to know the sequence of keystrokes.

The Alligator anti-theft system allows you to independently set the auto start of the car based on temperature, control the warm-up time, and adjust the time for automatic engine start and stop.

  1. Enter service mode by holding the F key for two seconds on the main pager. The screen will turn on and a beep will sound.
  2. Press F again, the display will show “timer”. CHIRP will follow.
  3. Select the desired time period in hours (1-2-3-4-6-24). Each press will be accompanied by a squeak and the turn signals will activate.
  4. Select temperature trigger mode. The “tempo” symbol will appear on the screen. The key fob will emit a melody and the turn signals will blink. Select the required autostart temperature (-10, -15, -20, -25).
  5. To exit, press the F key for two seconds. After exiting, the symbols for the selected functions are activated on the display.
  6. To disable autorun, reset the values in the menu.

Sheriff system key fobs

To understand how to attach a key fob to a Sheriff alarm, you need to read the instructions. First of all, the driver turns off the alarm and gets into the car, closes the door, and turns on the ignition.

Next, press the Valet button three times. After a single signal sounds, the control unit has entered programming mode. Each operation should be performed no longer than 5 s. Otherwise, the system will exit the programming mode (a short and then a long signal will sound). If you turn off the ignition, the same thing happens.

If you press the button three times, the alarm will emit several short beeps and one long beep. The first key fob holds the “1” button. When a long beep sounds, reprogramming has occurred. All other keychains undergo the same procedure. Then you can exit the setup mode (wait 5 s).

Changing the secret code in the Sheriff system

When learning how to reprogram an alarm key fob, you should consider the procedure for changing the secret code. To do this, the security system is turned off. Next, enter the secret code using the Valet button. The ignition is turned on, off and on again. Then, using the same button, set the first digit of the encoding. Then the ignition is turned off and on again. Then the second digit is entered. The procedure is repeated. A sound signal will notify you that the entered encoding is correct.

After the above mentioned manipulations, by triple pressing the settings lever, you need to enter the service mode. The alarm will emit several short beeps and one long beep.

On the first key fob, press the “1” button. A beep will notify you that the manipulation has been successfully carried out. According to this scheme, all other transmitters are linked to the alarm.

Programmable functions for your alarm

Alligator allows you to program the following features:

  • service: automatic door locking based on a tachometer signal or when the ignition is turned on, unlocking the car based on tachometer readings, protection against false alarms, etc.;
  • security functions: activation of protection with or without locking the doors, passive engine blocking, activation of the Anti-HiJack mode and more;
  • Remote engine start: starting the car based on temperature, time. Special mode for turbocharged cars and more.

Starline system key fobs

If the car has a Starline A91 alarm system, reprogramming is quite simple. To do this, the alarm is turned off. The hidden button to enter settings must be pressed 7 times. Only after this the ignition is turned on.

If the settings mode is activated, the siren will emit 7 beeps, and the backlight on the remote control will also appear. Next, you can reprogram the Starline car alarm key fob. Press buttons “1” and “2” at the same time. One beep will follow. Subsequent remote controls are then programmed in the same way.

The settings mode is exited automatically after 10 s. inaction. In this case, 5 flashes of the side lights will occur.

Checking the serviceability of the key fob

If the key fob fails, you need to find out which device is faulty. The alarm may not turn off or turn on either due to a breakdown of the remote control or failure of components located on the car. To check the functions of the communicator, you can use a spare device. If the system operates from signals from an additional device, then the key fob is damaged. When the “signaling” does not communicate with additional remote controls, the problem lies in the main unit of the system or the transceiver module.

To check the key fob, you can do the following:

  1. Visually inspect the device for cracks.
  2. Remove the battery and replace it with a new one.
  3. Before installing the element, check the condition of the contacts in the key fob. If there is a coating of rust, oxides or electrolyte from the battery on the surface, you will need to disassemble the remote control and clean the elements. After this, you can install a fresh battery and check the operation of the device.
  4. If the remote control does not work, then the reason should be sought in damaged elements on the printed circuit board. During operation, contact tracks may come off, buttons may fall through (a common problem with Starline remote controls), and elements may burn out. The key fob will have to be sent to a workshop for repair or purchased a new one.

Programming Starline Twage A6, A8, A9

Programming the popular alarm model Starline A91 is simple. But it should be borne in mind that the presented brand has a whole line of security systems of the Twage series.

To reprogram the key fobs for the Starline Twage A6, A8, A9 systems, you need to turn the ignition. Press the settings input button for 6 s. Then 4 beeps will sound.

To link the key fob with the display, press buttons “1” and “2” together. This procedure is similar to the previous settings. For an additional remote control without an LCD display, you need to hold down the “3” and “4” buttons. The number of beeps corresponds to the number of the radio remote control.

When all key fobs are recorded, the ignition is turned off. Then, if there is no action, the setup mode closes after 6 s. The side lights will light up 5 times.

Programming the Starline A91 key fob

Learning to use the alarm remote control is simple. Above we have given instructions for programming key fobs. However, the functionality of the system is wider. You can customize the alarm for yourself.

Button 1 on the key fob is responsible for the following system commands.

  1. Activation of security mode (one press).
  2. Silent security (two consecutive clicks).
  3. Door locking when the engine is running (one touch).
  4. Enable/disable shock sensor (double press).
  1. Exit alarm mode (1 press)
  2. Disabling silent security (2).
  3. Additional shock sensor (2 presses).
  4. Opening doors with the engine running (1).
  5. Alarm interruption (1).
  6. Anti-robbery mode (2).
  1. Indicator of temperature degrees in the cabin (1).
  2. Search mode (2).

A long press records additional system commands: auto start on an alarm clock, turbo timer, immobilizer and much more.

You can learn about the correct firmware of the key fob from the video.

Tomahawk system

The Tomahawk keychain can be recorded quite simply. There can be up to 4 pieces in the delivery set. To perform the binding, turn the ignition (the engine does not turn on). The settings button is held down until the siren sounds 4 times. The lever is released.

At the same time, press the sound control buttons on the remote control and open the trunk. They should be held in this position until the signal sounds. For the first key fob there will be one beep, and for the second transmitter – two (and so on). Once each Tomahawk key fob has learned the code, the system is left inactive for 5 seconds.

Unlocking Senmax key fob

The Cenmax Vigilant V10 D, V 8A, V 6A switch cannot be written to the anti-theft system memory. The remote control does not respond to key presses. The transmitter buttons may have been locked. To remove it, simultaneously press buttons 2 and 3 on the remote control. On the unidirectional key fob you will see two yellow LED flashes. “KEY LOCK” and a vibration signal will appear on the screen of the two-way remote control.

Alarm "Sherkhan"

To program the Sherkhan alarm key fob, you must use one of 2 main methods. The first approach does not apply a pin code. Within 4 s. you need to turn the ignition on and off. If the dimensions flicker, you have entered the settings.

Immediately you need to press the button of the first key fob. The dimensions will flash once. The same thing happens with other remote controls. To exit the settings mode, you must wait 4 seconds. After this, all key fobs linked to the control unit will function. Other devices will no longer be able to control the operation of the car.

Connecting a new car alarm pager with feedback

Synchronization of the control panel of the Alligator anti-theft system is performed according to the following algorithm.

  1. Turn off security mode. Turn on the ignition.
  2. During the allotted period of time (fifteen seconds), turn on “Jack” three times. The system will emit three siren sounds and the LED will flash slowly.
  3. Click the “closed lock” button on the remote control. A long CHIRP will follow. The transmitter will make one sound.
  4. Repeat the previous step for the remaining key fobs.
  5. Exit recording mode by turning off the ignition or doing nothing for fifteen seconds. You will hear a short and long siren signal.

Settings with PIN code

The second version of the Sherkhan system can use a PIN code. To do this, turn on the ignition for 4 s. The first digit of the code is entered. When the dimensions flash, the second digit is also entered. Then the button on the key fob is pressed. Next, the procedure is carried out in accordance with the previous method. To exit the service mode, you must wait 4 seconds.

Knowing how to reprogram an alarm key fob, you can complete the procedure quickly in any situation. Failures occur especially often in inexpensive systems. To quickly restore the connection between the key fob and the control unit, you need to know the technology for connecting control panels with alarm systems.

Not registered: reasons

Firmware for the key fob of the Senmax V-7A, ST 8 A, St 5 a, V 5 A anti-theft system may not work due to:

  • transmitter failure. Carry out the repairs yourself or contact an auto electrician;
  • “Valet” mode is enabled. Turn off the service mode and register the remote control again;
  • “ignition on” is not recognized by the system. Take the car to a service center;
  • the control unit has failed. Call the experts.

Starline A91: additional (spare) key fob

The alarm system has two remote controls - primary and secondary (see photo). The main key fob has a remote antenna, a color screen informing about the current state of the car, and three buttons on the side.

An additional or spare remote control differs from the main one and is necessary in case the first one is lost or the battery is dead. This key fob does not have a screen, and it cannot conduct a dialogue with its owner - a device without feedback. The remote control buttons are on the flat side, they retain all functions. A spare key fob can be used to open doors. The second remote control will help you unlock the interior or turn on the autostart of the engine.

How to replace the display on a key fob

Sometimes the Starline alarm remote control receives mechanical damage, due to which the display may crack and a certain number of symbols will simply no longer be displayed. This is extremely inconvenient, especially since this problem can be corrected by replacing it. To do this, you will need a new screen, a screwdriver and a set of soldering accessories (blowtorch, rosin, tin). First you need to disassemble the key fob and unsolder the old display, disconnecting it from the cable. Next, you may need to bend the contacts so that they do not rest against the board itself. Now you need to tin all the contacts on the key fob for better impulse transmission and solder the display to the cable. After assembly, the remote control should work properly.

Instructions for recording key fob codes into the alarm memory

Before programming the Starline key fob, you need to make sure that the markings on the new remote control of the installed security alarm correspond to the model designation on the old one. If the owner cannot independently determine the type of system, it is recommended to contact a specialized service.

When recording new Starline alarm remotes, you must re-enter the old ones into memory, since they are automatically deleted.

To record key fobs of Starline security systems, a service button is used, which is installed discreetly in the cabin. The programming procedure is different on some Starline alarm models.

Starline A4/A2/A1

Key fob codes are entered according to the following scheme:

  1. Disable security.
  2. When the ignition is inactive, press the service button seven times.
  3. Connect the ignition. The system will inform you that it is ready for recording with a seven-fold light indication and a siren.
  4. Press the K-I and K-II keys simultaneously. Hold them until the system gives a single short beep.
  5. The remaining remote controls are registered using a similar method. Each recording is confirmed by sound alerts, with the number of signals corresponding to the number of the key fob in memory.
  6. After recording the last remote control, turn off the ignition. If the system does not receive an information signal from the key fob within ten seconds, it exits the programming menu in automatic mode. The output is confirmed by the emergency lights operating five times.

Starline B6/B9

For the B6/B9 system, the procedure for recording remote controls is similar, with the exception of one point - the interval between entering key fobs into memory should not exceed five seconds. Alarms of the Starline B6 model can be equipped as an option with a digitally controlled radio relay; in this case, entry into the setting mode is indicated by a long sound signal (point 2).

How to disarm without a key fob

If the remote control is lost, an emergency shutdown of the alarm is provided. The car owner must open the car door using the key. Next, within 20 seconds, turn on the ignition and press the service button three times. Turn off the ignition again - if everything went well, the car will beep twice.

If the emergency shutdown mode is selected by entering a personal code, the action algorithm is different:

  • the door opens with a key;
  • within 20 seconds, the ignition is turned on, and the service button is pressed a number of times equal to the first digit of the code;
  • the ignition turns off. If the code is two-digit, then the procedure is repeated, only the Valet button must be pressed a different number of times (equal to the second digit of the code). If the code is three-digit, then the third stage follows.

How to turn off the alarm from the key fob

Also, if you have a working key fob, you can turn off the alarm using it. Disabling is simple - by pressing the second key. The car will make two sounds. You can disarm it without sound confirmation - this option will be activated if you make two consecutive short presses of the second button. There is also a silent security mode to protect the car without a siren or light indication. First, two presses of the second key are made on the key fob - one long, and the second short. After this, the car will not emit signals, and the owner’s key fob will only receive notifications.

Keychains Hormann HSM 4

In private use, the Hormann HSM 4 model is very popular. It provides four-channel remote control of gates and barriers. Overall dimensions of the product are 37*110*13, radio frequency 868 MHz. Has dynamic code.

programming a key fob for automatic gates:

  1. First, 2 devices are placed, old and new, “head to head”.
  2. Hold the key of the old key fob. The indicator should light constantly.
  3. Hold down the new programming key. The indicator light should flash slowly at first, and if programming is successful, it will start flashing quickly after 4 seconds.

Our house

The radio transmitter, also known as the key fob, is the main device for commanding the alarm. The signal from it is sent to the control unit in the car, being a unique code. Thus, out of thousands of combinations, the system reacts only to the correct one. Our instructions will tell you how to reprogram the alarm key fob to create a new code.

Why do you need to reprogram?

If you buy a new car and install a new alarm system, you may not need to re-set the code further (unless there is a family disagreement).

A more problematic case is when you buy a used car and it already has an alarm system. The former owner solemnly hands you one or two keychains and waves his hand. And where is the guarantee that he doesn’t have a couple more remote controls lying around and no one will come at night to disarm your car and quietly drive away with it? After all, the basic set of keychains could have as many as four! Cases are different, so the best solution would be to reprogram the alarm key fob. After this, all “doubtful” remote controls completely lose their power.

The main rule: each alarm model comes with its own remote control and cannot be used for another model. And one more thing: if you had several remote controls in the kit, they will also need to be programmed, all at once, otherwise they will not work with the control unit.

As a rule, linking a key fob to an alarm system is not such a difficult task for most systems, but some difficulties may arise.

Each manufacturer and model has its own instructions for the key fob, as well as step-by-step manuals for programming it. But they all start with using the Valet or Overread button. Where is she located? If you are not the first owner of the car and don’t know anything about its whereabouts, let’s start searching.

It is a switch and is usually installed in a secluded place, but with access. The most common location is the fuse box inside the passenger compartment. In foreign cars it is usually located under the panel with the inscription “Fuse”. Remove the cover and inspect the block for a button. If it is not there, we examine all the places under the instrument panel, steering column, checking all removable plugs and pockets. We carefully inspect the glove compartment. If nothing is found, perhaps it was not installed at all or is located next to the alarm control unit, which is very difficult to get to without the help of a specialist. If it is not provided by the system, then its role will be played by the ignition switch.

So, the first thing we do is switch the alarm to service mode (Valet mode). It allows you to carry out maintenance of the car alarm, forcefully disable it, program new functions and connect key fobs. To switch to this mode, a special combination of button presses is used, also known as a security code. This is done to avoid unauthorized access to management. Once a code has been activated, unless it is entered correctly, programming the alarm will not be possible. The instructions usually indicate the factory code and, if it was not changed intentionally, then this makes the task easier. If it does not fit, you need to contact the service.

Let's say the code works. Next, we program each key fob in turn; there can be no more than four of them in total. As reference material, excerpts from the instructions of the most common models from five manufacturers are taken: Sheriff, Tomahawk, StarLine, Cenmax and Scer-Khan Magicar 5.

For convenience, we will assign a number to each button on the remote control. Security activation button – “1”; disarming – “2”; programmable channel ch2 – “3”; channel ch3 – “4”; control button for remote control signals – “5”.

Programming Sheriff alarm key fobs

General rule: each subsequent operation is performed within 5 seconds after the previous one. If the interval is exceeded, the system exits the setup mode. The same thing will happen if you turn off the ignition. The signal to stop programming is one short and then one long siren sound.

  • Turn off the alarm, get into the car and turn the ignition key.
  • Press the Valet button 3 times. A single signal will confirm that the control unit is ready to program the transmitters.
  • Repeat the operation, the siren will emit several short beeps and one long beep.
  • Hold down the “1” button on the first remote control until the siren notifies you with a long signal that programming has been completed.
  • Repeat the operation for all other transmitters.
  • To exit the settings mode, turn off the ignition or wait more than 5 seconds.

How to program a secret code into a Sheriff alarm key fob

  • Disarm the car and immediately enter the secret code using the Valet button.
  • Turn the ignition on, off, and then turn it on again.
  • Use the same button to enter the first digit of the code and turn the ignition off and on again.
  • Enter the second digit, repeating the same thing again. The system will confirm the correctness of the entered code with a sound signal.
  • By triple pressing the button, enter the service mode. The siren will emit several short beeps, then one long beep.
  • At the first transmitter, press button “1” and the system will confirm with a sound signal that the new code has been successfully recorded.
  • Do the same with the remaining transmitters in turn.

Remember that by setting a new code, you automatically delete the old one, which means that the system will not be able to work with key fobs that have not been updated.

How to program a Tomahawk alarm key fob

Similar to the previous one, this system stores up to four remote controls in memory. We connect key fobs of models TW-9010 and TZ-9010:

  • Turn the ignition on without starting the engine.
  • Keep the Valet button pressed.
  • After waiting for four siren signals, we release. We have entered programming mode.
  • We simultaneously press the buttons to open the trunk and control the sound of the remote control. Hold until the siren sounds: 1 time for the first key fob, 2 times for the second and so on.
  • When memorization is complete, wait more than 5 seconds for the system to exit the settings mode.

In this case, key fobs that have not been programmed will be deleted from memory.

  • Press the hidden button 7 times.
  • Turn on the ignition. 7 siren signals and LED lights on the remote control indicate that you have entered the system.
  • Simultaneously press “1” and “2” buttons and hear one beep. Key fob #1 is programmed.
  • The recording of each of the subsequent key fobs is confirmed by the required number of signals.

After 10 seconds of inactivity, the system automatically turns off, as indicated by 5 flashes of the side lights.

Recording key fob code for StarLine Twage A6, A8, A9

  • We turn on the ignition.
  • Press the service button for 6 seconds and wait for four sound signals.
  • On the key fob with an LCD display, press the “1” and “2” buttons together until a sound signal appears. An additional key fob without a display is recorded in the same way, but by pressing the “3” and “4” buttons.
  • Repeat step 3 for the remaining key fobs. The number of sound signals is equal to the key fob number.
  • Turn off the ignition.

To exit the setting mode, you need to wait more than 6 seconds, after which the side lights will blink 5 times.

As before, unprogrammed key fobs lose contact with the control unit.

Programming the alarm key fob on Scer-Khan Magicar 5

The Shere Khan system remembers the codes of only three key fobs. If you enter a fourth key fob, the code of the first one is automatically erased. If you need 4 key fobs, it is recommended to program two of them with the same serial number.

There are two algorithms for registering a key fob: without using a secret PIN code and with it.

Method 1 (without PIN code):

  • Within four seconds, turn the ignition key three times from the “Off” mode to the “On” position and turn it off. Flashing dimensions will tell you that you have entered the programming system.
  • No later than 4 seconds later, press the button on the first key fob. In response, the alarm lights will blink 1 time.
  • Similarly, enter the codes for the second and third key fobs. After the second, the lights blink once again in response, and after the third, twice, which indicates that the programming mode is over.

If you do not take any action after the first step, the hazard lights will flash 2 times and the system will go into Valet service mode.

Method 2 (use personal PIN code 1):

  • We perform it similarly to the first method.
  • Over the next four seconds, turn the key in the same way, but in accordance with the first digit of the PIN code. The alarm will blink, now enter the second digit in the same way.
  • No later than four seconds, press the button on the key fob. The system will flash once to confirm.
  • We carry out all other keychains in accordance with method 1.

To automatically exit the service, wait more than four seconds.

Knowledge of reprogramming a key fob helps out in an emergency situation, for example, when the connection between the key fob and the control unit is suddenly lost. This happens, especially in low-cost systems. In order not to become a hostage to a screaming car somewhere in a supermarket parking lot, every driver should know where the Valet button is in his car and what to do in this case.

In what cases is it necessary to reprogram the key fob?

The main reason for reprogramming Sherkhan remotes is the loss and acquisition of a new device.

Common reasons are:

  1. The system does not turn on or off from one key fob, commands are sent normally from the second.
  2. Damage to some of the display segments, which makes it impossible to set the engine to autostart and to obtain a visual display of triggered security zones.
  3. Damage to the case or printed circuit board of one of the standard remote controls.
  4. The need to use additional control devices. For example, when buying a car with a security system equipped with one key fob.
  5. De-synchronization of the key fob transceiver and antenna module. A similar phenomenon may occur due to exposure to radio interference.

Doorhan

The Doorhan company is a large Russian supplier of automation for gates, remote controls, and radios. Focuses on the global market.

Doorhan Transmitter 2, Transmitter 4 – remote controls with dynamic code. Operating frequency 433 MHz. Designed for remote control of two and four automatic Doorhan devices, as well as any other automation with an existing Doorhan radio. One key fob can control two (four) gates and barriers.

Programming Doorhan remote controls with DHRE-2 receiver

1. Clear the memory of old codes. After turning on the power, hold down the record button on the remote control for about 10 seconds. The indicator will blink for 10 seconds, then go off, then blink twice. All old codes have been removed.

2. To write down the remote control code, press and hold the “SW1” key on the receiver board for 3 seconds. Then press the button on the remote control for 2-3 seconds.

3. If settings for other remote controls are required, then the code is recorded again.

You can program a specific control channel with each key.

What to do if StarLine B9 does not work

Sometimes the owner experiences problems with the alarm and needs to understand the existing problem. For example, the car does not see the feedback key fob or does not respond to the command. Accordingly, the owner cannot open the car, start the car or select the required security mode. In this case, you need to check the condition of the remote control power supply and replace the battery if necessary.

Moreover, if the car does not receive the remote control well, then the reason for this may be a poor signal from the transceiver located near metal parts that create interference. It needs to be moved to a more protected place.

There are also options when the car alarm constantly notifies the owner about hacking attempts, the key fob regularly vibrates, and the SP error is written on the display. The reason for this behavior is that the shock sensor is too sensitive. Both stages (impact and hacking) can be adjusted using a standard screwdriver, reaching the sensor itself (it has special controls).

If false alarms sometimes occur and additional software glitches appear, then it is best to reset to factory settings. After this, most of the problems should disappear, but if they can’t be fixed, it’s better to take the car to a specialized service center, where qualified specialists will sort out the issue and fix all the problems.

Came Company

Programming the Came remote control follows a similar scheme. First you need to press and hold the Prog button on the receiver. As soon as the LED starts flashing, you need to press the corresponding protrusion on the key fob with your second hand. If the diode lights up with a steady light, then both buttons must be released. The remote control will be written to the drive.

It will not be possible to record a second key fob using the same instructions, since this way you can only recode the receiver. That is, the first device will be erased from memory, and a new one will be written in its place. Instead, a copying procedure must be carried out. On the new device, you need to press and hold both buttons, the LED will start blinking. Then they are released and the one that allows you to program the receiver is pressed; the light should light up evenly.

After ten seconds, the first remote control, which has already been connected to the drive, is brought to the key fob. It is placed behind the connected device, and the operating button is pressed on it. The diode should blink three times and go out. This is how the Came key fob is programmed.

Keychain components and diagram

Most of the control of the Starline Twage A9 car alarm is carried out via key fobs. There are two of them in the standard configuration - the main one and the additional one. The housings of both devices are made of impact-resistant plastic. In addition, the main one is equipped with a vibration and sound alarm, as well as a liquid crystal display, where special icons are responsible for indicating functions. The additional gadget only has buttons.

Both the main and additional remote controls operate in the same radio frequency - 433.92 MHz. But, at the same time, they are powered by different types of elements:

  • main - from AAA battery;
  • additional - from a lithium battery.

Batteries require timely replacement if the car owner wants the device to function correctly. In addition, it is highly recommended not to allow the internal elements to get wet. If this does happen, you need to disassemble the key fob as quickly as possible and dry it.

The manufacturer allows the possibility of purchasing a spare key fob for the W808 model. Such a device is useful in case the service button is pressed, as evidenced by the appearance of the zz and save symbols on the screen.

How to reset settings

It is possible to return the remote control settings to their original values only by removing the battery for a few seconds. To access the battery on your communicator, you will need to remove the cover of the compartment located on the back of the case. The power supply (AAA standard) is installed observing polarity; the wiring diagram is shown on the inside of the cover. Since the key fob is trained (the code is not deleted from memory), it is necessary to adjust the parameters of the built-in clock.

The additional key fob is equipped with a housing consisting of 2 halves. To replace the battery, the sections are separated with a thin screwdriver or a metal plate. After installing a fresh battery, the halves snap into place; no remote adjustment is required.

Programming system transmitter codes

A total of 4 transmitters can be programmed into the system memory (maximum of two 4-button transmitters and two 3-button transmitters). When programming a new or additional transmitter, all codes of previously programmed transmitters (4-button and 3-button) will be automatically erased from the system memory. (this means that all key fobs will be deleted and they need to be reprogrammed again according to the instructions)

ATTENTION: Remember that each operation must be completed within 15 seconds of the previous operation. If the 15-second interval is exceeded, the system will automatically exit programming mode, which will be confirmed by one short and one long beep from the siren. If the ignition was turned off during programming, the system will also immediately exit the programming mode and you will hear 1 short and 1 long siren signal.

To program additional system transmitters:

1.Disarm the system and get into the car.

2. If using function No. 8 the standard (uncoded) emergency disablement mode is programmed, then go to step 3. If function No. 8 is turned off (disabling the system using a personal code), then to enter the mode of programming the system transmitter codes you You will need to enter your personal code as described below:

♦ Turn the ignition on, off and on again

♦ Within 15 seconds, press and release the Valet button switch a number of times equal to the 1st digit of your personal code (factory setting – 1 time), then turn off and turn on the ignition again.

Note: If your personal code consists of only one digit, skip the next step.

♦ Within 15 seconds, press and release the Valet button switch a number of times equal to the 2nd digit of your personal code (factory setting – 1 time), then turn off and turn on the ignition again.

3.Within 15 seconds after turning on the ignition, press the Valet button switch 3 times. You will hear 1 short beep and the LED will begin to flash slowly, confirming that the system is ready to program a new transmitter.

4.Press and release the transmitter button. You will hear a long siren signal confirming that the programming of the 1st transmitter has been completed.

6.For exit from programming mode:

♦ turn off the ignition or

♦ wait 15 seconds without performing any actions.

You will hear 1 short and 1 long siren sound, confirming that the system has exited transmitter programming mode.

Alarm key fob: programming

Having figured out why you need to reprogram (rewrite) key fobs, you should also note that each alarm model has its own key fobs, that is, you cannot register a key fob for another alarm system. In other words, if , then registering the Tomahawk key fob (suitable remote control models) will not be difficult, but it will not be possible to register the Sheriff key fob, etc.

You should also emphasize that if you already have several key fobs, but you need to register more, you will need to program everything, even those that are already working. The reason is that when reprogramming, all previously recorded key fobs are deleted from the alarm unit’s memory. This means that without rewriting the previously working remotes will not be able to interact with the control unit.

  • As for how to register the key fob Starline, Sheriff, Tomahawk, etc., it is important to understand that each manufacturer offers its own algorithms, but in general the actions are similar. If you study the manuals for different alarms, when reprogramming you usually need to interact with the Valet or Overread button.

In fact, such a button is a hidden switch that is hidden in the car (usually in a hidden and hard-to-reach place). It is often installed in the fuse box in the passenger compartment, hidden under the instrument panel, under the steering column, in the glove compartment, under removable plugs, etc.

Sometimes it happens that the system may not have such a button at all. In this case, its function is performed by the ignition switch. As a rule, all modern security systems are still equipped with a service button, so let’s take a closer look at it.

Having found the button, you should use it to switch the alarm to the service mode, which is called valet mode. This is a mode that allows you to service the alarm, forcefully turn it on and off, as well as program the alarm, including registering key fobs.

To enter this mode, a special combination of button presses must be used (similar to a security code). Such protection is needed to limit the ability of outsiders to access the valet mode. If a code has ever been set, unless it is entered correctly, access to the programming function will not be available.

As a rule, the manual has a standard default code. If it hasn't been changed, then there won't be any problems. If the standard code is not suitable, professional help is needed. In any case, by entering valet mode, you can program each key fob in turn, but you can register up to 4 remote controls in total.

For example, if we look at the manuals for various popular alarm systems, for simplicity we can conventionally designate the key fob buttons with the numbers 1 (close and arm), 2 (open and disarm), programmable channel 3, programmable channel 4, remote control signal control button 5 .

So, before starting overwriting, it is important to consider that each operation must be performed 5 seconds after the previous one. If such an interval is not maintained, the system automatically exits the alarm setting mode.

If you turn off the ignition, the system will also exit the service mode. The fact that programming is completed will be indicated by siren sound signals (1 short sound, followed by 1 long sound).

So, in general terms:

  • To start rewriting, you should disarm the car and insert the key into the ignition.
  • Next, press the Valet button in the cabin (the code may differ on different models, for example, you need to press 3 times).
  • The siren signal should confirm that the control unit is in the key fob programming mode.
  • Next, you should press button 1 on the key fob and wait until the system notifies with an audible signal that the key fob is registered (programming is completed).
  • Then you should repeat the procedure to record the remaining key fobs.
  • When finished, exit the Valet service mode, turn off the ignition or wait 5 seconds.

Please note that on some alarm models, you may first need to enter a code through the Valet button, after which the ignition is turned on, off and on again.

Next, use the Valet button to enter the first digit of the code, after which the ignition is turned off and on. For the second digit the actions are similar. If the code is entered successfully, the system notifies you with a sound signal.

After this, you need to press the button 3 times, which will allow you to enter the service mode. There will also be a sound notification about entering this mode. It also happens that the Valet button just needs to be held down for a few seconds to enter the service mode, pressed 6 or 7 times, etc.

  • The process of recording key fobs is often the same on different models, but it happens that when entering the service mode for recording remotes, you need to hold down two buttons at the same time (for example, opening the trunk and controlling the sound of the key fob).

You need to hold down the buttons until the siren starts giving a sound confirmation (one beep for key fob 1, respectively, 2 beeps for key fob 2, etc.).

If you do not press the key fob buttons within 5-10 or 15 seconds and do not send commands to the unit, the system will automatically exit the alarm settings mode. At the same time, you need to remember that key fobs that were not recorded will also be automatically deleted from memory.

However, in some cases, recording key fobs can be a more complex procedure than discussed above. For example, if the alarm is Starline A91, you can register the StarLine alarm key fob as follows: disarm the car, press the Valet button seven times, turn on the ignition, wait for 7 siren signals, and the key fob lights up.

Next, in order to register a key fob for Starline A91, you should simultaneously press buttons 1 and 2 on the key fob, after which one siren sound will notify that the key fob is recorded in the memory of the alarm control unit.

The recording of the following key fobs will also be confirmed by the corresponding number of sound signals. If you do not give any more commands, after 10 seconds the system will exit the settings mode (the turn signals will flash 5 times).

What's the result?

As you can see, the need to program the alarm key fob may arise for various reasons (for security purposes, when replacing the key fob, etc.). It is important to understand that unprogrammed key fobs will not work with the control unit.

In other words, programming key fobs allows you to remove other previously recorded key fobs from the alarm unit’s memory, which is especially convenient if you are purchasing a used car or the car already comes with an alarm system installed.

Also, knowing how to reprogram the key fob, in some cases, allows you to return the system to functionality in the event of unexpected failures (for example, loss of communication between the key fob and the control unit).

Also, the ability to work with the service mode and knowledge of where the Valet button is located in the car allows you to forcibly turn off the alarm and delete key fobs from memory if the key fob is faulty, stolen or lost, etc.

Finally, we note that before starting any actions with the alarm, you must have the manual at hand and also study it. Also, by changing the codes to enter the service mode or rewriting the key fobs, the old codes and remote controls will be deleted.

So, it is imperative to take into account the features and nuances discussed above if you plan to perform any actions in the Valet Mode service mode (activating functions, disabling alarms, setting modes, reprogramming key fobs, etc.).

  • The radio transmitter, or in common parlance - the key fob, is the main device that is responsible for commanding the alarm. From this device the signal goes directly to the control unit in the car.

    1. Why do you need to reprogram.

If a motorist purchases a new vehicle and installs a new alarm system, then no further code resetting will be required. If the car is used and already installed, for safety reasons you need to replace it, or better yet, reprogram the alarm key fob. It is important to remember that each alarm model has its own special remote control, which cannot be used for other models. If the kit contains several remote controls, then they must be reprogrammed together and immediately.

Each manufacturer makes its own instructions for the key fob, which includes step-by-step manuals for programming it. It is important to note that they all start with the use of a button "Valet". This button is a switch and is installed in most cases on the instrument panel or under it. If the search ends in failure, then you should look at the instructions, since the role of the on/off switch can be played by

First, you need to put the alarm in service mode, which will allow you to carry out maintenance of the alarm device, program and disable it, and connect the key fob. In order to switch to this mode, you need to use a special combination of button presses, which is also a security code. This is done in order to avoid unauthorized access to management. Often the factory code is attached to the instructions, but if this is not the case, then you need to contact a special service. Below are descriptions of programming alarm key fobs for the most common models of manufacturers. A small detail: to make things simpler and clearer, we will assign numbers to all the remote control buttons.

    Security activation button – "1"; disabling security – "2"; channel сh2 – "3"; channel сh3 – "4"; button for adjusting signals – "5".

    2. Programming Sheriff alarm key fobs.

It is important to note the general rule: each further procedure will be performed within 5-6 seconds after the previous one. If the interval is exceeded, the system will automatically exit the setup mode. The same thing will happen when the ignition is turned on. A sign that programming has stopped is one short signal, followed by another long siren signal.

First you need to turn off the alarm and turn the ignition key. The “Valet” button must be pressed 3 times, after which a single signal will sound, symbolizing the device’s readiness for programming. This operation should be repeated, as a result of which the siren will give several more short and one long signals. Button “1” must be held on the first remote control until a long signal sounds, which indicates that programming has been completed. The same procedure must be repeated for all existing transmitters. To exit the settings mode, you need to turn off the ignition.

Blocking the secret code in the alarm key fob Sheriff is not a complicated process. To do this, you need to disarm the car, and then enter the secret code using the Valet button. Next you need to turn the ignition on, off and turn again. The same button must be used to enter the first digit of the code, after which you must turn the ignition off and on again.

Using the same principle, you need to enter the second digit, the system signals that the entered code is correct. By triple pressing, the service mode will be entered, the sign of which will be the sound of the siren, several short and one long signal. You need to press the “1” button at the first transmitter, after which the system will confirm the success of the procedure with a sound signal. The same must be done with the remaining transmitters. It is important to remember that when you install a new code, the old one will be deleted.

    3. How to program the Tomahawk alarm key fob.

Just like the previous system, this system stores up to four remote controls in memory. First you need to crank the ignition, but do not start the engine. Next, you should hold the Valet button pressed for several seconds, after which 4 siren signals will appear, which will signal that the button needs to be released. Now the motorist has entered the abode of programming. You need to simultaneously press the buttons to open the trunk and control the sound of the remote control. You need to hold them until the siren sounds 1 time for the first key fob, 2 times for the second, etc. After the memorization is completed, after 5 seconds, the system will exit the settings mode. All unprogrammed key fobs will be deleted from memory.

    4. How to register the StarLine alarm key fob.

In this procedure, you need to start by disarming the car. The Valet button must be pressed seven times and the ignition cranked. If seven siren signals and LED lights are heard directly on the control panel, then the motorist has entered the system. Next, you need to simultaneously press “1” and “2” buttons, as a result of which one single sound signal will appear. That's it, the first one was programmed successfully. All subsequent key fobs will be confirmed with the required amount of signal. After this operation, after 10 seconds of inactivity, the system will automatically turn off and 5 flashes of the side lights will appear.

    5. Programming the alarm key fob on Scer-Khan Magicar 5.

This system is aimed at remembering the codes of only three key fobs. If a fourth additional key fob is entered, the code of the first will be automatically erased. In this model, there are two ways to program the key fob: without a PIN code and with it. In the first method, you need to start with something simple: within 4-5 seconds you need to turn the ignition on and off completely. The blinking of the dimensions indicates that you have entered the programming system. More than 3 seconds later, you need to press the button on the first key fob, the alarm lights will flash 1 time. After this, you just need to enter the codes of the second and third key fobs. After each time, the dimensions will flash the corresponding number of times, which will indicate the completion of the procedure.
