In this publication you will learn how to carefully and evenly use a jar using motor or vegetable oil.

Filling the dishes cold water to the level where we want to make a cut. We place it in some container, which also needs to be filled with water to the level of water from the container. Now add oil to the bowl until a thin oil crust forms on the surface of the water, which will completely envelop the glass container.

The most important thing is that you should not pour oil straight from the bottle, since the film will be uneven and thus you will not succeed.

Next, to carry out the procedure of cutting a bottle or jar, we will select a piece of metal. The thicker the glass we want to cut, the thicker the metal should be. The glass is quite thin, so the blade stationery knife fit perfectly. Heat it red hot using a burner or gas stove.

Now lower the hot blade into the bowl just to the oil level.

Remember to protect your skin and eyes from hot splashes!

Due to the quickly heated film, the glass heats up, and due to the temperature difference it cracks. So we can cut it neatly glass bottle.

As you can see, the chip turned out perfectly smooth.

Today, “Hand Made” creativity is gaining more and more momentum every day. Very often, handicraftsmen use glass bottles in their creations. They are used to make vases, lamps, stands, etc.
I'll show you a very simple way to cut a bottle evenly in almost a few seconds.

All we need is nichrome wire, accumulator battery 12 V and cold water.

Cutting the bottle

First you need to determine the location of the incision. To make it even, take a piece of paper and wrap it around the bottle. Align the edges of the sheet so that the line is straight. Then take a felt-tip pen or marker and draw a border along the edge of the piece of paper. Now the leaf can be removed.

Next, you need to take a piece of nichrome wire with a diameter of 0.5 mm and attach one end to a stationary object. For these purposes I use a black weight. We immediately attach one wire from the battery to it.

We make a loop around the bottle. And we align it along the mark from the marker.

To avoid getting burned, take the wire with pliers. We tighten it just a little so that the wire is aligned.
Apply voltage to the second end of the wire.

It can be seen that the wire is hot. In places of contact with the bottle, the wire does not completely turn red, since the bottle takes away heat.

We wait without moving the wire and holding it under tension for about 30 seconds.
Then we quickly remove the wire and spray the heating area with water. You can also prepare a bucket of water and dip the bottle in it.

You will hear a peculiar click of the glass, and the bottle will burst exactly along the line where the nichrome wire passed.

The explanation is simple: when heating a certain place in the glass, internal tension. After sudden cooling, the surface of the glass cools sharply, and its inner part it stays warm. As a result of such a sharp change, microcracks appear, which instantly turn into splits.

This trick can be done not only with bottles round shape, but also square, oval, etc.

Glass bottles and jars - excellent material for DIYers, from which you can make something new and unusual. To process them, as it turned out, it is not necessary to use mechanical means. For example, I will show you how to cut a bottle lengthwise using an electric current.

Materials

What you will need to cut glass:
  • A spray bottle filled with plain water.
  • A piece of asbestos or other heat-resistant or fire-resistant material, for example, paronite.
  • Packaging of rubber bands - can be purchased at office supply stores.
  • A piece of nichrome wire can be obtained from almost any electric heating devices.
  • A power source capable of delivering 30-40 V and a current of 3-4 A.
  • Well, the actual cutting object itself is a glass bottle.

Cut the bottle in half

First, you need to thoroughly straighten the nichrome wire, since the evenness of the edge of the bottle cut depends on its evenness. Unwind the spiral if you previously had nichrome in the spiral.

Now you need to wrap the bottle with this wire and secure it with rubber bands. In fact, nichrome wire is future line along which the bottle will be cut.

We record the passage of the wire in several places.
We prepare asbestos: cut or break into small pieces.

Then we put these pieces under the elastic bands on all sides. This must be done so that when heated the wire does not damage the rubber flagella. In principle, if there is no asbestos, then it can be replaced with wooden slats.

We push the lump into the neck, thereby pressing the pieces of wire from the inside of the neck of the bottle.

The neck of the bottle is generally the problematic part, since the glass there is thicker. The bottom of the bottle is also a problem area. Therefore, in order to press the wire to the bottom, you need to place the bottle on a ledge made from a piece of asbestos.

When everything is prepared, connect to the ends of the wire electricity. Variable or constant does not matter. A voltage of approximately 36 V and a current of 3-4 A will be required.

Let's connect. The wire begins to turn red. We wait about 30-60 seconds.

Turn off the source and use a spray bottle to vigorously spray the areas where the wire comes into contact with the glass.
