Beautiful, properly selected curtains are an integral part of the interior. The overall perception of the room depends on how they are fixed. The best option for fixing them today is the ceiling cornice, which allows you to visually increase the height of the room. To install the structure, significant efforts and large calculations are not required, so you can fix the ceiling cornice for curtains with your own hands.

Classification

Modern ceiling cornices for curtains are classified depending on the material, method of fastening, profile design, size and shape. For the manufacture of ceiling cornice manufacturers use three materials: wood, plastic, metal. Wooden structures are more suitable for interiors in a classic style. For rooms where all the furnishings are selected in a modern style, metal structures are more suitable. Lightweight plastic cornices are universal, they will look harmoniously in almost any interior.

There are two types of ceiling mounts. Either it is hung from the ceiling using various fasteners through a hole in the bar, or it is mounted on brackets, which, in turn, are attached to the wall or ceiling.

Profile designs for different models differ in the number of rows. In single-row systems, there is only one track. In this case, it will be possible to hang the curtains in only one layer. The multi-row system is characterized by the presence of 2 to 4 tracks, it allows you to create multi-layer compositions from different textures of textile fabric.

For the classic version, when curtains with curtains are suspended, a two-row design is suitable. When adding a lambrequin, a three-row cornice is required. The 4-row system allows you to create complex designs from several types of fabrics.

The shape of the cornices are of the following types:

  • Straight rectangular cornice. This type allows you to hang curtains, curtains and pelmets in a straight line is the most common option and is called a profile cornice. A variation of the rectangular shape are rounded cornices, consisting of the main straight part and two separate arcuate elements attached to the main part (tire). Cornices of this design have recently been very popular due to their rounded edges, which give the curtains a neat look and smooth shapes;

  • profile cornice. This cornice, consisting of components, is suitable not only for windows located in one straight line, but also for windows located on different walls next to each other. Thanks to the arcuate elements, it is possible to simulate an angular version. Rotary elements fully coincide with the linear parts. Rows are formed along which runners with curtains move freely;

  • Flexible bay window. A real find for panoramic windows characterized by non-standard geometry. There are string and profile options. The string structure consists of one or more metal cables stretched between brackets. The length of each string can reach a length of 5-6 meters. The flexibility inherent in the design of the string makes it possible to design walls with a complex configuration without much effort, as well as to draw them along the perimeter of the bay window ledge. Any person can handle the installation of this design.

But do not forget that string cornices are characterized by low bearing capacity, therefore they are not designed for the use of dense, heavy fabrics.

Light airy fabrics (chiffon, organza, cambric) are more suitable for this design.

A more popular option for bay window cornices is the tire version. It is made from either aluminum or plastic.

Plastic profiles are easy to install, lightweight, affordable and can be used in any room, as they are resistant to moisture. Aluminum curtain rods are strong enough, have a long service life, spectacular appearance and are resistant to deformation.

Due to the flexibility of the design, it can be given any configuration, it can be bent up to 100 degrees. But at the same time, it has sufficient strength and, unlike the string structure, can withstand a load of up to 80 kg.

Any cornice can be decorated with a special plank - a baguette. The most common material from which baguettes of various textures and colors are made is plastic. It is he who has a low price and, most importantly, flexibility that allows you to use a baguette in almost any eaves.

One of the main functions of a baguette is to hide some details, namely guides with hooks, flaws made when sewing curtains, construction flaws in the window opening area. In addition, the baguette helps to visually model the space, participating in the interior style.

How far can you hang?

Before you buy a cornice, you need to make measurements of the window opening.

The optimal length should be such that when the curtains are pulled apart, the window opening is completely open.

Determining this distance is simple: it should not exceed 40 cm from the end of the cornice to the window slope on each side. This is a standard value that allows you to freely open the window, but it can vary depending on the type of windows, the width of the curtains, as well as your preferences. If there are two adjacent windows, the distance from the end of the cornice to the window is 30 cm.

When ceiling mounting, it is necessary to calculate the optimal distance from the wall at which the windows will open without any problems, hanging curtains will not touch the window sill and the heating system. As a rule, a margin of 10-15 cm is enough.

For a ceiling structure attached to the wall with a bracket, a gap of 5 cm must be left between the top of the fastener and the ceiling. This rule applies especially to round and string cornices. Rings or eyelets used for hanging curtains in these types, in the absence of a gap or a distance of less than 5 cm, can cling to the ceiling when moving. The height of 5 cm can vary in one direction or another, depending on the type of curtains and your preferences.

Before purchasing a cornice, it is also necessary to take into account the weight of the curtains that will be hung on one or another type of cornice, especially if you plan to hang a multilayer composition.

Round eaves, no longer than 1.9-2 m and having a standard pipe with a diameter of 16 mm, can withstand a load of up to 3 kg per row. For longer cornices, the pipe diameter must be greater than 16 mm to eliminate the risk of sagging.

Tire aluminum cornices are able to withstand a significant weight of textile fabric. Tapestry curtains or thick curtains in combination with light curtains can be safely hung on such cornices that can withstand up to 50 kg of fabric.

How to assemble and install yourself?

In order to attach absolutely any cornice, tools are needed. First of all, you need to prepare an impact drill or hammer drill. The choice of one or another tool depends on the type of wall being processed. If the wall is concrete, then you can’t do without a puncher, and if the wall is made of brick, then you can use a drill.

Both a drill and a hammer drill require victorious drills. Moreover, there should be several of them, since the possibility of the drill getting into steel reinforcement, leading to damage or breakage, is not ruled out. Also, to install the eaves, you will need a tape measure and a marker for marking.

Now we proceed directly to the process of preparing the ceiling cornice, which consists of the following steps:

  • If the cornice turned out to be longer than necessary, then it is necessary to cut off the extra centimeters using a square or a hacksaw. When ceiling mounted, a hole is drilled in the middle of the profile, but if you plan to hang several layers of heavy curtains, then the location will be somewhat different. A few centimeters recede from the center of the cornice in both directions so that the width of the product is divided by two holes into three equal parts;
  • Next, holes are drilled throughout the product, at a distance of 60 cm. If the curtains are very heavy, then this distance can be reduced to 20-50 cm. The rule applies here: the less durable the ceiling, the smaller the distance between the fasteners should be;
  • We apply a tire with ready-made holes to the ceiling and make marks on the surface either through one central one, or through two, located at an equidistant distance from the center (for heavy curtains). You need to place the cornice strictly parallel to the window opening. Then the product is attached first in the center, and then aligned, and its edges are fixed.

When installing the cornice on different surfaces, there are some nuances that must be taken into account so that the product is firmly screwed and can withstand significant loads.

Features of installation to concrete

To work with a concrete surface, it is necessary to have two drills with different diameters.

  1. First, a drill is used that has a diameter that allows the head of the self-tapping screw to hide flush in the surface of the product. The drilling depth should be equal to the height of the screw head.
  2. After that, it is necessary to drill the hole with a drill with a smaller diameter.
  3. The marks on the concrete surface made through the holes on the surface of the tire are drilled with a hammer drill and a concrete drill. The diameter of the drill must match the diameter of the dowel, as a rule, the value is 6 mm.
  4. Then a dowel is inserted into the hole formed.
  5. The cornice is screwed to the ceiling with one self-tapping screw, it is leveled and marks are made, which drill and insert dowels into them similarly to the first hole.
  6. After that, the cornice is completely fixed.

On brackets to the wall

Brackets are special devices with which absolutely any cornice can be attached to the wall.

Most cornices are sold with additional parts, including a cornice that already has holes in it. But if they are not, then they are drilled out on their own. On the side adjacent to the wall, the hole diameter should be 1 mm larger than the bolt diameter. For a tighter fit of the corner to the surface, the drilled hole on the reverse side must be processed. If there is no hole on the surface to which the tire is directly attached, then you also need to drill it yourself.

On the ceiling of plasterboard, wood and adobe

Drywall is a special material and in order to keep the structure on such a ceiling, two methods are used:

  • The first method is possible only during installation, because it involves the use of an embedded wooden beam to which the structure is attached. The beam itself is screwed to the ceiling and does not go beyond the surface of the plasterboard material. In order for the structure to hold well, the dimensions of the beam must be greater than the dimensions of the cornice;
  • The second method allows you to attach the cornice using anchors that act on the principle of an anchor. The plank, intended for light textile fabrics, is fastened using dowels in the shape of a butterfly or an umbrella, which have the ability to open up, forming an additional support. For a stacked structure, it is necessary to drill deeper holes and use anchor bolts.

To attach the structure to a wooden ceiling, it is necessary to prepare self-tapping screws and make the correct markings. For heavy compositions, self-tapping screws are installed in 2 rows.

The adobe ceiling belongs to a loose type of material and in order to fix the cornice on the ceiling it is necessary to use long and thick dowels, coupled with a screw screw. This design, when screwed in, fills all the cavities, thereby ensuring a strong fastening of the eaves.

Fasten to stretch ceiling

There are two methods by which attaching a cornice to a stretch ceiling is not difficult. But both methods require preliminary planning, since in both cases a preliminary installation of a wooden beam is required. Let's consider them in more detail:

  • In the first case, the beam is mounted on the ceiling at the place of future installation at the same level as the canvas. Marks are made on the canvas at the location of the beam, according to which the eaves are mounted;
  • The second method is more original, but also more complicated. The canvas is not stretched over the entire surface area, but with a slight indent from the window opening, as a result of which a small niche is formed. Its width should not be less than the width of the cornice. The cornice itself is attached to the true ceiling. A special profile is attached to the timber next to the fixed profile. It is necessary to fix the stretch film and hide the beam.

If the ceiling film is already stretched, then you can attach the cornice only to the walls using brackets.

without drilling

Currently, it is possible to attach a cornice not only with the help of fasteners, but also with the help of liquid nails that can withstand a load of up to 80 kg per square centimeter.

  1. Before fixing the cornice, it is necessary to clean the ceiling surface from various contaminants (dust, paint, whitewash).
  2. Then the prepared area is carefully primed and leveled, and the surface of the eaves is degreased.
  3. Liquid nails are applied to the base of the panel in a zigzag pattern, after which the profile is pressed against the surface of the ceiling.
  4. In order to correct the design, you only need to gently move it in the required direction, without completely tearing it off the ceiling.
  5. The glue will set in 20 minutes, and will finally dry under all conditions after three days. After three days, you can hang curtains.

Installing the backlight

In order for the curtains to shine beautifully, you can install a special backlight. As a backlight, an LED strip mounted on a curtain is used. It sticks to any surface with an adhesive backing. On the curtain, the backlight is located either between the grooves or on the inside of the baguette strip. With this installation, the light coming from the tape is not blocked by curtains and other elements.

In order to install such a backlight, it is necessary to install a box in which the power supply unit with cables will be located even at the stage of repairing the premises. It mounts either on the wall or on the ceiling. The place for fasteners is selected in accordance with the location of the DC source.

You can learn more clearly the intricacies of attaching the LED strip to the ceiling cornice from the video.

How to put stubs?

There are two types of end caps used in rail type ceiling cornices. One type is needed to mask the self-tapping screws and is inserted after attaching the product to the ceiling. The second view is a detail that not only prevents the hooks from falling out of the groove, but also covers the cut end of the profile.

If hinged wooden cornices are more suitable for strict classical and lush interiors in the Baroque style, then plastic cornices attached to the ceiling will be an excellent choice for rooms with a modern modern design.

The ceiling cornice is good because it stands out less, thereby focusing attention on curtains and curtains, which can become a real decoration of any room.

In addition, hanging a ceiling cornice is quite simple, and the strength of its fastening is very high. By hanging the ceiling cornice correctly, you can forget about it until the next repair.

Complete set of ceiling cornices and tools necessary for their installation

When buying a ceiling cornice, it is necessary to check the completeness of its configuration, the main element of which is the profiled plastic element itself. Its upper side is flat, and the lower side has one, two or three grooves with profiled edges, to which hooks are attached, used to fix the curtains.

The main profile is available in sizes from 1.2 to 6 m in length. This allows you to create a cornice of any length, because you can either saw it off or put several elements together. In addition, you can also buy rotary elements - corners of 45 or 90 degrees, thanks to which you can form different figured shapes of cornices and curtains from curtains.

The scheme of fastening the ceiling cornice for curtains to the ceiling.

Additional elements in the kit can be special plugs that limit the movement of the hooks on which the curtains are hung. In addition, in some cases, wall mounting brackets may be needed, used when it is not possible by attaching it to the ceiling. And finally, the kit may also include such decorative elements as self-adhesive tapes that can be hung on the front plane of the main profile.

In order to properly hang the product itself, you need the simplest tools:

  • electric drill;
  • screws with dowels;
  • screwdriver or screwdriver;
  • pencil or marker;
  • hand hacksaw for metal.

How to hang a ceiling cornice

Hanging such a product is very simple, which is one of its main advantages. It is only necessary to observe a simple step-by-step manipulation.

First of all, it is necessary to decide on the layout of the cornice, on which the length of its main elements will also depend. If it's just a straight line across the window, it's very simple. It is necessary to measure the length and saw off the required size profile with a hacksaw for metal. When using pivoting elements against walls, an appropriate distance from the wall must be taken into account. But it happens that curtains or a curtain have to be hung not at the window, but in the middle of the rooms and not just in a straight line, but with turns and bends. In this case, a diagram is drawn up, the necessary elements are cut, and then each of them is mounted separately.

If the purchased profile already has mounting holes, then they are used for mounting. If the cornice is sold without holes, then they are drilled with a drill, taking into account that the screw head subsequently firmly holds the profile together with the entire mass of curtains. These holes will not be visible after the product is fully assembled, so you do not need to make them too distant from each other. On average, the distance between them should be about half a meter.

Next, attach the profile to the place where it is planned to hang it, and use a pencil or marker to mark the places where holes should be drilled for screwing in screws. After that, using a drill, holes are drilled in the ceiling, and plastic dowels are inserted into them.

Having again attached the profile to the place of the fastener, we screw in all the screws one by one. The flexibility of the plastic product is quite large, and it should not break or burst, but it is still better to support it and not abruptly let go of the not yet screwed part. This warning applies primarily to those who are engaged in the installation process alone. After the main profile is screwed, the rotary elements are attached to the ceiling in the same way, if necessary.

By running curtain hooks along special internal longitudinal holders, you can, if necessary, limit their movement with special plugs and limiters. The last element of the work is the decorative pasting of the plastic cornice with self-adhesive tape, which can be made under a tree or in any other color scheme chosen depending on the overall interior of the room.

After all the work on the installation of the cornice, you can hang curtains and curtains. The hooks on the ceiling cornices are quite convenient, and the curtains are attached to them quite simply, and the guide grooves are made in such a way that the curtains slide very easily and smoothly.

To date, there are many different models of cornices that are designed for any type of curtains, while being completely hidden from view under the curtains. The most popular models are made of plastic. Such cornices have a hollow tire inside and several working lines along which curtain clamps move. If you are going to install such a cornice model in your room, then first of all you will need to familiarize yourself with some recommendations in order to properly fix such a product. It is worth paying attention here that the product is made of plastic and will not be able to withstand excessively heavy curtains, so you will have to limit the decoration of the room to lighter and more airy fabrics. Similar products have some differences in design, namely: single-row cornices, two-row products, three-row and four-row. In addition to this difference, there is also a difference in the ability to attach this element: directly through the holes in the cornice itself, or on hangers or brackets.

plastic cornice

If you chose a plastic product as a holding element for curtains, then, first of all, you will need to take the exact dimensions on the ceiling wall where the product will be located. In addition to the size, as well as the appearance of the product, it is worth deciding how best to fix the cornice. It is desirable that this nuance be resolved even before choosing the most suitable model. Also, a lot depends on the curtains with which you decide to complete the interior decoration in your room.

To avoid any mistakes, it is advisable to use the following recommendations:

  • The fastening of the ceiling product to the wall located directly above the window opening should in no way interfere with the free opening of the sashes. To avoid any interference when opening the window, it is advisable to place the cornice at least 5 cm above the entire window opening.
  • Also, the curtains, which will later become a decoration of the window, should not create any difficulties with access to the window, in addition, they should not touch the open sash or the window sill. In this case, the cornice will need to be moved to the desired distance.

Also, it is worth noting that in the case of using a composition of curtains, it is necessary to take into account the distance to the very last curtain to the window.

How to choose the right material and design

First of all, you should pay attention to the fabric of the curtains. For dense and massive curtains, a cornice made of durable plastic or metal is suitable. It is most convenient to attach these structures to the selected wall through ready-made holes in the tire. Also, it is worth deciding in advance how many layers of curtains will be, as well as deciding on the presence of additional decorations, such as lambrequins. Based on this decision, it will be possible to determine the required number of working tracks on the eaves. If you decide to choose this accessory for a stretch ceiling, then it would be best to abandon a large number of working tunnels.

To fix the cornice on the ceiling wall, first of all, it is necessary to cut the tire of the required length. It all depends on which option you choose: straight, which will require special plugs, or rounded, with this option, you need to use additional rounded parts. Next, you will need to drill holes for the fasteners. On the front side, the cornice is drilled with a thicker drill so that you can hide the screw heads inside the structure. In this case, it is worth paying attention that the heavier the curtains will be hung, the more holes will be required to fasten the structure. After that, it is necessary to attach the cornice to the ceiling wall so that the axes of the window opening and the cornice rail are symmetrical. Next, you can attach the design. It is important to note that when using wide structures with several tracks, it is desirable that the fastening is done through two rows of holes.

Mounting options for a cornice with a stretch ceiling

If you decide to attach the finished cornice to the stretch ceiling, then it is advisable to follow the following sequence in your actions:

  • To begin with, a beam is mounted to a clean concrete ceiling covering, with a thickness equal to the distance from above to the tension web.
  • Further, in the places where the eaves are attached to the timber, it is necessary to make special holes in the tension fabric, and then glue special rings here.
  • Then, the structure is fastened through the previously prepared holes.

Also, there is another way to fix such a design. In this case, the canvas is stretched to the bar, and the cornice itself is mounted next directly to the concrete.

As you can see, the answer to the question: how to fix the ceiling cornice is quite simple, and you do not need to make titanic efforts. Everything is possible at home, with only the necessary tools and the necessary amount of free time. In conclusion, it is worth noting that the work is quite simple, but responsible, as it requires accuracy and accuracy from you, since when installing the cornice to the stretch ceiling, any mistakes are unacceptable and will cost you quite a lot. In addition, do not forget that the curtains play the final role in shaping the overall style in the room, so a lot depends on the correct installation of the cornice.

Curtains flow temptingly not only in photographs in magazines. Delicate organza or heavy velvet will delightfully change your interior if you hang them correctly. The main condition for creating elegant windows is the competent installation of curtain rails. After studying the advice of professionals on how to fix the ceiling cornice and what nuances should be taken into account in the process of work, you can safely turn into a creator of home beauty.

How to attach a curtain to a ceiling

Preparatory work

A huge range of different products (plastic, metal, wood) is divided into three large groups:

  • with mounting on suspensions;
  • with brackets provided for fastening;
  • with mounting holes.

The last option is justifiably considered the most difficult for self-repair, and we will study its stages in detail. In other cases, the work proceeds according to the same scenario.

Sawing only with a hacksaw with sharp teeth: a blunt tool will ruin the surface

Let's get the tools ready. You will need a few:

  • hacksaw for metal;
  • perforator;
  • self-tapping screws, dowels;
  • drill.

Now let's resize. First, decide on the location and size of the structure. Curtains will fall smoothly if the curtain is 15-20 centimeters from the wall. It is easy to calculate the length of the bar: if the window is single, add 40 centimeters to the width of the frame, with two windows located side by side, a 30-centimeter allowance is enough. Saw off the excess ends with a sharply sharpened hacksaw.

Main part

There are three main tasks before you: make neat holes, correctly mark the location of the cornice and mount it securely. Consider how to attach a ceiling cornice to a concrete ceiling - a difficult surface to work on.

  • Drilling holes

Mark the middle of the crossbar and form the first hole. Do not be lazy and take note of the trick of repair specialists: arm yourself with a double drill or use two drills. With the first, wide tool, we form a circle on the front side of the structure. Equal to the diameter of the self-tapping screw - the hole should be equal to it or slightly larger in size. Work slowly: as soon as there is enough depth for the dowel head to "drown", change the drill to a thin one and finish the job.

Curtains made of heavy materials will not sag if the holes on the eaves are frequent and uniform

In the same way, with inspiration, create holes along the entire length of the curtain. Their number does not depend on your desire to work, but on the width of the cornice and the type of curtains. Dense heavy fabric requires frequent holes - every 15-20 centimeters, light tulle sways beautifully on the crossbar with rare fasteners - about half a meter. If the curtain bar is massive or very wide, it is advisable to make two rows of circles.

Attention! The cornice will not move away from the ceiling and will not sag under the weight of the curtains if the holes are drilled evenly, strictly at regular intervals.

  • Marking and fastening

Before attaching the cornice to the ceiling, you need to outline the place for the dowels. To do this, we first temporarily fit our design. Find the center point for future support and align it with the center of the crossbar. Using a drill with a diameter of 5-6 mm and a perforator, make a hole. Its depth is equal to the length of the dowel, on which you will fasten the cornice for a short time.

Now your eyes should be sharper than ever, and your movements confident and true. Through the holes you made on the bar, draw marks on the ceiling. Remove the cornice and deepen your art with a perforator so that the dowel-nails fully enter them in the future - fixing the structure will be the last stage of the work.

In order for the cornice to lay flat on the surface, achieve absolute alignment of the holes with the markings on the ceiling

Stretch ceiling work

It is impossible to mount the cornice directly on such a surface, it is necessary to provide it with a strong support. Her role will be perfectly played by an ordinary timber, if you screw it to the ceiling as a mortgage. Please note that its dimensions (width and length) must exceed the dimensions of the crossbar. When installing the film, rings will be glued to the mortgages at the fastening points so that the canvas does not tear, holes will be burned and the curtain will be attached to the ceiling through them.

Tips on how to properly attach a ceiling cornice to a PVC ceiling are also suitable for a drywall surface.

The scheme will help to understand the process of attaching curtains to a stretch ceiling.

Fasten the curtain to the wall

The situation seems dead-end when the repair is already completed, and there is nowhere to hang the curtain: they simply forgot about the crossbar in the heat of construction work. Is it possible and how to attach the ceiling cornice to the wall?

We offer two suitable options to choose from:

  1. Install a beam under the ceiling surface and fix the curtain on it.
  2. Attach the brackets to the wall, and then screw the bar to them with self-tapping screws.

Video instructions: installing a plastic cornice in the ceiling

  • 1 Material
  • 2 Installation
  • 3 Markup and materials
  • 4 Mounting
  • 5 Outcome
  • Finally, the renovation has come to an end, and you can start decorating the rooms. For example, put furniture, install lamps, put a carpet on the floor and, of course, hang curtains. To do the latter, you need to have an idea of how to mount the ceiling cornice, because today there are fewer and fewer models that are mounted on the wall.

    If we talk about the advantages of these structures, we should highlight:

    • they look more harmonious;
    • with their help you fix the eaves to the ceiling;
    • ideal solution for apartments with a ceiling height of 2.5-2.6 meters;
    • as for curtains, they can withstand a lot of weight, not to mention tulle and curtains;
    • combine low cost and high quality;
    • despite the simplicity of appearance, they can be covered with textiles.

    Material

    It is clear that in order to securely fasten the cornice to the ceiling, you will need to make its high-quality installation. But we must not forget that tulle and curtains that will hang on it play an important role. After all, a fully installed design should not interfere with your use of the window.

    Therefore, the cornice should be placed 5 cm above the window so that the curtains do not go around the window sill and the battery.

    If you have several rows of curtains hanging, then you have to start measuring from the layer that is located closer to the window. Usually the length of the cornice includes the length of the window plus 30-40 cm on the sides. You can adjust it, taking into account the width, density and characteristics of the curtains.

    The length of the cornice should allow you to open the window opening with the curtains fully open, and if you have curtains made of thick fabric, then take a design with a longer length.

    When two windows are located side by side, the length of the cornice should overlap their total length + 30 cm on the sides. The number of tracks in the cornice should correspond to the number of layers of fabric. For example, if you plan to hang tulle, curtains and lambrequins, then use a three-row ceiling cornice.

    To make windows open without problems, attach a curtain rod at a distance of 10 or 15 cm from the wall.

    Installation

    As a rule, ceiling cornices are made of PVC. This is a hollow design that has several lines. Despite the fact that ceiling cornices can withstand a lot of weight, you still have to not experiment with them by hanging curtains that are too heavy on them.

    As for the methods of fastening the eaves, then for this they are used:

    • special suspensions;
    • directly openings on the structure;
    • brackets.

    Markup and materials

    Now you can move on to how to fix the ceiling cornice.

    First you have to mark the mounting points on the ceiling. Given the location of the structure relative to the center of the window and the wall, do not forget that the curtains should not be located closer than 5 cm to the window sill and window handles. distance to the ends of the product.

    Taking into account the markings, attach brackets or a frame to the ceiling, and mark the holes for further fasteners. Drill appropriate holes in the ceiling with a drill. Their diameter and depth must correspond to the type of fasteners that come with the product.

    Basically, these are self-tapping screws (screws), for which wooden (plastic) plugs are used.

    Moreover, plastic is now used more often, since it is cheaper and easier to work with. Plugs are hammered into the holes with a hammer. Next, use self-tapping screws to install the eaves.

    If in doubt about the details that should be used to fasten the cornices, then carefully read the instructions. The manufacturer clearly stipulates this for each specific product.

    In addition, you can use anchors with internal threads.

    This is especially true if you plan to place heavy curtains (curtains) on the ceiling cornices, which means that you will have to securely and firmly attach the structure to the ceiling. For this, the anchor is placed in an already drilled hole of the desired diameter. When you hit the center punch, the anchor will split right there.

    Mounting

    It remains to consider the options for attaching the cornice so that you can choose the one that best suits your situation. The fact is that there are 5 options for attaching ceiling cornices:

    1. For holes. First, cut off the desired length of the cornice, if the model you bought does not match the size of the window opening. To do this, mark the cut line with a square, and then cut off the excess part with a sharp construction (clerical) knife or hacksaw. You can start assembling.

    If there are already holes on the structure, then simply mark on the ceiling to drill holes. If they are not on the tire, then use a drill to make them yourself using drills of different diameters. Moreover, for the front side, use a larger drill in diameter, which corresponds to the size of the plastic plug.

    The step between the holes should be symmetrical along the length of the product and is determined by the weight of the curtains.

    Put a mark in the central hole, while placing the cornice as it will hang. Using a puncher, drill one hole in the ceiling. It is better to use a limiter so that it is the desired length.

    Insert a dowel into it and fix the cornice on one screw. After that, marking other holes, methodically complete the fastening of the structure. And to ensure maximum reliability of fastening the ceiling cornice, you make holes in two rows.

    1. For brackets. This option is even more simple, because the holes are already in the ceiling eaves. First you have to assemble the structure, then attach it to the ceiling and make marks. Using a perforator, make holes in the surface of the ceiling, where you then place the dowels. It remains only to attach the eaves to secure it with screws.

    On a stretch ceiling. If you have a similar ceiling installed, then you can attach a ceiling cornice to it as follows:

    • To begin with, you make a base from a bar that has the width and length of the product, but the thickness is 1-2 mm less than the distance from the ceiling and tension material.
    • Fasten the beam with dowels to the ceiling. When fixing the eaves with self-tapping screws, you will have to attach rings to the material so as not to damage it.
    • You just need to stretch the material and assemble the structure.

    In a room where a stretch ceiling has already been installed, the ceiling cornice must be fixed to the brackets that are already installed on the walls.

    3. On the plasterboard ceiling. In this case, you better not hang heavy curtains on the structure.

    It is worth giving preference to tulle, as well as a lighter ceiling cornice. Otherwise, even before installing drywall, you will have to provide for structural reinforcement, that is, attach mortgages in this place. And if at this moment you already have a cornice on your hands, then this will help you immediately take into account the thickness of the timber and the width of the mortgages.

    Instead of self-tapping screws and screws, you will need special butterfly dowels. Their peculiarity is that they wedged from the inside of the drywall. As for the load, they can withstand no more than 5 kg.

    1. On the wall. Fixing the cornice to the wall is used if you did not provide for the installation of the cornice on the ceiling surface during the repair period. That is, you have to place it on the wall.

    For this you will use brackets. Install a wooden beam under the ceiling, to which the structure will be mounted. In the future, you have to take care of its appropriate decoration.

    1. For glue. If you do not want to use a puncher or you simply do not have one, then the eaves are fastened with liquid nails. As written in the instructions, they can easily withstand a load of 80 kg / cm 2.

    You again have to assemble the structure and clean the surface of the ceiling. For a more secure fit, remove whitewash, old paint, and other finishing materials. The ceiling must be smooth and primed, and the base of the ceiling cornice must be dry and fat-free.

    Apply liquid nails in the form of a snake on the product, and then press it tightly to the ceiling. If you need to adjust the cornice, then just move it, but do not tear it off the ceiling. The glue will set within 20 minutes, but it will completely dry in 2-3 days.

    Outcome

    Now you know how the cornice is attached to the wall or other surface, which will allow you to properly install the cornice on any ceiling in the room.

    You have seen that there is nothing complicated in this, especially if everything is thought out in advance. Additionally, you can take an assistant to help you attach the structure. Good luck in your endeavors!
