Decorative ceramic plates on the wall are now gaining new popularity. This kind of decor is becoming more and more common among designers and in fashionable interiors!

How to beautifully place and hang souvenir plates on the wall:

  • 5 ready-made layouts and rules for beautiful hanging!
  • 6 ways to make a mount for ceramic plates do it yourself or how to use it wall holders and hooks

You won’t need much effort to attach such a souvenir to the walls, but a spectacular and original result is guaranteed!

But no matter which of these decorating methods you choose, everyone will then have to complete the following process - attach the plates to the wall. Here, too, there are several methods for securing and attaching plates to the wall:

How to hang a plate on the wall without nails

The simplest fastening method that does not require nails, which does not even require you to know how to drill walls, is to buy it at a stationery store. special double-sided Velcro.

  • if the plate is small, just stick one piece of Velcro on it and attach it to the wall,
  • If bigger size- a few on a plate.

Remember that in this method you need to take into account the weight of the plate if you want it to remain intact.

The second method does not require nails:

  1. We glue any base to the plate - it can be a block of wood or a piece of six tin can. There is only one condition: it must be solid, hold its shape and not become limp from the glue.
  2. We are waiting for our base to dry on the plate.
  3. And then we attach the base with the plate with glue directly to the wall.

The base in this case improves the adhesion of the smooth plate to the wall. In addition, many plates are not completely flat, which makes gluing them difficult. That's why they use the base.

What glue is better to use? Liquid nails or cold welding glue work well.

DIY wall plate holder

By using cold welding Glue a ribbon to the back of the plate and use it to hang the plate on a nail. If you don't like how the mount on the back of the plate looks, you can decorate it. Here, of course, you will have to make holes in the wall. But beauty requires sacrifice.

If you don’t have any special cold welding at home, you can use regular superglue.

Glue the ribbon to the plate, and stick a circle (square, or whatever you prefer) of paper on top to secure the ribbon and make the structure more reliable.

Fastening the plate using electrical tape or adhesive tape

If you have a light ceramic plate and have electrical tape or adhesive tape on hand, you can use that too. When you attach the tape, keep in mind that its end must be quite long in order to glue it generously along the entire length, in order to prevent the tape from slipping out from under the tape.

Fastening with paper clip, wire and hairpin

You can also make a circle-mount from a regular olive lid, for example. Or take a wire or a hairpin

  1. You can use a gun with silicone rods. The main thing is to warm it up well and quickly attach the wire or pin to the plate.
  2. In all these ways for best result need with started degreasing the back surface of the plate, you can even scratch it a little so that the adhesive materials do not come off and hold the fasteners securely.

Ready-made hooks for ceramic plates on the wall

You can also use special stand mounts that are attached to the wall, and a plate or several are placed in them, depending on the size of the stand.

There are 2 types of such holders:

  1. metal on a spring basis,
  2. self-adhesive circles with loops.

In stores for handmade products or specialized painting workshops, they sell special self-adhesive circles with loops that can be attached to a plate. Or fastenings of the same type, but requiring the application of superglue to attach to the surface of the plate.

How to choose a purchased wall mount? Only by the weight of the plate: if the plate is massive, then the best option- on a spring, if the plate is small, then take a self-adhesive one.

The process of installing plates to the wall

Before attaching the plates to the wall, we highly recommend making a paper mockup first. This is especially true if you use nails for fastening. Yes, even without nail fastening - if the plates are not glued correctly, it will also leave an unsightly blemish on the wall.

  1. Place the plates on the paper, trace them and cut them out. This will give you exact diameter dishes
  2. We lay out the layouts on the wall.
  3. We secure them assembly adhesive tape for painting— it leaves no marks on paint or wallpaper.
  4. We outline with chalk or a pencil, which can be easily removed from the wall.

How to beautifully display a decorative plate

You can place and hang plates on the wall in different ways, and you need to take into account the interior of the room you want to decorate. We offer several ideas to help you make your choice:

Layout of souvenir plates

Already have ready-made diagrams how to hang plates on the wall - look and repeat. Also, if you have a large object in the center, such as a beautiful mirror or a painting, then you can decorate it beautifully with the help of plates.

Rules for attaching ceramic plates

Chaotic order

If you like “creative chaos” and don’t like strict lines, then the easiest way is to hang plates different sizes in a chaotic order.

  • They can be one color scheme or with drawings(nature, for example).
  • The plates do not have to be round, you can also use oval or square.

Magnets

When we travel, we usually bring magnets for the refrigerator as memories of the cities and countries we visited. But this won’t surprise anyone. Recently, I began to notice that in souvenir shops you can buy not only magnets and cups, but also plates with images of the sights of the city you are visiting. So you can start bringing them in and hanging them on the wall. This way, you can immerse yourself in pleasant memories without the temptation to eat something from the refrigerator.

"Plate puzzles"

There are special decorative plates, each individual plate shows part of the design. Thus, hanging all the plates on the wall, you get one complete picture"plate puzzles"

Geometry

Those who like orderliness and symmetry can hang plates in lines or geometric shapes . Smooth lines of plates of the same size, or a gradual transition from the smallest plate to the largest. You can make a circle, oval or square from plates around a mirror or picture.

Can form shapes from plates: flower, sun, waves or something more abstract.

Ideas for placing plates in the kitchen and living room

Where would such plates look appropriate? First of all, this is an excellent decor for the kitchen or dining area. Also pay attention to how they look harmonious in the living room, for example above the sofa or near large mirror. If allowed square meters, then you can also decorate the hallway or the wall in the bathroom with plates.

Greetings!

Today I have a small but useful post that will help solve the issue of “fathers and sons” - how to cover an entire room with posters without ruining the wallpaper)).

Even when I was at school, it seemed incredibly beautiful to me to cut out photographs of actresses and singers from magazines, and then “decorate” all the walls in the room with them 😉

But my mother, oddly enough)), categorically objected - it’s ugly... bad taste... it’s a pity for the wallpaper... True, for a short time before the renovation, the dream was realized - they no longer spared the wallpaper.

History repeats itself, my girls want to “beautify” in the same way, but with the help of modern posters and posters, and I myself would be happy to hang up children’s drawings. But I, just like my mother before, feel sorry for the wallpaper, which, due to the constant “change of idols,” will be covered with holes from buttons, greasy stains from plasticine or pieces of adhesive tape that cannot be peeled off - there are options to choose from...

That’s why today’s article is about how to hang a poster on the wall without damaging the wallpaper.

Not long ago, we ordered the book “Atlas of the World” for our daughter from our favorite online bookstore, which came with a world map. The child happily said “let’s hang it on the wall”, I thought “that would be nice”, but then I imagined - buttons, greasy spots, wallpaper torn off with tape... The map remained in the book.

But you can’t discourage a child’s interest because of your pragmatic concepts. Therefore, the question of how to hang a world map on the wall without damaging the wallpaper periodically tormented me and I was about to pin it with thin sewing pins, but then I came across another option.

While reading Anna Gavalda’s book “A Consolation Game of Pétanque” () which, due to the specifics of the work of the main character, architect Charles, is full of “architectural” terms, I learned that everything has long been invented, at least abroad and it has the name “PATAFIX” - Patafix.

These are cute adhesive pads that have a chewing gum-like consistency.

Designed for attaching posters, posters, paper and small items on the wall and more. There are images on the packaging showing the various capabilities of Patafix.

It's very easy to use. Having separated one small square (I cut it with scissors), knead it in our hands and flatten it. Ready.

Since I was using Patafix for the first time, I initially decided to test it somewhere out of sight (in case there were stains). The place where we will glue the patafix is circled. The whole procedure took a few minutes.

A few days later I tested the operation of Patafix. Despite the fact that the poster was near hot battery nothing melted, fell off, or stained. Excellent result.

The only thing is that when peeling off the patafix from the wallpaper, do not do it abruptly so as not to damage it; if there are roughnesses and convex patterns on the wallpaper, then it sticks to them quite tightly.

The question of how to hang a world map on a wall without nails and other “traumatic” devices has disappeared by itself - take it and hang it 😉

Despite the fact that our card, to be honest, doesn’t really harmonize with the wallpaper 😉 I happily left it in place - the child is happy, and I know for sure that at any time it can be removed and replaced with something more suitable .

Additional advantages of patafix pads:

  • reusable - can be re-glued from one place to another;
  • stick to almost any surface - wallpaper, wood, metal, glass;
  • They can be used to attach not only paper, but also plastic, light metal products and even balloons));
  • passed dermatological control.

Rating: 5+/5.

Price: about $5.

Where to buy Patafix: bought on eBay. But I think it will be much easier for residents of large cities to buy them; Patafix is found in hardware stores.

Update: For those who cannot find Patafix in their cities like we do, I found an online store that sells it. Link to purchase Patafix on Ozon.ru, price $2.46. I’ve been buying goods there for quite a long time, but either there was no Patafix before, or I didn’t pay attention...))

Beauty and comfort for your home :)

Today I made a selection DESIGN IDEAS interior with ordinary wall frames with photos or drawings and several MOUNTING IDEAS frames to the wall. That is, today we will study wall decor in our house.

I will tell….

1. HOW TO POSITION THE FRAMES ON THE WALL (so that they are in harmony with each other and with the interior as a whole)

2. OPTIONS MOUNTINGS FRAME (how to hang it with screws - how to attach it WITHOUT drilling holes in the wall)

3. PLOT IDEAS that can be depicted inside the frames

So let's get started...

HOW TO COMBINE frames on the walls.

Linear arrangement of frames on the wall.

The easiest way to hang frames on the wall is to place them IN ONE HORIZONTAL LINE. As a rule, this is done with frames of the same size and the same style of graphics framed by them.

Clear rows of paintings on the wall.

If the frames are the same size and format, they can be arranged in clear, regular rows resembling squares rubik's cube. This wall decoration with frames is reminiscent of colorful carpet.

By the way if there are not many frames and they are quite small, you can place them in the same order as CROSSWORD BOXES... a horizontal line... a vertical line... with them crossed.

...or place it in a checkerboard pattern...

The chaos of frames is inside a clear form.

And here we see that all the frames are clearly located INSIDE THE INVISIBLE BORDERS in the shape of a rectangle.

How to bring such options to life - a step-by-step guide...

In the first case -

  1. We buy several frames- and then we lay them out ON THE CARPET so that their area paved with frames has the correct RECTANGULAR SHAPE.
  2. Remember this form(click on the camera) and don’t remove it from the carpet yet...
  3. We measure the height and width of the GENERAL RECTANGLE (the one that turned out as a result of laying out the frames) - and then on the wall in small draw the contours of the same rectangle(the chalk can then be easily wiped off with a cloth)
  4. Apply one by one to the area painted on the wall each of the frames - and mark with a pencil the very place where you need to drive in a nail to attach the frame (exactly opposite the frame hole for hanging on a nail). Plus - we make sure to mark the boundary of the frame on the wall (so that we can then place the next frame next to this boundary)
  5. And so we bring each frame to the place where it should hang, and mark with a pencil on the wall the place where the screw will be inserted.
  6. When all the marks for all the nails have been transferred, all that remains is to drill all the holes, screw in the screws and hang the frames on the wall.

In the second case (see second photo above) - everything is the same - only it’s simpler - since we use frames of the same size...

A large picture and small frames on the wall.

I’ll tell you right away how to decorate a wall with frames like this.

  1. At first training on the carpet: put on the floor big picture, and then we lay out smaller frames AROUND IT. When the composition laid out on the floor suits us more or less, take pictures of her.
  2. And now that the first idea is saved in the memory of our camera, let’s try to expand it again, but in a different way, small pictures around the big one - and again we photograph this second option of mixing pictures.
  3. And then we flip through the photos in the camera and choose the best from photographed options for the location of frames relative to each other.
  4. And now you can mount the frames on the wall, CONSULTING with the selected sample in the memory of the camera, first we hang a large picture on the wall in the intended place, and then small ones.

Or…

On the spot central big picture maybe a CLOCK FACE….

How make your own designer watches– I will definitely tell you and show you in pictures in a separate article.

Diamond-shaped pile of photo frames.

And here the frames are placed chaotically in the form of a cloud, in shape close to Rhombus. Photographs or pictures can have a variety of shapes, sizes and even different shades colors.

Chaotic filling of the entire wall with frames.

In this option for decorating a wall with frames, the frames are selected based on the color of the frame itself and the internal content of the graphics.

They can be different in shape, according to the degree of color saturation, but they should resonate with each other and the rest of the interior elements.

Frames with a combination of wall stickers and appliques.

Nowadays there are a lot of stencils for wall decoration on sale - everything is already drawn there, all you have to do is stick on the plot you have chosen...

It is very convenient to combine such a wall applique with frames on the wall...

Well, now let's figure out how to attach the frames to the wall...

HOW TO ATTACH frames to the wall...

3 ways

(with holes and without holes)

Of course, we all love frames... but... we don’t like to spoil the walls...

What to do?

You can just say to yourself - so what, if there will be a hole in the wall... these photos will still hang here for many years - delighting all loved ones and guests... And when I want to change the design, I’ll just cover these holes with putty and put up new wallpaper... once If the design changes then the wallpaper will be new - and that means there won’t be any holes...

Or…

How to hang several frames on one nail.

You can make minimal holes in the wall and hang several paintings at once ON ONE “NAIL”...

For example, like this... Great option attaching frames to the wall.

Or like this... such FRAME MODULES can be ordered in online stores in the home decor department.

We attach frames to the walls - with panels or cables.

Or here’s another option to hang a maximum of pictures with a minimum of holes in the wall...

Option one - we do one thing wooden panel– and we screw several paintings onto it – and then we hang this panel with 2-4 screws to the wall.

Option two – we stretch the cables along the entire wall and attach as many frames as we like to them.

How to attach a frame WITHOUT DRILLING holes in the wall...

We attach the frames to the wall using an adhesive fastener...

There is a special adhesive fastener on sale - for gluing frames... you can buy it in construction stores or search on the Internet... Here's what it looks like and what it's called...

One half clasp mounted on the wall, and the other half on the frame. If necessary, you can remove the frame by unhooking the frame half of the fastener from the wall half.

Then, if desired, you can remove the wall half of the adhesive fastener from the wall - and there will be no trace left.

To make it clear how it works... here I downloaded the instructions... it says that the tape ideally attaches the frame to painted walls, wooden, plastered (even), to wallpaper, etc. vinyl (unless they have a very textured structure).

and instructions on how to remove these adhesive mounts from the wall WITHOUT A TRACE...

We continue the topic of attaching frames to the wall... another simple way...

Making narrow shelves on the wall for frames

Often in living rooms there are special long narrow shelves above the sofas. Decorative interior tinsel and aesthetic frames with photos or graphics are placed on them, supporting the style of the overall interior.

Placing frames on the corners of the walls.

But this is a method with a very unusual and interesting approach to placing frames. If you don’t find such frames on sale, you can make them yourself or order them from a furniture manufacturing company. Such a simple design order will be easy to complete for any specialist in the manufacture of cabinet furniture.

There are corners and jambs in every house - and so great idea find a useful use for them...

So... we have already figured out how to arrange the frames...

And now it's time to find out... WHAT EXACTLY can be depicted within...

And what could be INSIDE THE FRAMEWORK?

What stories/in what style?

Now let's talk about the different themes of the contents of our frames. These can be photographs, abstract paintings, real works of oil or watercolor painting, and much more, let's look at the most successful options.

Aged photographs in modest frames.

You can place aged black and white or brown-white photos.

By the way, photo frames look very interesting elongated shapes(as in the photo below).

You can age existing color frames - this is done with a few clicks in Photoshop. If you don’t know how to do it yourself, ask some photographers you know.

Black and white graphics in ascetic frames.

Most often this black and white photographs , sometimes it's graphic arts black ink or even engraving prints in black tones.

You can hang black and white paintings on the wall in strict graphic order or in the lung chaotic run.

Decorating the walls with frames with florists.

In old times healers replaced dried herbariums with medicinal herbs. This theme is often used in modern interiors.

  • These could be sketches of grass and flowers with a simple black pencil.
  • Or how would cut out from textbooks pictures with herbs signed in Latin.

You can MAKE such a selection of paintings YOURSELF in one of two simple ways.

Method one: collect and dry real herbs, and then place them between the frame and the glass.

Method two: use the plant as engraving print, that is, apply paint to the plant and press it to a sheet of paper to obtain its graphic imprint.

Method three– get carried away with embroidery – and embroider flowers on canvas

As an option, you can find flowers already embroidered on fabric (for example, on our grandmothers' sofa covers) – and insert a piece of such a “blooming” cover fabric into the frame.

Frames with a repeating plot.

Your paintings decorating the wall may contain photographs or paintings of ONE CYCLE.

  • You can take a photo of your wonderful weekend.
  • Or capture IN DIFFERENT angles THE SAME scenery.
  • Or take a photo one landscape from the same photo point, but in different weather or in different time of the year.

Here you see an example of three photographic paintings with children playing, photographed on the same day. Or here you go original idea with a photo selection capturing the water surface of the boundless sea - such photo cycles can be brought with summer holiday on the sea. This could be a photo cycle with shells or palm trees, or even a hotel interior.

Frames with a fragmented plot.

Here one photograph is divided into elements and each element is inserted into its own frame...

How to do this at home yourself - read in a special article - WHERE I WILL TELL AND SHOW how split the photo into several frames...

Wallpaper in frames.

Why paint, or look for decent scenes that will fit into the interior of the room, if everything you need can be found in the department of the store with ordinary wallpaper?

Or you can fill empty frames with the remains of wallpaper after gluing other rooms; you can ask neighbors or friends for different textured and multi-colored pieces of old wallpaper or wallpaper left over after gluing. Or, in the gift wrapping department, find beautiful wrapping paper with patterns and insert it into frames.

Framing the invisible... empty frames in the interior.

Oddly enough, but this technique looks very nice as on plain ones wallpaper tah and on the wallpaper with large graphics . In the latter case, empty frames can be positioned so that they serve as a natural frame already existing on the wallpaper of the picture.

Wow - white wallpaper!... Let's paint. Drawn frames.

You can make frames for the wall yourself just draw.

Your children will really like this option if they are already old enough to take the task of interior decoration seriously. Older kids will really enjoy coming up with the design and placement of their hand-drawn frames, while younger kids will love painting the frames in all the colors of the rainbow and even drawing a cute portrait of mommy inside.

Well, that’s all for today... phew... it’s a big article - but all the information is in one place...

I really hope that you have new ideas for decorating your home.
Comfort and warmth of home to you...

There are situations when you really need to hang a picture on the wall without nails or drilling: for example, the apartment is rented, you don’t want to spoil the wall with holes, bother the neighbors, or your husband is simply not at home. It is then that very simple and effective ways that will help you hang a picture, panel, poster or photograph on the wall without using a drill. Choose which one you like best!

1. How to hang a picture on the wall without drilling the wall: a paper clip or a coat hook

If you have wallpaper on your wall, make a small horizontal cut in it, fill it with superglue and place a paper clip, bent into a hook or a regular coat hook, and then cover the cut with wallpaper. Step by step instructions you can read by “implanting” a paper clip into the wallpaper .

2. Button

This method is similar to the previous one. Here, too, the base itself is “hidden under the wallpaper” and glued, and the protruding part acts as a nail on which you can hang a not very heavy picture. In the video below you can learn how to effectively hide the base of a button behind wallpaper.

3. Spider hook

IN hardware store you can purchase a special device called a “spider hook”: o but has four pointed ends, which are easily attached to the wall with a hammer and leave practically no marks on it.This hook holds securelyon any wall, you can hang a picture or frame weighing up to 2 kg on it.

4. Needle

Another way to place light paintings is to stick a sewing needle into the wall. For example, you can carefully drive it into the wallpaper at an angle tailor's pin with head. Another option: break off the eye of a sewing needle with pliers and simply hammer it into the wall with the sharp end. This way, the hole in the wall is small and invisible, unlike nails or screws. At the same time, withama needle, steel and durable, holds the frame securely.

5. Double-sided tape

This method is suitable for walls with thin paper wallpaper or plasterboard partitions. Just stick a regular one on the edges of the frame Double-sided tape and attach it to the wall. True, the disadvantage of this method is that the tape can leave marks on the wall; to prevent this from happening, it is recommended to keep the tape under glob 90 degrees in relation to the wall when removing the painting.

6. Command Velcro

The special technology of Command Velcro allows you to glue them to almost any surface and easily hang pictures weighing up to 2 kg on them. The advantage of this brand of Velcro is that it can be easily removed without damaging the walls. They sold as a set of several strips: one strip is glued to the frame, the other to the wall. The more stripes, the heavier the painting can be.

7. Liquid nails

Liquid nails are special glue, which reliably connects surfaces. Just apply to reverse side frames with liquid nails in small dots (if the picture is heavy, you can coat the entire frame). Then press the painting flat against the wall surface and hold for a few seconds.

8. Polymer glue

Polymer glue is convenient because it does not leave greasy marks behind. The principle is the same as with liquid nails: glue a heavy picture around the entire perimeter, and a light one only along the edges. For better adhesion to the surface, the frame needs to be pressed firmly and even left for a day, propped up with something.

9. Wine cork

The wine cork is cut into circles approximately 1 cm thick and glued to the wall with quick-drying glue (Moment glue or BF-2). After the glue dries, a nail is stuck into this cork. small size, on which the picture is hung.
