How to enter a university after passing the Unified State Exam. Certificate from a medical institution. Is a prestigious university always the best choice?

Hello everyone!

Now I will mercilessly reveal tricks that will help you get into a university (higher education institution), and even on a budget. Why do I have the right to write about this topic? Because (1) I have been working at this very university for more than 7 years, and (2) I have worked directly in the admissions committee more than once. Through this, I have accumulated many tricks on how to enter a university.

IN By the way, we have already revealed the secrets of getting through targeted admission on a budget. So read that article first. And now only tricks.

Trick one: in 2015, you can apply to five different universities in any three areas. Thus, an applicant can submit documents for 15 areas (specialties) of training. There are practically no specialties now. Therefore, the word “specialty” was replaced with the word “direction”. What opportunities does all this beauty open up? Amazing.

Suppose you have already chosen a university and a direction, a profession, and who you want to study for. Note how prestigious this university is in the city in which it is located. If it is outside the top three, and there are budget places there, remember: everyone who submitted an application with high scores will most likely not submit original certificates there. They will most likely take a risk and apply to more prestigious universities. Therefore, half of the candidates for a budget position can be safely eliminated.

That is, feel free to submit the original of your certificate if (1) the university is not one of the top three in the city.

How to determine whether a university is prestigious or not? Very simple. The most popular are universities. Next come academies and then institutes. So if you are entering the academy on a budget and have fairly high scores, then don’t fuss or take risks by submitting the original to the university. Apply to the academy: free higher education has never hurt anyone.

The second trick is how to enter a university: everyone strives to go to universities in the capital. That is, all the guys who scored 270 points on the Unified State Exam are heading to the capital. Be smarter and wiser. Why do you need a capital university? To pay 20,000 for a hostel, even if you're lucky enough to get by on a budget? Excuse me. The Unified State Exam system allows you to submit documents to any university in the country.

Choose Novosibirsk: there are decent scientific personnel there and the admission conditions are softer if you have a sufficient number of points. Remember, now many universities simply change their name to seem more prestigious. For example, recently some Kolomna Institute was renamed Moscow University or something like that. Missed it?

Trick three. If you have not passed the budget and your parents are not averse to financing your higher education, or maybe you yourself, then be vigilant! If they tell you that their education is almost free, only about 50,000 a year, they want to deceive you. The fact is that prices for education in all state universities are set by the state.

This year it set the minimum amount of tuition at universities at about 80,000 rubles per year. A university that offers you to study “almost free” probably simply has not passed licensing or accreditation. And probably cannot legally issue diplomas. To check all this, just ask the admissions committee a question: has your university passed licensing and accreditation?

It happens that not the entire university has not passed accreditation, but several areas, and then the faculty that has these areas does not have the right to issue diplomas until it is accredited again. Therefore, be careful and ask awkward and unexpected questions directly to the admissions committee members when submitting documents.

Trick four, how to enter a university: all those who did not pass the budget in the capital will return to those universities where they passed based on their Unified State Exam scores. It even happened that an hour before the end of the deadline for submitting originals, a wild queue grew and the guys thought, where should they submit their documents? Where is better?

Trick number five, how to get into university: the answer to the question “Where is better”? Doesn't make sense at all. Better in what? If you compare universities that you got into based on budget scores, then compare them based on measurable indicators: image, fame, where exactly can you get a job after university, does this university have agreements on internships at enterprises? Will the university provide you with a normal dormitory at a normal price? (Yes, you will have to pay for the hostel too!). You can forget about the footage from the television series “Univer”: in life everything is a hundred times worse in terms of living conditions.

It is extremely important to ask about teaching practices. After all, it may turn out that the dean’s office will tell you: “Look for places to do internship yourself!” So you will have a mustache yourself. Think ahead and ask the same questions to the admissions committee when applying.

Now re-read the article again to fully understand these tricks on how to enter a university. Use them and don't forget to like!

!

Best regards, Andrey Puchkov

Foreign universities are attractive because they are prestigious. A graduate of such an educational institution will definitely be competitive in the Russian labor market. Some students dream of working in one of the Western companies, and with a diploma from a good European university this is also possible.

It is believed that you can only enter one of the European universities if you have an oligarch dad or talent. In fact, our compatriots were able to penetrate foreign universities without such advantages. You just need to choose a university wisely.

Problems and first steps

You can’t just go and enroll in a foreign university overnight. Even in order to become a student at a Russian educational institution, preparation is needed. First of all, you should take into account the features of the foreign education system. In many universities there is nothing to do with 11th grade; an extra preparatory course is needed. The easiest way out of the situation is to study for a year at a domestic university, and then apply to the university of your dreams. There are also special courses that prepare school graduates for admission to a foreign university.

The third problem will be material support. Even if an applicant has received a grant for studying, he will have to live abroad on something. And this means that you need to already be quite independent. You can start the path to independence - writing coursework or tests pays well.

So, given the problems described above, you need to take a number of steps:

Select a country to study, a university and a department;
- learn more about the requirements for applicants;
- get acquainted with the teaching staff;
- learn about current research work carried out by the department;
- enroll in language courses;
- prepare financially.

All these steps are very important. For example, after familiarizing yourself with the teaching staff and current research works, you can think about applying to a university on a grant. A grant can be issued if the applicant is interested in problems that are already being addressed at the department.

By attending language courses, the future student prepares to take a specialized language proficiency test. You just need to remember that a standard hour a day is unlikely to be enough. You will have to devote time to the language at home, studying on your own. Otherwise, it is impossible to deeply immerse yourself in a foreign language and recognize it as if it were your own. These are the very first steps that an applicant must take. Without them, you won’t be able to get into a serious university.

The problem of choosing a country and university

Ideally, an educational institution is selected as follows:

You decide in which country you want to get an education;
- you choose a university and department;
- all you need to do next is prepare and submit documents.

However, this method is not available to all students for one simple reason - the training will probably be paid. Although sometimes a graduate manages to enter the university of his dreams with a grant, here it depends on your luck. Most often, applicants search for a university like this:

Choose universities that offer grants or high scholarships;
- prepare carefully;
- submit documents.

In order not to lose the opportunity to make your dream come true, it is better to first check all the decent universities in the country where you want to spend several years. If there are absolutely no opportunities for admission, then in this case it is worth looking for universities in other countries.

Grant admission

It is easier to enter a university with a grant for a master's degree or a doctorate. The requirements for such applicants are different. The applicant must have scientific work or research in the relevant field.

You can search for grants on the following websites, information is provided by:

The universities themselves;
- platforms for working with foreign students;
- government websites;
- Russian resources of large companies.

Sometimes Russian companies are willing to pay for the training of specialists abroad. As a rule, these are large organizations. However, you should not rely on such luck. It is better to take a closer look at the proposals of the universities themselves and foreign governments. The authorities may be interested in attracting students from other countries.

Admission to a university on credit

You can also go to university on credit. In fact, this is quite possible; banks willingly cooperate with such students. However, in order to receive funds for education, you do not need to immediately run to bank offices.

To begin with, the future student will have to go through the same path as an applicant entering with a grant or having money. That is, it is necessary:

Pass the language test;
- prepare for admission;
- submit documents;
- receive a certificate that the commission has been successfully passed;
- conclude an agreement on paid training.

Already with the agreement in hand and a package of documents, the student can go to the bank. Such applications are considered carefully, and a positive response from the bank is almost guaranteed. Desired borrowers for banks are students who enroll in business faculties. For example, MBA students will almost certainly get paid.

Unexpected demands from universities

You can expect from foreign universities the requirement to confirm your knowledge, for example, through additional testing. In some cases, you will also have to take an additional course after graduation. However, sometimes the admission conditions can be puzzling. For example, it is known for sure that universities in the UK and Japan need confirmation of the financial solvency of students.

If you decide to become a student at a Japanese or English institution, you will almost certainly have to provide a bank statement. It must have a certain minimum amount that will be considered an “airbag”.

When a student enters a university in Turkey or the Czech Republic (as well as universities in some other countries), he may be offered to learn the language for a year in specialized courses. This is the optimal solution, because in these courses the applicant will become familiar not only with the language base, but also with special terms. They will be useful when passing the commission.

Language exams

Many universities require proof of language proficiency for admission. As a rule, this is a certificate with a certain validity period. Some certificates do not expire and are always valid. Language tests are almost always paid; some types of testing are carried out only a couple of times a year. The most popular exams are conducted online, making life easier for applicants.

You should prepare thoroughly for testing. The test covers all aspects of language proficiency, including writing and speaking skills. For example, you can ask, . Almost all types of language exams are similar to the most popular test.

There are several common tests that students take before admission:

TOEFL;
- IELTS;
- GMAT;
- DELE;
- “TestDaF” (DSH).

TOEFL, IELTS and GMAT - English language tests. The first two tests are almost similar; TOEFL can be considered the American equivalent of IELTS. Before preparing to enter a university, it is better to clarify which certificate will be preferable. Certificates are valid for 2 years after passing the exam. Some universities require that no more than one and a half years have passed after passing the test at the time of admission. The GMAT is taken by applicants entering business faculties like MBA. The results of this test are valid for 5 years.

The DELE certificate is unlimited and accepted by all universities in Spain. "TestDaF" is a test for knowledge of the German language. A DALF certificate will be required for applicants entering educational institutions in France (for example, the Sorbonne), and CELI test results are needed for admission to Italian universities.

There are also other specialized tests. For example, all universities in Japan accept Nihongo Noryoku Shiken certificates. The Japanese language test is taken only twice a year. The certificate is only valid for 2 years, then you need to be tested again.

Final Steps

Sending documents to the university

If you have chosen a country and a university, have the results of the language test in hand and are ready to storm the university of your dreams, then all that remains is to prepare and send a package of documents. No guide can provide an accurate and complete list of documents for admission to a foreign university, because each educational institution has its own requirements. However, some papers are required in most cases. So, you will probably need:

Transcript;
- a copy of the education document, certified by a notary and translated into a foreign language;
- language certificate;
- autobiography in foreign language;
- several letters of recommendation in a foreign language;
- documents on financial position;
- A completed application form.

You can use a certificate, diploma or certificate from a university as a document of education. Schoolchildren who have not yet completed their studies have the opportunity to take an extract from the transcript. As for the transcript, this paper can cause some problems. After all, not every school gives it. If the educational institution does not provide a transcript, you will have to prepare it yourself.

Not all universities require financial documents from applicants. It was already said earlier that an account statement will definitely be needed when applying to universities in England and Japan.

When preparing documents, it is very important not to forget about the application deadlines. Indeed, in Europe, many universities finish accepting students by the end of July. If you hesitate, you may be late. Although being late in this case will give the applicant an extra year to prepare, so there is no need to despair.

When to get a visa?

Applicants often make mistakes when obtaining a visa. Some people start applying for a visa before they have even sent their documents to the university. In fact, there is a clear algorithm of actions that must be followed. A visa can be obtained without any problems only after the applicant has been enrolled in a university and the funds have been transferred to the educational institution’s bank account.

Only after this should:

Fill out a form on the embassy website;
- collect a package of documents for visiting the visa center.

The package of documents must include:

Payment confirmation document;
- document on enrollment;
- a receipt indicating that you have paid the visa fee;
- financial document.

An account statement is suitable as a financial document. Data from the sponsor's account is also considered. You will receive your student visa in about two weeks. Formally, the processing time for such applications is 15 days.

There is no need to rush to obtain a visa; you need to wait until the funds arrive in the university account, but it is also not recommended to delay. After all, you can get a place in a student dormitory only after receiving a visa. If you delay visiting the visa center, you may be left without a place to stay.

Where to live abroad?

You can live abroad in a student dormitory, on campus, in an apartment or with a family. There may not be a place on campus, and living in a dormitory does not suit students for some reasons. Renting an apartment is sometimes expensive, especially since there are not always available living spaces. For example, in London it is difficult to rent an apartment.

An excellent option for a student is living with a family. It may seem like homestays and renting are the same thing, but in fact there are major differences. Living with a family is cheaper, and this is only one of the advantages. Typically, families accept several students to live at once.

When you are with a family, you get a unique opportunity to observe the life of foreigners and their habits. Such experience is simply priceless.

What else do you need to consider?

There are little things that applicants do not pay attention to when applying. Then these shortcomings cause a lot of problems. For example, students dreaming of Paris need to be aware of the bureaucratic hoops that they have to go through when living in this city. France offers free education to international students, but it also requires a number of formalities.

When traveling to a foreign country, it is recommended to familiarize yourself with its norms and customs, otherwise there is a risk of finding yourself in an uncomfortable position. This applies to both Western and Eastern countries. It would be unwise to travel to a foreign country without knowing its culture.

Separately, it is worth mentioning language tests. Many prestigious educational institutions have a minimum passing score. The higher your score on the language test, the better. After all, you won’t be accepted into Harvard or Oxford with the same results that you can get into any average university. Therefore, special attention should be paid to preparing for language testing. By the way, before taking the exam, it is recommended to look at the requirements for the minimum passing score for such an exam.

Is a prestigious university always the best choice?

Western psychologists have recently been studying the problems faced by students at prestigious, world-famous universities like Yale or Oxford. Some of them concluded that a prestigious university is not always the best decision for a student. Such universities have several disadvantages. By enrolling in such an educational institution, you:

You find yourself in a highly competitive environment;
- you can’t count on help;
- you will experience psychological pressure;
- You will be required to meet high standards, including academic performance.

Most students are far from being the first in the group. There is always someone smarter, more capable, more talented. Of course, if you are a genius, then you have a direct path to a prestigious university. Then they will look up to you and feel envy. But the average student will always be catching up to someone ahead. Psychological dissatisfaction and competition lead to many students dropping out of university in their second or third year. Some people can’t stand it after the first course. Any of the prestigious universities has an intensive training program.

Psychologists called this phenomenon the “small fish in a big pond effect” - in other words, you can always be “eaten.” By enrolling in an average university, which is not popular and does not appear on the front pages of specialized publications, you, on the contrary, become a “big fish in a small pond” and receive advantages.

In such a university there is less competition, and students are more often ready to help a friend. Here you can stand out and even become the first. Having graduated from such a university, you will still receive advantages in the labor market. Some of the little-known universities occupy a respectable place in international rankings. Which educational institution to choose is up to you to decide, but you should always remember the results of the study presented above.

Conditional offer and unconditional offer

If you are accepted into a university, you will receive an unconditional offer - this is a letter of unconditional admission. There is also a so-called conditional offer - conditional enrollment. Such letters are sent to applicants who may be enrolled, but subject to certain requirements.

Often, young people whose language test certificate has expired receive a letter of conditional admission. Sometimes the applicant is required to pass some kind of exam. In any case, conditional admission is not such a bad sign.

Universities available for admission

There are universities where you can study almost free of charge or for a nominal fee. Sometimes it is even cheaper for a student to enroll in one of the foreign universities than to study in his hometown. These are not some run-of-the-mill educational institutions, but decent institutions like the Sorbonne and Charles University in Prague.

Charles University: the oldest university in Central Europe

This university is called the most prestigious higher education institution in the Czech Republic. And this is true, because Charles University is known all over the world. It was founded back in the 14th century, and today this university has as many as 17 faculties. Charles University is compared to Bologna, Sorbonne and Oxford. One of the advantages of the university is that you can study here completely free of charge with one amendment: the student must study in Czech.

There are English-language programs at Charles University, but they are paid. Therefore, you need to think carefully before applying. The Czech language is difficult, but you can still master it. Moreover, Charles University offers specialized one-year language courses. In such courses, the applicant receives all the necessary knowledge in order to successfully pass the exams.

Upon admission to Charles University, you will have to pass 2 to 4 exams in Czech. The minimum language proficiency level is B2. This is the so-called “high average level”. The Institute of Language and Professional Training at Charles University provides the necessary knowledge, level B2 is achievable in a year. Preparatory courses take into account the student’s future specialization.

Theoretically, you can prepare for exams on your own by mastering the language at home, but you won’t be able to gain any special knowledge. The applicant simply will not be able to take into account all the subtleties of the upcoming testing.

Sorbonne: the pride of France

There is a university in France whose name is known throughout the world. More precisely, it is not even a university, but a system of universities. We are talking about the Sorbonne - an educational institution that ranks with Oxford and Bologna. This is a prestigious university that is available to Russian students. France has free public education, so the doors of the Sorbonne are potentially open to everyone.

It is only important that the applicant is ready to go through the notorious French bureaucracy. Regarding the language exam, some Sorbonne programs are conducted in English. TOEFL and IELTS certificates are accepted here. To study French you need to obtain a DALF certificate.

Many Russians study at the Sorbonne. They say that it is easier to enroll in a master’s program here using the “double degree” system. This is true, but future bachelors also have every chance to settle within the walls of this educational institution. There is a lot of information about the documents that are needed when entering this university, even on Russian websites. Some students managed to publish articles about their successful experience of entering the university. So, if desired, the applicant will find everything he needs to prepare.

Universities in Germany

There are dozens of higher education institutions in Germany where foreign students can study. Moreover, the state allocates quotas specifically for free education, but only if two conditions are met:

The applicant must have excellent knowledge of German;
- the level of knowledge of the applicant must correspond to the level of knowledge given by the German gymnasium.

Of course, the latter can become a problem for a Russian graduate who has just left school. After all, according to German standards, he will not have enough 1 year. However, you can learn the language, as well as get all the missing knowledge, through Studiencolleg courses. This is a preparatory one-year program for international students. Courses in Germany are paid, but this investment will definitely pay off. After all, in the future it will be possible to study completely free of charge, the main thing is to find funds to live in the country. Frankfurt am Main is considered the most expensive city to live in.

University of Helsinki and other universities in Finland

In Finland you can get a free education or get a diploma for a nominal fee. This university regularly offers students grants for education. Probably the only drawback of the university is that almost all undergraduate programs are conducted here in Finnish. The language can be mastered in additional courses.

But the University of Helsinki is very attractive for masters with knowledge of English. Approximately 40 programs are available to future masters if they intend to enroll here. The most important thing is that it is possible to get a grant here. It’s also possible at this university.

In Finland, private universities offer expensive education, but public universities are relatively affordable. In some cases, the student will have to pay no more than $150 per semester. Living in the country will cost about $1,000 a month, if you don’t go too fancy.

University of Turku is another university in Finland where you can get higher education for free. Moreover, the programs here are conducted mainly in English, so the applicant does not need to learn any other language.

It is worth enrolling in a university in Finland for several reasons:

Many universities here recognize the Russian certificate;
- students can count on scholarships;
- students are allowed to earn extra money.

Advantages of universities in Austria

In Austria, most universities are fee-paying, but some institutions charge moderate fees. Studying here is cheaper than in Zurich or London. However, this is not the main advantage of Austrian universities. Teaching at universities is conducted mainly in German, so it is enough to pass the standard DSH test.

When entering, they do not look at the passing score. Universities also do not offer entrance exams. If a student has any shortcomings, he can then retake the exams at a convenient time. If you want to enroll without unnecessary stress, then Austrian universities are an ideal option.

In Austria, they deliberately decided not to hold exams for admission. After all, many students, after a semester of study, begin to realize that they have chosen the wrong specialty. If students had to constantly take exams, they would hardly change faculties. And the system adopted today facilitates the transition of a student from one faculty to another.

Universities of Poland, Lithuania and Estonia

Free education in Poland is available only to applicants who have a “Pole card”. If you still plan to enroll in one of the local universities, then in this case:

Choose a private educational institution;
- learn Polish.

The programs are mainly conducted in Polish; the requirement for applicants upon admission is a knowledge level of at least B1. Some universities require level B2. Private universities in Poland are more accessible; tuition here is about 2-3 times cheaper than in public educational institutions.

In Lithuania, ISM University is worthy of attention. This is one of the most famous business schools, so you shouldn’t expect that studying will be free. You will have to pay about 1700-2000 euros per semester.

In Estonia, an applicant may be interested in the University of Tartu, which is known for being part of the Coimbra group. This university cooperates with five dozen other higher education institutions from 19 countries. The annual cost of studying at the University of Tartu can exceed 3,000 euros. But the student will receive a diploma from one of the most prestigious educational institutions.

Universities in the CIS countries are not so accessible; it is much easier for an applicant to enter a university in Germany or Austria. It is sometimes difficult to obtain a visa for countries such as Poland and Lithuania - there are too many requirements for entry. Moreover, living costs in these countries can be the same as in large German cities.

Online learning at a foreign university

At some universities you can get an education without leaving your home. Online learning is not uncommon today. In fact, a Russian student can easily graduate from either a Russian university remotely or from one of the most prestigious universities in Europe or America. The only difference will be in the difficulty of preparing for admission.

Benefits of Online Education

There are several reasons to choose distance learning:

Such education will be cheaper;
- the student will not need to take time off from work;
- You can study anywhere and at any time.

If you enroll in the most ordinary faculty, then you will have to live in the country where you are studying, or travel regularly to take exams. With distance education, this is excluded, therefore, you save time and money. A student does not have to think about where to live, where to get funds to live abroad and how to deal with bureaucratic hassles.

Online learning is ideal for busy people. If a person works and has a family, then traveling abroad can only be a dream. But this is not a reason to refuse quality education. European universities even offer advanced training courses. In America, some universities also provide free training programs.

Prestigious universities also participate in the distance learning program. After the student passes the final exams, he will receive a full diploma. Online education is an opportunity to gain the necessary knowledge and “crust” without unnecessary stress.

How is your studies going?

Typically, distance education groups consist of 15 students, although sometimes the number can be higher. Students listen to lectures, receive homework and even take exams. The student is provided with a library for classes, reading lists and much more.

End-of-semester exams can take place either online or in a physical classroom. In the latter case, you will have to travel to the university, and this is not always convenient. You can get a bachelor's or master's degree online, which is also how you study for an MBA, which only attracts managers. Distance education is very beneficial for mothers, because it is a complete punishment.

Admission to university online

Requirements for admission to a foreign university online depend only on the specific university. Each educational institution has its own characteristics. Usually everything goes according to the following scheme:

The applicant undergoes preliminary testing;
- the university sends documents to fill out if the person has passed the exams;
- the applicant fills out the documents and sends them back.

After the documents arrive at the university, the applicant is admitted. From this moment on, he is considered a full-fledged student of the university; he is immediately given access to the electronic resources and databases of the university.

You can study online at universities in many countries, including American, Canadian and European universities. Educational institutions offer both long-term programs and short-term courses of one or two semesters. Taking such courses will quickly increase your competitiveness in the labor market, which is very important for a busy person. In any resume, mentioning a foreign university looks solid.

We are entering university. Tactics and strategy of actions of applicants and their parents

You have probably already chosen the universities and faculties where your grown-up child wants to study. You may have already sent the documents to the admissions committee. And the most important, most exciting question remains: will they enroll or not? What else can you do to get into your desired educational institution? Something is possible!

Check the documents again

Of course, you have already studied the websites of the institutes and know what documents are required for admission. Check again to see if you have collected everything correctly?

To participate in the competition you will need:

  • statement;
  • copy of the passport;
  • a copy of the certificate with an attachment;
  • original documents confirming benefits (for preferential categories, target participants, Olympiad participants)
  • (sometimes) medical certificate 086/U (this document is not mandatory, it should be checked on the university website).

What might you be missing?

Firstly, if the child did not graduate from school this year, but recently retook the Unified State Exam, he should indicate in the application, the result of which exam should be taken into account(after all, they are all in the all-Russian database).

Secondly, do not forget about such an important thing as extra points for individual achievements! The admissions committee can add up to 10 points for sports and scientific achievements, as well as for participation in volunteer activities - carefully study this section on the university website, the requirements of educational institutions vary. Another ten additional points can be earned for an essay - the same one that was written in winter for admission to the Unified State Exam. Commissions of humanities faculties are especially often interested in them; some are even ready to extract them from the database and independently re-evaluate them using a 10-point system. So be sure to indicate that you wrote the essay!

Applicant's calendar: don't miss the moment!

Key dates for admission to university are very important. We would like to note that if your child has passed the Unified State Exam and will not take entrance tests and creative competitions, then you have not missed anything yet.

  1. Start of accepting documents - June 20(for full-time and part-time studies in bachelor's and specialty programs).
  2. Completion of acceptance of documents required for admission from persons applying for training based on the results of additional entrance tests of a creative and (or) professional orientation - July 7.
  3. Completion of the acceptance of documents required for admission from persons applying for training based on the results of other entrance tests conducted by the higher education organization independently - July 10.
  4. Completion of acceptance of documents required for admission from persons applying for training without passing the specified entrance tests (based on the results of the Unified State Exam) - 26 July.
  5. Posting lists of applicants on the official website and at the information stand - no later than July 27.
  6. Completion of acceptance of applications for consent to enrollment from persons applying without entrance examinations, entering places within quotas - July 28th.
  7. An order for the enrollment of persons who have submitted an application for consent to enrollment, from among applicants without entrance examinations, entering places within quotas - July 29.
  8. Completion of acceptance of applications for consent to enrollment from persons included in the lists of applicants for the main competitive places and wishing to be enrolled at the first stage - August 1.
  9. Order on the enrollment of persons who have submitted an application for consent to enrollment until 80% of the main competitive places are filled - August 3rd.
  10. Completion of acceptance of applications for consent to enrollment from persons included in the lists of applicants for the main competitive places until 100% of the main competitive places are filled - August 6.
  11. An order for the enrollment of persons who have submitted an application for consent to enrollment until 100% of the main competitive places are filled - 8 August.

Please note that these dates, specified in Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia dated October 14, 2015 N 1147 (as amended on November 30, 2015), are marked “no later.” Be sure to check the university website for the exact dates!

Differences in the 2016 admissions campaign - cancellation of priorities, statement of consent to enrollment (relevant in 2017)

The fundamental difference in the 2016 admissions campaign is the abolition of taking into account priorities for admission. Previously, when applying to a university for two or three specialties (training programs), you could indicate your preferences with the numbers 1, 2 and 3. If you did not take your preferred specialty, you were automatically excluded from this list and included in the next one. Now the applicant participates in the competition on an equal basis in all specialties (remember, an application for admission can still be sent to five universities for three specialties (training programs) each).

But where you ultimately decide to enroll will be determined by your application for consent to enrollment. This is just a new thing this year - without this document, an applicant cannot become a student, even if he heads the ranking list and brought the original educational documents to the university.

The procedure for admission to the university in two waves

So, what does the admission process look like this year? You bring documents to the admissions committee according to the list above >>>>. After this, you watch with excitement the progress of your name in the ranking of applicants. Almost all major universities today indicate in the ranking which of the applicants immediately submitted consent for enrollment and original documents (i.e. they are quite serious), and who are not (i.e. they consider this university as a backup option). On the 27th you will see the final list on the university website.

And only now, after July 27, the real admissions race begins - you can no longer look away from the university website for a minute!

What happens on the 27th? In fact, now the real qualifying competition begins - only between those who brought original documents and consent to enrollment. The university is required to close 80% of the enrollment, while applicants without originals are ignored (even if they are recommended for admission), and those who were at the bottom of the list can move up fairly quickly.

So, on August 3, all universities will enroll 80% of students. Of course, 80% is a rather arbitrary figure; some will want to return the documents after the enrollment order, but in general the main enrollment will be completed.

I didn't get into the first wave. Will the chances be higher in the second wave?

It depends on what university we are talking about. If we are talking about a prestigious metropolitan university and you are literally on the border of the list of those recommended for admission, then you undoubtedly have every chance to study at the university of your dreams.

In a provincial university, the chances of admission may not be higher, but lower, because applicants who did not consent to enrollment in the first wave may give it in the second! This means that many who sought happiness in the capitals will spit on the pie in the sky and return to Siberian universities for tits.

A good example: the admissions campaign at the Mukhomran Fence Construction Institute.

Let's consider the situation using the example of the Mukhomran Fence Construction Institute, widely known in our country (to simplify the situation, we immediately consider only competitive recruitment on a general basis, not taking into account orphans, disabled people and citizens of Crimea)

Situation No. 1

So, 10 people are recruited for the popular chain-link mesh department. 100 applicants submitted documents; their ranked list is available on the institute’s website. Until August 1, 12 applicants brought original documents and consent to enrollment: No. 1, 2, 5, 7, 9, 55, 79, 95, 96, 97, 99 and 100 (numbers from the ranked list).

Since the university is obliged to fill 80% of the competitive places in the first wave, applicants No. 1, 2, 5, 7, 9, 55, 79, 95 will be admitted. Yes, yes, and No. 95 was also accepted.

Situation No. 2

Applicants No. 7, 12 and 95 changed their minds about enrolling in the chain-link mesh department.

Applicant No. 12 brought an application to revoke documents on July 30 at five o’clock in the evening. Since the admissions committee only worked until six, his documents were returned to him on July 31 at 10 a.m., after which he managed to take the train and take his documents to MGIMO, where he also qualified for the competition.

Applicant No. 95, as we remember, was on the enrollment list, but on the morning of August 2 he changed his mind and came to pick up the documents. They were given to him after lunch, and he also rushed to MGIMO. But it turned out that he would no longer be enrolled on August 3, since consent to enrollment had to be given before August 1. Meanwhile, instead of applicant No. 95, applicant No. 96 was enrolled in the chain-link mesh department on August 3rd.

Applicant No. 7 decided that he also wants to go to MGIMO and he probably has a chance to get there in the second wave. He came to the university on August 4 and also submitted an application to revoke his documents, hoping that they would be given to him within two hours. But, since the enrollment order has already been signed, he is now waiting... waiting... waiting...

Situation No. 3

Applicant No. 95, who at first decided to wait for the second wave of enrollment at MGIMO, suddenly thought “what am I exchanging my native Mukhomransk for!” He took the documents from MGIMO and again took them to the fence-building institute, handed over the originals and consent to enrollment to the admissions committee. But it turned out that applicants No. 22, 58, 59, 60, seeing that those whose Unified State Exam results were much worse were admitted, decided to take a risk and also brought original documents and consent to enrollment! Since there were three free places left at the faculty (2 places - 20% of the admission plan, and the place vacated by applicant No. 7), applicants No. 22, 58, 59 were accepted there.

So, as a result, applicants No. 1, 2, 5, 9, 22, 55, 58, 59, 79, 96 will study at the chain-link mesh faculty. Applicants No. 60 and No. 95 can try their luck next year, although they are much less capable applicants No. 79 and 96 have already become students. Just like that!

The most popular questions from parents of applicants

- Can a child write a statement of consent along with the application for admission?

Maybe, especially if you submitted original educational documents, but only one statement of consent to enrollment can be submitted to the university.

What if he changes his mind about enrolling in the specialty in which he was enrolled, but chooses another at the same university where he also applied for admission?

You will have to write a review of the application for consent to enrollment and a new consent to enrollment.

- Maybe it’s better to immediately submit the original documents to the chosen university?

- We handed over the original documents, and then decided to take...

And they must be given to you within two hours if you came to the admissions office more than two hours before the end of the working day, or in the morning of the next day if you applied in the evening. Not the most popular universities sometimes try to withhold applicants’ documents after the publication of enrollment lists, citing the need for time to prepare an expulsion order. Know that this is not true! You are still required to return the documents within two hours!

Important!

    You may well be admitted to your chosen university in the first wave, even if you are not included in the list of those recommended for admission. The lists are flexible, you can move up the rankings quite quickly. It is important to bring original educational documents and a statement of consent to enrollment on time. You need BOTH of these documents.

    Competition in the second wave may not be lower, but higher than in the first. Please take this into account when planning your admission.

Entering a university is a difficult time that begins in the life of a person who has decided to get a higher education. At this time, many questions arise. His future fate and career depend on how well a person is familiar with all the rules and nuances of admission. So, how to go to college? Let's find the answer to this question.

Choosing a higher education institution

If you have entered the 11th grade, then at the very beginning of the school year, think about where you would like to go. When choosing an educational institution, keep in mind that they are state and non-state. There are many differences between them. State universities have budget places. There is no such thing. Educational services are provided only on a paid basis.

Often, state and non-state universities differ in the quality of education. This is confirmed by inspections recently carried out by Rosobrnadzor. They showed that many non-state universities are ineffective. Teachers and students do not treat the educational process properly. Students are only interested in a diploma, and employees of educational institutions are only interested in money.

If you have not yet decided which institute to enroll in, then remember that many employers, when considering applicant vacancies, pay attention to the diploma. Graduates of large Russian state universities are in high demand. Persons who graduate from non-state educational institutions often have problems finding employment.

Choosing the direction of training

When choosing a university, decide on your specialty. The exams that will need to be taken in the form of the Unified State Exam depend on it. The fact is that after graduating from school, people can participate in admissions campaigns of higher educational institutions only on the basis of the results of the unified state exam.

To clarify the above information, applicants constantly ask the question: Unfortunately, ordinary schoolchildren will not be able to do this immediately after graduation. Without results, based on entrance examinations conducted within the university, graduates of previous years, people with a diploma of secondary vocational or higher education are enrolled. Winners and prize-winners of Russian Olympiads can also enter the institute without the Unified State Exam.

Preparation for passing the Unified State Exam and entrance examinations

As a rule, for each specialty there are 3 subjects for passing in the form of the Unified State Exam or entrance examination. The common subject for all areas of training is the Russian language. Other disciplines depend on the specialty. Additionally, a creative or professional task may be indicated.

Applicants often wonder how they can enter college with significant gaps in their knowledge. In such cases, intensive preparation for exams is necessary. You can do it yourself. If you are not confident in your abilities, then it is best to enroll in pre-university training courses. This service is available in almost all higher education institutions. It's paid. Classes in selected subjects are taught by qualified teachers. They help you understand the theoretical material, explain practical examples, and offer repeated trial testing in the form of the Unified State Exam.

Submission of documents

After passing the Unified State Exam and receiving the results, compare the points you received with the minimum acceptable values. They are published by universities on their websites. If your scores are higher, then apply to your chosen university. If the points you score do not meet the minimum threshold, this means that you will not be able to enroll. The admissions committee will not accept your application or documents.

Submission of the package of documents is carried out within a strictly designated period. It is important to meet it and not be late. To know how to enter the institute, study the list of required documents presented below:

  • an application that is filled out at the admissions office or downloaded from the official website of the institute;
  • passport;
  • a certificate or diploma indicating the availability of education;
  • documents indicating individual achievements.

About the number of applications and the original certificate/diploma

In Russia, the admission of applicants to universities is regulated by a special admission procedure approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of our country. If you are thinking about how to enroll in college, study this document first. According to it, you can submit 5 applications to various higher educational institutions (and in each of them you can apply for a maximum of 3 specialties). This will increase your chances of admission. For example, if you fail to get into a well-known Russian university through a competition, you will be able to enter another educational organization of your choice, which will have a lower passing score.

A very important nuance of admission has to do with the original certificate/diploma. If you have not yet decided on an institute or want to submit several applications to different universities, then present a copy of your education document. In the future, you will need to decide on an educational institution and bring your certificate or diploma to the admissions office. A certain period is allotted for receiving originals. Students who do not bring a certificate or diploma are removed from the rating list after the stated period and are not accepted for study.

Methods for submitting documents

There are several ways to submit documents to the admissions committee of your chosen institute. If it’s somewhere nearby, then go there in person. If the university is located in another city, then send the documents by mail. Please check in advance whether this form of document submission is acceptable at the institute and find out the address.

Many large universities have begun to use an electronic form of document submission. For example, to enroll in an institute in Moscow, you will need to fill out an online application, questionnaire, and upload scans or photocopies of documents. This is very convenient for nonresident applicants.

Calculation of total points and formation of the list

During the admissions campaign, the institute determines the scores of each applicant. They are calculated by adding the results of exams and entrance tests. Additional points are added to them for individual achievements, a red certificate, and the presence of a medal.

Depending on the obtained values, rating lists of applicants to the institute are formed, which are published on the websites of universities. From them you can determine the approximate chances of admission. They depend on where the applicant is and how many people have submitted original documents. It is worth noting that sometimes occupied places are vacated. Some people decide to enroll somewhere else and withdraw their documents. As a result of this, very often those people who are already disappointed in the possibility of admission pass through the competition.

Estimation of chances of admission based on passing score

It is psychologically very difficult to enter college in Moscow or any other city. Students are worried about whether they will be able to get into university and are starting to study last year’s passing scores. These are indicators that indicate the results of the entrance examinations of applicants who took last place among the maximum allowed.

You shouldn't pay much attention to last year's passing scores. They serve only as approximate indicators and help applicants form an idea of how difficult it is to enroll in a particular field of study. change annually. Sometimes they go down or up a lot. In any case, you should try to enroll in the specialty you like.

In conclusion, it is worth noting that you should not rush into admission and run away on the very first day of the start of the admissions campaign. The question of how to go to college requires some thought. Try to first get acquainted with all the educational institutions and specialties that interest you. Choose the university and field that you like. Of course, in the future you can transfer to another educational institution or to another specialty, but this will be a waste of time and nerves. You will have to take those subjects that you did not have in the program, you will again adapt to the educational process, establish connections with classmates and teachers unfamiliar to you.

The phrase “free education” has long been turned into a humorous expression. In the new socio-economic conditions in which our country has lived since 1991, the right to study exists, but no one guarantees that such services will be provided completely free of charge.

Let's consider the question of the right to such training at a university.

So, is there hope for today's school leavers?

Of course, there is such hope. Many of the graduates of this year and the next few years will study in budget places and receive a long-awaited scholarship. Many, but not all.

After all, completely free education in the Russian Federation is provided only in schools, and even then there are paid additional educational services. It is also possible to study for free in colleges and universities, but not everyone who wishes ends up in such places.

If you have a benefit (you are disabled, an orphan, the son or daughter of a Hero of Russia), then it is easier for you to get into a university on a budget-funded place, but if you are not among the beneficiaries, everything becomes much more complicated, and you enroll on a general basis.

But it is very, very difficult to enroll in a budget-funded place at a university on a general basis.

But more about everything.

All about budget places in universities

Every year the Ministry of Education determines the number of budget places in our country. As you know, such places assume that an applicant admitted to a university will receive his education completely free of charge (that is, without investing his personal funds in it), and the state itself will also pay him a small financial incentive (in other words, a scholarship) .

However, if the applicant does not score enough points to be admitted to a budget-funded place, he can study in a paid department, paying a certain fee for his studies at the university every semester (naturally, he will not receive any scholarship).

It would seem that budget places in universities are truly free education. However, everything is not as simple as it seems at first glance.

After all, then our education system would be simply ideal, but this is far from the case.

Number of budget places

The number of budget places is calculated based on the number of school graduates. It is equal to approximately half of all eleventh-graders in the country who graduate from high school.

At the same time, not every second school graduate ends up enrolling in a state-funded place at a university, because in addition to yesterday’s schoolchildren, there are also college graduates, as well as graduates of previous years. As a result, throughout the country the competition for budget places is on average 4-5 people per place. For some specialties there is less competition, for others it is many times greater and reaches 20-30 people per budget place.

It all depends on the prestige of a particular specialty.

Therefore, with such “arithmetic”, getting a free education at a university becomes much more difficult.

Number of budget places in full-time and part-time departments

It should be noted that the number of budget places in full-time and part-time departments, as a rule, differs. Universities allocate a larger number of places to full-time departments, and fewer places to part-time departments.

It also happens that it is generally impossible to get a correspondence education for free. There are specialties in universities, but they are completely transferred to a paid basis.

The only thing that can be advised to an applicant is to collect as much useful information as possible. Already in the spring, the exact number of budget places is always known. All universities have their own websites, where you can always find a page for applicants. The appointment plan is always posted on this page.

Hence the advice - if you want to get a free education, make every effort to achieve your goal. Find out in advance the number of budget places for a particular educational profile and calculate your strength.

What specialties can you enroll in for free?

There are quite a large number of specialties in universities that are considered non-prestigious, so there is little competition for them.

Trends, of course, change over time, but in general such professions always exist.

For example, every fifth or sixth large university has teaching specialties that require training with the qualification “Russian language teacher.” And there is another department, after graduating from which you can get a diploma not as a teacher, but as a philologist or journalist. Of course, the last two professions are considered more prestigious, and therefore there is more competition for the budget for them.

The same can be said for other professions: livestock specialist, sociocultural specialist, librarian, etc. Here, it will not be at all difficult for a school graduate with an average Unified State Examination score to get a government-funded place.

But, for example, becoming a lawyer or economist for free will be much more difficult. And even more so as a specialist in international law...

What is a target location?

However, there is another option for free. It is connected with admission to the so-called “target” place.

What is it about? The fact that an agreement is concluded between the employer of a potential applicant and the university, according to which the employer pays for the training of a young student, and then he has the right to demand that the specialist work for him for a certain number of years. Often such an employer is the state itself, represented by ministries and departments that need specialists of a certain type of training.

For example, a federal subject needs doctors (there is an acute shortage of them now). A quota of 30-70 target places is allocated for this subject. and studies on the same basis as other students, however, after receiving a diploma, he is required to work for several years in public medical institutions of the subject, thanks to which he received his target place.

Otherwise, the student is obliged to reimburse the state for the costs of his studies in full.

Is it possible to get professional retraining for free?

Some young people who already have a higher education realize over time that the profession does not suit them.

But they have already received higher education for free once in their lives. They have a need to undergo professional retraining to engage in a new type of professional activity.

Is this possible? Yes, it is possible, but if budget places in universities are still available, then additional professional education is offered exclusively as a paid type of educational service. Therefore, such a person, in fact, has two ways to solve his problem.

First solution: pay for your own education.

Second solution: try to have the employer pay for it.

In fact, there are cases when employers are interested in improving the level of professional skills of their employees and even giving them the opportunity to gain the right to engage in a new type of professional activity.

You can use this to get a professional retraining diploma for free.

Is it possible to get a second higher education without paying?

Unfortunately, according to the law on education of our country, it is impossible to obtain a second free education at a university. The state guarantees only one education. Let’s immediately make a reservation that we are not talking about continuing education, for example, in a master’s or graduate school.

But, alas, it is no longer possible to study for a bachelor’s degree twice for free or to study for a master’s degree twice. This applies even to those cases where the first higher education was paid.

Is it possible to transfer from a paid branch to a free one?

Many students who enroll in paid departments of universities, sparing their financial resources, and sometimes simply not having enough of them, strive to transfer from a paid department to a free one.

Thus, they want to receive higher education for free, only starting not from the 1st year, but a little higher.

Is this possible?

In general, this is possible, but there are certain nuances that you need to know.

Firstly, a paying student can get a budget place only if there are vacant budget places at the university. Simply put, if one of the state-funded students was expelled. Next, it is necessary that its translation be agreed upon with the curator of the group, the dean of the faculty. Many universities prescribe rules for transferring from a paid department to a budget one, indicating that such a student candidate for a budget place must be an excellent or good student, must show his best side, his teachers must speak positively about him, etc.

If you received secondary education for free, is it possible to enter a university on a budget?

Yes, such a procedure is possible. Secondary specialized and secondary vocational education will not prevent a young person from continuing his studies at a higher educational institution. Moreover, college graduates today have an opportunity that school graduates are deprived of: they can enter universities without the Unified State Exam, passing only entrance exams.

Moreover, practice shows that such applicants receive higher scores on entrance exams than school graduates, so they have a better chance of getting a budget place.

What can help an applicant get a budget place?

Well, firstly, good knowledge in the field of the sciences that he will have to study. A high Unified State Examination for a modern school graduate is a “real ticket” not only to a budget place, but also to a prestigious university.

Secondly, the applicant needs to show real ingenuity, study carefully all the specialties that are offered at universities, find out what the competition is for these specialties, etc.

Thirdly, the applicant must be well aware of his rights. Nowadays, members of admissions committees, at the instigation of university heads, often refuse to accept documents for budget-funded education for far-fetched reasons. This is done in order to prevent “people from the street” from participating in budget training. Therefore, the applicant himself and his parents must firmly know all their rights and be able to defend them.

Are there other ways to get a budget place?

Basically, all the ways to a budget place have been listed above. There are, however, several more ways. For example, there are free competitions of the Ministry of Education. The prize for winning them is often the right to a budget-funded place at a particular university. Also, in rare cases, a university may accept a promising student not for a budget-funded place, but for a place that it will finance from its own internal funds.

Thus, in general, everything depends on the will of the heads of universities themselves and the executive secretary of the admissions committee.

What conclusions can be drawn?

Based on the above, we can conclude that it is possible to get an education for free in modern conditions. However, this requires a lot of effort. You also need to have high academic performance, be able to navigate the modern labor market, and wisely choose a suitable specialty and a suitable university.

In fact, today, despite significant achievements of progress, it is just as difficult for a person who dreams of knowledge and an academic degree to prove his worth as in the time of M.V. Lomonosov. What did the Russian genius go through to get the proper degree of education: hardships, hunger, and cold. Meanwhile, he also studied at government expense, that is, in modern terms, he occupied a budget place.

His example proves that anyone who wants to learn can get a higher education for free. Therefore, everything is in our hands: our successes and our failures. You just need to boldly move forward and not be afraid of anything.
