Bus from FoodMart

The most popular way is to take the bus from FoodMart. Buses from FoodMart run every hour from 7.00 am to 9.00 pm. Ticket sales end at 20.00. The ticket costs 120 baht. Travel time – 2 hours. Buses depart from the famous FoodMart at the intersection of Thappraya and Theprasit roads.

  • timetable from Suvarnabhumi Airport – 08.00, 10.00, 12.00, 14.00, 16.00, 18.00.

From Pattaya, the bus may depart later than indicated on the schedule, by 15-30 minutes, since they first pick up passengers from hotels in minivans, and then transfer everyone into one large bus and take them to the airport. The schedule shows the departure time of the large bus. Tickets must be purchased from their office, which is open every day from 9.00 to 19.30. But if you want to be picked up from your hotel, you need to buy tickets before 18.30, otherwise the company may say that the tourist collection service is no longer working. In addition, although it is written on their website that they are open until 19.30, they actually close at 19.00. Their office is located at the Northern Bus Station.

Get by bus to Bangkok, and then from Bangkok to Suvarnabhumi Airport

From the Northern Bus Terminal, buses go to Bangkok every half hour. Delivery to three bus stations: Ekkamai, Morchit and Sai Tai Mai (Southern Bus Terminal). The only bus station in Bangkok near the metro is Ekkamai (the metro is a couple of minutes walk). Therefore, it is best to go to it, and then from there by metro or taxi to the airport. This bus station is also geographically closer to Suvarnabhumi Airport than the other two.

Buses to Ekkamai run every half hour. The ticket costs 108 baht. The first bus is at 4.30, the last at 23.00. After 21.00 buses run once an hour. It takes 1.5-2 hours to get to Bangkok - from my experience, but more often it takes 2 hours due to traffic jams. We flew a couple of times in 1.5 hours. On their stand they say the travel time is 2-2.5 hours, but I’ve never had it happen that it took us 2.5 hours to get to Bangkok.

From Ekkamai Bus Station you can take a taxi or metro to Suvarnabhumi Airport. The ride by taxi is 27 km, and if there are no traffic jams, it will take 30 minutes and costs about 300 baht. You can take the metro directly to Suvarnabhumi Airport, the ride takes about 1 hour with two transfers, estimated cost about 100 baht. The Bangkok metro operates from 6 am to midnight.

I traveled from Pattaya to Ekkamai many times, so I 100% confirm all the information on how to get to Bangkok, but I myself have never traveled to Suvarnabhumi Airport from Ekkamai station, so there may be small inaccuracies, but in general, I think the information is correct . If you traveled to the airport this way, please share accurate information about the time and cost in the comments to the article.

Get by train to Bangkok, and then from Bangkok to Suvarnabhumi Airport

This is a very bad option, because from Pattaya to Bangkok the train runs only once a day at 14.21 and arrives in Bangkok at 18.15. Those. the journey takes more than 3 hours, which is very long and unacceptable - it’s faster to get there by bus. However, the ticket costs only 31 baht (3rd class). You can check the current train schedule on the Thailand Railways website.

Taxi

The fastest and most expensive way is a taxi. A taxi costs 1100 baht. Travel time is 1.5 hours, if there are no traffic jams. With traffic jams – 2 hours. Taxi drivers usually say 1200 baht, but then everyone agrees to 1100 baht.

How to get from Pattaya to Suvarnabhumi Airport at night

Apart from the methods listed above, there are no other ways to get to Suvarnabhumi Airport from Pattaya.

From 7.30 am to 2.00 am you can get to the airport without a taxi Pattaya-Suvarnabhumi using one of the above methods. If you need to arrive at the airport later than 2.00 am and earlier than 7.30 am, then there are three options:

  • arrive at the airport at 2.00 am and wait as long as necessary;
  • hire a taxi Pattaya - Suvarnabhumi for 1100 baht;
  • arrive to Bangkok a day in advance, stay close to the airport, have a good time there and get to the airport at night by taxi (it's cheap!).

In the table below I will compare all the methods with each other, and from this table it is clear what time you will arrive at Suvarnabhumi airport in one way or another.

What is the best way to get to the airport from Pattaya, which method to choose

What is the best way to get to Suvarnabhumi Airport from Pattaya, other than taking a taxi? Let's compare all the methods with each other:

  • the best and most popular method (it’s also the cheapest!). Of all the methods discussed here, the best and most popular is the bus from FoodMart, it is cheap, only 120 baht, and you don’t have to pay extra for luggage;
  • most convenient way(not counting taxis)– this is to get there by Bell Travel Service bus: a minivan will come to pick you up at your hotel. The disadvantages of this method are that you need to buy a ticket at the Northern Bus Station, the ticket is expensive, and there is also a baggage fee if more than one piece or one piece weighs more than 20 kg;
  • the most interesting but inconvenient way- This means going to Bangkok by bus, and then taking the metro or taxi to Suvarnabhumi Airport. This method of getting there takes the longest and is the most troublesome, but it is much cheaper than a direct taxi, and with its help you can arrive at the airport either early in the morning or late at night, unlike other methods. In addition, you will be able to see Bangkok once again or take a ride on the metro - it’s a whole adventure!

Looking for information on transfers from Bangkok to Pattaya in Thailand? In this article we will tell you how to get to Pattaya from Bangkok and from Bangkok Airport on your own, how much the trip costs and how long it will take.

There are three ways to get to Pattaya - by bus, by train or by ordering a taxi transfer. There is no train connection from Bangkok Airport to Pattaya, but you can get there by bus or taxi.

Below we will consider each of the options in more detail.

How to get from Bangkok to Pattaya by bus

Buses Bangkok - Pattaya run from two bus stations in the Thai capital: northern (Mo Chit) and eastern (Ekkamai). Buses depart every 25-40 minutes and reach Pattaya in 2-2.5 hours. The ticket costs about 125 baht.

It is more convenient to go from the eastern (Ekamai) bus station, since it is located near the metro station of the same name (Ekamai station), and buses from this station run more often than from the northern one.

Make sure you take an "express" that goes non-stop (most buses to Pattaya are like this, but others make several stops along the way and take almost twice as long in total).

Map showing the location of bus and train stations in Bangkok:

Minivan

Previously, you could get to Pattaya by minivan from the Victory Monument metro station, but recently the Thai authorities kicked out all minivans from there. They now depart from official bus stations in Bangkok, and free shuttles have been launched from Victory Monument to these stations.

For example, minivans from the Pattaya Van company travel from Mochit bus station every 15-20 minutes, the ticket costs only 92 baht per trip.

By train

The train from Bangkok to Pattaya runs daily at 06:55 from Bangkok's Hua Lampong Central Station. On this route, only third-class tickets are sold (cars like ours on electric trains), the price is about 30 baht.

The train travels for more than three hours and arrives in Pattaya at 10:34, and then only on the condition that it is not late. We recommend considering this option only as a last resort.

You can check the train schedule on the official website of the Thai Railways.

How to get to Pattaya from Bangkok airport

Buses

If you fly into Bangkok's main airport (Suvarnabhumi), then getting to Pattaya on your own will be even easier: buses run directly from the airport.

The distance between the airport and Pattaya is 110 kilometers, the trip takes about one and a half hours in dry weather and about two hours in rainy weather.

There are several operators providing bus service from Bangkok Airport to Pattaya.

Airport Pattaya Bus. Buses from this carrier depart every hour from 7 am to 10 pm from gate No. 8 on the ground floor of the airport. Travel time is two hours, ticket price is 120 baht.

Bell Travel Service. The carrier Bell Travel Service operates flights from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport 6 times a day - every two hours from 08:00 to 18:00 (inclusive).

At the same time, you travel from Bangkok airport to Pattaya by bus, and in the city you are transferred to a minivan and taken to the hotel. The ticket costs 250 baht. According to the latest information, there are currently no ticket offices of this company at the airport and tickets can only be bought online on the official website (link above). Buses depart from the ground floor of Suvarnabhumi Airport, from gates 7-8.

Taxi Bangkok – Pattaya

You can get to Pattaya by taxi either directly from Bangkok or from Suvarnabhumi Airport. Taxi prices from Bangkok airport to Pattaya start from 1,500 baht, from the city it can be a little more expensive.

Travel time is around 2 hours. This transfer will be the most expensive, but also the most convenient - you will be taken directly to your hotel.

In any case, always agree on the final price with the driver before the start of the trip - there is a risk of bumping into an unscrupulous driver who will try to charge you more money than he says at the beginning.

Transfer Bangkok – Pattaya

If you arrive in Thailand too late, have a lot of luggage, are traveling in a large group or with children, it will be more convenient for you (or directly from the hotel if you plan to spend several days in the city) in advance.

You can, for example, use the services of a company - in this case, a driver with a sign will meet you at the airport, and the final cost of the trip can be paid in rubles before departure to Thailand.

The price of a Bangkok – Pattaya transfer by taxi depends on the class of the car, but on average it starts from 45-50 dollars for the whole car (accommodates up to 4 people).

You can check the current cost of transfer to Pattaya using the form below:

Which method to choose

It all depends on your preferences and financial capabilities:

  • A minivan is the cheapest (from 92 baht), but it is the least comfortable option.
  • Buses are a little more expensive, but they have more space and a more pleasant ride. The best option, if you don't want to pay for a taxi.
  • Transfer is the most convenient of all methods, and also relatively inexpensive.

If you want to save money, have few things and have time, then choose a bus. If you want comfort after a hard flight - .

After passing through customs control and receiving your luggage, you need to change yours to local ones. It's best to do it yourself ground floor, next to the metro line ticket offices. The rate there is better than in other places at the airport (and, as it seemed, in Pattaya).

Keep in mind that exchange offices in Thailand (and even in Pattaya) are not 24/7, so if you find yourself there after 8 pm, you may not have time to exchange currency for your hotel and expenses for the evening. Alternatively, there are ATMs at airports where you can withdraw cash from your card.

There are several counters where they sell tickets to different cities and resorts in Thailand, including to and.

When traveling on your own, you will definitely be faced with the question of transport and ways to get to Pattaya from Suvarnabhumi Airport. In the article we will talk about what options we have used in our practice, how much it costs to get to Pattaya from Suvarnabhumi Airport, and also give some useful tips.

After the long-awaited landing at the main airport of Thailand, passing through passport control, receiving luggage and going through the customs area, we go to the arrival hall (2nd FLOOR), which has several exits to the street. Now we need to get to Pattaya.

Option 1. AOT Limousine

Exiting through exit 5 on the second floor, you can find parking for minibuses and passenger cars with the inscriptions AOT Limousine is a 24-hour transport service, which is headed state organization AOT (Airports of Thailand).

AOT Limousine in Suvarnabhumi

This service is, to put it mildly, expensive and there is no particular point in driving such cars; there are many other and cheaper ways. Comfortable, prestigious, but a little expensive. See the AOT Limousine price list from the official website:

Prices AOT Limousine Suvarnabhumi - Pattaya

Most cheap option costs to Pattaya 2700 Baht,it is expensive.

The airport diagram clearly states - public transport, buses and taxis on the ground floor

We are on the second, buses on the first

It is easy to get to the first floor - there are escalators and elevators. There are two types of escalators at the airport - regular ones with steps and flat ones, that is, without steps. They are convenient for moving with large luggage and airport trolleys on which luggage is folded.

We go down to the first floor

Option 2. Bus

Bus transportation from Suvarnabhumi to Pattaya is provided by Roong Reuang Coach. With this company, you can also go to Hua Hin from the airport. By the way, you can also book tickets online at link

Having gone down to the first floor, the first thing you need to do is find the bus ticket office. It is located in the western part of the building - if you stand facing the exit from the airport onto the street, then on the left. You can use the sign and go towards the food court (towards exit No. 8). I provide a photo and apologize for its quality, the inscriptions are illuminated and the correction does not help.

Food court straight ahead, exit 7 on the right

Along the way, before reaching the food court, right at exit No. 8 on the right side we see the treasured bus ticket office, where you can buy a ticket to Pattaya and beyond. The cash register looks like this:

Bus ticket office in Suvarnabhumi

The sign at the ticket office says that travel to Pattaya costs 120 Thai Baht per person. Included in the price hand luggage and 1 piece of luggage ( standard size and weight), you must pay extra for additional luggage and oversized items; the price list is posted at the counter. By the way, previously travel on these buses cost a little more - 134 Baht. Transportation is carried out daily from 7.00 to 22.00 with an interval of one hour.

Where do buses stop from Suvarnabhumi to Pattaya?

The buses make two stops along the route:

  • near the intersection of Sukhumvit and North Road (North Road or Pattaya Nua), opposite Bangkok Hospital Pattaya
  • At the intersection of Sukhumvit and Central Street (Central Road or Pattaya Klang). Strange, but this stop is not indicated on the carrier’s website, but on the map that is at the ticket office in Suvarnabhumi this stop is (see photo of the map just below).
  • near the intersection of Sukhumvit and South Road (South Road or PattayaTai), near BigC Supercenter

Then the final stop is Thappraya Road.

Important! Flights at 21.00 and 22.00 go to Pattaya North Bus Station

Stops on the map

Bus stops on the map

There is a sign at the counter with the departure time for which this moment tickets are on sale. As soon as the current flight sells out, the next flight time appears on the sign. When purchasing tickets, you will be told what time you need to come here - to the ticket office. And at the appointed time, everyone will be collected and escorted to boarding. Keep in mind that sometimes tickets sell out very quickly and if you think or walk around for a long time, you can lose two hours of time.

The road to Pattaya takes approximately two hours, and the cost for three was 360 baht

Option 3. Taxi Meter

Here, on the ground floor, the street parking is occupied by taxis, not the AOT limousine ones, but the usual yellow, yellow-green and pink ones. Each car is parked in a specific place. Some leave with passengers, others park in their place.

Taxi parking on the ground floor of Suvarnabhumi

Without knowing how the system works, you can end up in a stupid situation. The first time, out of ignorance, I simply went out into the street through exit 8, approached the first taxi driver I came across and asked how long it would be to Pattaya. The taxi driver answered - 1700 baht. I started bidding, almost agreed on 1300 and suddenly I heard a whistle, the taxi driver hurriedly walked away and climbed into the car. The source of the whistle turned out to be a man on a bicycle, who was calling me, while clearly swearing)

In general, this man angrily explained to me that it is impossible to negotiate with drivers directly, to which I pretended that I knew nothing and did not understand him well) and asked him to help me with a taxi.

So, to order a taxi at the airport, near exits 4 and 7 on the first floor, there are special coupon terminals (like in a savings bank). After waiting in line, you need to go to this terminal and select a class the car you need- a sedan (Toyota Corolla) or a compact van (Toyota Innova), after which the machine issues a ticket indicating the boarding point Lane number, the driver’s full name, his license number and telephone number.

On such devices you need to take a taxi ticket. Photo by AOT Let's teach such a coupon. The boarding path and driver information are indicated.

After this you need to proceed to the landing. We just go out to the parking lot and look for our number. Lane numbers are indicated on illuminated signs above the parking lot. We go to the desired point and wait for the driver. Then we sit down and tell him the final address. We got to Pattaya itself quickly, the travel time took a little more than an hour, because the road is excellent and allows you to drive quickly.

A trip by such a taxi to Pattaya cost us 1500 Baht.

Option 4. Order a transfer online

Modern technologies and services allow you to order a taxi online from any device and at any time. One such convenient service is Kiwi Taxi. By indicating the points of departure and arrival you see available options transfer, for example classes and brands of cars, number of passengers for each class. Transfer prices are also immediately visible.

Convenient choice car class with cost indication

As you can see in the screenshot, minimum cost for three passengers - 55$ . This is comparable to the cost of Taxi Meter, but this method has big advantages:

  • You can order such a taxi in advance and save time
  • payment takes place on the website, so everything is transparent and there are no price changes
  • When ordering, you indicate the flight number and when you arrive, the taxi will already be waiting for you
  • when ordering, you indicate your destination in Pattaya and the driver already knows where you need to go (we had language problems, for example, when you go to a little-known hotel)

Order form

Find and order a transfer from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Pattaya yourself

Option 5: Grab Taxi app

Another option is to use the Grab Taxi app. This application is indispensable when traveling, for example around Pattaya itself. Making an order is very convenient, there is no language barrier - everything is visible on the map, where you need to come from and where you need to go. We use Grab very actively in Pattaya.

In 2018, the cost of a trip from the airport to Pattaya North Street varies from 1100 to 1400 Baht

  • In order to leave by bus and not hang around the airport for a very long time, we advise you to immediately, first of all, go get tickets or send someone alone
  • Do not negotiate with taxi drivers in the 1st floor parking lot on your own - this disrupts smooth work and angers management
  • To get a cheaper taxi, try to negotiate in the parking lot on the 4th floor (departure area). Taxi drivers from Pattaya bring departing passengers here and don’t really want to stand in line at the bottom or drive back empty.
  • The easiest way is to order online, for example at

If you don't mind the money, you can take a taxi from Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok's main airport, to Pattaya; this pleasure costs around 1,500 baht. If you want to get cheaply from the airport to Pattaya, regular buses will be at your service, the fare on which costs an order of magnitude less; as of March 2018, the fare cost 120 baht.

Buses from Bangkok Airport to Pattaya run every 1 hour, starting from 7-00 to 10-00, daily, including holidays and weekends. This route has been operating since the opening of Suvarnabhumi Airport in 2006, and over the past 10 years ticket prices have decreased rather than increased.

Where is the bus stop from the airport to Pattaya?

The counter for selling bus tickets to Pattaya is located on the 1st floor of the airport building (one floor above the underground entrance to the metro), near exit No. 8. Buses heading to Pattaya stop directly opposite this exit, all lucky ticket holders wait for buses not on the street, but next to the ticket counter, and they are clearly informed about the arrival of the bus.

Note. There are no signs for buses going to Pattaya in the airport building, and it would be nice to remember the location of the above counter, otherwise you will have to check its location with the Suvarnabhumi Airport staff.

How long does it take to travel from Bangkok International Airport to Pattaya?

The distance between Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok's main airport, and Pattaya is 120 km. Taking into account the fact that traffic jams regularly occur in Pattaya itself and the immediate surroundings of this city, a bus ride on this route takes 2 hours.

You might expect a taxi ride from the airport to Pattaya to take less time, but this is not the case. In accordance with local traditions, large vehicles always have priority on the road, and buses easily push aside taxis in Pattaya traffic jams.

What are the buses operating on the route Bangkok Airport - Pattaya

From Suvarnabhumi Airport to Pattaya there are comfortable and air-conditioned full-size buses (not minibuses, which are notorious for their low level comfort).

The operator of this route is Roong Reuang Co. Ltd. , a government-certified carrier that has a concession from the Department of Transport of Thailand to operate bus services on route No. 389, this is the number assigned to flights from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Pattaya, and back, from Pattaya to Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Where do buses stop on route 389, Bangkok Airport - Pattaya.

In Pattaya, buses of route 389 make 5 stops, at the turnoff from the route to northern, central and southern Pattaya, near the carrier's office on Thepprasit road, and at the final stop in Jomtien. The last two buses, departing from the airport at 21-00 and 22-00, make only 1 stop in Pattaya, at the northern bus terminal of Pattaya.

When purchasing a bus ticket, you will have the choice of buying a simple ticket to Pattaya, which costs a little more than 100 baht, or a transfer to your hotel door, which costs 250 baht. In the latter case, upon arrival at the carrier’s office on Thepprasit road, you will be transferred to a minibus, which will take all owners of such a transfer to the appropriate hotels.

As a rule, there is no practical need to purchase a transfer to the hotel door. In Pattaya, every bus coming from Bangkok is guarded by a whole cloud of local taxi drivers, and you will only need to negotiate with them on the price, which is usually around 50 baht. In the event that you go to the final stop, you will have the opportunity to transfer to a songthaew (a local version of a minibus) and get to desired point for 10 - 20 baht.

Prohibition of drinking alcoholic beverages on buses and public transport

It’s a good idea to know about this feature of Thai law if you don’t want to receive a fine of several thousand baht. The ban on the consumption of alcohol, including beer, applies to all types of road transport without exception, incl. buses, taxis and motorbikes. The ban applies not only to drivers, which is quite expected, but also to passengers.

August 10, 2012. Occupants of vehicles of any kind who drink alcohol during travel are now subject to six months imprisonment and/or a Bt60,000 fine, the Office of Alcoholic Beverages announced yesterday. The penalties will also be imposed on drinkers in vehicles parked on sidewalks or shoulders of public roads, including sois, regardless of whether the vehicles are moving, OAB director Samarn Footrakool said. Drinking occupants and drivers will be equally liable for such violations. "The only exceptions under this law are occupants of vehicles parked in front of their homes," he said.
