Specialization: facade finishing, interior decoration, construction of cottages, garages. Experience of an amateur gardener and gardener. We also have experience in repairing cars and motorcycles. Hobbies: playing the guitar and many other things that I don’t have time for :)

It's no secret that starting to arrange garden plot follows from the construction of a toilet. Its presence is very convenient even if the house has a bathroom, since when working in the garden you will not need to go home to visit the restroom. Therefore, I decided to devote this article to how to build a garden toilet yourself, which, in fact, is much simpler than many people imagine.

Project

As you know, any construction always begins with a project, and the toilet is in this case is no exception. At this stage, you need to decide on the following points:

Below I will tell you about all the nuances of designing a toilet.

Location on the site

So, first of all you need to decide on the location of the building. The fact is that the toilet in the garden must be located according to certain rules.

For example, if the area has level differences, the toilet should be located on a high part of it. In lowlands there is a possibility of flooding during snow melting or storm water.

In addition, it is extremely important to correctly maintain the distance from the toilet to other objects:

Of course, it is necessary to provide a convenient approach to the toilet. Moreover, you should think in advance about how to clean the garden toilet when the cesspool is full. To do this, it is necessary to provide access to a sewage disposal truck. Therefore, it makes sense to place the building closer to the fence.

It must be said that many people try to position the toilet so that it is hidden and does not spoil the exterior of the site with its appearance. However, if you approach construction creatively, the structure can even become a decoration.

Toilet design

There are a great many options for the design of a toilet and the materials from which it can be built. However, as an example, let's look at how to build a closet made of wood, which will be based on a frame made of timber.

To build it, it is not necessary to have experience in similar construction or experience working with wood. The only thing is, before you start work, you need to draw up drawings of a garden toilet with your own hands or use ready-made ones, for example, presented on our portal.

If you do the drawings yourself, then you need to decide on the dimensions of the structure. Standard sizes the following:

The main elements of the frame are the racks, which are connected into a single structure by the lower and upper trim. In addition, cross members and braces can be used to add strength to the frame. To ensure a roof slope, the rear wall should be made 10 centimeters lower than the front.

During the drawing process, it is necessary to indicate the dimensions of all structural parts in millimeters. This will make it easier further work, and will also prevent errors during the installation process.

Materials

To build the toilet in question, you will need the following parts:

  • timber with a section of 50x50 mm - for the manufacture of a frame and toilet seat;
  • boards with a thickness of at least 20 mm - for the floor and upholstery of the toilet seat;
  • lining, boards or other material for covering the frame;
  • roofing material - slate, corrugated board or any other.

cesspool

Since the toilet will not accept sewage waste, a cesspool can be made small sizes. For example, a volume of one and a half to two cubic meters will be enough for a family of three to four people. However, it will have to be cleaned every few years.

As for the construction of the pit, its walls must be sealed, and the bottom is filled with sand and crushed stone. Each layer should be about 15 centimeters. This is necessary to filter the liquid components of the waste.

As a rule, the walls of the pit are filled with concrete. However, you can use a faster and in an economical way sealing - stack car tires on top of each other.

In cases where groundwater flows near the soil surface, the pit must be completely sealed. For example, the bottom can be filled with concrete and slopes can be laid on top.

To make a sealed cesspool, you can use a plastic container. For example, a Euro cube is perfect for these purposes. The price of a used Euro cube with a volume of 1000 liters is about 4000-5000 rubles.

Construction of a toilet

Frame

After preparing the project, you can proceed directly to the construction of the toilet. Since digging and arranging a hole is not difficult, let’s start right away with construction.

So, the work is performed in the following order:

  1. First of all, you need to mark the location of the structure. The frame should be installed so that the back of the toilet is above the cesspool;
  2. Next you need to do the foundation, which can be used as concrete blocks. To do this, you need to dig holes in the corners of the structure to a depth of about 40 cm. The bottom of the holes should be filled with sand and crushed stone, compacted thoroughly, after which blocks are laid on top.
    Let me draw your attention to the fact that the blocks must be located in the same horizontal plane, so when laying them you should use building level. When the foundation is ready, several layers of roofing material must be laid on the blocks, which will serve as waterproofing;

  1. then the base of the frame is made from timber, which is a rectangle. For reliability, the beams should be connected to each other “into the paw” or “into the floor of the tree.” However, if you do not have proper experience working with wood, you can get by with a butt joint.
    In any case, it is necessary to strengthen the corners metal corners and self-tapping screws.
    The part of the toilet that is located above the pit must be separated by a cross beam, as shown in the photo above;
  2. then you need to install vertical posts at the corners of the structure. For this you should also use metal corners and screws. In addition, the racks can be strengthened with braces;
  3. the top of the rack needs to be tied with a top harness, which serves as the basis for the roof;
  4. in front of the toilet you need to make a door frame. For this purpose, two racks are also installed, to which a crossbar is attached on top.
  5. in the back or side of the frame it is necessary to perform window box . To do this, two crossbars are attached to the racks, between which two vertical racks are installed. The distance between them determines the width of the window, and the distance between the crossbars determines its height;

Before you begin assembling the frame, everything wooden parts should be processed antiseptic, preventing the process of rotting.

This completes the construction of the frame.

Sheathing

As a rule, garden toilets for dachas are sheathed with boards or clapboard. The latter will give the structure a more attractive appearance.

It can be positioned both horizontally and vertically. To attach the lining or boards to the frame, you can use both self-tapping screws and nails.

Particular attention should be paid to the roof. It is performed in the following sequence:

  1. on top harness you need to fill the crate. For this you can use wooden slats or boards. True, if used flexible tiles, instead of the sheathing, sheets of moisture-resistant plywood should be fixed;
  2. then it is attached on top of the sheathing waterproofing film. To fix it you can use wooden slats and nails;
  3. Next, any roofing material is laid.

Now you need to execute. To do this, you need to make a rectangular frame out of timber the size of the door frame, and then cover it with boards. The door can be installed on regular awnings.

To glaze a window, you need to cut or order glass of suitable sizes. It can be secured with glazing beads located on both sides of the glass.

Making a toilet seat

Now all that remains is to make the toilet seat and lay the floors. Instructions for doing this work look like this:

  1. a frame is also used at the base of the toilet seat. To make it, first of all, you need to install horizontal crossbars on the left and right walls, as in the photo above. The distance from the floor to the crossbars determines the height of the toilet seat, which is usually selected individually;
  2. Next, the toilet seat racks are installed, which are attached to the crossbars from above, and to the base of the structure from below;
  3. At the top, both racks are also connected by a crossbar located perpendicular to the side horizontal bars;
  4. now the resulting frame should be sheathed with boards;
  5. Place a toilet board in the center of the toilet seat and trace it with a pencil;
  6. Next you need to cut a hole along the contour with a jigsaw. To do this, you first need to drill a hole into which the jigsaw file can fit;
  7. To complete the work, you need to lay boards on the floor of the toilet, and also secure the board from the toilet to the toilet seat.

This completes the construction of the garden toilet.

Conclusion

As you can see, building a garden toilet yourself is really not difficult. If you wish, you can make it in the form of a mansion or even place it under one roof Summer shower. The main thing is to prepare the project in advance and follow a certain sequence of actions.

You can get more information from the video in this article. If any points are unclear to you or difficulties arise during the construction process, ask questions in the comments, and I will be happy to help you.

Thinking through the arrangement suburban area, many try to make and decorate even unsightly functional and outbuildings so that they harmoniously fit into the surrounding landscape.

There is nothing difficult about building a presentable and functional toilet in the country with your own hands. You just need to have basic construction skills and have the necessary materials on hand.

Design options for country toilets

When planning to build a toilet in a country house with your own hands, first of all you need to decide on the type future design.

Conventionally, all street latrines can be divided into two types: with a cesspool and with a replaceable container. Constructions of the first type involve the presence of a hole dug in the ground. Latrines of the second type are equipped with special containers for collecting waste, filled with peat with sawdust, or a special aqueous solution.

Traditional pit toilet. This is the cheapest and affordable way for the implementation of an outdoor bathroom. The principle of its operation is quite simple: waste products fall into a cesspool, where the liquid part is partially absorbed into the soil and evaporates, and the dense component accumulates. To clean cesspools, they resort to the services of sewage disposal companies.

Backlash closet. It is also equipped with a cesspool, but the walls of which are completely sealed. Emptying the cesspool in such a system is carried out only by pumping, using the toilet itself as a receiving funnel.

Powder closet. It is a structure made of a pedestal with a toilet seat. The storage container for collecting sewage, located directly under the toilet seat, is sprinkled with a layer of peat, which has moisture-absorbing properties. A scoop with a bucket filled with a sawdust-peat mixture is installed next to the toilet seat. Every time you visit the restroom, add a portion of fresh peat to the waste tank. After filling the container, it is taken out to compost heap. Due to the mobility and compact design, it can be installed both inside a residential building and in a separate outdoor booth.

Chemical toilet. The type resembles a powder closet; unlike a bio-toilet, the processing and breakdown of sewage in it occurs under the influence of chemical reagents. By using liquids based on biobacteria, waste products can be converted into useful materials organic fertilizer, using as root nutrition for plants.

Choosing a place to build

Of fundamental importance when building a toilet for a summer house with your own hands is the choice of location for its construction. It is strictly regulated by the provisions of the current regulatory documents, according to which:

  • The distance of the toilet to the water intake well, well or reservoir should be at least 25-30 meters.
  • The restroom must be at least 12 meters away from the residential building.
  • Cesspools must be reliably insulated.
  • When choosing a location, take into account the terrain and wind direction.
  • When lying on the site groundwater at a depth of up to 2 meters, you can only install a dry closet, a chemical toilet or a powder closet.
  • If groundwater occurs at a depth of 2.5 meters or more, it is possible to build a toilet with a cesspool or a backlash closet.

Following these precautions will help prevent exposure to Wastewater into drinking water.

Drawing up a diagram - drawing and determining dimensions

Before starting construction of an outdoor restroom, it is necessary to determine the dimensions of the future structure. The first step is to create a diagram or drawing. The shape and design of the future house is limited only by the imagination and capabilities of the master. It can be an ordinary house, a nice little mansion or an original hut. If desired, options for drawings of country toilets can be found on the Internet on thematic forums.

The most popular is the classic house with a cesspool. The most optimal sizes can be considered:

  • Height from 2 to 2.3 meters;
  • Length 1.5 -1.7 meters;
  • Width 1-1.2 meters.

Tip: Detailed diagram-drawing with exact dimensions will allow you to correctly calculate the dimensions of the structure and volume necessary materials, thereby warning possible mistakes and unnecessary expenses.

Construction of a cesspool

At the site where the outdoor toilet is installed, a cesspool is dug, giving it a square or round shape. The depth of the septic tank pit should not exceed 1.5 meters, and its diameter should not exceed 2.5 meters. But as practice shows, cesspools that have a round shape are more functional. They are characterized by increased strength and can withstand heavy loads and pressure.

Tip: When digging a hole, it is better to use a shovel with a short handle. With such a tool it will be easier to turn around in tight spaces. A crowbar or pick is useful when digging in tougher soil such as gravel, heavy clay or limestone.

Digging a hole the right size, compact its base. Instead of tamping, the bottom can be lined with a bed of gravel. To ensure the necessary sealing of the device, the walls of the pit are lined with brickwork, or concrete rings are installed.

The brickwork is strengthened reinforced mesh or fittings. All joints are carefully sealed cement mortar followed by installation of a waterproofing layer. This allows you to protect the crop from impurities and preserve The groundwater from pollution.

Construction of a toilet house

The easiest way is to build a toilet house from wood. It is better to use three-meter wooden beams, or metal or concrete pillars as support for the future structure.

Materials and tools for building a toilet:

  • Wooden beams with a section of 100x100 mm and 50x50 mm;
  • Edged boards or fiberboard for cladding;
  • Floor boards for arranging the floor area;
  • A 1.5 meter piece of roofing felt;
  • Hacksaw and plane;
  • Garden drill;
  • Building level;
  • Self-tapping screws, nails, hammer.

Along the perimeter of the structure using garden borer make four holes about one meter deep, the diameter of which is 2-3 cm larger size support pillars.
One end of each pipe is treated bitumen mastic which prevents rotting and corrosion. The columns are immersed in the holes one by one, deepening them to 90-100 cm and fixing them with cement mortar. When the solution acquires sufficient strength, you can proceed to the construction of walls.

Tip: The posts for the rear wall of the house are made a little lower to provide a slope for the roof. At all stages of installation, it is necessary to control the vertical installation of the racks using a building level.

Beams for the door are installed parallel to the supporting posts. To add strength to the structure around the perimeter vertical racks The upper and lower trims are made from beams of the same size.

Construction of walls and installation of doors

To provide waterproofing between the frame and columnar foundation roofing felt is laid, on top of which a platform-floor is knocked together from edged boards.

Important: To extend the service life wooden elements houses, they should be treated with a moisture-repellent and antiseptic composition, which can be purchased at any hardware store.

At a height of about half a meter, perpendicular bars are installed, which will serve as the basis for attaching the toilet seat. Stepping back one meter from the back wall, a second jumper is made at the same level to arrange the seat. The seat base is covered with chipboard or boards. The hole in the seat is cut out using a jigsaw, and all corners are cleared of burrs with a plane. For waterproofing the front part of the toilet seat inner wall You can use thick polyethylene film.

The finished frame remains to be sheathed fiberboard sheets or wooden edged boards 20 mm thick. The boards can be placed both horizontally and vertically, securing them to the frame with screws or nails. If desired, the walls of the house can be insulated with mineral wool or sheet foam.

At this stage of work, it is worth taking care of arranging a ventilation window, which in parallel will serve as a natural light.
The door block can be purchased ready-made or built with your own hands. It is installed so that it opens outwards and is framed with a platband. Latches are installed both inside and outside the toilet.

Roof arrangement

The roof can be made from any material you like roofing material: galvanized iron, tiles, slate, polycarbonate or simple edged boards. The boards are laid overlapping, secured with roofing screws.

The light to the toilet can be installed from the nearest building by throwing a two-wire aluminum wire and installing a socket with a light bulb with a power of 40-60 W. An excellent alternative to stationary lighting can be an LED, which does not require laying a cable. LED on a small battery capable of illuminating small room, enough for the whole season.

Simple DIY country toilet: video

Building a toilet with an original design with your own hands: photo

The dream of a city dweller is to buy a country house where you can relax from the hustle and bustle. Well, now you are the owner of the site and the most in demand part is the toilet. What if it’s not there?

But there is a way out - to build a toilet with your own hands, using improvised means, creating your own drawing. Provide with your own hands comfortable conditions for accommodation.

How to make a toilet in the country?

A string of questions immediately arises in my head: what drawing to choose, what design to give, what materials will be used. In this article we will reveal the basis and rules for developing your project.

Main types of booths

First, let's figure out what types of structures exist. The simplest type, a building with a cesspool.

But before we begin, we take into account the sanitary standards that apply in Russia: think about the cleaning method and proper waterproofing. Check your neighbors' requirements to avoid conflict situations.

You can make a toilet in your country house using several options.

We list the types of buildings:

  • The birdhouse is an economical version with a pitched roof located on a box. Summer option;
  • Hut - complex design with a large selection of designs, keeps you warm in the cold. Requires more material costs;
  • Hut - simple form With gable roof, wind-resistant model;
  • The house is a structure with increased strength, a warm option;
  • Double rooms - complex construction with a second section;
  • Toilet with shower - an additional extension for washing is attached to the main booth;
  • A dry toilet can be installed even inside the house. Biotoilets are gaining popularity, since there is no special fuss with them.

There are three types of dry toilets: peat, chemical and electric models. This is the first aid option when construction is underway.

Then you can proceed to a major toilet with a reliable septic tank that will serve for years.

Where to start construction?

A summer resident needs a toilet that is hygienic, clean and pleasing to the eye, while respecting the environmental situation, neutralizing waste, and meeting the requirements for external design.

Capital septic tank with a complex of tanks in the ground

To do this, they most often do three concrete rings, which are immersed in the ground one by one. The upper ones become settling tanks, the third filters sewage that goes into the ground without causing harm to groundwater.

Such septic tanks contain anaerobic bacteria that process waste and neutralize harmful bacteria.

You are faced with the following tasks:

  • choose a system for draining, draining and disposing of sewage;
  • determine the location for the toilet and it is better to choose one remote from the house;
  • decide which type of structure is suitable, discussed above;
  • choose a design that you can make with your own hands;
  • select suitable materials;
  • determine the size of the toilet in the country;
  • calculate construction cost estimates.

Decide for yourself how you will clean the waste pit if you do not install a septic tank. How can a sewage disposal truck drive up and pump out sewage?

Have you decided and answered the questions? Now we can start construction, let's take it step by step.

Practice: start of construction

We have decided on the location and will select the desired design. Builders have already developed a certain gold standard of size, the ratio: 2.2x1x1.4 m.

Look at the photo of the country toilet. Having decided on the form, let’s prepare the necessary tools:

Note!

  • hammer drill, which can be replaced with a crowbar, for breaking hard ground;
  • a shovel, preferably with a short handle, so it’s easier to dig;
  • container for waste pit, optimal capacity 200 l;

If you use electrical appliances, take care of the power source.

Make drawings of a country toilet or use the data in the drawing. Consider installing ventilation and insulation. Let's start construction with a waste pit.

First stage - pit

We will dig a deep waste pit for sewage. Standard form square, depth not less than 2 m. Be sure to strengthen the walls after digging, you can use reinforced concrete material, boards, or make masonry from stone or brick.

We ensure the bottom of the pit is airtight, fill it with crushed stone or make a concrete screed.

If there is a risk of contaminating groundwater, we will make the walls and bottom waterproof and seal it with special material.

Note!

Second stage - frame

The pit has been prepared, we will begin to build a protective external structure. The prepared frame must be secured; it is better to make it wooden. Let's make markings and drill holes in which we install support pillars. They will provide durability for future construction.

The foundation itself is necessary if you visit the country house all year round, to serve for a long time. First, it must be deepened, then bricks or blocks should be placed in the corners; waterproofing will be provided by a roofing material overlay.

Place the material between the prepared frame and the foundation. Immediately begin installing the bottom frame to prevent the roofing felt from drying out from the sun's rays.

Lay the floor, prepare the seat skeleton in place and attach it. Nail the façade frame to the posts. After covering the toilet seat, make a hole.

Now sheathe the facade of the toilet directly; you can choose lining, corrugated sheets, siding and other materials for this. Install the roof sheathing and place any slate or metal roofing on it.

Note!

Finish by hanging the door on hinges and wooden outdoor toilet almost ready.

The third stage - ventilation

To unpleasant odors didn’t bother you, we will develop a ventilation system in the toilet structure. We use for this plastic pipe with a diameter of 100 mm.

Let's take tin clamps and pull it to the hole made in the roof of the building. The lower end of the pipe must be carried 15 cm into the waste pit, cutting a hole of the required diameter into the seat.

The deflector attachment will additionally help increase traction. There is nothing complicated in construction; anyone can build a simple toilet.

DIY toilet photo

Of fundamental importance when constructing a toilet on summer cottage has a choice of location, which is regulated by the provisions of current regulatory documents.

In particular, the distance from the toilet to water sources (well, well) has been determined, which cannot be less than 25 m and must be located in a lowland.

Much depends on the occurrence of groundwater: the lower the level, the smaller the cesspool will have to be made.

A cesspool may generally be an unacceptable option if the groundwater level is high at the site chosen for the construction of a toilet. It is necessary to observe how the wind rose develops and determine its main direction in order to specific odors did not create problems either on yours or on neighboring plots.

The boundary distance is set strictly according to current standards, which should be studied in advance, and construction should be carried out in full accordance with them. Otherwise, you may have to destroy the building and start all over again.

How to make a toilet in the country - preparatory stage

After determining the location for building an outdoor toilet, you can start selecting the design. There are recommendations regarding optimal sizes toilet, the height, width and depth of which are respectively 2.2 x 1 x 1.4 meters.

As for the shape, everyone chooses their own option; among the most common, a yard toilet is a mansion, a house or a hut.

For execution necessary work materials and tools should be purchased if they are not available on the farm. You will need:

  1. shovel with a short handle;
  2. a crowbar, or better yet a solid hammer drill (in the presence of heavy soil);
  3. barrel or other container of 200 liters for cesspool; you can also use a standard well ring with a diameter of 1 m;

A shovel with a short handle is useful for digging a hole in which it is not easy to turn around with a longer tool. Hard soil (limestone, heavy clay, pebbles, etc.) will require a hammer drill, crowbar or pick. For an electric tool, prepare a connection to a power source.

You can, of course, buy a ready-made toilet from among those offered construction stores, but it will be more interesting to do it yourself. First of all, you need to make a sketch and drawing, not forgetting about ventilation and insulation. Then you can independently build a simple structure from the materials left over from the construction of a summer house or house, or purchase sandwich panels.

Before starting to build a toilet, you need to prepare a cesspool. Its depth dimensions depend on the presence of groundwater and its level. The diameter is determined arbitrarily; there are no special recommendations in this regard.

Work should begin in good weather, when there is no rain. It is advisable to get to the sand so that all liquid fractions can quickly be absorbed into it.

The pit must be thoroughly cleaned, leveled and its bottom compacted. Then a barrel made of any metal or plastic is directly installed, although it should be borne in mind that the service life of such a pit will not be very long.

Concrete rings for a cesspool look much preferable. Of course, this cannot be done without the use of a crane. No worse is the storage equipment by laying stone or brick, which is reinforced with reinforcement or reinforced mesh, followed by the installation of a waterproofing layer and plastering. The conditions for future use of the toilet will suggest an acceptable option for the cesspool.

How to make a wooden country toilet - the design process

The actual construction of the toilet house begins with marking and drilling holes where the posts will be located, acting as supports.

Toilet foundation

If the toilet is used throughout the year, it is necessary to make a foundation deepened below the point to which. Typically a rectangle shape is used.

Toilet frame

In our case, it is mounted from wood, preferably from timber, selected according to predetermined dimensions. The external cladding of the structure may not be enough, so it is necessary to strengthen the frame from the inside with braces or gussets.

Toilet seat for country toilet

The cross beams are mounted at a height of about half a meter - they will be used as a base for the toilet seat.

Roof for toilet

Since the toilet has small dimensions, it is possible to lay the roof without using logs. For roofing, materials can be used with virtually no restrictions. The only consideration that should be taken into account is that it is desirable to create a single architectural ensemble on the site. Then for the roof of the toilet you need to use the same material as for the house. The last note concerns the tile covering, which requires strengthening the roof frame.

Wall cladding and flooring

For lining the toilet inside and out, ordinary clapboard or any other available material is quite suitable. Next, the door is hung, and the floors are laid, which can be made of wood to suit your taste, followed by painting, or laid on concrete base ceramic tiles.

Exhaust ventilation

Usually located on back wall structures, the ventilation pipe must be installed above the roof level. Today, a year-round toilet is even equipped with a small heating area.

You should not neglect the rules during the construction of a country toilet, even if it is a simple construction, nevertheless, it is very important.

As practice shows, you can build a toilet on your summer cottage on your own, without resorting to outside help.

One of the options for how to build a toilet house for a summer house on your own is step by step photos, which the craftsman shared on the house and dacha forum.

Step-by-step instructions for beginners with no experience in construction.

Scheme and drawing of a country toilet

A toilet in a country house is an integral part of comfort and a full-fledged existence. When purchasing a completely clean plot of land, the first thing we install is this structure. This is not only natural, but even necessary. The construction of this building does not require any special projects. Anyone who is even a little familiar with carpentry tools can build country toilet with your own hands. Let's look at this process in detail step by step. Now there are many modern alternatives to a stationary structure, we will also talk about some of them below.

At the dacha you can do without many convenient, important structures: a shed, a swimming pool, a cellar, a barbecue oven, but you can’t do without a toilet.

When starting work, you need to consider many factors. The most important thing is sanitary and hygienic standards. Your toilet should not create inconvenience to neighbors, so the location of the building, competent arrangement cesspool, ventilation should be worked out during design.

Country toilet, photo:

The equipment of the cesspool and the method of cleaning it are also important nuance, which directly depends on the location of groundwater. If the groundwater is located high, then you will have to look for alternative options, since you cannot make a hole. If the groundwater flow is low, the pit must be extremely airtight.

Country toilet - design options

The simplest and most common option is a wooden restroom. Even a beginner can build it; it will be inexpensive in terms of the cost of building materials. If desired, this design can be easily moved. To cover the frame, boards, clapboards, and chipboard sheets are used; if you have some imagination, you can sometimes get quite nice options. Simplest, cheap option- a closet made of planks.

Design, photo:

More solid structure metal sheets erected in two ways.

The first option - the same sheets are sheathed wooden frame, in the second - the base of the frame is made of metal pipes, to which sheets of iron or slate are subsequently attached. Shaded part of the area - the best place for such a toilet, since in the summer the sun will heat the metal, causing you discomfort when visiting. The inside of such a building can be sheathed with polystyrene foam or polystyrene foam.

A stationary brick building will require more construction time, as well as construction skills from the developer. Here you need to think through in detail how to clean the cesspool and the possibility of convenient access (for example, a sewer truck) to the building.

Toilet country house type"Backlash-closet" has no significant differences from stationary option, the whole feature is the design of the cesspool. At the same time, its walls and bottom must be sealed, and it itself must have an elongated shape.

This feature will improve the optimization of the waste disposal process, more convenient installation sewer hoses. A significant “minus” of “Lyuft-closet” type restrooms is the impossibility of using them during winter.

Country peat toilet belongs to alternative options closets. In this case, the waste is immediately covered with peat, and when sewer tank is filled, it is taken out, and the processed contents are removed. Learn more about operational features peat toilets will be written below.

Requirements for the construction of a country toilet

There are many nuances associated with the construction of a latrine; you need to take into account the direction of the winds, the possibility of unhindered access of a sewage truck to the building, and the distance from the cesspool to the point with water (no more than 25 meters). If there are other buildings nearby, the distance from them to the toilet should be at least 5 meters. Often closets are installed at a distance. But so that to the border neighbor's fence was at least 1 meter. Make sure that when opening toilet door the neighbors couldn't see anything.

A country toilet with a cesspool is a solid structure that should be relatively spacious. The most common, convenient options buildings are a “birdhouse” and a “hut”. If you want to have room to spread out, the birdhouse type is suitable for you.

If we consider the building from the point of view of the impact of precipitation, then the “hut” type wins here.

The entire “attack” of rain and snow will fall on the roof, which at the “hut” reaches almost to ground level, while the walls will remain dry.

Both types of buildings allow you to equip a country toilet without a cesspool by placing a removable tank at the base of the building or not far from it, where waste will be collected. This can be a welded metal container, a special bucket, a suitable plastic tank or a wooden tank with peat, tyrsa, sand. Having a foundation is preferable for any type of building.

A cesspool is the main element of a country toilet; in order to determine its volume, you should know that with constant use, approximately 50-60 liters should be allocated per person (calculated for 3 months). As mentioned above, it must be sealed so that sewage does not come into contact with the aquifers of the soil. A well-equipped clay castle (20-30 cm thick) around the pit is an essential requirement when constructing a country toilet.

We build a toilet in a summer cottage with our own hands

If this is your first time building a toilet, please note that wooden structure easiest to build. Wood is relatively inexpensive building material, it is easy to work with, it retains heat well, and is environmentally friendly. Let's look at this option in more detail. To build the frame you will need wooden blocks, a section of 40×40 (or slightly larger) is optimal. Choose the sheathing material according to your taste: lining, standard board or even a block house will look quite appropriate. The roof can be covered with ondulin, slate, roofing felt.

To build a birdhouse type restroom, you can use a standard drawing, or you can use your imagination and develop your own individual version. Typical sizes country toilet: rear wall – 2 meters, facade – 2.30 m, the width of the building must be at least 1 meter, the roof must be pitched, the presence of a cesspool, the base must be at least 1×1 m.

Building materials you will need: solid sand-cement blocks, wooden beam, sand, board, lining (cladding), roofing felt. You will also need crushed brick, profile steel sheet, paint or varnish, door block, hinges, handle, latches, nails. To arrange the frame, it is preferable to choose an edged board made of hard wood (for example, larch, beech), stock up on metal corners and self-tapping screws.

Country toilet, stages of work:

  1. First of all, we proceed to the cesspool, its approximate parameters should be at least 1: 1: 2 m, the dimensions of the cesspool determine the dimensions of the structure itself. We cover the bottom of the pit with crushed bricks or coarse crushed stone.
  2. Sand-cement blocks (they can be replaced with a concrete curb) will be the foundation. We install them in the corners of the pit - this is the foundation of the future frame.
  3. Approximately 4 layers of roofing felt on the blocks - this is the necessary waterproofing.
  4. The wooden frame consists of 4 load-bearing supports (vertical). The bars that are laid lengthwise should extend beyond the boundaries of the closet body by about 35-40 cm. The protruding part in front is the future canopy, the part in the back is the removal of precipitation from the wall of the building. The piping is done at the level of the place where the toilet will be installed. The height of the toilet seat should be comfortable - 40-45 cm from the floor.
  5. For greater strength of the frame, we install diagonal stiffeners on the rear wall, as well as on the side walls of the closet.
  6. The frame of the door block consists of two vertically mounted supports with a horizontal lintel at the top.
  7. We cover the frame with the selected material, lay a board (at least 4 cm thick) on the floor.
  8. We cut a hole in the floor of the appropriate size, the shape can be any.
  9. We install the door block with the door, and cut out a window if desired.
  10. We cover the roof of the restroom with the selected covering (roofing felt, ondulin, slate, etc.).
  11. We cover the structure with paint or varnish.

The installation of a country toilet with a cesspool implies a well-equipped ventilation system. It is important that unpleasant odors from the pit do not stagnate and come out freely. The outlet pipe can be made of any material, but its diameter must be at least 10 cm. Holes of the appropriate size should be cut in the toilet pedestal, like on the roof. The upper end of the pipe must rise above the roof of the building by at least 20 cm. The distances between the pipe and the cutout must be carefully sealed and installed at the top outlet of the pipe. ventilation deflector(it creates traction). The inside of the building can be lined with polystyrene foam or any other suitable facing material.

Country toilet - cleaning the cesspool

There is no such person who would feel comfortable inhaling unpleasant odors. An outdoor (country) toilet, of course, cannot be a source of pleasant aromas, but advanced biotechnologies successfully cope with this problem. Today there are special chemicals that not only block unpleasant odors, but process waste into liquid, oxygen, and carbon dioxide.

Many summer residents do not have the correct information regarding these chemicals, believing that chemicals can harm environment, plants. This is not so - high-quality biological products (such as Vodogray) are absolutely harmless to human health and the environment (confirmed by ISO-9002).

Separately, it is worth mentioning biogranules - a very convenient, necessary invention. Biogranules for pit toilets - reviews are extremely positive, since their microbiological composition includes enzymes and non-pathological bacteria. Biogranules are harmless to the environment, human and animal health, and were awarded the 2001 international medal “Environmentally Safe Products”.

This product destroys bad odors, decomposes feces, toilet paper, while waste products are quickly processed and become a cloudy, odorless liquid. This liquid can subsequently be safely poured, for example, under a tree or other convenient place. The use of biogranules solves the problem of cleaning and pumping out sewage: they not only process the contents of the cesspool, but also reduce its volume at the end of the process.

Before use, water should be poured into the cesspool, and then the drug should be added according to the attached instructions. Every 7 days you should add water and add one sachet of biogranules (25 g). If the cesspool contains a lot of liquid, then you can fill in several bags at once. In the second case, the drug is pre-mixed with water and then poured into the pit. It is worth considering that if you previously poured bleach into it, then ordinary biogranules will not work - such an environment will destroy them. For these cases, there is a special type of drug - “Septic-biogranules”.

Two or three days after applying the product, a kind of film forms on top of the waste, which seems to “preserve” the unpleasant odor inside. Next comes the decomposition process, which can slow down if your cesspool is simply dug, that is, not lined with bricks or protected in any way. However, there will be a positive result in any case. If you want to have an odorless country toilet, then choose biogranules - an environmentally friendly product.

Toilet for a country toilet - which one to choose

The toilet is comfort and convenience. Often in country restrooms you can see ordinary ceramic toilet seats, the same as those installed in city apartments. This is the wrong choice, since most toilet models have a curved flush direction. In this case, the waste is washed away big amount water, so this configuration is acceptable. A toilet for a country toilet, on the contrary, must have a direct “exit” so that the contents are freely sent into the cesspool. In addition, ceramic toilets are very heavy, which is also not very convenient for a country closet.

An excellent alternative for dacha option there will be a special plastic toilet. It is lightweight and does everything necessary functions, it does not have a curved “exit”; it is designed specifically for such street buildings. A country toilet made of durable plastic is relatively inexpensive. The models are quite varied.

If we strive for comfort, then we need to take into account all the nuances, all the little things. Such a nice little thing, especially necessary in winter, will become a warm seat for the toilet. Visiting an outdoor toilet in winter is not very comfortable and is not good for health either. The seat is exactly the part that is in direct contact with our body. The plastic seat holds the cold well, this distinguishes it from a thermal seat made of foamed polypropylene.

The warm seat for a country toilet fits any outdoor closet or toilet. The product is made of hygienic material that retains heat even in severe frost. This invention comes from Finland, and Finns, as you know, know how to deal with the cold. It is very easy to install, does not absorb moisture, is easy to maintain, and is weather resistant. The product has a modern external design and a lid made of the same material. The thermal seat for country toilets is made of an analogue of foam plastic, therefore it is absolutely harmless to human health and the environment.

Peat toilet - an alternative to the usual

Anyone can install such an innovation in their dacha, since such latrines do not imply the presence of a cesspool. This option is excellent when it is not possible to install a permanent structure (high groundwater level). These buildings are characterized by a simplified design - you won’t need much time or effort to install everything. We are talking about peat toilets - an innovation that appeared relatively recently, but has already proven itself positively among summer residents.

Peat toilet, photo:

Models of peat closets are aesthetically attractive design, but if desired, you can “simplify” this device. A removable container is installed under a regular country toilet with a toilet without a cesspool, and a bucket with peat filler is placed next to the toilet seat. He did his job, reached out to the bucket of peat, scooped up the peat mixture with a special scoop, poured it inside the toilet - that’s the whole process.

The operating principle of such a device is to convert sewage into compost (biological decomposition) due to the action of active ingredients. IN peat dry closets This role is performed by peat or peat mixture. Near the toilet there is a box with peat. After the sewage gets inside the corresponding tank, it is sprinkled with this filler on top.

Branded peat toilets are equipped with a special dispenser installed near the upper tank for peat mixture. This is a very convenient device: you pull the handle, a kind of “flushing” occurs - a dose of peat is directed downwards, covering the waste. From this moment, feces begin to break down and absorb liquid, thereby blocking the unpleasant odor. When the container is full, it can be easily emptied, since by this time all waste will have already been processed and become fertilizer.

These devices require easy care: sewage is removed from the storage tank, the tank itself is washed, a new portion of peat substrate is added, the toilet is ready for use again. You can buy it already ready set such a closet, or you can install a wooden structure (as described above) or simply install a ready-made plastic country toilet (you can purchase used dry closet booths at a low price). All you have to do is put a toilet with a removable tank inside the “box” to collect sewage, and clean it periodically.

When the storage tank is one third full, it is recommended to empty it. It is best to store processed waste inside the composter; after some time you use it as fertilizer for your garden.

Peat toilet for a summer house - which one is better?

When purchasing a product, pay attention to the following characteristics:

  1. Dimensions of the product - you should be comfortable using it (the height of the toilet seat is important), the entire device should fit proportionally into the booth.
  2. The volume of the storage container should not be too large or too small. Consider the number of people and the frequency of using the restroom.
  3. If two people will use the toilet, it is too big tank will have to be cleaned half-empty (waste should not remain inside the container for a long time).
  4. Consider the load on the toilet seat, its strength, the thickness of the material should depend on the weight of the heaviest user.

As for the manufacturers of peat toilets, the most positive reviews Products from Russian companies “Kompakt-EKO”, “Piteco”, Finnish country peat toilets “Ekomatic L&T”, “Biolan Komplet”, Swedish composting bioclosets “Mulltoa” were noted. Prices vary depending on the quality and the manufacturer. You shouldn’t skimp on something as necessary as a toilet – good equipment will serve your family for decades, and this is a significant reason.

Whatever type of closet you choose, the main thing is that you feel comfortable using it so that your neighbors don’t complain. How to build a country toilet with your own hands step by step, how to equip a “dry” peat closet, what it should be sanitary requirements to the construction of this building - you now know, which means you can tell other summer residents about it.
