Description and principle of operation

Using a car lock allows you to ensure reliable protection cars from theft. This is achieved thanks to the device’s ability to identify the car owner through wireless technologies, with the help of which it is ensured additional protection ICE. Identification of the owner of the blocker is carried out by identifying a tag that may be in the car owner’s pocket. When a radio tag appears within the range of the transceiver, the immo key automatically exchanges signals with the processing unit.

The procedure for blocking the internal combustion engine is carried out when you start driving with the engine running or the ignition on. If there is no radio tag in the transceiver coverage area and the engine is running, the lock will not turn on if the car is not moving. Thanks to this feature, the consumer can use the blocker to collaboration With various systems remote motor start.

An overview of the device's features is presented by the AvtoPulse channel.

When the processor module detects a tag within the range after ignition activation, the device emits a short beep. If the radio tag is not synchronized with the unit before the start of movement, then alarm pulses will be triggered, indicating that the internal combustion engine will soon be blocked. The motor lock is activated for twenty seconds, and if the car starts to move after the end of the first cycle, it will be activated again.

Every time you try to start the internal combustion engine and start moving, the power unit will be blocked. After the third blocking cycle, the engine cannot be unlocked without the immobilizer tag.

If the consumer has configured an intermittent blocking algorithm, the immobilizer will begin the procedure of simulating problems with the internal combustion engine. The electrical circuit blocked by the device will periodically break and be restored according to a certain algorithm.

Key Features

Features of Starline i95 immobilizer:

  1. Ability to control hood and door locks.
  2. Packet data transmission is carried out at a frequency of 2.4 GHz. To protect the channel it is used special system encoding to prevent hacking and ensure high security.
  3. Protection from robbery. If a car is attacked and the car owner is kicked out of the car, the car’s engine will be blocked when the criminal moves away from the car owner as much as possible. Before blocking the engine, the immo will wait until the car's speed is reduced to 30 km/h or lower. This is achieved thanks to the built-in speed sensor. Moreover, other drivers will be warned about braking by automatically activating the brake lights.

The Miracle of Hostile Technology channel talked about the features of Starline i95 immobilizers.

StarLine i95 immobilizer versions and their technical characteristics

Users have a choice of two device models - Lux and Eco.

Lux

The Lux model is a more advanced version of the i95 blocker. The locking and unlocking procedure is carried out using tags, and there is a Hands Free mode. To activate the option, the driver must appear in the tag’s coverage area. The manufacturer has set up several recognition modes - within a radius of 0.5-1.5 meters, 3-4 meters, and also when the car owner is 15-17 meters from the car.

The main feature of the model is the presence of a remote control keychain equipped with a key and a diode indicator. This device is installed on the instrument panel and is used for emergency password entry.

ECO

This model is considered one of the most affordable. Starline Eco belongs to the category of contactless blockers that allow you to detect a tag in the car owner’s pocket from a distance. If the owner is successfully identified, the immo will unlock the hood lock when it is installed ( we're talking about about electromechanical devices).

Unlike the Starline immobilizer model described above, Eco does not have the Hands Free function, and the package does not include an additional display unit.

  7. Possibility of configuring the main functions of the blocking device using a computer.

The main disadvantage of Starline i95 immobilizers, according to reviews, is high price, for which you can purchase a full-fledged alarm system with an engine blocker.

How to install an immobilizer?

Before installing the blocker, you will need to turn off the ignition, all electrical equipment and power to the on-board network. To do this, the negative terminal is disconnected from the battery under the hood. After disconnection, its connection to the body is not allowed, as this will lead to a short circuit and damage to the battery.

Detailed installation instructions are included with the immobilizer.

Power connection

Power connection features:

  1. The contact element, marked as “GND”, is connected to the vehicle ground. The wire can be connected to any standard bolt installed on the body.
  2. To power the device, the “BAT” contact is used, and there should always be voltage on it. Therefore, this conductor should be connected directly to a battery or other component that is constantly on.
  3. When connecting the Starline i95, the “IGN” contact is connected to the electrical circuit, which receives 12-volt voltage when the ignition and engine are turned on.

Connecting outputs

Contact elements “Lock” and “Unlock” are used to control the central locking or hood locking product.

The main methods of lock control, outputs, signals for opening and closing are given in the table:

The "Input" contact element must be connected to the corresponding limit switch. This connection will provide the ability to monitor the status of the locks on the hood and doors. If they are open, then locking will not occur, so there should be a negative signal on this cable when the hood and doors are open.

The “Output” contact makes it possible to use the blocker in conjunction with external equipment to monitor the presence of the car owner in the cabin.

It works like this:

  1. If the electronic key is not in range or is located far away, the resistance on the wire will be high. Accordingly, the contact must be open.
  2. Activation of the “ground” or negative contact is performed when the owner with the mark is near the transceiver.

Connecting a sound detector

Features of connecting a sound detector:

  1. The “Output” contact must be connected to the negative terminal of the beeper, and the positive terminal to the “BAT” cable on the block.
  2. If necessary, you can connect the LED bulb to the buzzer in parallel. But it is necessary to add a resistor element rated at 1-2 kOhm to the electrical circuit.
  3. When installing, the buzzer must be positioned so that its signals are not muffled and are audible to the driver.
  4. Do not place the beeper next to the blocking module, as this will cause false positives motion controller.

Connecting a universal channel

The “EXT” contact element can be connected to one of the outputs:

  1. Plus on the brake pedal. Used to poll the device before starting to block the engine if the Anti-Theft function is enabled.
  2. Plus the limit switch. Used to determine the status of door locks or hood. Its use is advisable on vehicles with a 12-volt potential on the device, if the described lock products are open.
  3. Negative contact of the touch controller (this controller is not included in the package and is installed separately). With the “Hands Free” option enabled, if the electronic key is within range, central locking will open only after receiving a sensor impulse. The impulse is transmitted to locked doors when the radio tag is removed or the controller is exposed for a long time.
  4. Negative brake light output rated at 400 mA. This element is used to notify other drivers that the vehicle has stopped before the power unit is blocked. Warning light pulses in the cabin are duplicated by brake lights.
  5. Negative output for side lights, rated at 400 mA. This element is used for light indication of automatic opening and closing of door locks. When a locking signal is given, the side lighting devices will blink once. Along with the impulse to open the door locks, the headlights will flash twice.

Manual

According to the operating manual, before using the lock, you must install a working power source in the electronic key. To do this, you need to remove the back cover of the tag and insert the battery into it, taking into account the polarity. The LED indicator will indicate that the device is turned on. If you are programming new electronic keys, you do not need to insert a battery.

Key fob and its activation

Key Programming Guide:

  1. The ignition turns on. You must wait until the immobilizer plays a beep. Then the ignition is turned off.
  2. Then it is activated again, and the blocker should emit a series of sound signals. To unlock, you need to know the code that is indicated on the plastic card. The ignition must be turned off at the moment when the number of sound signals corresponds to the first digit of the password.
  3. The procedure for entering the remaining code characters is similar. The ignition turns on and if the immobilizer accepts the password, three beeps will sound. This indicates that the blocker has entered the emergency unlock menu.
  4. The next step is to enter programming mode. After turning on the ignition, one long beep will sound after twenty seconds. The system turns off while the pulse is playing.
  5. The ignition is turned on again. Seven short sound pulses should be heard, indicating that you have entered the menu for registering new key fobs.
  6. The button on the radio tag is pressed. Keeping it in this state, you need to install a new power source in the key. The key is pressed for three seconds.
  7. If the tag is successfully linked, the LED element on the key will begin to flicker green. The number of blinks corresponds total number programmed key fobs. If the binding is not completed, the LED will glow red.
  8. To return the electronic tag to normal operating mode, you must remove and reinsert the battery.
  9. The actions described in paragraphs 6-7 are repeated for each programmable key.
  10. After completing the task, you must turn off the ignition. All RFID tags must be registered in one binding cycle, and up to four keys can be programmed in total.

Door lock control

When the “Hands Free” function is activated, the doors open when the following events occur:

  • the approach of a car owner with an electronic key to a stationary vehicle (the range is programmable by the user);
  • disabling the ignition system (if this function is previously configured);
  • transition to the immobilizer emergency unlocking menu if the PIN code has been successfully entered;
  • entering service mode.

The door locks are closed when the car owner with the electronic key moves away from the immobilizer control unit. Deactivation occurs when you start driving, if the additional locking function has been previously configured.

If the universal “EXT” channel is used, then the door locks are closed by pressing the presence controller for three seconds for a long time. In this case, the electronic key must be within range.

Signals to open locks when using the “EXT” channel are given if:

  • the hand touch controller is triggered when the radio tag is within the operating radius of the transceiver;
  • the ignition is turned off if the user has configured this function in advance;
  • the emergency unlock menu is entered if the code was entered correctly;
  • the transition to service mode occurs.

Hood lock control

Signals to lock the hood are transmitted to the control unit when the car owner with the tag moves away from the vehicle. In this case, the ignition system must be turned off. Also, the locking product will close when impulses are issued, warning of the impending blocking of the power unit.

The lock is opened if:

  • the ignition in the car is turned on, and the tag is within the range of the transceiver;
  • enters the immobilizer emergency unlocking menu;
  • the car owner with an electronic key falls within the control module’s coverage area;
  • the service mode is entered.

User Andrey Popov, using the example of a Hyundai Grand Starex car, spoke about controlling the Starline i95 blocker.

Service mode

Entering the service mode is done as follows:

  1. A key on the electronic key is pressed and held. The immobilizer must diagnose the specified operating mode and establish communication with the control unit. The RFID tag button is pressed for seven seconds until the LED begins to flicker yellow.
  2. When the light on the mark lights up for 2 seconds, the button is released. The entry into the service mode of the engine blocker will be indicated by a single blink of the LED.

Programming the display module

An additional block is bound like this:

  1. The power cord is connected to the device.
  2. After activation it is made automatic control communication channel. The end of this procedure occurs ten seconds before the LED light bulb stops flickering.
  3. The button on the display unit is pressed and held for three seconds, then it must be released.
  4. If the module is successfully paired, the LED light will blink green. Otherwise the flickering will be red.
  5. To exit the programming menu, the ignition is turned off.

It would seem that there are now enough modern and high-quality immobilizers, but in reality it turns out that you have to choose quite pickily, because not all manufacturers really invest in their projects, preferring to spend more on advertising. One of the very decent options is the Starline i95 Lux model, which boasts not only a good advertising campaign, but also real opportunities, which have already been appreciated by many car enthusiasts.

The Starline i95 Lux model boasts the following strengths, which we could hardly do without:

  • protection against theft based on engine blocking and the need to identify the owner;
  • ability to control the hood lock;
  • effective protection against the most complex methods of intelligent attacks;
  • modern waterproof tag.

ATTENTION! A completely simple way to reduce fuel consumption has been found! Don't believe me? An auto mechanic with 15 years of experience also didn’t believe it until he tried it. And now he saves 35,000 rubles a year on gasoline!

This immobilizer is a new product, which means that really high-quality technical solutions are used here; the manufacturer was able to do a lot to ensure that the cars of the people who chose its equipment were 100% protected. It is not always possible to believe this, because we are accustomed to listening to such laudatory opinions about various techniques, but this is not the case.

Eco version

The Starline i95 Eco version is worthy of attention, which has the following security functions:

  • owner presence signal;
  • warning signals;
  • switching modes.

The most interesting thing is that this immobilizer can simulate an engine malfunction. It’s hard to imagine that you might come across hijackers who know about such features of their work. modern systems. Now immobilizers become a multi-level obstacle to the possibility of car theft.

Technical Excellence

The Starline i95 Lux immobilizer has become a truly modern project. Such a large number positive feedback you could hardly expect such a project. Not surprisingly, it sells very quickly, and car enthusiasts are so amazed by the quality of the system that they cope with everything without difficulty. If earlier such technologies were just emerging, now specialists the highest level can simply ensure that wireless engine locking is provided using this device, that those signals from the ID tag used in the system cannot be intercepted. Conversational authorization is performed at a frequency of 2.4 GHz, which is another advantage of the system.

Besides, great solution became a special waterproof case. This project is comprehensive, integral, one strong point complements another and so on - the result is the most powerful protection of the vehicle against theft. One of distinctive features This series is the ability to block the car hood. This seemingly too simple solution actually works great. The fact is that the inability to penetrate the engine compartment of a car does not allow car thieves to solve some of the problems that stand between them and your car. Even more important is that protective systems becomes larger and, like the layers of an onion, thieves have to spend a lot of time and effort to overcome the defense systems, and they just don’t have time, which means your car is completely safe.

Nice bonuses

The Starline company is a clear leader in this area, which means that if you would like to receive decent support from specialists, then this is where you should turn for it. The instructions for the equipment are not complicated and will allow anyone to understand all the intricacies of the device’s operation. At the same time, the instructions will not answer the question of how to overcome these protective systems, so it will not be the answer to all the problems of hijackers. On the contrary, the instructions will confirm that the hijackers are completely powerless against what the Starline company has created.

If a company puts its heart and soul into its projects, it is much more visible if you pay attention to the little things. For example, these immobilizers use waterproof housing designs, which means that there are no restrictions on their storage and operation, which means you will not worry about the quality of safety, signal transmission, or the ability to transmit commands. There is no reason to worry about the rechargeable battery, the charge of which will last for at least 3 months of constant use. Indeed, immobilizers require very little energy, the signal is sent instantly, so the operating time always tends to zero. If only larger batteries could be placed in this device, the charge would last for years.

Between Lux and Eco

Please note that there are minor differences between the Lux and Eco models. While Eco lacks just a couple of additional features, this version boasts:

  • hood locking and power lock control outputs;
  • moisture resistance of the tag;
  • telematic setup, that is, “in the air”.

If we talk about the Lux model, then this immobilizer received two additional features:

  • “Hands-free” technology, which greatly simplifies the operation of central door locking;
  • very convenient interior modules that allow you to control all systems, as well as a display module.

The complete set of this equipment will delight you with its completeness; everything you need and useful is really here:

  • blocking module;
  • user guide;
  • card with code;
  • sound annunciator;
  • installation and operation manual;
  • tags with batteries.

Right now you have a system in front of you that can guarantee the safety of your car in any situation. You probably already know how easy it is for cars to be hacked without such security systems: it can only take an attacker a couple of tens of seconds. Now you have the opportunity to defend yourself - use it.
