WHAT TO TAKE FROM NATURE FOR AUTUMN DECOR?
- CEREAL SPEAKS(rye, wheat, oats, barley) are best stored during the period of milky-wax ripeness. Dry straw is fragile and brittle, but when steamed in hot water it becomes soft, flexible, and acquires the ability to transform. The stems are cut into segments between the knees, sorted by length, thickness, color and stored in bunches. Before work, dry straw is soaked or steamed to restore its plastic properties. Beautiful dark golden and brown shades of straw can be obtained by ironing with a heated iron.
- LEAVES We collect them in the fall, when they acquire a beautiful color, and dry them in old magazines or iron them through a newspaper (napkin).

- HAZELNUTS, WALNUTS, ACORN AND CHESTNUTS We will stock only mature ones. On hard shells, immediately poke holes (it will be more difficult to do this later). Divide the acorns and chestnuts into pieces in advance and make holes. If the fruits are dry, soak them in cold water for a day, and then store them in a cool place for another day.
- BARK(pine, birch) and branches. Birch bark curls into a tube when it dries. This is a ready-made form (a hollow cylinder is the basis for the body of animals) or a strong expressive accent (sea wave). If smooth bark is needed for work, it is steamed in hot water, then laid out on a flat surface.
- NEEDLES We will collect green ones from different trees, and at the same time we will grab the branches lying on the ground. You will need both cone scales and acorn cups.
- CONES It is better to collect unopened. In a warm room they open quickly, so it is advisable to cover the strong buds with BF glue and leave them to dry vertically. Some of the cones can be opened in advance: left for several days in a warm room. Be aware that open buds will close again if you keep them in water.
- PEBBLES, Wash the shells, sticks, feathers, and fluff thoroughly, dry them and, if desired, color them.
