THE CHIN

We're all told to "keep your chin up" from time to time. The shape of the chin indicates our ability to hold on when times get tough and bounce back from trauma or shock. The chin also shows how well we perceive criticism in our address.

Chin shape is a clear manifestation of individuality.

  • Sensitive to criticism
  • Avoid the fight

You are very sensitive to criticism, it often hurts you. You do not need criticism from the outside, because you are already constantly criticizing yourself. You need from others, rather, moral support and encouragement. You are not aggressive and do not like to compete.

  • Don't like to obey orders

The main thing for you is to follow your ideas and be your own master. And you can achieve anything in your own way. You really don't like it when someone tries to command you. You think that the main thing is to achieve the goal, and the method is your own business. Therefore, you want the task to be thoroughly explained to you before issuing orders.

strongly pointed (especially if it is long and protruding forward)

  • Authoritarianism
  • Goal Priority

Medium Chin, round and moderately prominent indicates a person's balance.

Prominent front chin indicates a passionate desire to be loved, and if this feature is strongly developed, then on the chin, in its lowest part, there is a dimple dividing the chin.

Narrow chin shape, on the contrary, shows a desire to love, generosity and mercy. Those who have this trait are able to satisfy the desire of their partners to be loved, but they can also play an active role in relationships, shaping them at their discretion.

People with flat chins, as a rule, are cold, dry and proud.

Chin large, rounded, thick, double indicates a person in whom sensuality and instincts prevail.

Chin bifurcated and prominent more often belongs to people who are distinguished by eccentricity, absurdity and irritability.

Right jaw angle- Stress resistance, emotional stability, extraversion.

Receding chin- untruthfulness, decrease in diligence, neglect of labor successes.

high chin- responsibility, discipline, sincerity, diligence.

wide chin- masculinity, ineffectiveness, weakening of fantasy, efficiency in business.

Dimples on the chin- interest in work and business efficiency.

Interpreters agree that a pointed chin, as well as a bent, pointed nose, means courage as well as anger. At the same time, a person can easily achieve victory in business.

The combination of chin and eyebrows

Understanding the relationship between different elements of the face plays an important role in physiognomy. The upper part of the face is associated with our thoughts and words, and the lower part with our actions. Therefore, the eyebrows indicate what we think and say, and the chin - how we act on the basis of these thoughts.

Round chin, curved eyebrows

  • Sensitivity and humanity

Your arched eyebrows indicate that you are always thinking about people, and your round chin indicates a desire to help them. You have a warm and friendly nature. Responsive, generous, caring, you are truly a human being.

Round chin, straight eyebrows

  • Pragmatic Humanist

Your straight eyebrows indicate a psychological focus on ideas and ideals, but a round chin indicates that you do not lose sight of the needs and feelings of people.

Round chin, broken eyebrows

  • Uninvited but responsible worker

Your broken eyebrows indicate that you like to keep everything under your control, but a round chin "clarifies" that you are not interested in power over people, but in the conviction - "if you want a job done right, it's better to do it yourself" . You strive for harmonious results.

Rectangular chin, curved eyebrows

  • Focused on the goal
  • follow logic
Pointy chin, arched eyebrows

Pointy chin, straight eyebrows

  • Focused on achieving goals
  • Less concerned with people's feelings

Your straight eyebrows and pointed chin indicate that you care more about ideas and goals than the interests of people. You are firm and responsible in achieving your goals, believing that the common cause is more important than personal interests. Figuratively speaking, you are not afraid to break a few eggs when making an omelette.

Pointy chin, broken eyebrows

  • Insensitivity
  • Cruelty
  • Don't compromise

You don't care about people's feelings and can be very cruel. If your face does not have any softening features such as dimples, a snub nose, wide eyelids or full lips, you can be merciless and do not know pity or sympathy for others when implementing your plans. You do not recognize compromises in relation to ideals or goals and skillfully manipulate any situation to please yourself.

The chin is located in the lower part of the face and is one of the main components that determine its shape. In turn, the shape of the chin depends on the lateral angle of the lower jaw and is determined by the degree of development of the base of the "chin triangle" - an elevation in the anterior part of the chin zone (Fig. 43).

Rice. 43 The width of the chin triangle: a- narrow chin,

b- wide chin

If the angle of the lower jaw is more than 125 degrees and the “chin triangle” is sharp, the lower part of the face belongs to the narrow options (triangular or oval). If the angle of the lower jaw is closer to a straight one (less than 125 degrees), then the chin belongs to the wide options (rectangular or rounded) (Fig. 44).

Rice. 44 Chin shape options

The chin is separated from the lower lip by the chin-labial groove. This is a short and clear depression, clearly visible in males.

From the chin region located on the neck, under the lower jaw, between its base and the hyoid bone, the chin is separated by the chin groove. It passes under the edge of the lower jaw and transmits its transverse furrow. This configuration is clearly visible in thin people and is almost always noticeable in older people, as well as with a slight tilt of the head. In older people, a fold forms, sometimes double, this is the so-called “double chin.” The chin is separated from the cheeks by a thin fold (chin-cheek groove), from the side it is slightly convex. At a young age, it may be absent, but over time it becomes noticeable, especially in older people. In women and young people, the chin has a regular, convex, slightly rounded shape. In men, the chin is more often massive, wide, flat and protruding.

On the convexity of the anterior surface of the chin, there is often a dimple or a vertical furrow. Their presence is associated with the direct adhesion of the skin to the bone structure (Fig. 45c, d).

Rice. 45 Varieties of chins

On a racial basis, chins have their own characteristics. Among the peoples of Australia, the chin is wide, square, the jaw protrudes slightly. Polynesians have a massive lower jaw and an upturned chin. In representatives of the Negroid race, the chin, unlike the lips, protrudes slightly, and in the Mongoloids, it is practically absent. The population of the American continent is characterized by a protruding, well-defined chin. For the peoples of the Mediterranean - also a protruding chin and a high lower jaw, like the inhabitants of England, Iceland, Denmark and northern Germany. The peoples of the Iranian group have a low lower jaw, the inhabitants of Scandinavia have a pointed chin, a wide and low jaw. A low and narrow jaw, with an upturned and high chin, is characteristic of the population of the Adriatic. A small chin is typical of the inhabitants of India and the northeastern regions of Africa.

The chin is important for facial expression and, according to physiognomists, fleshy, full, wide, upturned and protruding forward is considered auspicious. According to the Chinese, such a chin is a "gift of the gods", and testifies to the increased sexuality and unbending will of its owner. A rectangular chin speaks of stubbornness, and a pointed chin speaks of inner kindness. A short, narrow and sloping chin is considered unfavorable. Favorable for women is a full, rounded, protruding somewhat forward, and preferably a split chin.

A tender, fleshy and rounded chin is a sign of sensuality and weakness, while small, unpointed chins are characteristic of timid people. A flattened chin accompanies a cold and dry nature, with refined feelings. The sloping backward chin suggests prudence, prudence and caution (Fig. 45f). A strongly protruding chin, as a rule, is inherent in resolute, strong-willed and stubborn people, with inflated conceit (Fig. 45e).

A wide chin is a sign of pride, arrogance, and sometimes rudeness and cruelty (Fig. 45a); a sharp one symbolizes wit and some cunning of a person (Fig. 45b).

A flat, sheer chin, according to physiognomists, betrays a cold-blooded phlegmatic person (Fig. 45g), a fleshy double chin (Fig. 45h) indicates a balanced, sensual lover of life, not indifferent to food.

A rounded chin with a dimple is evidence of kindness and adornment of Russian beauties from museums and art galleries (Fig. 45c).

Judgment and composure are revealed in a person with a deep vertical fold of the chin (Fig. 45d), such people tend to think over each act a few steps ahead, they are reasonable, but prone to solitude.

The shape and type of the face is complemented by its lateral parts - cheeks. They are in proportion to other parts of the face and determine its general configuration and constitutional type. So, for melancholics, sunken, lean cheeks are typical, and round-faced phlegmatic people are characterized by rounded ones. Smooth, beautifully contoured cheeks testify to the sensuality, tenderness and generosity of a person. Parallel folds on a young face when smiling are considered a sign of frivolity, but dimples on the cheeks, such as those of the people's artist Vera Vasilyeva, characterize the sociability, kindness, and slight irony of their owner's character.

Hair does not belong to the elements of the face, however, it plays an important role in shaping not only the appearance of the face and head, but also has a certain significance as a physiognomic feature. They are hard and soft, straight and curly, curly and fluffy. The quality of hair is determined by genetic predisposition, they contain important information about a person's life, and to a large extent reflect his fate.

Depending on the type of carotene pigment contained in them, they are dark (brunettes), chestnut (brown-haired), blond (blond), fair-haired and, less often, red.

Back in the 12th-13th centuries, astrologers tried to establish the character of a person by their hair. In their opinion: smooth, soft, straight and blond hair is a sign of a timid and peaceful person, and the owner of thick curly hair is a restless, simple-minded and wasteful person.

According to ancient Chinese and modern physiognomists, coarse hair indicates a violent temper, and thin hair is a sign of softness. In China, red-haired people are predicted to die early and have bad luck in life, but dyed and artificially curled hair is a natural exception to this rule.

Owners of straight, bright, soft and shiny hair are considered to be carriers of an auspicious sign, but the color, type, thickness and condition of the hair should be considered in terms of ethnicity. So, residents of a cold and temperate climate are predominantly blond hair, and people in the subtropical and tropical zones are more often dark hair. A modern physiognomist, Italian A. Reposi, who has dark hair, nevertheless, came to the conclusion that dark, straight, coarse and thick hair is characteristic of people who are not very developed spiritually, but hardworking and clean. Blond hair, in his opinion, is more common in people with a mild disposition (among sanguine and phlegmatic people) and capable of learning.

Curly hair is considered a sign of increased sexuality, temperament and cunning of their owner, but they are sociable people and good conversationalists.

People with coarse hair, although they bear an unfavorable sign, are sincere, honest, open and not prone to deceit.

In contrast to the existing idea of \u200b\u200bthe beauty of hair according to their density, from the point of view of physiognomists, not thick, but sparse hair is considered a favorable sign.

The type of hair in men and women has a different combination of values that characterize human nature. So, men with dark straight hair have a commitment to order and the habit of relying only on their own strength. They are pedantic, but often boring. Men with dark curly hair are devoid of cunning, jealous, not indifferent to the weaker sex and temperamental. A person with such hair is often choleric or sanguine.

Women with dark, straight hair are more temperamental than those of men and they change moods faster. The dark and curly hair of a woman betrays her stubbornness in achieving the goal, often with the use of cunning.

Men with blond and straight hair are more phlegmatic in temperament. They are not characterized by impulsiveness and with a firm belief in the idea - they go to it stubbornly, purposefully, and sometimes with fanaticism and cruelty. Such men are prone to pride and selfishness. Light wavy hair is inherent in romantic natures. These curly blondes easily converge with people, they are the soul of the company, but in addition to charm, they have an eccentric character.

Women with blond and straight hair are considered spiritual and dreamy natures, they are slightly phlegmatic and often weak in character. A precious frame of a beautiful face is blond wavy hair, often belonging to thin romantic and easily vulnerable natures. Strong personalities, both male and female, are given out by blond, thick and coarse hair.

Red hair at different times was considered a good, but more often an evil sign. In ancient times, because of their "devilish devilry" and alleged witchcraft power, red-haired girls with curly hair ended up at the stake. Nowadays, this is a sign of increased attention not only to the unusual hair color, but also to the inherent strong-willed qualities and extraordinary mindset of their owners.

For red-haired men, a characteristic feature is their good nature and shyness, but in combination with thin lips and a hooked nose, they appear malicious and cunning people.

If it is necessary to change their appearance, and sometimes the whole way of their previous life, women begin these changes with their hair: they change their color, length, styling. This fact proves the influence and significance of the external "crown" of the face on its configuration, proportions, expressiveness and perception. The most beautiful wig on the head of a mannequin cannot be compared in perception with a similar hairstyle of a girl shining with happiness, expressing her inner sublime state.

It is believed that long, flowing hair is worn by romantic, dreamy natures, collected in a "tail" - purposeful and energetic. Sentimentality and some coquetry are given out by curled long hair.

Fanciful and intricate hairstyles are preferred by girls who do not want to put up with the everyday life, who love variety and want to stand out.

Girls prefer short haircuts to a sporty style of clothing, while men with a short haircut with a comb back or on the right side hide their conservatism. A clear parting emphasizes firmness of character, prudence and caution.

The artistic “chaos” on the head and tousled hair give out the cheerful disposition of a good-natured guy, and the “hedgehog” haircut is stubborn.

Long hair on the head is inherent in spiritualized personalities, and gathered at the back of the head in a bun - arrogant men prone to narcissism.

It should be noted that the main purpose of the hairstyle is to give the face proportionality, expressiveness, attractiveness, but it should not distract from the perception of especially beautiful parts of the face and smooth out visual imperfections. With skillful hair styling, you can hide a girl’s high forehead, a wide or elongated face configuration, smooth out a protruding chin or a sloping forehead.

With age, the volume, color, density and condition of the hair on the head changes, gray hair and baldness appear. In Chinese physiognomy, a sign of hair density and early baldness is considered unfavorable. The reason for these changes is the aging of the endocrine system and changes in the production of sex hormones. The first signs of graying appear on the beard, mustache or temples at the age of 40-45, by the age of 50 the hair of the head turns gray, at 60-80 years - eyebrows. Gray hair in the hair is formed as a result of the disappearance of the pigment and the appearance of air bubbles.

Limited vegetation is characteristic only for humans, in other mammals the entire head is covered with hair. A person has clear boundaries, the so-called hairline - on the forehead and in the lower part of the occipital region. The skin on which hair grows is divided into two areas - central and peripheral. The latter is located in the form of a crown, the contour of which is determined by the hairline. Its shape is purely individual: in front, the contour can be almost rectangular, concave, convex towards the forehead (more common in women), it can consist of two halves, and be far from the forehead, it can have the shape of the letter "M".

On each side of the head, the hairline is a curved forward curve that envelops the temple, the auricle and reaches the mastoid process of the temporal bone. In men, in a short area in front of the ear, the hair may be connected to the beard. In women, hair does not grow beyond the zygomatic arches (Fig. 46).

Rice. 46 Male hair growth zone

It is estimated that there are approximately 100,000 hairs on the head of an adult male (blonds have more), that is, about 300 hairs per square centimeter. The duration of the existence of the hair is from 3 to 5 years, and depends on race, gender, individual characteristics and health status. Having reached a certain length (the hair grows by 10-20 centimeters per year), the hair loses its viability, the bulb atrophies. The old hair falls out and a new one begins to form in the same follicle.

The final hair loss (baldness) is a consequence of heredity and hormonal disorders. Racial features also play an important role: for example, representatives of the Negroid and Mongoloid races are practically not threatened with baldness.

Rice. 47 Stages of hair loss (Hamilton scale)

The beginning of the appearance of bald patches from the side of the forehead among the Chinese is considered a favorable sign, and from the center of the head (crown) - unfavorable.

Facial hair (mustache and beard) is largely determined by gender and race. In men, its presence is considered as a secondary sexual characteristic. In representatives of the Caucasian race, compared with dark-skinned and yellow-faced people, the vegetation is more abundant and is characteristic of the cheeks, chin and the area above the upper lip (mustache). Hair growing on the ears with age is considered a sign of longevity and intelligence, but not a sign of perseverance. The symbol of masculinity is the beard, and the tougher it is, the sexier and more energetic the man.

The lateral surfaces of the face determine the cheekbones, angles of the lower jaw and cheeks, which in turn determine the shape of the face and head of a person (Fig. 48).

Rice. 48 Face Shapes

expressiveness zygomatic bones, as well as a narrow section of the eyes, are characteristic of the Mongoloid race and some East Asian peoples. In ancient China, cheekbones were considered "bones of strength and power" and served as an indicator of the level of power. According to their severity, they judged the imperious qualities of a person and the level of political, military and financial abilities of a person.

The cheeks occupy the lateral parts of the face, have a plastic structure and consist of three layers: skin, subcutaneous and muscular. The general configuration of the face depends on the degree of their severity and development.

In people of normal build, the cheeks have a regular, slightly convex shape. In overweight people, they are fleshy, in thin people, on the contrary, they are sunken in the middle part, a contrast is clearly visible with the clearly defined outlines of the zygomatic bone and lower jaw.

The outline of the zygomatic bone depends on individual and racial characteristics. High and protruding cheekbones give the face a flat look. In obese people, adipose tissue smoothes the outlines of the cheekbones. In elderly and thin people, the cheekbones stand out noticeably, this impression is reinforced by a depression in the area of the canine fossa.

The naso-chin fold, more or less manifested when smiling and laughing, connects the lateral surface of the nose with the cheek, it goes along the wing of the nose in an oblique direction down and to the side. Its depth is individual, but on a mobile face it becomes constant over time.

In older people, additional folds and grooves may appear, which is associated with a loss of skin elasticity and age-related changes in the subcutaneous layer. They can go along or across relative to the main folds: nasolabial, chin-labial and chin.

The zygomatic arch runs in a horizontal direction: from the zygomatic bone to the tragus and temporomandibular joint and determines the width of the face. In ancient China, it was called "horse bone", and the owners of such bones were predicted to have longevity and very great military and state power. The prominent representatives of these prophecies were: Chiang Kai-shek and Deng Xiaoping. In obese and young people, it is not conspicuous, but in thin and elderly people it is clearly outlined.

The posterior part of the cheek imperceptibly passes into the ear-maxillary region, which has a rectangular shape. At the top, it is limited by the zygomatic arch, behind - the posterior edge of the lower jaw branch, below - the base of the lower jaw, near the cheek - the anterior edge of the masticatory muscle.

The skin covering the face, in comparison with the skin of other parts of the body, is thinner, but firm and elastic. Skin color depends on the presence of the coloring pigment melanin and is divided into three types: light, medium and dark. In each type, pinkish, light brown, yellowish shades are distinguished; medium is olive yellow and in the dark type are variants of brown and reddish hues. There are achromatic (colorless) and chromatic (color) colors. All colors differ from each other in lightness, tone, saturation, and are divided into warm - with an admixture of yellowness (the color of fire) and cold - with an admixture of blueness (the color of ice). The color tone depends on the relief of the skin, which reflects the light flux in different ways and affects the color perception of the face. The relief of the skin is determined by the number and size of the excretory ducts of the sebaceous and sweat glands and the mouths of the hair follicles. According to these features, porous, slightly porous and smooth skin is distinguished. Smooth skin reflects more light and is perceived as lighter, while porous skin scatters light and is perceived as darker.

What does the shape of the chin say about the character?

Today I invite everyone who is interested in the topic - physiognomy. In the last article, I talked about how the shape of a person’s nose and his character traits are related. Now let's go down a little lower and look at the chin.

The chin protruding forward under the first incisor of the teeth (Fig. 1) means the desire for marriage. Such people prefer a partner with the same temperament as his. And then between people there is what we call intimacy.

The chin, protruding forward a little further, behind a sign of closeness (Fig. 2), speaks of a desire to be loved. This symptom is usually most common among men. When it is strongly pronounced, the chin gives rise to protrusions on either side of its center. This gives the appearance of the chin and other features refinement.

The desire to love is expressed in a narrow rectangular chin; it is most pronounced in women (Fig. 3). Tender feelings depend largely on this ability to love, a sign of which is such a chin. Those who have this sign strongly want to give pleasure to those who wish to be loved, through something opposite to sex. All this speaks of mercy. If the owner of this sign is a woman, then she inclines modest people to marry her, mainly her own circle, equal to her in birth and condition.

The wide front of the chin, on the contrary, speaks of a trait opposite to the desire to love; the chin, expanding under the fang of the jaw (Fig. 4), speaks of the ability to be violent in love. Such a square chin belongs to courageous faces and accompanies unhealthy passions: jealousy, suspicion, embellishment of reality and deceit. This sign is found in the mentally ill on the basis of love experiences.

The wide lower jaw under the first two small molars (Fig. 5) indicates the ability for passionate love. Together with a sign of violent love, this gives the jaw a rounded outline and speaks of strong feelings; such signs are more pronounced in women than in men. These abilities are manifested most of all in hugs and kisses and are shown not only by the width of this part of the chin, but also by the width and fullness of the scarlet surface of the lips.

The width of the lower jaw under the wisdom teeth (Fig. 6) means fidelity in love. This gift makes a person make promises and accept souvenirs, such people remain faithful to memories and marital vows and passionately desire to bear children in marriage. People who have this sign clearly expressed will never break someone else's marriage by taking away a partner, and they don’t change their own for a more suitable one. The passion to be loved here is the main stimulus to love yourself and be creative and faithful.

The chin protruding far forward speaks of the desire for kinship of souls and exceptional passion (Fig. 7).

Throwing the head to the side also speaks of the desire to be loved and the ability for violent love (Fig. 8)

The length of the chin, beveling downwards under the fangs, speaks of willpower (Fig. 9). Pronounced, such a sign indicates a great firmness of character. These are people who value the position in society that they themselves have achieved. Children with such signs have suffered many blows of fate in their lives, and, in the best case, become heroes in the future. These children tend to repeat often: "I will do what I want."

The length of the lower jaw under the second molar (Fig. 10) speaks of persistence. People who have such a sign are pronounced, very persistent, stubborn in everything, no matter what they undertake, they do not tend to rest until the work is completed. This trait is pronounced in good students, naturalists, astronomers, and mathematicians.

The length of the lower jaw, descending below the front incisor (Fig. 11), one can judge the determination of a person. People who have such a sign are very energetic.

When such a gift of determination is small (Figure 12), then people have little efficiency and energy.

Stability can be judged by the base of the lower jaw and the straightness of the neck (Fig. 13).

A long windpipe with a larynx, with an arched front of the neck (Fig. 14) speaks of such a trait as independence. If this feature is not very pronounced, then such people still have some freedom of thoughts and feelings. While at the same time relying blindly on others. People with a pronounced such trait remain firm and unshakable when there are attempts to divert them from their intended task.

Someone believes that our facial features reflect our character, someone considers this complete nonsense. But here's one observation: for some reason, people who are able to quickly determine what a person is usually have a good memory for faces.

The face reflects the character of a person through the look, the pattern of wrinkles, the corners of the lips. But even his individual features have long been endowed with special personality traits, as evidenced by popular phrases and sayings: an intelligent forehead, honest eyes, a strong-willed chin. This article is devoted to the latter.

Types of chins

Physiognomists distinguish the following types of chins:

  • Forked. Testifying to the passion of nature.
  • Tilt back. Characterizes patient and compliant people.
  • Double. Gives out lovers of voluptuousness.
  • Oval. Characteristic for creative natures.
  • Round. characteristic of good organizers.
  • Pointed. Inherent in cunning and insincere people.
  • Square. It testifies to the strength of character and the presence of stubbornness.

The last option is the answer to the question: what does a strong-willed chin look like? Obviously, the more he pushes forward and seems more powerful, the more powerful personality appears before people. It is difficult to negotiate with this person. Therefore, in dealing with him, it is preferable to use decisiveness, strength and fearlessness.

Influence of installations

Modern psychology classifies physiognomy as a pseudoscience that does not have an evidence base. At the same time, he recognizes the influence of social attitudes on the human personality. Perceiving the appearance and behavior of another person, everyone endows him with character traits based on stereotypes that have developed in society. The scientist A. A. Bodalev in his experiments clearly demonstrated this phenomenon.

Two groups of subjects were shown a portrait of the same person. They were asked to give him an oral description. Only the first group was presented with a criminal, and the second - a famous scientist. As a result of the experiment, two mutually exclusive variants of the characteristic were obtained. The criminal appeared as a cruel person with a suspicious look and a massive jaw, indicating ruthlessness. The eyes of the scientist seemed tired to the second group, the facial expression was intelligent, and its lower part testified to perseverance and perseverance. This confirms the idea that a strong-willed chin is a certain stereotype of perception that has developed in society.

Concept spread

The chin is responsible for the shape of the face as a whole, completing its lower part. Each race has its own characteristics in its structure. So, Negroids are distinguished by slightly developed chins, Mongoloids - by their almost complete absence. And representatives of the white race have the most pronounced lower part of the face. The most developed jaw, influencing its shape, is in the Americans. It is they who are closest to the ideal of what people invest in the concept of "strong-willed chin."

It is believed that it was the Americans who largely contributed to the spread of this term. Hollywood actor Spencer Tracy (1900-1967), who played gangsters at the beginning of his career, replaced the "American jaw" with a more glamorous concept, endowing his characters with masculinity and strong-willedness instead of arrogance and rudeness. With his light hand, a prominent chin became a sign of a real man, which began to influence the perception of others.

Male features

A strong-willed chin in men is often combined with large facial features: developed superciliary arches, a wide nose and protruding cheekbones. It is typical for people of an athletic build, in which broad shoulders with a convex chest rise above narrow hips. Against the background of a well-developed trapezius muscle, the neck also seems more massive. Long arms, large bones of the skeleton and developed muscles indicate strength and a certain amount of aggression. Such men make either good athletes or leaders.

Male athletes are distinguished by a developed logical thinking, a strong character and the ability to withstand the pressure of others. Public opinion associates them with real masculinity and attributes to them the following character traits: confidence, determination, physical endurance, competitiveness, perseverance. Often they are condemned for being thick-skinned, aggressive, or, conversely, passivity. But it has been noticed that during the period of increasing hormonal levels (ovulation), women subconsciously choose men who have a strong-willed chin.

Outstanding Representatives

Various world publications regularly rank the most beautiful and sexiest men on the planet (Heart world, Life). Looking at portraits of celebrities, it is easy to understand what a strong-willed chin means. This is an invariable attribute of all sex symbols of our time. It is possessed not only by actors who traditionally act in action films - Steven Seagal, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dolph Lundgren. But also handsome George Clooney, Robert Pattinson, Justin Timberlake.

The picture is similar among Russians. Sex symbols from Nikolai Eremenko to Vasily Stepanov (blockbuster "Inhabited Island") - the owners of an outstanding lower face. Among the legendary politicians, whose contribution to history has been confirmed by time, there are also many men who are distinguished by the presence of a strong-willed chin: John F. Kennedy, Winston Churchill, Joseph Stalin. The exceptions only confirm the rule.

Volitional chin in women

Among women, there are also athletes whose figure resembles that of a man. Their chins often look rather rough. This is due to high levels of the male hormone testosterone. The protruding lower part of the face scares the representatives of the stronger sex, because it indicates the sexual activity of women. For a long-term relationship, men intuitively look for a partner in whose fidelity they want to be sure. Therefore, polls show that women with strong chins seem less attractive to them. The study was published in the journal Personality And Individual Differences, citing developments from several universities in North America.

Famous personalities

The findings are supported by examples from the lives of celebrities. So, the Duchess of Cornwall, whose strong-willed chin can be seen in the photograph, had an affair with Prince Charles before divorcing her first husband, Andrew Parker-Bowles. And the owner of a neat lower part of the face, Joan Woodward, lived all her life married to Paul Newman, a Hollywood star who drove women crazy with his bottomless blue eyes.

Women's strong-willed chins rarely have a quadrangular shape. They are more rounded and attractive in appearance. They often make the proportions of the face, especially in its lower third, more correct and perfect. Among celebrities with a protruding jaw are Julianne Moore, Cynthia Nixon, Ksenia Sobchak. Many Hollywood careers began with chin augmentation through implants. Among women, Angelina Jolie, Hayley Berry, Jennifer Aniston decided on such an operation. Their appearance has benefited so much from this that today many are wondering how to make a strong-willed chin.

mentoplasty

The section of plastic surgery for correcting the size and shape of the chin is called mentoplasty. To increase it, an implant is inserted under the periosteum. The operation does not leave any visible scars, because the incision is made on the mucous membrane of the oral part of the face. The rehabilitation period does not exceed three days. Surgeon Brent Möllken from California speaks of hundreds of men who try to change their appearance in this way. Actors do this because they no longer want to play the roles of weak characters, and heroes require a certain type of face.

Why do women do it? To look like real ladies. During implantation, several problems are solved at once:

  1. The proportions of the face are corrected.
  2. The neck is visually stretched.
  3. The cheeks are removed, making the cheekbones more defined.
  4. If necessary, the second chin is removed.

Many years have passed since the time of Aristotle and Hippocrates, who saw the connection between the appearance of a person and the characteristics of his character. Ideas about the ideal appearance of a person, which causes a respectful perception of others, are changing. Today, one of its most important indicators is a strong-willed chin.

What does the dimple on the chin mean

To think that the science that studies the features of appearance has appeared only recently is fundamentally wrong. It just wasn't taken seriously for a while. They did not attach much importance to the features of the structure of faces and their connection with the character of a person. Only recently this ancient science acquired the name - physiognomy. But our distant ancestors, although they did not give names, already then knew how much the shape and structure of the face can tell about a person. Even in ancient China, the sages predicted the fate of these signs. And very successful! So one of the emperors received a prediction about a brilliant future, when he was only a poor, unknown orphan.

The meaning of the shape of the chin

The Chinese called the forehead "the sky of the face", and the chin, respectively, "the earth". A considerable number of sages relied in their conclusions on these two components, considering them the most important for a person. Moreover, it is interesting that the shape of the forehead was much more important for men. The chin could tell more about the female fate. This is due to the fact that the bottom of the face among the Chinese was associated with the earth, which means the feminine. While the sky was masculine. The narrow and short bottom of the face was considered a bad sign that would adversely affect the future. And a wide chin, both in men and women, on the contrary, meant well-being in the future.

He promised a happy, quiet old age, in which the owner will know more happiness than adversity, will enjoy the benefits that he has acquired through hard work throughout his life. He foreshadowed comfortable living, no health problems, prosperity and fame. Also, protruding chins in every possible way were called a very good sign for a person: upturned (then the type of face was called “heaven and earth looking at each other”), fleshy and massive, full, protruding forward. They talked about the strong will of a person, his ability to cope with any adversity, as well as love for earthly goods and increased sexuality.

The Chinese considered a favorable face shape a real gift from above, a gift from the gods. People with a "correct" face shape were automatically considered successful, if not now, then in the foreseeable future. And certainly they were not threatened by a miserable old age in poverty, no matter how it really was. No one knows for sure whether their predictions were true, but this tradition lasted a very, very long time.

Double chin

No matter how strange it may seem in our age of struggle with excess weight, the Chinese considered a double chin to be the most favorable sign. However, this form can be not only in overweight people. Contrary to popular belief, slender people also have a double chin. In China, this was the best guarantee of well-being after the age of fifty.

Such a chin foreshadowed comfort and tranquility upon reaching old age. But even at a younger age, its owners became successful in their profession, received financial stability. It was believed that such people rarely deny themselves sensual pleasures, even in old age. Also, their desires throughout life coincide with the possibilities.

Dimple on the chin: meaning

In simple terms, this is the name given to a depression on human skin. If we are talking about the face, then most often we mean the dimples on the cheeks that some people have when they smile, or the dimple on the chin. Often they are most noticeable at an early age, and over the years they smooth out or disappear altogether. This is due to the fact that our facial muscles are gradually lengthening. But some retain this feature until old age. It is also now possible to create dimples artificially - with the help of plastic surgery.

Each feature in physiognomy has a certain meaning. So the dimple on the chin means in the popular interpretation the benevolence of a person. This definition is especially true for men, and the very shape of the chin is more important for them. Surprisingly, here we and the inhabitants of ancient China have an almost unanimous opinion. A dimple on the chin in the science of physiognomy characterizes a person as the owner of a strong, unbending will.

Such men are real fighters, they are decisive and have a strong and even tough character. But at the same time, they can be described as connoisseurs of the fair sex, with a bright temperament. It is believed that such people attract the attention of women and therefore spoiled by them. Sometimes a dimple can mean a two-faced character. Its dodgy owner is very versatile, able to achieve his goals, both with the help of cunning and enviable stubbornness.

The value of the chin and character | Physiognomy

Consider the physiognomic significance of the chin. As for the chin and jaws, they are almost inseparable and are therefore often discussed together in Chinese texts. These two traits govern the later years of life and are located in positions 60 to 79 and 98 and 99 on the left side.

Well developed jaws on a round or square face, in accordance with the general contour of the face, usually indicate a strong character. With a round face, the jaws indicate affection, generosity and self-control, provided that they are wide and covered with a strong and plentiful whip. With a square face, they speak of a person of great determination with a firm or difficult character. Such jaws are usually associated with professional athletes or the military. Generally speaking, however, the reader of the face should keep in mind that wide jaws and a broad chin are a sign of strong character, unless they are marred by other bad facial features (such as a weak or broken nose or lifeless eyes). A person, whether male or female, having such a jaw and chin is likely to have a very successful life if other facial features are favorable and in balance and proportion.

As a rule, the wider the jaw, the wider the chin (Fig. 181). The size and position of these two features should be well matched. A wide and slightly raised chin is absolutely essential for the balance of the entire face. This indicates happiness and security in later life.

A weak and pressed chin is a clear sign of a fatal flaw in character and fate. A weak chin puts all other facial features in a detrimental position, starting from the forehead and below (Fig. 182).

A severe gap in the chin” (Fig. 183) as a result of splitting of the bone structure or flesh covering the chin is known as a “split chin”. As a "rule of thumb" we can say that such a gap indicates a cordial, tender, passionate nature. This is often found among artists, actors, musicians, inventors and writers, i.e. among people whose creative work generates high emotions.

The meaning of the chin. However, if the "split chin" is due to bony structure rather than skin having good tension along the entire length of the gap, and if it is accompanied by defective irises, and possibly an imperfect bridge of the nose, then it may mean an unnatural death. A "split chin" in the absence of other defects indicates possible problems of immersion in introspection.

In some cultures, a pointed chin in women is considered a sign of beauty (Fig. 184). Such a chin may not be fully developed and therefore not fleshy enough. But a fully developed chin should appear around the age of 30. If the chin remains pointed at this age, then the physiognomist usually considers this a detrimental feature, since it is often poorly balanced with other prominent facial features. Unbalance is always undesirable. After the age of 30, a pointed chin can speak of a collapse of hope, illness, and a short life.

The meaning of the chin. A wide jaw and a wide chin on a broad face (Fig. 185) is a sign of a strong personality. Such traits are often found in people of great strength and dexterity. Nothing can make such people deviate from achieving the intended goal. However, a long chin with underdeveloped flesh is a sign of an unsuccessful financial businessman. If the chin is flat, then this indicates that the person is not resourceful.

Heavy jaws protruding from both sides of the lower part of the face and clearly visible when viewed from behind (Fig. 186), indicate a rebel, a person of strong, uncontrollable passions. Such a person is able to repay a good deed with betrayal. Politicians, revolutionaries, unprincipled businessmen usually have this type of jaw.

In some cases, the protruding jaw is hidden behind massive flesh. This speaks of a self-centered, selfish person. A woman with such jaws is often a difficult marriage partner because she constantly rebels against her fate.

What does the dimple on the chin mean in men?

I heard that this means that a man likes to walk to the left. Maybe there are more versions.

Yanamarina

Nothing but the fact that such a male face adds to the attractiveness of a man automatically. It is dangerous to have such a life partner for a woman who is not sure of her superiority over her husband. With a worthless wife, such a man will not resist the temptation to be in someone's gentle hands in addition to the legitimate hands of his wife.

The thing is not that a man will necessarily be a walker, but that a dimple is a bonus that enhances his attractiveness. Not every male can resist the temptation. To do this, there must be solid deterrents, and a man must be full and lazy, at least.

And so, there is nothing dangerous and secret in this sign, if you do not take into account that it is dominant, and is inherited.

I heard and even was in full confidence that the dimple on the chin indicates that only sons will be born to a man, but life shows that this is just a common misconception - so the owner of one of the most beautiful dimples on the chin, Til Schweiger, has three daughters . In fact, like any other anatomical feature, a dimple on the chin may not mean anything, but it certainly adds to the attractiveness of a man, although I prefer dimples on the cheeks. And popularity with the female always has a great influence on the formation of the character of a man, and he may try to become more courageous and purposeful, just to follow the established stereotype and cater to women's expectations.

Not always a dimple on the chin means that a man with a strong character and self-confident. As a rule, the owner of a dimple on his chin is kind and this is a fact, since I have many such acquaintances. Another such person is attractive to women, they consider him passionate and temperamental. And physiognomists say that he is able to make decisions.

A striking example of an actor with a dimple on his chin is John Travolta

Men with a "dimple" on their chin have a very strong character, determination, strong will and perseverance - this is their character trait.

Such men are very popular with women, so they say that this is because of the "dimple" on the chin.

From a medical point of view, the dimple on the chin is just a lack of development of connective tissue. From the point of view of physiognomy, the meaning of the dimple on the chin in men in different cultures has its own meaning, but most often this feature means goodwill, firmness of character, ingenuity and cunning. Men with a dimpled chin almost never experience a lack of female attention ...

Vili Borisovich

From a scientific point of view, it means nothing, just like a strong-willed chin. The only scientific explanation is the lack of connective tissue. But in terms of life. Women like such a dimple, which gives the owner of such a dimple an advantage in communicating with the weaker sex, and as a result, a promotion.

I once heard that a dimple on the chin means that its owner is loving and loved by women. But the way it is, such a dimple adds irresistibility, so everything is correct. So it is, I think that this means that a man is determined, handsome and loved by women.

A dimple on a man's face is a feature of the physiological structure of the face of a given individual and nothing more.

But if we assume that 2x2=5, you can see a lot of interesting things in this dimple.

For example, a very purposeful womanizer.

mustard

Nothing special. This is just a physiological feature, a special physiognostics. In girls, dimples on the cheeks give them attractiveness, a special zest. The dimples on the face simply distinguish the person's face from the background of other faces, nothing more.

stealth

It means that with age-related growth of the musculoskeletal mass of the face, the connective tissue in the center of the chin is not fully developed relative to the structure of neighboring tissues. You can even say that this is a slight ugliness, and nothing more!

Marina Makyan

For a man, a dimple on his chin is a sign of determination, determination and strong will and character. Friendly people have this sign. Sometimes a dimple can mean a man's two-faced character.

What will the chin tell?

Quote from lach Read the WholeTo your quote pad or community!

Facial features can tell a lot about a person. The chin is the place where the will, determination and firmness of character are reflected.
If a man is the owner of a large square chin that protrudes forward, he will be able to achieve great success in military affairs, sports and environmental protection. But he shouldn't expect much more.
In women, a large chin indicates the ability to self-sacrifice. They can surround almost any man with affection, care, become his reliable friend and support.

If a man's chin protrudes significantly forward, then he is a shrewd, sarcastic person. He was more accustomed to taking everything by cunning than by force. Able to achieve a lot, but does not always pay attention to the little things. These people are rarely rich and do not bathe in glory for long.
In women, such a protruding chin indicates their sexuality, sensuality and initiative in love relationships.
If a man has a chin shifted back, then he is an indecisive and weak-willed person. It is much better for him to weigh everything and figure it out than to decide on spontaneous actions. Such a person does not tend to stay long at the pinnacle of fame. His actions will not always receive a good assessment. And the owners of such a chin are often very jealous and envious.
If a man has a prominent chin combined with a narrow and sloping forehead, then the person does not have the best character and should be treated with caution.
If a man or woman has a split chin, it means a desire to be always loved and desired. Life portends stormy romances and disappointments to such people.
And if there are moles on the chin, then its owner is a lover of travel, adventures and political intrigues. A mole in the center of the chin can indicate both great success and scandalous defeat.

The chin

The shape of a person's chin speaks of his strength, independence and temperament. There is a direct dependence of the character on the chin: the coarser and more significant the chin on the face, the more dynamic, stubborn and tough the character of a person.
