Gifts made by yourself have always been valued more than ordinary, purchased ones: such gifts can demonstrate your special attitude towards the recipient, because not only money was spent on their creation, but also your own time and effort. In addition, handmade gifts can show how well you know the recipient: his hobbies, character. Therefore, handmade products are a win-win option for gifts for both women and men. Read the article on how to decoupage bottles for a man.

A bottle as a gift for a man can be decorated using the decoupage technique with absolutely any materials (you can use napkins, textiles, polymer clay, etc.). The main thing is to choose the right design theme. So, depending on the man’s hobbies, the bottle can be decorated with napkins with images of the sea, ships, cars, airplanes, etc.; hand-made items (anchors, twines, decorative nets, etc.) can be used as additional decor. P.).

You should choose a decoupage technique based on the reason for the gift: for example, to congratulate a man on his professional holiday, a bottle decorated in the theme of his occupation will be suitable (a law enforcement officer can be presented with a bottle, the decoupage of which is made with ribbons imitating the shape), and for a gift to the birthday boy, you can choose more personal design (decoupage using a joint photograph, congratulation text, etc.).

Bottle design for a man: master class on traditional decoupage

In order to perform decoupage using the traditional technique, we will need a tall rectangular bottle, black acrylic, a rice napkin with a print in black and beige tones (for example, an image of a wolf, a black panther, a sailboat, etc.), pastel crayons to match the acrylic , brushes, foam sponge, file, PVA, varnish.

In order to design a bottle you need:

  1. Apply black acrylic to the previously prepared surface of the bottle in several layers using a foam sponge. Layers must be applied with intermediate drying of the product.
  2. Take the file and place the napkin face down on it.
  3. Gently moisten the file with a napkin with water.
  4. Attach the file to the bottle, placing the image in the center
  5. Remove the file and cover the applique with PVA.
  6. Soften the edges of the drawing with pastel crayons. The pastel should be applied with your fingers, as if driving in the color.
  7. Coat the product with finishing varnish.

The design on the rice napkin must be torn out by hand: in this way, the picture will blend better with the background and will not create unnecessary relief. This master class is suitable for decor in any theme. The main thing is to choose a suitable napkin and background color.

A castle with a “window” using decoupage technique for a man’s birthday

In order to decorate a gift for a man’s anniversary or birthday using the decoupage technique with a “window”, we will need: a rectangular bottle, a napkin with an unclear pattern in muted tones, brown acrylic, bronze pigment, nylon stockings, corrugated cardboard, semolina, twine , labels and text of congratulations, foam sponge, brushes, PVA, Moment-gel, finishing varnish.

Before decoupage, you should prepare a bottle (clean the surface, degrease the glass), labels with congratulations (print on cardboard in calligraphic font or glue congratulations), bricks for the castle (cut out rectangular bricks from corrugated cardboard for the main decor and trapezoidal ones for the design of a semicircular window).

Let's start decoupage:

  1. We apply a napkin to one of the front surfaces of the bottle with the pattern facing inward, and cover it with PVA on top.
  2. We cover the neck of the bottle with a nylon stocking soaked in PVA, forming folds with our fingers.
  3. Leave the bottle for 24 hours to dry completely.
  4. We paint the drapery with brown acrylic.
  5. We design the side opposite to the napkin in the form of a semicircular, elongated window: we cover the upper arc of the window with trapezoidal cardboard stones (we glue the corrugated cardboard with Moment-glue).
  6. We decorate the entire surface of the bottle with rectangular elements cut out of corrugated cardboard.
  7. Coat the bottle with PVA and sprinkle with semolina.
  8. On the dried surface, using a foam sponge, apply acrylic in several layers with intermediate drying.
  9. We use bronze pigment to cover the protruding folds of the drapery on the neck, the top of the window arc, the bottom and corners of the bottle.
  10. We coat the product with varnish.

We tie the neck of the dried product with twine with congratulatory tags. The gift is ready!

Men's theme: decoupage bottles as a gift for February 23

To design a congratulatory bottle, we will need primer, military-colored textiles, congratulation words printed on a sheet, a picture corresponding to the theme, twine, a foam sponge, bronze pigment, and spray varnish.

We design the bottle step by step:

  1. Apply primer to the degreased surface with a sponge.
  2. Cover the bottle tightly with a cloth soaked in PVA. We apply the fabric in pieces: we separately wrap the cork and neck, the main part, and the bottom.
  3. We reapply glue over the entire surface of the drapery and leave the bottle to dry for a day.
  4. We apply the applique to a dry cloth and coat it with PVA on top: glue a picture on the front part, and words of congratulations on the back.
  5. We frame the appliques along the contour with twine.
  6. We decorate the applications with bronze pigment, applying the color with our fingers.
  7. We fix the result with spray varnish.

Decoupage of cognac bottles for men with leather

To decoupage cognac bottles with leather, in addition to the material itself, you need PVA glue, twine, brown aero paint, gold acrylic, brushes, stars for shoulder straps, cling film, decorative oil-adhesive putty, pencil, knife.

Decorating the bottle:

  1. We cover the bottle with leather soaked in PVA, forming folds with our fingers and leaving an empty space for congratulations.
  2. Glue the stars on the skin, decorate the bottle with twine (we frame the stars, empty space).
  3. Apply putty to the free area and cover it with film, forming folds.
  4. After the putty has dried, remove the film and write congratulations on the surface with a pencil.
  5. We cut out the words on the putty using a knife.
  6. We cover the product with air paint and wipe it with a napkin with a solvent so that the color remains only on the folds of the leather and the putty.
  7. Using a dry brush, we pick up gold and cover the protruding surfaces of the folds in some places with it and putty (the embossed words should remain without sputtering).

The man's bottle is ready! To fix the result, you can open the product with varnish.

Stylish decoupage of a bottle for a man (video)

Decorated bottles of alcohol are a great opportunity to pleasantly surprise a man with an original and non-standard gift. Moreover, decoupage of bottles for men does not set boundaries and frames: the technique and theme for design can be absolutely anything. It all depends only on your imagination!

Is there a way to turn an ordinary bottle into a decorative vase and decorate it, for example, with a kitchen window sill? Undoubtedly. And this type of decorative creativity, such as decoupage, will help with this. Of course, without basic knowledge it is difficult to decoupage bottles yourself; the master class is very helpful in this case. Although the technique itself is quite simple and does not require special skills or talents. It is enough to be able to work with paper, scissors and glue and find free time for this. The scope of imagination has no limits.

Decoupage - what is it?

French words always sound beautiful and mysterious, although they sometimes mean the most ordinary things. So is the case with decoupage, which translates as “cutting.” In essence, this is an applique that is glued to a variety of surfaces.

Anything can serve as a material for decoupage, as long as it embodies the creative intent of the master. Most often, pictures cut out of paper are used. After all, it easily takes any shape and can be mounted on glass, wood, stone and any other surface that needs to be decorated.

For example, using the decoupage technique, you can turn an old porcelain teapot into a magnificent flower pot and complement your kitchen interior with it. An old sideboard, prepared for exile to the dacha, can easily compete with its antique counterparts if its doors are covered with a floral ornament in the style of the 18th century, artificially aged using a special craquelure varnish, giving the product an antique look. But the most popular is napkin decoupage, when an image you like is cut out of ordinary paper napkins and fixed on glass or stone with a layer of varnish.

Materials for decorating a bottle using decoupage technique

In general, the decoupage technique for beginners and for more experienced craftsmen is no different. Before you start, it’s better to stock up on patience and the necessary tools and materials for creativity.

In the first place is the glass bottle itself - its surface should be as smooth as possible, without embossed decorations.

Next comes the drawing, selected either on paper napkins or on decoupage cards; magazine clippings, pictures downloaded from the Internet and pictures printed on a printer, etc. can be used.

To remove grease stains from glass, you will need any liquid capable of this.

Degreased glass needs to be primed. Any acrylic paint that matches the color of the main pattern is suitable for this.

Sponges for applying primer

Both special decoupage glue and school PVA are usually used as an adhesive.

Of course, you will also need brushes, preferably flat and made of synthetic bristles that do not lose hairs during use.

Fan brush for decoupage

In addition to paint for the primer, you should also have on hand just colored acrylic paints for decoration, and the same varnish for fixing the image on the glass.

To give the product an antique look, craquelure varnish will be indispensable, as it will also fix the design. After applying it, the item takes on the features of an antique.

And, of course, it will be impossible to do without a number of things - small scissors, masking tape, foam rubber, containers for paints and varnishes, sandpaper, rags for wiping.

Napkin bottle decoupage: step-by-step instructions

Preparing the glass surface

Any used bottle is covered on all sides with various labels and tags. Getting rid of them is not so easy, but it is quite possible. The bottle should remain in the soap solution for some time, then all traces of paper and glue are removed from it using sandpaper. Only after this comes the turn of the solvent, which removes remaining grease from the surface of the glass.

Primer

In principle, you don’t have to prime the bottle, but choose a design such that the decoupage on glass will look great on a transparent surface. But to enhance brightness and relief, it is better to cover the bottle with acrylic paint that matches the color of the selected pattern, and is at least one tone lighter. This is where you will need a foam roller or sponge. Dipping it into a wide jar of paint, carefully prime either the entire bottle or the part of it on which the design will be applied. To create a rich color, it is better to apply two or three layers of paint.

Carving the ornament

To work with thin elements of a napkin, it is better to use scissors from a manicure set or simply carefully separate the design from the rest of the paper. Then the image will turn out more natural.

Not only napkins are suitable for appliqué, but also magazine clippings on thicker paper. To get the effect of an image drawn directly on glass, a cutout of thicker paper needs to be coated with two or three layers of varnish, dried thoroughly, and then put this picture in water for about twenty minutes. If the layers of soaked paper are carefully removed, a transparent picture will remain on the varnished surface, which is glued to the base. Not every master class will teach you this type of bottle decoupage.

Gluing a picture to a bottle

The same dry cloth is applied to the prepared dry, grease-free surface of the bottle, and then a brush with pre-selected glue begins to “walk” along its surface. Very carefully and carefully, all air bubbles are squeezed out from under the napkin, and wrinkles that have inadvertently formed are smoothed out. If you are afraid of ruining your first masterpiece, then you can practice on a duplicate bottle.

If you use decoupage cards, you should first soak them in warm water and then lay them out on a towel to dry.

This work is painstaking and very careful, you can’t even accidentally tear the card. It is carefully smeared with glue, first on the back side, and then, after laying it on the glass, it is carefully straightened and coated on the outside, expelling any remaining air and eliminating wrinkles. If it was planned to use more than one picture to decoupage the bottle, then all other images are glued in the same way.

Fixing the result with varnish

After gluing the image to the bottle, enough time must pass for the paper to dry completely. But in this form, the drawing is completely defenseless against air, light, water and sharp objects. To keep the surface undamaged, it is secured with a layer of varnish. And so that the bottle is not afraid of water either inside or outside and is used for its intended purpose, this varnish layer must be applied at least three times. But the result will be something that you won’t be ashamed to show to your friends.

If you capture on a camera what the decoupage of bottles looks like step by step, you can then show the photo to friends or other needlewomen.

Decoupage a bottle using rice paper

Among all types of decoupage, a special place is occupied by the use of rice paper in the process. To conduct a master class, it is advisable to determine what exactly is needed for this.

  • A glass bottle, if possible not very narrow, so that there is something to roam around and the decoupage turns out to be noticeable and bright.
  • Sheets of rice paper come in two colors - light green and white. It will be used as a base for decoupage.
  • Paper napkin with a pattern. Floral ornaments will add grace and tenderness to the decor.
  • Glue and a brush with artificial bristles so that hairs do not remain on the bottle.
  • A special white acrylic-based marker that leaves a line on any surface, and varnish to fix the design.
  • Scissors, glass degreasing solvent, napkins or towels for applying the product, decorative tape.

So, let's try to figure out why rice paper is needed for decoupage and how to use it correctly.

The most important process is degreasing the glass surface. After all, the quality of image fixation depends on this. We will do this using any cleanser and a regular napkin or cloth.

You need to prepare rice paper.

ATTENTION!!! It cannot be cut with scissors; it just needs to be carefully torn into small fragments. Scissors will create a smooth edge, and if you tear the rice paper, the fibers will give the surface the necessary naturalness.

It’s not for nothing that the Chinese came up with the idea of making paper from rice. It is more elastic than regular one and much easier to work with. This is the opinion of everyone who happened to hold this paper in their hands.

There are two different ways to apply rice paper to glass:

  1. Press fragments of dry paper onto the bottle and soak the paper thoroughly with glue. Then dry and treat with acrylic varnish.
  2. Another option is to also attach pieces of rice paper to the bottle and thoroughly moisten them with water. After drying almost completely (you can use a hairdryer for speed), then cover the pieces of paper with acrylic varnish.

This master class shows how, using the first method, you can make a very nice and original vase from an ordinary bottle. From green rice paper, select three long pieces with pointed ends, glue them with the narrower edge up around the entire bottle, carefully stretching and straightening all folds and wrinkles.

Carefully fill all free glass fragments with white rice paper, edge to edge. It is allowed to slightly overlap the edges, but no one will see these roughnesses in the finished product. But only if the fragments were torn off and not cut off.

Having thoroughly coated all the rice paper with glue, we set the bottle aside to dry completely, and at this time we carefully cut out the ornament from the napkin prepared for decoupage.

Once again, lubricate the entire bottle with glue, carefully press the design and carefully pass over it with a brush, carefully removing air bubbles and excess glue from under the napkin.

The bottle is sent to dry again, and then the entire surface is covered with acrylic varnish. To fully protect the image, you will need to repeat this procedure 2-3 times.

After complete drying, the contours of the design are outlined with a white acrylic marker. This will give the entire product brightness and expressiveness.

Decorative tape also came in handy. The neck of the bottle, left without decoration, is very cleverly hidden under it.

More recently, in Russia, people began to relax during the New Year holidays with the whole family. Not only schoolchildren and students, but also the working population have the opportunity to visit relatives, take a walk, play sports and devote time to their favorite hobbies.
Decorating interior items using technology is gaining increasing popularity among the fair sex. You can decorate this way not only cutting boards, photo frames and other small things, but also bottles, for example, with champagne. These works will decorate the table, refresh it, and make it special. Even if you haven’t had time to master a new creative technique all year in the hustle and bustle, you can do this just on New Year’s days.
In this master class, we will consider the technique of direct decoupage from a file, in which we will apply the design on the bottle in a circle, overlapping edge to edge. When decorated directly with a napkin, the champagne will stand and not lie on its side, as when gluing a small motif.
Here it will be useful to define the terms used by the masters of this technique.
A motif is a drawing from a napkin or decoupage card that will be placed on the surface. Primer is acrylic paint or a mixture of paint with PVA glue, which is applied to the glass in the first and second layers.
For decoupage, PVA glue, slightly diluted with water, is usually used. It is also important to remember that when wet, the size of the napkin increases by approximately 0.5 cm on each side, which is very noticeable if you first apply a dry napkin to the surface to determine the boundaries where the motif will lie.

Materials and tools

The craftswoman should always have toothpicks, cotton swabs, sheets of paper or newspaper, and cotton wool on hand. All this can be found in every home. Pay attention to the reasonable arrangement of the workplace, to protecting your hands and face (especially eyes) from exposure to varnishes and paints. Therefore, it would be a good idea to purchase gloves, masks, etc. In addition to the above, prepare:
  • acrylic paints: white and pearlescent;
  • regular brushes, like those for watercolor paints;
  • a sponge sponge or a piece of dry dishwashing sponge attached to a clothespin;
  • acrylic lacquer;
  • the finest sandpaper;
  • acrylate putty for decorative work;
  • napkins of a suitable theme, I took New Year's ones;
  • artificial Christmas tree branches, real cones;
  • for artificial snow, foam balls;
  • PVA glue for paper and cardboard or construction glue;
  • scissors;
  • stationery file, preferably dense.

Inspiration, a creative message and free time, as well as a good mood, will also come in handy. The work may take several days, since each layer must be thoroughly dried, but using a hairdryer it can be sped up to several hours.

Beginning of work

Buy good quality champagne.

As in the case of remaking an old one, before applying any type of coating, you need to remove the old decorative layers. When decorating a bottle, these are labels and excise stamps. First I soak the glass in water, then remove the label with a brush. Remains of paper and glue can be easily removed using vegetable oil and sandpaper, vigorously rubbing the bottle.

Choose a napkin in advance.

Before you start priming the glass, degrease it with window cleaner or alcohol.
Add PVA glue to the paint and prepare a foam sponge.

Apply the primer to the surface using small, dotted movements.

Two or three layers are enough. Let the bottle dry or dry it thoroughly with a hairdryer on all sides.
Now take some fine sandpaper and sand the surface.

During the sanding process, you will realize that the grain is not completely removed. In order to prepare the surface for decoupage from a file, take acrylate putty.

Apply the thinnest layer of paste to the bottle. To do this, take a plastic card from any bank instead of a spatula or just use your finger. You can also remove excess with a thread. The bottle should lie on its side.

Let's use the hairdryer again. The paste dries very quickly.

Cover the bottom of the bottle with it as well.

If necessary, brush the surface again. This is how smooth the bottle turned out in the end. Now she is ready to apply the motive.

Decoupage

The easiest way to decoupage for beginners is decoupage from a file. I chose a motif depicting New Year's balls, cinnamon, and fir branches. The pattern does not end on a quarter of the napkin, as usual, but is located on half, as shown in the figure.

If you wrap a napkin around a bottle, it becomes clear that you will have to turn it down a little. But let's not rush.
Make the edges of the motif uneven by cutting them off. Layer the napkin.

You may need to iron the motif from the reverse side using the “silk” setting.

Place the colorful layer of the napkin on the file with the pattern down and start dripping water on top of it, from the middle to the edges. You want the entire napkin to be submerged in water. Essentially, when you straighten it, you will not touch the paper with the brush, you will touch the water, and the napkin will straighten itself.

Flatten the motif, expel the air from under it, the folds will straighten out. However, do not keep the napkin in the water for too long! The edges of the motif can be safely removed, since the paper has increased in size..
The motif on the file can be raised in this way, as shown in the figure.

Lubricate the bottle thickly with PVA glue; there is no need to dilute it in this case.

Now begins the most interesting and most difficult part of the work. Starting from the middle of the motif, lean the file against the bottle, but not all at once, but only the middle, and stroke the file with your hands up and down, and also slightly to the sides.

Next, you need to place one edge of the napkin on the glue and slowly separate it from the file. If necessary, straighten with a wide brush with water, but it is better to glue straight away evenly.

In the photo below you can clearly see that one part of the napkin is still on the file, and the other is already on the bottle.

Now overlap the rest of the napkin, adding a little glue. This whole process requires skill, attention and concentration. If necessary, carefully tear off the excess part of the image too.

Pay attention to the following photo. It shows that the last part of the napkin did not stick very smoothly, and when trying to smooth it out, the motif began to tear. At this stage, if this happens to you, it is best to exhale. Let the napkin dry naturally; a hairdryer will only do damage here.

Now glue the top of the napkin, which previously remained just in the air. If creases form, they can be removed later with sandpaper.
Select a color and complete the background using the same sponge.

While the paint is drying, prepare the artificial snow. To do this, mix white paint, PVA glue and semolina or such foam balls as in the photo.

Apply two coats of varnish to the bottle and let it dry. Before this, it was possible to depict patterns on the surface.
Cover the lid with foil and apply fake snow to it.

Finally, hide the bumps and “seam” of the napkin with a few branches of an artificial Christmas tree or tinsel. I also glued real pine cones and covered the branches with fake snow. You can attach this to a glue gun, which you can buy at the Fix Price store for no more than 100 rubles.

That's it, the beautiful one is ready!

To decorate bottles and glasses for a wedding you need to use with the following diagram:

  • The surface is first degreased. To do this, you need to wipe it with alcohol.
  • Then special primer for decoupage is applied, which is sold in craft stores. However, acrylic paint will also work perfectly as a base. The paint is applied with the most common foam sponge, which is usually used to create makeup.

IMPORTANT: There is often a need for a second layer of acrylic varnish.

  • Once the varnish is dry, You can treat the bottle with glass glue and then attach the napkins. It is recommended to use a special pistol. Do not worry about the fact that the glue is formed in the form of ampoules - they melt in the gun
  • After 60 minutes the bottle should be cover with several more layers of acrylic varnish
  • After another hour you can start painting bottle day
  • And now can be decorated to your taste with sparkles, ribbons, flowers, lace, beads

Glasses are decorated according to the same principle as bottles. It is recommended to tie two glasses or two bottles with ribbons as a symbol of a strong relationship.

If you want something unusual, You can design one bottle in a masculine theme, and the second in a feminine theme. Also, things that depict the hobbies of the newlyweds will look quite interesting.

  • Meanwhile, on the bottle, in accordance with the size of the photograph, a place for it is indicated. This place is lubricated with acrylic varnish. Above The photo is pasted with the front side inward

IMPORTANT: Smooth the paper thoroughly - there should be no bubbles or wrinkles.

  • After the photo has dried, you should stick a second one on it. Only this time the image will be facing the viewer. Smooth out the picture

  • In a very ordinary syringe, add texture paste, which can be purchased at a craft store. Squeeze it onto outline photo. You can also do inscription

Numerous photos of bottle decoupage clearly demonstrate that such things can be not only decorative accessories for the interior, but will also become a wonderful, unique gift for a variety of celebrations and holidays.

What is decoupage technique

The word decoupage came to us from France and translated means “cutting”. If we talk about the technique itself, it consists of gluing individual paper images onto different surfaces, essentially a simple appliqué.

Most often, images are selected from napkins; special decoupage cards or rice paper are also used; if desired, you can use clippings from magazines.

To create a unique interior decor, you can use ordinary bottles of interesting shapes. Do-it-yourself decoupage of bottles is a great opportunity to turn an ordinary thing into an original flower vase that you can give as a gift or decorate your home with.

For example, decoupage of a champagne bottle is often used to decorate a bottle that will stand on the wedding table of the newlyweds. Champagne is also decorated for the New Year or birthday.

Materials for decoupage creativity

Both beginners and experienced craftsmen can use the decoupage technique. To start creating, you need to purchase the necessary materials and equipment.

First of all, you need to choose a base - a bottle. It is better to choose a product with a smooth surface, without relief.

Next, a drawing is selected. To decoupage bottles with napkins, fragments of ordinary paper products are selected; it is also possible to use rice sheets, decoupage cards, magazine clippings or pictures from the Internet.

To degrease the surface and remove all grease stains, you need to stock up on any suitable liquid that will cope with this task.

After degreasing, the glass surface will need to be primed. For these purposes, acrylic paint of any color that is suitable for the composition is suitable.

To glue a piece of paper to a surface, you need an adhesive composition. This can be a special decoupage glue or regular PVA diluted with water in a 1 to 1 ratio.

Required attributes are brushes. It is advisable to use synthetic products from which hairs do not fall out during the process.

To decorate the product, you need a set of acrylic colored paints, and to fix the image, acrylic varnish. To give the bottle an aging effect, a craquelure varnish composition is used.

In addition to these materials, you also need small scissors, preferably manicure scissors, foam sponges, containers for paint and varnish, and sandpaper.

Step-by-step instructions

In order to create a beautiful decorative accessory the first time, you should use the bottle decoupage instructions for beginners.

Bottle preparation process. Any bottle should first be cleaned of all stickers and adhesive residue. To do this, soak the container in a soapy solution and then remove all fragments. Next, fat deposits are removed with a degreaser.

The next step is to separate the desired fragment of the drawing from the paper. For this it is better to use small nail scissors. If you use a napkin, you only need to take one top layer of paper.

If you take thicker magazine paper, then first the surface is varnished, dried, and then soaked for 20 minutes in water. Then the transparent pattern will separate from the base.

Now it's time to glue the paper design onto the bottle. To do this, a dry fragment is applied to the bottle and smoothed with a brush dipped in glue from the center to the edges, squeezing out air bubbles and smoothing out wrinkles. In this form, the bottle should dry well.

The work is secured by applying varnish to the entire surface of the bottle. It is better to apply the varnish in three layers.

To decorate and embellish the bottle at the final stage, you can use sparkles, rhinestones, beads, etc.
