Used folk remedies to combat stains on the shower stall

On modern market presented huge assortment household chemicals that can wash away absolutely any contaminants. But, as practice shows, the use of most chemicals has a negative impact on human health. That is why many modern housewives prefer to use folk remedies to clean the shower stall of dirt. All housewives who use basic means at hand to combat pollution note their high efficiency and absolutely harmless effect on the body.

Lemon acid

Citric acid can be used to wash away almost any stain, as it has proven itself to be an effective remedy against soap marks, greasy stains and limescale. To prepare the solution, you will need to take one tablespoon of lemon juice per glass of plain water. It is better to use hot water, stir and make sure that the acid is completely dissolved. If granules remain, they may scratch the surface. Using a regular dishwashing sponge, begin to gently wash the dirty surface. If the degree of contamination is too high, then you will need to thoroughly moisten the surface and leave the solution there for 10 minutes. At the end of this time, begin to intensively rub the surface. When finished, wash the cabin with running water.

If you were unable to achieve the desired result the first time, you can repeat this procedure again. As an alternative to citric acid, you can safely use freshly squeezed lemon juice.

Vinegar against limescale

To remove plaque from a shower stall using vinegar and water, you will need to prepare a solution in a 1:1 ratio. The prepared solution should be carefully applied to the contaminated surface and left there for 10 minutes. Then, carefully rinse off the remaining vinegar clean water and wipe the surface with a dry cloth. This recipe can be used regularly as it will not discolor or dull the glass surfaces of your shower stall.

Soda

Any experienced housewife knows that soda can quickly deal with a variety of stains, even stubborn ones. To quickly clean a dirty shower stall with baking soda, you will need to first wet the dirty area and carefully apply a little baking soda to it. Then, using a soft cloth, begin to gently rub the surface. With the very first movements, you will see how dirt is immediately removed without leaving any traces behind. But it should be said that when you use this product, do not forget that it has abrasive properties and can leave behind small scratches.

Toothpaste

At home, you can use not only toothpaste, but also tooth powder to clean surfaces. This product will quickly deal with stains on metal or acrylic surfaces. Toothpaste can easily cope with plaque on the tray in the shower stall. So, to do this, the paste must be carefully applied to dirty areas and left there for 15 minutes. After this time, remove any remaining toothpaste using a soft brush. Along with the remaining product, plaque on the shower stall is also completely eliminated. An important advantage of this product is that it does not have an abrasive effect, therefore it can be used to clean any surfaces and it does not leave any traces behind.

Soda + peroxide

You can also use a mixture of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide to clean the shower tray. This product completely eliminates fungus and mold, which very often appear in the corners of the pallet. The principle of operation is very simple, you just need to pour baking soda onto the contaminated areas and leave it there for 10 minutes. After this, thoroughly clean the surface and apply hydrogen peroxide. Do not wash off the tray under any circumstances; it must be left to dry. This product will help get rid of any fungi.

Ammonia for cleaning showers

Ammonia is considered a very effective remedy for soap stains. But, for greater efficiency during cleaning, ammonia can be used in combination with other cleaning products, in particular we're talking about about vinegar and soda. To prepare such a cleaning solution you will need to take 100 grams of ammonia, two liters of water, 50 grams of soda and the same amount of vinegar. Mix all components thoroughly. The resulting solution is enough to completely get rid of limescale both inside and outside the shower stall.

Vodka

Probably the strangest, but at the same time effective, method for cleaning glass is the use of ordinary vodka. To prepare a vodka cleaning product, you will need to take two tablespoons of water to one tablespoon of vodka. The resulting mixture will quickly remove soap deposits from not only the glass surface, but also faucets. Vodka is also ideal for cleaning chrome surfaces of taps and shower heads.

Avoid using highly aggressive chemical substances, such as:

  • Formic acid;
  • Formaldehyde;
  • Acetone;
  • Petrol.

Other cleaning methods

  • Steam generator. If you have a steam generator at home, it will clear plaque and deposits much faster than folk remedies. Slowly move the steam generator along the walls, then immediately wipe with a dry, clean cloth.
  • Melamine sponge. Lightly moisten the booth with water, wipe with a sponge, and rinse thoroughly.

In conclusion, I would like to say that it is better to care for the shower cabin using the above-listed folk remedies. Since such cleaning will cost housewives much less, moreover, such products are completely environmentally friendly and do not harm human health.

How to clean a shower stall - several effective ways

Recently, shower stalls have become especially popular, as they are easy to use. However, caring for them is much more difficult than for bathtubs, since plaque forms on the glass walls quite quickly. Below we will look at how to clean a shower stall with folk remedies or special household chemicals to restore it to its original appearance.

Cleaning the shower cabin

General information

There are many reasons for the formation of plaque on the glass of shower cabins:

  • Poor quality water;
  • Sebum;
  • Soap, etc.

It is often difficult to get rid of this plaque. In addition, the booth requires careful maintenance, otherwise its surface can be damaged. However, housewives still have some secrets that allow them to keep plumbing fixtures in their original form for a long time.

Cleaning the shower cabin

Cabin materials

In order to properly and safely care for your shower cabin with your own hands, you need to know what materials it is made of. Most often, this plumbing consists of the following elements:

When choosing a surface cleaning product, you must take into account the characteristics of the material from which it is made.

Scraper for cleaning glass surfaces

Cabin cleaning tools

Before cleaning the shower stall from various contaminants, you need to prepare the following tools:

  • Rubber scraper - allows you to get rid of dirt on the surface of glass walls.
  • A synthetic sponge - useful for washing the tray.
  • A rag made of non-woven fibers - for wiping the walls and tray after cleaning them.

Note! When washing the shower stall, you must avoid metal jaws, hard brushes and powder products, as they will damage its surface.

Folk remedies

The greatest difficulty for housewives is cleaning glass, mirrors and taps (see also the article “How to connect a shower stall to a water supply - basic rules for carrying out work”).

To remove plaque from these surfaces, there is a folk, time-tested remedy:

  • Two tablespoons clean water need to be mixed with a tablespoon of vodka.
  • Then you need to moisten a towel in this solution and wipe the contaminated surfaces with it.
  • After this, all cleaned surfaces should be wiped dry with a soft cloth.

After washing the walls, it comes to the pallet. If it is made of acrylic or enameled steel, it can be thoroughly cleaned with regular toothpaste. You just need to apply it thin layer onto the contaminated area and then rinse off warm water.

Lemon acid

A popular folk detergent that can clean a variety of surfaces is citric acid.

Instructions for its use are as follows:

  • In a glass of warm water you need to mix 30g of citric acid and 20g of soda.
  • The contents of the glass must be poured into a spray bottle and shaken thoroughly.
  • Next, the solution should be applied to the contaminated surface and wait 10 minutes.
  • After this, the composition must be washed off with water, after which the surfaces will become shiny.

Note! You should not clean plastic with baking soda, as it can scratch it.

You can get rid of rust using vinegar. It must be applied to the damaged surface using a spray bottle. After half an hour, the vinegar should be washed off along with the rust.

Bleach is an excellent antifungal agent

If fungus forms on the walls, they must be treated with a weak chlorine solution. After this, the walls should be rinsed with clean water and the room should be well ventilated.

Advice! To prevent the formation of fungus, you should leave the shower door ajar and periodically ventilate the bathroom.

Special household chemicals

If the shower stall is in quite a state of disrepair, you will most likely have to use special household chemicals. Of course, the price of such compositions is quite high, but, as a rule, they are more effective than folk remedies.

The only thing is that before using any household chemicals, you need to make sure that they do not contain:

  • Formaldehyde;
  • Organic matter(acetone and all kinds of solvents);
  • Formic acid.

In the photo - spray for cleaning shower cabins

The most common compositions are all kinds of sprays for washing walls, pallets and other elements. After applying them, the glass or plastic surface must be cleaned with a scraper, which removes even impurities invisible to the eye.

Often the sashes and walls are washed with window cleaners. After applying them, it is advisable to treat the surface with a double-sided scraper (there is a sponge on one side and rubber on the other).

Note! It is necessary to wash the inside of the booth with open doors. Otherwise, cleaning with household chemicals can lead to poisoning.

Paste cleaner for shower cabins

To clean surfaces from soap stains and limescale, use strong paste or creamy formulations. After applying this paste to problem areas you need to wait the required time (indicated on the package), and then rinse it off with water. Moreover, you need to wash it off as thoroughly as possible so that there are no streaks left.

Advice! You can use an old toothbrush to clean hard-to-reach places. At the same time, it is necessary to treat surfaces with it carefully, without using force, so that microcracks do not form.

After cleaning all surfaces, they must be wiped dry with a dry towel, otherwise limescale may form after drying. Here, perhaps, is all the basic information on how to clean a shower stall. If you perform cleaning at least once a month, this operation will not cause any difficulties.

Conclusion

You can clean the shower stall from plaque and other contaminants using different means. The most important thing is to select cleaning agents so that they do not damage the surface of the plumbing. In addition, it is important to carry out cleaning in a timely manner, because dirt gradually accumulates and eats away, which complicates the task.

You can get some additional information on this topic from the video in this article.

Page 2

Some may think that the shower stall does not need special care - constant moisture simply will not allow various contaminants to accumulate. This judgment is fundamentally wrong, because like any other element in the house, the cabin needs regular care.

The task is complicated by the fact that it uses several different materials, each of which requires a special approach.

Perfectly clean shower cabin

Features of shower cabin care

The price of a shower stall is rather high, so it is better to clean and wash it regularly than to try to clean off old stubborn dirt later.

It should be taken into account that you will have to take care of several different materials:

  • plumbing fixtures (mixer, shower head) are most likely made of steel;
  • the walls may be made of glass or plastic, so when cleaning you need to be careful not to scratch or break the glass/plastic;
  • one more important element cabins can be called pallet. It can be made from both natural and artificial stone; among budget models, metal and acrylic models;
  • Of course, you will also have to deal with the need to clean the tiles.

Pick one universal remedy in order to solve the question of how to wash the inside of the shower stall, it is unlikely to be possible. In addition, for each of the listed elements there are several cleaning methods, so you will need a whole arsenal of cleaning products. Fortunately, with regular cleaning, most types of stains can be dealt with using folk remedies.

To clean a shower stall you will need a whole arsenal

To ensure that your shower is always clean, you need to follow a few simple rules:

  • After taking a shower, you just need to rinse the surfaces with warm or even cold water and, if possible, wipe them dry. If, for example, soap scum accumulates in a hard-to-reach place, then the more time passes, the more difficult it will be to remove it;

Note! No cleaning agents are used at this stage.

  • once a week you can approach this issue more responsibly. Here, some kind of shower cleaner will come in handy. Particular attention is paid to hard-to-reach places;
  • It is advisable to perform general cleaning approximately once every 1-1.5 months; if the shower cabin has been well looked after, then this period can be increased. Literally every millimeter of the shower stall is thoroughly cleaned, a variety of scrapers, soft brushes, steam cleaners etc.

Recommended cleaning products for each surface type are discussed below. A general requirement can be considered the absence of abrasive agents, since they will simply scratch any surface in the cabin, as well as the absence of hard brushes and scrapers (the reason is the same). It is optimal to use soft rags, rubber scrapers, and brushes with very soft bristles.

The question of how to clean a shower stall is too general - for example, recommendations for cleaning glass walls are not suitable for a porcelain tile tray or a chrome shower head. Therefore it is better to consider optimal options cleaning for each element of the shower stall separately.

Cleaning shower glass

In this case, everything is simple, glass is a fairly durable material and resistant to household chemicals. Therefore, to clean it, simply spray the cleaning agent in the form of a spray evenly over the surface and remove it with a soft cloth. If it was not possible to remove all the plaque the first time, then repeat the procedure until the glass becomes completely transparent.

As for specific cleaning products, Tilex, Cif and other products that are always heard have proven themselves well. When washing glass, you can use special scrapers, like those used by professional window cleaners.

Wide scraper with rubber insert works well for cleaning glass surfaces

Note! When deciding how to clean shower glass, people usually do not care too much about their own safety. When working in a closed booth with sprays, its concentration can increase so much that a person simply becomes poisoned. To prevent this from happening, you can spray the product on a rag outside the shower stall.

It is much worse if the walls are made of plastic; compared to glass, it is less resistant to chemicals. In this case, all liquids and gels containing any solvents (acetone, etc.), as well as formic acid and formaldehyde, should be excluded from the list of cleaning products.

If the shower stall is corner, then in addition to solving the problem of how to wash the glass of the shower stall, you will also have to clean the walls. If this is not done, the seams between the tiles will quickly darken, and its surface will become dull and unsightly.

Special steam cleaners can be used to remove old stains. A stream of steam escaping from the spout of such a device will quickly remove the most stubborn dirt.

A steam cleaner can handle any dirt

How to wash the tray

When it comes to the question of how to clean a shower, leaving the tray unattended is simply stupid. In this matter, a lot depends on what material the pallet is made of.

Porcelain stoneware models differ practically mirror surface. To clean them, it is best to use special care products. artificial stone. Usually dirt does not accumulate on the pallet itself, so it is enough to wipe it from all sides, that’s all the instructions.

A good product for cleaning stone surfaces

Acrylic is easily scratched, so we immediately discard any universal powders and other abrasive products for cleaning the shower. A suitable product should have a label stating that it is suitable for acrylic bathtubs.

The manufacturer emphasizes that the product is also suitable for acrylic

All of the above is also true for enamel shower trays. And if a scratch on porcelain stoneware can still be removed, even if it is not easy, it is almost impossible to remove a scratch from enamel.

Folk remedies for cleaning

Most often, when you have to decide what is best to clean your shower stall with, it all simply comes down to choosing the right cleaning product. But there are many ways to clean a shower stall using improvised means, and the cleaning efficiency is comparable to commercial cleaners.

Here are a few tips:

  • You can make a fairly powerful cleaning spray yourself. To do this, you just need to mix citric acid and soda in a ratio of 1.5:1. Then the solution should be thoroughly mixed and you can spray it on the glass of the booth; after 10-15 minutes, it will be enough to simply rinse the surface with water. This recipe will not work for plastic; after all, soda is an abrasive and can scratch it;
  • you can do without soda - just dilute the citric acid slightly with water and wipe the contaminated areas;

The photo shows a set of simple ingredients for preparing a powerful cleaning product.

Note! A rather pungent smell will linger for some time, but literally after 30-40 minutes it will disappear if you do not close the shower stall.

  • Also, glass (and taps) can be easily cleaned with regular medical alcohol (vodka will also work), as well as water, all this needs to be mixed in a 1:2 ratio. It is enough to dip a rag in the resulting solution and walk over the glass and taps, everything will shine, as if in a store window;
  • The options for cleaning the shower stall with folk remedies don’t end there. You can mention regular toothpaste, it can be squeezed onto heavy pollution and after 20 minutes just rinse off;

Toothpaste is also a good cleaning product

  • You can use vinegar to try to remove rust stains from metal elements. To do this, just spray the liquid on the stain and let it sit for 30-40 minutes, in most cases this is enough;
  • Regular Coca Cola is also used to clean chrome parts. Limescale disappears literally before our eyes;

The well-known Coca-Cola is a good cleaner

  • There are also simple ways to prevent it. For example, regular furniture polish or baby lemon oil will help prevent soap sediment from settling on the walls and doors of the cubicle; simply rub the surface with one of these substances.

Regular polish can be used as a means of preventing contamination of the walls and doors of the shower stall.

So the task of how to clean a shower stall at home cannot be called difficult, even if you want to. Even if you don’t have special equipment at hand, you can always make an analogue yourself.

In conclusion

Maintenance perfect cleanliness a shower stall is not a whim, but a vital necessity. It is unlikely that anyone will like to take a shower if the metal surfaces are covered with limescale, there will be soap stains on the doors and walls, and the seams between the tiles will be covered with a disgusting coating. Avoiding this is quite easy, you just need to follow the suggested tips.

The video in this article shows the process of cleaning a shower stall from plaque using a special spray.

A shower stall (not a box) is a glass or plastic enclosure adjacent to a wall, usually lined with ceramic tiles, and it is quite reasonable that the question may arise about which sealant for a shower stall is better? The fact is that when installing such a device, a lot of places are created adjacent to the wall, where water seeps in very easily, and no installation can save you from this problem - it is simply inevitable.

Below we will look at installation methods and rules for using sealant, and also show you a video in this article.

Various silicone sealant

Sealant in installation

Varieties

TYTAN sanitary

  • TYTAN sanitary is an acid-based silicone that can be used in repair and construction work, since it has excellent adhesion to all hard building materials - brick, plaster, glass, metal, wood and so on. It is mainly used for sealing seams and joints - these can be bathrooms, or any construction joints where there is no dust or moisture on the surface being treated. It can be noted that such material is used when sealing connections where vibration changes are possible, as well as shifts of ±20 relative to the base.

TYTAN glass

  • TYTAN glass is an acidic silicone that can be used in repair and construction work, as it has excellent adhesion to all hard, smooth materials - that is, not only glass, but also tiles or ceramic tiles, as well as plastic. It is mainly used for sealing seams and joints - these can be bathrooms, glazing of houses and balconies, or any construction joints where there is no dust or moisture on the treated surface. It is noteworthy that such material is used when sealing joints where vibration changes are possible, as well as shifts of ±20 relative to the base.

Attention! I would like to note that some are looking for antifungal sealant for a shower stall and such a tube, in fact, can be sold in stores and even with the appropriate inscription - do not believe it! Fungus and mold in in this case they are started from stagnant water, which starts in the hollows (usually, this is the junction of the pan and the wall lined with ceramic tiles).

Only an antibacterial composition can help you, but only if you wipe these seams so that water does not linger in them.

Installation work

First of all, install the pallet

Let's start with the pallet, which in any case is installed first - it is from this that the installation of the entire structure begins, that is, guides are raised relative to the corners of the pallet, and then the door frame is assembled, and fixed and movable panels are hung (read also the article “Shower hidden installation– original and practical solution for your home").

It can be noted that assembling a shower stall without sealant is possible, but in any case you will have leaks, since there is an abutment of the structural elements to the wall. Be that as it may, we will just need to place the pallet in the corner and align its legs - there is no need for a slope here, since the design of the container itself implies it in its configuration.

Drilling the wall for the guides

Next, after you have placed the tray without fixing it to the wall with silicone, you need to mark and drill holes for the guide profiles - this is best done with a drill, since a hammer drill can break the ceramic tiles.

In order not to make a mistake, it is better for you to place the arc from the door frame on the pallet and orient yourself along it in order to mark the risers - this way the entire structure will be assembled more accurately, without any distortions. This, of course, is not an instruction, but advice from the author of this article, who has carried out such installations more than once.

So, during installation of the guide strips, and this can be like the side of a door frame made of metal profiles, and separate strips (where this box is inserted) apply silicone to the stand and apply it to the ceramic tile along the previously drilled holes.

The profile is pressed with self-tapping screws. That sealant underneath will serve as an excellent waterproofing barrier. Please note that even perfectly smooth ceramic tiles will not provide the required density when adjacent to a metal stand - in any case, there will be gaps.

In the future, silicone sealant for the shower stall is not needed until you move on to fixing the tray, that is, assembling the door frame and hanging movable and fixed (straight or semicircular) panels.

But, again, it can be used to lay the lower arched profile of the door frame on the pallet - this way you can create another water barrier, because in any case, water splashes will fall under the doors and leak under the profile, although this is not necessary.

Seal the joint between the pallet and the wall

After installing all the parts, a sealant for assembling the shower cabin will be needed for the tray, and here craftsmen can do it differently, some glue the acrylic tray directly to the tile, applying a layer of silicone on the side, and some consider this unnecessary.

The author of this article adheres to the first option, that is, when the pallet is glued to the wall with silicone, this creates a monumental installation, because there are no other fastenings to the base at the bottom.

But, in addition to this, the sealant is pumped at the top line of the joint, as shown in the photo above - first a strip of silicone is squeezed out, and then a finger gun is passed along the joint to refine it - the excess from the finger is simply collected on toilet paper.

Please note that when sealing the pallet, a small hollow appears there - this is quite normal and aesthetically pleasing - and this is where mold appears (the silicone turns black over time).

No compositions (antibacterial and antifungal) can resist this process - if they try to sell you such a product in a store, it means they are simply deceiving you, since mold is formed from dried soapy water and the only anti-measure for this is constant wiping of the joint.

In view of this situation, the question may arise: “How to remove old sealant from a shower stall?”, because mold will in any case accumulate on it (at the junction of the tray with the tile) over time - the seam will turn black.

For such dismantling, you will need an ordinary kitchen knife with a sharp (not rounded) end - by running it along the joint, you can get out the old contents, but under no circumstances use solvent or white spirit - this can ruin the plastic and acrylic.

Note. Silicone sealant can be different, and the price of this product does not always determine the quality of the composition. We can only say that it is best to choose white rather than transparent silicone.

Conclusion

When installing a shower stall yourself, you will in any case use sealant to seal the joints. But at the same time, try to immediately remove the excess so that a thin layer of it does not remain on the tiles, which is very similar to limescale or soap deposits (see also the article “Switch for a shower with spout - types of device and features of choice”).

Folk remedies on how to clean the shower stall from nasty lime and soap deposits

Hi all!

If you wash yourself, wash your bath too! Alas, we do not always follow this wisdom, although we should. Over time, washing bathtubs and shower stalls becomes a real problem: unpleasant residue from water and residues of soap, gels and shampoos accumulate on the walls.

And if cleaning the bathtub is a relatively minor problem, then the shower stall, due to its very design and dimensions, brings a lot of trouble to housewives.

But with the help of my tips collected below, you can easily cope with the most stubborn stains and will no longer be tormented by the question of how to clean the shower stall from plaque.

Causes of plaque and dirt

A dirty and untidy bathroom is a death sentence for the owner. Keeping it clean is not that difficult; all you need to do is clean it regularly and follow our simple tips.

Folk remedies that can be found in any home are suitable in almost any case.

Cabins are a convenient thing, especially for those who prefer a shower to taking a bath and who save space in the room. Cabin designs vary, most often it is a completely enclosed space, in which after water procedures it becomes very warm and humid. And this causes mold.

To avoid such a nuisance, always ventilate the cabin well, and when cleaning, do not forget about joints and nooks. After a shower, do not forget to wash off all dirt with warm water and a soft cloth. Maintain your shower every day if possible. You can do this without additional products, just rinse the booth with water and wipe dry with a microfiber cloth or a simple soft cloth.

Dealing with limescale is very difficult. This is due to the quality of the water itself, which is almost impossible to combat. Hard water will accumulate on the tray and walls over time; it must be removed with a soft scraper after a shower.

Here are some tips on how to clean your shower stall at home.

You can use household chemicals: anti-scale liquid for the base and glass cleaner and any available means. However, avoid hard sponges and brushes and powders that can scratch the surface. Otherwise, you will ruin the booth not only externally: microbes will accumulate in the damage.

Particular care should be taken with acrylic coating. But still, it’s better to stick to traditional methods.

The doors are the most visible and therefore the most problematic part of the cabin. Even a dried drop of water becomes a stain on them.

Soap scum can be washed off with citric acid and soda, which is diluted in water and sprayed with a spray bottle: for one glass of warm water - 20 grams of soda and 30 grams of lemon juice.

You can restore the shine to glass and chrome plumbing with a mixture of vodka and water (diluted in a ratio of 1 to 2). Soak a rag in the solution and wipe dry.

Vinegar will remove rust. Spray it on the stains, leave for half an hour and rinse.

Limescale deposits on the door will be removed by ammonia. Pour it into warm water in a ratio of 1 to 10.

The shower head also accumulates residue, which can cause the pressure to deteriorate. We clean the watering can as follows: remove it and soak it in 3% table vinegar for several hours.

You can get rid of mold using home remedies like this: pour hot water into a container and add vinegar and ammonia (for three liters of water - half a glass of liquid) and ¼ cup of soda. Protect your hands with gloves, wet the sponge and treat problem areas. Then rinse with water and wipe dry. The smell is not pleasant, but it's worth it.

To spend less time cleaning, protect your doors from sediment. How to do it? It is enough to treat them with furniture polish and rub with a soft cloth.

Stains on doors can be cleaned with a unique cleaning product such as toothpaste. Of course, it is better if it is without dyes. In this case, the sponge will perfectly replace the old one. Toothbrush. Afterwards, rinse off the foam with water or vinegar.

That's all. These simple ways will keep your bathroom clean and tidy, you and your household in good health, and your family treasury in abundance.

Cleaning the shower stall from limescale at home can sometimes be difficult. Especially if the situation is advanced. But knowing some tricks and secrets of practical housewives, it is not difficult to achieve radiant shine and long-lasting cleanliness. Everything is possible and everything is possible.

How to delay the appearance of plaque

So such a brand new and beautiful shower stall has been installed. She shines with purity. But what will happen to her after a few washes? Soap stains, limescale and yellow spots, dark stripes of mold or mildew do not add aesthetics. Often the occurrence of these unpleasant manifestations can be avoided:

  • Ventilate the room more often and do not forget to periodically treat the joints and seams between the tiles with special products - there will be no mold or mildew. You also need to make it a rule: to wash the cabin after every shower. You just have to rinse the walls with hot and then cool water and be sure to wipe the surface dry with a towel or napkin.

If hard water, then it is best to remove it with a rubber scraper so that it does not linger on the walls for a long time.

  • Once every week or two, do a little cleaning of the cabin. Clean plumbing fixtures and wall trays with special purchased products or self-prepared mixtures of soda or vinegar, toothpaste, vodka or laundry soap.

By carrying out such simple manipulations, you can delay the appearance of plaque. But unfortunately, the reality is that water can be too hard and with different chemical impurities, it is not always possible to ventilate the room, and not everyone can do meticulous drying of surfaces after each shower. And therefore there is a need for spring cleaning and cleaning the hydrobox.

A shower stall is a rather complex structure, consisting of several parts: chrome handles and plumbing, plastic doors and glass, a tray, which can be made of acrylic, stone or metal, lined with tiles. Unfortunately, there is no universal remedy that can clean everything. Each detail needs an individual approach.

Means and methods of cleaning

The very first elements to take the blow of the resulting plaque are hydromassage nozzles and shower heads. There are several ways to clean them:

  • Use a special commercial cleaner to clean chrome products.
  • Surfaces can be treated warm solution“Antinscale” (or other agents that fight scale in teapots).
  • Apply warm vinegar to the surface, wait 10-15 minutes, and then clean it with a soft cloth. Clean clogged holes with a regular sewing needle or toothpick. If the layer of plaque is large, then you can make a “lotion” with vinegar: wet a cloth, apply it to the plumbing, cover it with cling film or plastic bag and “forget” about the watering can for a while (up to half an hour) so that the vinegar does its job, and then rinse everything with plenty of water.

  • Instead of vinegar, you can use citric acid or lemon juice, which is popular in this matter oxalic acid, as well as an alcohol (vodka) solution. In addition, toothpaste has good cleansing properties.

You can also simply wipe the surface with a melamine sponge. And then wipe everything dry with a napkin.

Walls and door

The material of the cabin walls and doors is usually plastic or glass. Cleaning glass doors is perhaps one of the most simple tasks in the matter of washing the cabin. Here you can use various compositions for washing glass.

Main, Do not use abrasive compounds or hard scourers or sponges. Otherwise you can easily scratch the surface. For work, rags and napkins made from nonwovens, old rags, flexible rubber scrapers.

For those who still prefer folk remedies, it is possible to prepare a vodka (alcohol) composition in a 1:2 ratio (1 tablespoon of vodka to two tablespoons of water) or dilute ammonia with water. Such simple mixtures perfectly remove dirt from glass.

Don't forget to clean plastic surfaces, because they tend to “accumulate” dirt and darken. It is best to clean plastic surfaces with products that do not contain formaldehyde, acetone, alkalis and solvents.

If the walls of the shower stall are tiled or simply tiled, then you can clean them using soda or "Pemoluxa", "Comet". Particular attention should be paid to the seams between the tiles. This is a favorite place for mold and mildew to appear. It would be useful to treat them with fungicides.

Well, if there is already a black coating, then you can try to remove it with bleach or another powerful composition, for example, a mixture of soda, hydrogen peroxide and ammonia.

Pallet

The pallet can be made from various materials. The most “capricious” in terms of cleaning is the acrylic representative. You cannot wash it with the first available product. It will quickly deteriorate. There are special cleaning products for it (the same as for acrylic bathtubs).

But if it is not possible to purchase them, then you can use the most common toothpaste. It does not have abrasive properties like soda, but it is very effective at removing plaque. And the most common laundry soap also copes well with the task.

The easiest to clean are enameled and tiled trays. They can be cleaned even with powdered products without fear of being “scratched”. When treating a tiled surface, it is necessary to pay attention to the seams so that mold does not appear there in the future.

Stone pallets are also unpretentious in terms of cleaning. Typically, dirt does not accumulate on them as intensely as on other surfaces. But if the need arises, They should be cleaned using products specially designed for this purpose.. To restore the stone to its former brightness, toilet bowl cleaning products are used.

The most popular store-bought cleaners

Choosing effective cleaning products for your shower stall is not an easy task. But it’s not easy because there are a lot of different products on the market today. And your eyes just run wild when you need to choose one thing. But nonetheless there are time-tested and proven positive side goods such as:

  • Dishwashing detergents - effectively remove traces of soap scum. Except liquid formulations, in some cases, “Komet”, “Pemolux” and other powders are acceptable.
  • So-called fungicides are means for removing black plaque and mold.

  • Toilet treatment products - can help clean, for example, a stone tray " Toilet duckling"can be a lifesaver for those who have very hard water.
  • Anti-scale agents for teapots. Antiscale solution will help get rid of limescale.
  • Cleaning products for mirrors and glass. It doesn’t matter what it will be - “Mr. Muscle” or some other composition. Many of them are excellent at cleaning windows and mirrors.
  • Melamine sponge. This is an almost universal product that can effectively remove dirt.

Popular detergents that can be used to clean the hydrobox:

  • "Akrilan" is a special product designed for cleaning acrylic surfaces.
  • Cilit – powerful tool, which cannot be used on surfaces made of natural stone or aluminum. Quite poisonous. Requires extreme caution in handling.
  • Tilex is a prophylactic agent. Used after taking a shower to prevent the formation of plaque and mold.

  • Cif is a well-proven remedy. Can clean acrylic surfaces.
  • “Sanelit” has a pungent odor, but at the same time copes well with the assigned tasks. Suitable for cleaning acrylic.

  • Aron – effectively cleans hydrobox glass. Can be purchased at an affordable price.
  • Sarma, Domestos, O.C. Plus and many other wonderful products.

Effective folk recipes

The household chemicals market is flooded with all kinds of products. But, after all, it’s still “chemistry”. I don’t particularly want to use it often in my home.

There are ways to clean the cabin without these purchasing funds. One of them is use of a steam generator. Another is the use of “grandmother’s” folk recipes for keeping the house clean.

Long before the advent of shower cabins, there were time-tested recipes for compositions that could effectively combat lime and soap deposits, mold and mildew, and rust stains. And these compounds are quite hypoallergenic and non-toxic.

To clean the shower stall, you can prepare the following compositions:

  • Dilute soda in water, and also use it (if the material allows) as a powder. But don't use baking soda on plastic. Baking soda is an abrasive substance.
  • Soda is effective in combination with citric acid. 20 g of soda and 30 g of citric acid, diluted in a glass of water, will add shine to the surface being cleaned.
  • You can get rid of mold with the following explosive and “fragrant” composition: mix in equal proportions (usually a quarter glass) soda, vinegar, ammonia. Leave the composition for half an hour, and then rinse everything thoroughly with water.

  • The following mixture can be used to prevent the formation of fungus and mold: 1 glass of water, 1 teaspoon of vinegar, 1 teaspoon of ammonia and 1 teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide.
  • Regular 3% vinegar works great on stains. It must be diluted with water, for example, in a ratio of 1:10. This composition perfectly removes soap stains, rust and plaque.
  • Alcohol or vodka composition - 1 part alcohol or vodka (usually 1 tablespoon is enough) to 2 parts water. An excellent glass cleaner is ready!
  • 5 drops of ammonia per glass (200 ml) of water - also excellent remedy for washing glass. You can strengthen it and add a moisture-repellent effect using glycerin. Another 100 ml of product must be added to the solution.

Recently, shower stalls have received widespread. They are more compact and practical regular baths. It may seem that caring for the booth is very simple. But in reality, you need to make an effort to get rid of soap scum, rust and dirt. By regularly cleaning your shower, you can maintain its original appearance for a long time. For these purposes, many methods have been invented that can be done at home.

Shower stall - a place that should always be clean, because high humidity creates excellent conditions for the reproduction of various microorganisms. If you do not clean your shower regularly, mold and limescale will appear on its surface.

There are several types of cabin care:

  1. Regular cleaning involves performing certain actions after each visit to the shower. Must be washed off thoroughly soap suds, rinse the booth with hot water and then with cold. After this, wipe the surface with a rag. If you do not ignore regular cleaning, then subsequently cleaning the shower will go much faster.
  2. Periodic cleaning is carried out at intervals of one week to a month depending on the traffic and how dirty the cabin is. At this stage, you will have to use additional means that can cope with more serious contamination. Various detergents, sponges and brushes will be used. Rubber glass scrapers work well for cleaning showers. After carrying out the procedures, you must thoroughly wipe the surface of the booth with a dry cloth, without leaving any drops of water.
  3. General cleaning may not be necessary if the previous two types of cleaning are carried out thoroughly. The need for such cleaning arises when the shower has not been used for a long time or it is very dirty. During the washing process, it is necessary to use strong detergents and be sure to protect your hands with rubber gloves.

Cleaning different surfaces in the shower

Shower cleaners can damage the finish or leave streaks if used on surfaces other than those for which they are intended. It is necessary to approach cleaning the walls, doors, tray and faucets of the shower stall differently.

Cabin walls

Most often, shower walls are made of plastic and polystyrene. These materials need to be washed regularly as they may darken over time. Suitable for these purposes:

  • polyurethane scraper;
  • synthetic sponge;
  • soft rag made of non-woven fabric.

To remove limescale from the walls, you will need a product that does not contain active acids, alkalis and formaldehyde. It is convenient to use aerosols, pastes and liquid substances.

Doors

Glass is usually used to make booth doors. Such surfaces can be washed with almost any means, using window sprays and folk recipes.

If you don’t have glass cleaner on hand, you can mix 100 ml of vinegar or citric acid with 100 ml of water. Apply the resulting solution to the shower doors and wait 15 minutes. Rinse the glass with plenty of water and wipe with a sponge. After this, you need to wipe the doors dry with a rag.

Tile

You can find shower stalls in which the walls and tray are tiled. You can wash tiles, like acrylic trays, with almost any bath cleaning product.

The joints between the tiles should be treated especially carefully, as this is where mold usually forms. It is necessary to regularly clean the tile joints with cleaning powders and special products for washing tiles.

Plumbing

The shower head, faucet, mixer and cabin frame are made of chrome-plated steel. After each shower, you need to wipe these elements dry. To keep them clean, you must use non-abrasive products to clean metal surfaces:

  1. If the problem has started and the faucet has become so coated that it stops turning, you need to use folk method. Soak a rag in vinegar and wrap it around the faucet. To prevent the vinegar from evaporating, cover the top of the cloth with cling film. Leave for several hours. As a result, the limescale will soften.
  2. To clear clogged shower head holes, you need to heat vinegar and apply it to the shower head. Leave for 15 minutes and rinse with water. Then you need to unscrew the sprayer and clean the holes with a needle or toothpick.

Cleaning the tray

To wash the shower tray, you need to find out what material it is made of. The most common - acrylic, ceramics, enameled steel or cast iron.

Acrylic

Acrylic trays are the most difficult to clean. This material does not tolerate the use of rough brushes and cleaning powders with fine abrasive particles. In addition, aggressive solutions containing acids and alcohol should not be used. If the purchased product contains alkali, formaldehyde or formic acid, then it is better to postpone it until another time.

You can wash the acrylic tray using laundry soap. To do this, you need to soap the sponge and wipe the surface. Then rinse the tray with plenty of water.

Fatty and limescale deposits are removed with toothpaste. You will need to apply it to the contaminated areas and wait a few minutes. After this, wipe the tray with a sponge. Instead of paste, you can also use dishwashing liquid.

In addition to folk remedies, there are also creamy mixtures created specifically for cleaning acrylic bathtubs. They must be applied to the tray with a sponge or soft cloth and washed off thoroughly after 15 minutes.

Enameled

Such pallets are usually made of cast iron or steel and coated with enamel. To clean them, you can use gels, sprays, and powders purchased in the store. For example, Comet, Pemolux and others.

You can also prepare your own cleaning mixture. Add 2 tablespoons of soda to 100 ml of lemon juice. Apply the resulting solution to the enamel and wait 10 minutes. Then rinse the tray and, if necessary, additionally wipe the surface with a sponge.

Lemon juice will help add shine to cabin elements made of chromed steel.

Folk remedies

There is always greasy, limescale, and soap stains left on the shower stall. High humidity can cause rust and mold to appear. To prevent these unpleasant consequences, it is necessary to carry out regular cleaning.

If you don’t want to spend money on store-bought detergents, then you can use proven folk methods.

Lemon acid

Lemon juice has long been known as a good helper in the fight against greasy and limescale deposits. To clean your shower with this product, you need to:

  • in a glass hot water add 1 tablespoon of citric acid and stir thoroughly;
  • moisten a sponge in the prepared solution and wipe the contaminated areas;
  • Rinse the cabin with running water.

If the shower is very dirty, you will need to leave the solution for 10 minutes and rub the surface with a rag or soft brush. Instead of citric acid, you can use freshly squeezed lemon juice.

Vinegar

A solution of acetic acid will help clean the shower stall from limescale. To do this, mix vinegar and water in equal proportions. Then apply the mixture to the inner surface of the booth and wait 10 minutes. After this, rinse the solution with running water and wipe the surface dry.

You can also use vinegar to remove rust and yellow stains. You will need to pour acetic acid into a spray bottle and spray it over the surface of the contamination. After half an hour, you need to wash off the vinegar along with the rust. Using heated vinegar, you can also clean the holes in the hydromassage nozzles.

Soda

You can use soda only on those surfaces on which the use of substances with abrasive properties is permitted.

Do not use baking soda to clean acrylic trays.

In order to wipe off dirt with soda, you must first moisten the surface. Then carefully apply baking soda to the stain and rub the area with a sponge or soft cloth. After this, you need to wash off the remaining substance and rinse the booth thoroughly with running water.

Vodka

One of the most effective means for cleaning the shower stall - this is vodka. You need to mix 2 tablespoons of water and 1 tablespoon of vodka. Apply this solution with a sponge or cloth to the dirt. Wipe the surface thoroughly and rinse off the composition with running water. Then wipe the shower area dry.

This method is ideal for cleaning doors and chrome elements of the cabin. Vodka can cope with both limescale and soap stains.

Toothpaste

At home, this product allows you to cope with plaque in the shower stall. To do this, you will need to apply toothpaste or tooth powder to the dirty areas and leave for 15 minutes. Then rub the surface with a soft brush and rinse off any remaining product with warm water.

The main advantage of this method is the absence of abrasive properties. Therefore, it can be used for cleaning metal and acrylic surfaces.

Regular cleaning will not take much time, but will eliminate the need to scrub away old stains.
