In this case, the easiest way is to use the tool built into the operating system for association of the IRP file with applications to support it. Double click on the file you cannot open - the operating system will display a list of programs that are likely to work with your IPR file. Select one of them, or indicate on the disk the place where you installed one of the offers from our list. Windows should open the IPR file with a pre-installed program.

The entry for the IPR file in the "Windows System Registry" has been deleted or corrupted
The IPR file is infected with a virus

It may happen that a computer virus is filed under the IPR file. In this case, for sure it will not be possible to open such a file. Download a good antivirus program and scan the IRP file. If an antivirus program detects dangerous data, this may indicate an indication of an IPR file.

You are here because you have a file that has a file extension that ends in .ipr. Files with the .ipr extension can only be launched by certain programs. It is possible that .ipr are data files and not documents or media, which means they are not meant to be viewed at all.

what is .ipr  file?

When users create project files using InstallShield Professional, these project files are saved as IPR files. This is why IPR files are known as InstallShield Professional project files. IPR files fall under the developer category files, as they are files with project information such as settings, scripts, directory structures, and installer settings dialogs that are required for installation packages created with software to function. In other words, since the InstallShield Professional program is the software used to create InstallScript installation packages based on IPR files, it contributes greatly to the construction of these packages. They are usually created using InstallShield Professional version 3.x - 7.x. InstallShield Professional runs on the Windows operating system and is software developed by Flexera Software. This is an application that makes the simple and fast development and construction of a reliable Windows Installer possible.

Flexera InstallShield

Flexera InstallShield

InstallShield is an application used to create software packages and MSI Installers for Windows that can be used for mobile, server, desktop and Web programs. It is the only software that can install Microsoft App-V packages. The program generates an EXE file to be used on the target computer to be able to install payloads from the source computer . Registry settings, prerequisites and questions may be specified for the user to choose from upon installation. Projects created by InstallShield have IPR formats that contain project data such as scripts, installer dialog settings, directory structures and other settings. They store valuable information to create the installation packages. The latest version 2012 Spring has added support features for Visual Studio 2012 and Windows 8, while still supporting older and traditional programs. The database scripting abilities of Microsoft SQL Azure allows hybrid cloud deployments. It performs automatic downloads of patches and updates during runtime. It supports Enterprise transformation with its PowerShell Support and Microsoft System Center 2012 Configuration Manager Support features. It has enhanced its Suite capabilities based on customer requests with its InstallShield 2012 Premier Suite Advanced UI feature. It has redesigned its wizard pages and wizard page editor to fit new generation users.

word of warning

Be careful not to rename the extension to .ipr  files or any other files. This will not change the file type. Only a special conversion program can change a file from one file type to another.

what is the file extension?

A file extension is a set of three or four characters at the end of a filename, in this case, .ipr. File extensions tell you what type of file it is, and tell Windows what programs it can open. Windows often associates a default program for each file extension, so that when you double-click a file, the program starts automatically. While the program is no longer on your computer, you may sometimes receive an error message when you try to open the corresponding file.

Start download

If you cannot view the IPR file by double-clicking it, try opening it with another program. Some of the most popular programs for opening IPR files are SMART Ideas Document, IntelliJ Project XML File, and LiveType Animation File. Browse the developer's websites, download one or more of these programs, then try opening the IPR file again.

Get key from file type

A single file extension can be used for multiple file types. Knowing the type of file you have can help you know how to open it. Most IPR files are categorized as Developer Files, which can be opened by numerous software packages. See if you have a program already installed on your computer that is designed to open Developer Files. Hopefully this program can also work with your IPR file.

You can find out what type of file your IRP file is by looking at the file's properties. Right-click the file icon and select Properties or More Information. On a Windows machine, the file type will be listed under File Type; on a Mac, it will be under Kind.

Contact developer

Nobody knows more about file extensions than software developers. If you are unable to open the IPR file with any of the regular programs, you can contact the software developer of the program and ask them for help. Find the developer of your program in the list below:

Visiting this page should help you answer specifically these or similar questions:

  • How to open ipr file?
  • How to convert an IPR file to another format?
  • What is the IPR file format extension?
  • What programs support the IRP file?

If, after viewing the materials on this page, you still have not received a satisfactory answer to any of the above questions, this means that the information regarding the IPR file presented here is not complete. Contact us using the contact form and let us know what information you did not find.

What else can cause problems?

There can be more reasons for you not being able to open an IPR file (not just the lack of an appropriate application).
Firstly- the IPR file may be incorrectly linked (incompatible) with the application installed to support it. In this case, you need to change this connection yourself. To do this, right-click on the IPR file you want to edit, click the option "To open with" and then select the program you have installed from the list. After such an action, problems with opening the IPR file should completely disappear.
Secondly- the file you want to open may simply be corrupted. Then, the best solution is to find a new version, or download it again from the same source as before (maybe for some reason in the previous session the download of the IPR file has not been completed and it cannot be opened properly).

This page is intended for users of the SecureBook protection.

Dear friends, the lead developer of InfoProtector, Viktor Fedorenkov, is in touch. We are familiar with the SecureBook protection, which I developed from 2004 to 2011.

I am glad to present you a new service that my colleagues and I have released, and which is an excellent replacement for the obsolete SecureBook system. I know more than anyone else about the internal structure of the ax and I want to explain why I say this. SecureBook has become obsolete since programs have appeared that allow you to automatically remove protection from courses protected by even the latest version of the Securbook, and these programs are easy to find in the public domain. This happened due to the impossibility of using some technologies as part of the pricing policy.
used in the sale of the program.

Disadvantages of SecureBook

In addition to breaking the protection, I would include a number of unpleasant errors of the SecureBook compiler as a disadvantage:

  • Avast sandbox detection error, the error causes two activations on one computer to burn with this antivirus;
  • It is impossible to protect video files larger than 1.5 GB;
  • Sometimes when launching a protected file, the autorun menu crashes;
  • If Flash 8 is installed on the computer of the buyer of the protected course, then the protection does not warn that the flash player needs to be updated, instead a white screen is shown when playing the video;
  • Constantly when starting protected lessons, a System Error pops up. code 5.
  • The startup time from large protected files reaches up to 3 minutes if you start from a computer, when you start from a DVD, the startup may take even longer;
  • Protected PDF files are fully extracted into memory at startup, from where an attacker can pull them out in their original state
  • Protected files do not have a digital signature, so antiviruses constantly warn and swear
  • A single key generation algorithm for all courses protected by SecureBook
  • The activation mechanism is not suitable for selling courses on DVD, the buyer can activate the disc only after writing a letter in support of the publisher, where the publisher must manually add activation for him.
  • Too complicated process for activating a protected product for the end user
  • The complexity of setting up online activation, which is why more than half of users did not use it
  • If the buyer of the course does not have the Internet, then the publisher has to manually generate an activation key for him

Features of InfoProtector

Infoprotector has absorbed all my best developments over the past 7 years in the field of protection, while the architecture itself has been so heavily redesigned that I can say with a clear conscience that the core is completely new, and uses those techniques that I could not even think of using just a couple of years ago, a colossal work has been done!

Below is a list of infoprotector functions that will be of interest to SecureBook users.

Activation process

The process of launching and activating a protected product is extremely simple.

At the moment the lesson is started, a special mini-program ipLauncher takes control. This is a special application for showing a splash screen while files are being launched. Protected files can be launched from a DVD for more than one second, especially if an antivirus is installed on the PC. People start to think that the link didn't work and start clicking the link to start the protected lesson over and over again. As a result, the computer slows down terribly when running 10 copies of one protected file at the same time. The brakes start even before the code of the protected file starts executing - during an antivirus scan or loading a file from a DVD into memory, which is why this launcher was created, it instantly starts from the disk due to the size of 30kb, and waits for the desired file to be fully launched, showing a message asking wait a bit.

Next, an activation window is shown, no manual activation, even if the buyer of the product does not have Internet access, he is asked to go to a special URL where he can independently activate his course. The format of the key for online activation is XXXX-XXXX-XXXX, which is convenient to put in the box with the disk, there is also the possibility of using your logo in the activation window.

By the way, due to the fact that InfoProtector has the ability to save protected video files in its own format (separate files from EXE - files with the *.ipr extension), when launched on computers with antiviruses, the brakes go away. For example, on a computer with Kaspersky Internet Security 2011, a protected file of 1.3 GB in size runs in just 5 seconds, compared to 3 minutes for launching a similar protected file in the SecureBook program.

Also, all protected files are digitally signed (Code Signing), thanks to which antiviruses do not warn that the file may be dangerous and run protected products with maximum privileges without any questions.
